Terror groups laud Ariel 'heroic operation,' call for escalating attacks - Khaled Abu Toameh

by Khaled Abu Toameh

Hamas officials consider the Aqsa Mosque compound rallies a “referendum” in support of the armed “resistance” against Israel.

Buoyed by Friday night’s terrorist attack in Ariel and massive support during rallies at the Aqsa Mosque compound (Temple Mount) over the past few weeks, Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups have called for stepping up the fight against Israel. In separate statements, the groups also welcomed the Ariel attack, which resulted in the killing of a security guard.

Hamas officials said over the weekend that they consider the rallies that took place at the compound as a “referendum” in support of the armed “resistance” against Israel.

During the rallies, thousands of Hamas supporters chanted slogans in support of Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif and the group’s leader in the Gaza Strip, Yayha Sinwar. The demonstrators also called on Hamas to bomb Tel Aviv and “blow up the heads of the Zionists.”

“The decision of the Palestinian people is that the resistance is the option and the shortest way to liberate Palestine and Jerusalem,” said Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who is based in Qatar.

But a leaflet distributed by Fatah activists in east Jerusalem on Friday criticized the worshippers for raising Hamas flags at the holy site. The leaflet also attacked the worshippers for chanting slogans against Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

A senior PA official in Ramallah condemned the use of the holy site as a podium for “raising political banners and slandering President Abbas.” The official argued that the pro-Hamas rallies at the Aqsa Mosque compound caused “huge damage” to the Palestinians.

In a video released early Saturday, a masked man claiming to represent the Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of the ruling Fatah faction headed by Abbas, claimed “full responsibility” for the Ariel attack. He said that the attack came “in response to the oppression and violation of the occupation government against Muslim and Christian holy sites.”

The masked man pledged that his group will continue “in the path of glory and martyrdom.”

It was not clear whether the Fatah-affiliated group was indeed responsible for the attack.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) organization said that the Palestinians will “continue the fight against the [Israeli] enemy.”

Commenting on the death of Yahya Adwan, a 28-year-old Palestinian from the village of Azun in the northern West Bank who was shot dead by IDF soldiers during clashes shortly after the Ariel attack, PIJ called on Palestinians to avenge his killing.

Abu Hamza, a spokesperson for PIJ’s armed wing, praised the Ariel attack as a “heroic operation” and a “gift from the Palestinians to all the free people on Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Day.”

AL-QUDS DAY, an annual event held on the last Friday of Ramadan, was initiated by Iran in 1979 to express support for the Palestinians and call for the destruction of Israel.

Abu Hamza said that the rallies and demonstrations held in Iran and other countries on the day increased hopes of the imminent “defeat of the Zionist entity.”

He praised Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei for supporting “the path of struggle and jihad against the Zionist enemy.”

Hamas also welcomed “the heroic operation” in Ariel, saying that the fight will continue “until liberation and [the right of] return,” a reference to Palestinian refugees and their descendants who are demanding that they be allowed to return to their former homes in Israel.

“This heroic operation, and the continuous resistance operations, dispel the illusions of those who thought that the settlers’ daily crimes against our people, our land and our Islamic and Christian holy sites, and their incursions into blessed al-Aqsa Mosque, will remain without a price and without a response from the resistance,” Hamas said in a statement. “As we salute our heroic resistance fighters, we affirm that the resistance will continue as long as the occupation remains on our land.”

The PLO’s Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) also hailed the Ariel terror attack, urging Palestinians to continue the “struggle” against Israel.

“The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine saluted the heroes of the attack on the Ariel settlement, who expressed the choice of our Palestinian people to resist the occupation,” the PFLP said in a statement. “The armed action of the resistance factions is the best response to the occupation and its crimes.”

The PFLP called on Palestinians to “expand and escalate all forms of engagement with the Zionist enemy.”

The DFLP, for its part, said that it considers the Ariel attack as “a blow to the occupation’s security system and its fortifications.”

The group said that the attack came “in response to the occupation’s crimes, terrorism, settler violence, attacks on worshipers in the courtyards of al-Aqsa Mosque, and daily arrests and incursions. Our people will continue their resistance in all forms until the liberation of their land.”

Giving Carrots to Iran Will Not Alter Its Brutal, Expansionist Plan - Majid Rafizadeh

by Majid Rafizadeh

It is time for the Biden administration and the European Union to see that, as with Putin's Russia, no amount of appeasement or concessions is going to pressure the Iranian regime – to change its ruthless, expansionist program for the better.

  • "The Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps ... will be responsible not only for guarding and preserving the frontiers of the country, but also for fulfilling the ideological mission of jihad in God's way; that is, extending the sovereignty of God's law throughout the world." – Constitution, Islamic Republic of Iran

  • "We shall export our revolution to the whole world. Until the cry 'There is no god but Allah' resounds over the whole world, there will be struggle." -- Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic, 1981

  • "We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah. For patriotism is another name for paganism. I say let this land [Iran] burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world." --Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, The Economist, November 20, 2007

  • Does anyone seriously think that having a bomb and billions of dollars will make the mullahs less aggressive?

  • It is time for the Biden administration and the European Union to see that, as with Putin's Russia, no amount of appeasement or concessions is going to pressure the Iranian regime – called by the US State Department itself "The world's worst state sponsor of terrorism -- to change its ruthless, expansionist program for the better.

The Biden administration and the European Union continue to appease the ruling mullahs of Iran while ignoring the regime's threats to annihilate Israel. Do they really believe that appeasing the Islamic Republic will lead to a positive change within the regime? Or do they secretly hope that Iran will do them a favor and finally, to paraphrase King Henry II, rid them of this troublesome country?

The Biden administration and the European Union might do well to understand that revolutionary and authoritarian regimes such as the Islamic Republic -- as we are seeing now with Vladimir Putin's Russian invasion if Ukraine -- do not alter their malign policies through appeasement and concessions. If anything --as there are no negative consequences for unneighborly behavior, and sometimes there are even rewards -- they regard appeasement and concessions as green lights and double down, go twice as bad.

Take a look at history of the Islamic Republic: for almost four decades, since its inception in 1979, it has kept its revolutionary ideals. One of its most non-negotiable and critical revolutionary ideals is exporting its ideology and system of (Velayat e faqih: Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist) to other countries. The late founder of the regime, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, introduced a revolutionary notion in Islamic Shiite thought with the concept of Velayat e Faqih (Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist) which means a clergy or an ayatollah should have custodianship and power over the people across the world, should rule over people and be the final decision maker.

The regime calls this core mission, Jihad, which has to be achieved through hard power and violence. As the Islamic Republic's constitution points out: "The Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps ... will be responsible not only for guarding and preserving the frontiers of the country, but also for fulfilling the ideological mission of jihad in God's way; that is, extending the sovereignty of God's law throughout the world."

The founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, reiterated this important Islamic mission on several occasions: He famously said, "We shall export our revolution to the whole world. Until the cry 'There is no god but Allah' resounds over the whole world, there will be struggle."

For the revolutionary regime of Iran, all that matters is the triumph of Islam. As Ayatollah Khamenei stated, "We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah. For patriotism is another name for paganism. I say let this land [Iran] burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world." He adds, "Islam is politics or it is nothing."

To achieve this revolutionary ideal of creating one nation under Islam, the ruling mullahs believe that whoever opposes them is an infidel and must be eliminated. As Ayatollah Khomeini warns "If one permits an infidel to continue in his role as a corrupter of the earth, the infidel's moral suffering will be all the worse. If one kills the infidel, and this stops him from perpetrating his misdeeds, his death will be a blessing to him." He also adds "All those against the revolution must disappear and quickly be executed."

Suppressing women is another revolutionary ideal of the regime. "Is progress achieved by sending women to the majlis [parliament]? Sending women to these centers is nothing but corruption. We are against this prostitution. We object to such wrongdoings," Ayatollah Khomenei said about women role in politics.

Take a quick look as well at the destruction that this regime has caused in the last four decades. At its inception, the regime detained and humiliated 52 Americans and did not release its hostages for 444 days, the longest hostage-taking in modern history. The Iranian regime has also been using its proxies, such as Hezbollah, to commit terrorism and incite antagonism towards America, Israel and even just Jews. Hezbollah has been accused of terrorist attacks, including the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marines barracks in Beirut, in which 241 U.S. Marines were killed; the 1984 United States Embassy annex bombing in Beirut; the 9/11 attacks in the United States, for which a U.S. federal court ordered Iran to pay $7.5 billion to the victims' families. Hezbollah and Iran were also reportedly behind the 1992 attack on Israel's Embassy in Buenos Aires during which 29 people were killed, as well as bombing the USS Cole in October, 2000.

It was the Iranian government that provided aid to Al Qaeda to carry out terrorist attacks against the US on 9/11/2001. A New York court found that "The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran ("Iran") has a long history of providing material aid and support to terrorist organizations including al Qaeda."

Does anyone seriously think that having a bomb and billions of dollars will make the mullahs less aggressive?

It is time for the Biden administration and the European Union to see that, as with Putin's Russia, no amount of appeasement or concessions is going to pressure the Iranian regime – called by the US State Department itself "The world's worst state sponsor of terrorism -- to change its ruthless, expansionist program for the better.

Saudis would develop bomb 'the next day' if Iran nuclear deal led to weapons capability: experts - Peter Aitken

by Peter Aitken

Saudi Arabia may exploit its ties with Pakistan to quickly acquire a bomb

Saudi Arabia will likely look to develop its own nuclear capabilities should an Iran nuclear deal go through, experts told Fox News Digital.

"If Iran went nuclear tomorrow, the next day the Saudis would probably buy a nuclear weapon from Pakistan or ratchet up their own nuclear program," said Jim Phillips, a senior research fellow for Middle Eastern affairs at The Heritage Foundation. "They have a long way to go, but they reportedly financed the Pakistani program, and there might be some quid pro quo involved in that."

Iran and the U.S. agreed to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran nuclear deal, in 2015 during President Obama’s administration. President Trump withdrew from the plan in 2018 and promised to negotiate a better deal, but President Biden had to take the lead on any such new deal.

RUSSIA INVADES UKRAINE: LIVE UPDATES

Saudi Arabia strongly opposed the original nuclear deal but recently has shown more willingness to engage Tehran on an agreement. Experts point to a number of factors that have drawn Riyadh to the negotiating table – chiefly economic and security concerns for the region.

"I think Saudi Arabia is being more diplomatic, but not really positive because it saw the deal went through in 2015 despite its objection and the objections of Israel," Phillips argued. "So, I think it’s minimizing its negative reception."

"It’s publicizing its negative views of a possible deal, but I believe it remains strongly opposed because of the impact of a possible deal on its national interests."

A nuclear deal would likely see Iran resume its previous level of trade, which would provide a significant impact on the economic balance of the region. Todd Young recently wrote in a Fox News opinion piece that the windfall could total as much as $130.5 billion.

BIDEN'S IRAN DEAL WOULD CREATE A FOREIGN POLICY DISASTER FOR US AND HAND XI, PUTIN, KHAMENEI A MAJOR VICTORY

"Saudis and others would be worried about reductions in oil prices – that’s the first concern – and overall, more the worry is whether Iran will be able to use the income from a new nuclear deal to help further fuel the expansion of its missile and proxy terrorist activities," Matthew McInnis from the Institute for the Study of War explained.

"The Houthis are certainly the number one concern for the Saudis right now," McInnis said. "That’s the number one thing on the Saudi agenda: how to deal with the Houthis. They want resolution of the conflict."

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that Saudi crown prince Mohammad bin Salman refused a call from President Biden – which the White House denies – and Phillips argued this was likely in reaction to how Biden has handled the Houthis security concern. Biden removed the Houthis from a list of designated terrorist groups shortly after taking office but has considered adding them back to the list as a means of easing tensions with Riyadh.

WHITE HOUSE QUITS ASKING SAUDIS FOR MORE OIL AFTER VERBAL DUST-UP WITH TOP OFFICIAL: REPORT

But the greatest concern remains Iran’s ability to obtain nuclear weapons should it start to develop its capabilities. The JCPOA limited Iran’s nuclear capabilities for a period of 10 years on centrifuges and 15 years on the amount of enriched uranium it can possess.

Critics argue the 15-year window only delays Iran’s nuclear pathway rather than stops it, and it provides Iran with upfront, permanent benefits of cash that cause immediate concerns for the region. Supporters believe that gap will allow a new generation to take power and make new agreements, but it’s a gamble that some other countries – such as Israel and, until more recently, Saudi Arabia – do not support.

Saudi Arabia’s program remains far less developed compared to Iran’s, but it has some potential shortcuts: A "variety of sources" told BBC Newsnight in 2013 that Saudi Arabia had invested in Pakistan’s nuclear weapons project, largely to prepare for the possibility of Iran obtaining a bomb.

SAUDI ARABIA'S BIDEN-HARRIS SKIT HIGHLIGHTS RIYADH'S FRUSTRATION WITH DC: ROVE

Amos Yadlin, a former head of Israeli military intelligence, told a conference in Sweden at the time that if Iran got the bomb, "the Saudis will not wait one month. They already paid for the bomb, they will go to Pakistan and bring what they need to bring."

McInnis argues that is may still be the case: Pakistan would likely provide the "easiest" option for Saudi Arabia to arm itself, but he questions how effectively that method would work.

"I think the Iranians probably underestimate the risk of other regional states pursuing nuclear weapons if they do decide to go for a bomb," McInnis said. "This is one of the reasons why we have to be extremely concerned about the Iranians pursuing a nuclear weapon, considering the possibility of a nuclear arms race in the region."

"Obviously, with the long-standing connections with Pakistan on a variety of fronts, there is the concern that that would be the avenue by which Saudi Arabia could achieve a nuclear weapon quickly," he added. "I think the Pakistan pathway is probably the easiest, but I think there are still a number of questions as to whether that would work."

Free speech concerns mount over DHS 'disinformation' board as lawmakers, critics weigh in - Kelly Laco

by Kelly Laco

Secretary Mayorkas announced the creation of the 'Disinformation Governance Board' Wednesday

Federal and state lawmakers, constitutional scholars and other experts are expressing concerns with the Department of Homeland Security's new misinformation board, which they say is the Biden administration's attempt to stifle free speech.

Mayorkas announced during testimony Wednesday before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security that DHS had created a Disinformation Governance Board to combat online disinformation.

"The goal is to bring the resources of (DHS) together to address this threat," Mayorkas said during the hearing, adding that the department is focused on the spread of disinformation in minority communities ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.

REPUBLICANS ACCUSE MAYORKAS OF DISCREDITING 'LEGITIMATE CRITICISM' WITH 'DISINFORMATION' BOARD, DEMAND INFO

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., was quick to condemn this latest action by the Biden administration, promising to introduce legislation to defund the new disinformation board.

"The Federal Government has no business creating a Ministry of Truth. The Department of Homeland Security's "Disinformation Board" is unconstitutional and unamerican, and I'll be introducing a bill to defund it," he tweeted Friday.

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., similarly tweeted, "Nothing else we are working on will matter if we don’t put an end to the Biden’s Ministry of Truth." And Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., stated, "I trust the common sense of the American people. A government arbiter of 'truth' department is a [red flag] for free thinking people."

Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., plans to ask Mayorkas more about the board in a hearing next week before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Oversight Committee Ranking Member Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., organized a letter Friday to Mayorkas, obtained exclusively by Fox News Digital, to "conduct oversight" on the new board and "continued efforts within the Biden Administration to suppress free speech and discredit legitimate criticism as misinformation." All 19 House Oversight Republicans signed the letter.

"The same party that spent years promoting the Russia collusion hoax, suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story, & equated parents to terrorists believes it has credibility to control your speech," House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., tweeted on Friday. "Biden must immediately abandon his plan to create an Orwellian Ministry of Truth."

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Ranking Member Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, and House Homeland Security Committee Ranking Member Rep. John Katko, R-N.Y., also sent a letter to Mayokras Friday, expressing "serious concerns" about the lack of information about the activities of the board under Jankowicz's leadership.

MAYORKAS TESTIFIES DHS IS CREATING 'DISINFORMATION GOVERNANCE BOARD'

In addition, Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., tweeted, "I don’t think people are fully understanding the severity of what a Ministry of Truth organized by DHS truly means. This is Stalin level. This is Mao level. This is the hill to die on."

The issue has spread to states, with GOP lawmakers and leaders pushing back.

WHITE HOUSE DEFENDS DHS 'DISINFORMATION' BOARD: 'NOT SURE WHO OPPOSES THAT EFFORT'

"Clearly, our entire principles that the country was founded on you cannot have a Ministry of Truth in this country," Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said during a press conference Friday. "So let’s get real here, let’s make sure we’re doing things to benefit Floridians and Americans, but we’re not going to let Biden get away with this one."

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt wrote a letter to Mayorkas Friday that was obtained exclusively by Fox News Digital. In the letter, Schmitt states that the focus of the "Orewellian" board to focus resources on the threat of "mis/disinformation" should "shock the very core of the American belief system, a threat to free speech that will rightly alarm freedom-loving people across America, including those in my home state of Missouri."

Brookings Institute Senior Fellow Shadi Hamid said the disinformation board is "not exactly a reassuring thought."

"How is this even up for debate? The government should not be involved in deciding what is true and false," Hamid continued.

Not all the critics are Republicans or conservatives.

"That the Biden Admin casually announced today that the Dept of Homeland Security — a domestic security agency — has created a ‘disinformation’ board is indescribably dystopian and chilling," Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald tweeted Thursday. "That Democrats think this is good and normal tells you all you need to know about them."

The White House defended the DHS board Thursday, saying its objective is to prevent disinformation in a "range" of communities.

"It sounds like the objective of the board is to prevent disinformation and misinformation from traveling around the country in a range of communities," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in response to Republican criticism of the board during a daily press briefing. "I'm not sure who opposes that effort."

Introduction
by David Horowitz and Daniel Greenfield

Joseph R. Biden is directly responsible for the worst, most humiliating, most dangerous – yet completely avoidable – defeat in the history of American warfare. He has betrayed the country that elected him and that he is sworn to serve. Yet Biden has shown no remorse and taken no responsibility for the damage he has done. Instead, he has brazenly lied and called his own disaster a “success.”

Every tyrant and terrorist watched the humiliating retreat from Afghanistan and knew we were weak.

false
A few months after the fall of Kabul, Communist China completed its takeover of Hong Kong with rigged parliamentary elections. Right around the same time, Vladimir Putin began the military buildup for the invasion of Ukraine.

None of that was a coincidence.

Biden has weakened our military while arming and empowering terrorists. He has emboldened Iran, China, and Russia leading to threats and conflicts around the world.

The question is, what will Republicans do about it?

Republicans are favored to take the House and even the Senate in the upcoming elections. If they do, will they hold Biden and his cabinet members and military leaders accountable? Or, just like Benghazi and so many other betrayals, will they back away instead of confronting the culprits and beginning America’s climb back to greatness.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are not going to resign. Will Republicans have the guts to impeach them over decisions that were so bad that former British prime minister and staunch American ally Tony Blair has called them “imbecilic”? (No former head of state has ever used such an extreme – but accurate – term to describe the decisions of an American president.)

Biden is not going to fire the generals who should have gone to the wall to oppose his brainless decisions and resigned when they failed to reverse them. Will Republicans call for their firing?

The Taliban held a victory parade to display the American military equipment that Biden simply abandoned and left for them to take. These weapons include Black Hawk helicopters, thousands of armored vehicles, and countless numbers of assault rifles.[1] Enough to arm numerous terrorist groups all over the world. There’s no telling how many Americans or allies these weapons will kill.

Thanks to Biden’s lack of interest in American security and as a consequence of his decisions, the Taliban now control nine air bases including one at Bagram, which we spent hundreds of millions of dollars turning into a state-of-the-art complex. [2] Adjoining Bagram was the country’s largest prison which housed thousands of Taliban, al-Qaeda, and ISIS-K prisoners who have been unleashed to kill more innocents. Those nine air bases will now become assets not only for the Taliban, but for China, Iran, Pakistan, and other Taliban allies.

Massive amounts of intel data have also fallen into enemy hands. The Taliban are using hand-held biometric scanners to hunt down and kill former American allies. And the Chinese and other enemy intel officers that go over what we left behind will learn a lot about American methods and neutralize the technical advantages America once had on the battlefield. There were thousands of state-of-the-art night vision goggles left in Afghanistan. These provided a decisive military advantage to the Afghan government forces allowing them to see at night while the Taliban could not. Now the Taliban and every terrorist group with access to its vast store of American loot will share that advantage.[3]

An American president and commander-in-chief loyal to his country and its citizens would never have made the decisions that Joe Biden did, which have put the lives of all Americans at risk. A loyal general staff would never have gone along with them. A decent set of leaders would have hung their heads in shame at the result of their decisions and been grateful that treason is no longer punished by firing squads, and then departed political and military life forever.

The first days of Biden’s misbegotten term in office should have warned everyone of what was to come when he began surrendering American interests to our enemies. Thus, the Biden administration scuttled the Trump administration probe into the Chinese lab origins of the coronavirus pandemic. Worse still, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the likely source of the lab leak, has once again become potentially eligible for taxpayer funding.[4]

While President Trump designated China’s persecution of Muslims as genocide, Biden squeamishly told CNN, “Culturally, there are different norms that each country and their leaders are expected to follow.”[5]

Under Biden, genocide and terrorism have become cultural norms that we are bound to accept.

Biden not only desperately pursued a renewal of the suicidal nuclear deal with Iran, he allowed the Islamic terrorist state to receive billions. He also ended the campaign against Iran’s Houthi terrorists in Yemen whose motto is, “Death to America,” and who had fired missiles at the USS Mason.

America’s enemies read these gifts as proof of America’s weakness under the leadership of an American coward who as Vice President had been the lone vote against killing Osama bin Laden and who had abandoned Iraq to ISIS.

The Taliban knew they had nothing to fear from Biden so they tested him by offering to let America control Kabul. Instead of protecting our withdrawal and exit, Biden declined their offer – an act so suicidal it was itself worthy of impeachment. He let the Taliban take Kabul and surround the airport to provide security, with deadly consequences to 13 American military personnel as well as Afghan civilians.

Al Qaeda’s allies, the Haqqani Network, controlled the checkpoints and surrounded the Kabul airport. American refugees trying to reach the airport were beaten by these terrorist thugs who didn’t let them get to the airport but opened the door for ISIS-K to come bearing rockets, machine guns, and suicide bomb vests. That’s how the thirteen brave Americans were murdered in Kabul.

And these decisions seemed not to be absent-minded mistakes, but calculated and deliberate.

Thus, in advance of the coming evacuation, Secretary of State  Antony Blinken scrapped the Contingency and Crisis Response Bureau created by Trump to evacuate Americans. He invited the terrorist-supporting UN to investigate American “systemic racism” while abandoning our people to the real systemic racism of the Taliban.

The Biden administration is a disloyal government that over and over has genuflected to America’s enemies and betrayed the American people, endangering their lives and the security of the nation. But while the whole Democrat Party goes along with these anti-America policies and the catastrophes they create, instead of holding them to account Republican leaders are playing their usual feckless roles, wasting their opportunity to nail the incompetent and disloyal president, along with his entire rotten administration to the wall.

Thus, House Minority Leader McCarthy has refused to move forward on Biden’s impeachment.

McCarthy admitted that the Afghanistan rout was “probably the biggest failure in American government on a military stage in my lifetime.” “Probably”? McCarthy also called for “accountability.”[6] But what kind of accountability does he have in mind if he won’t hammer home the horrific actions Biden has taken? And what kind of accountability is he seeking if he won’t move to remove Biden and his enablers from office?

Every Republican should be shouting “Impeach Biden! Impeach Harris! Impeach Blinken, Pelosi and Schumer!” Also: “Court Martial the Joint Chiefs of Staff!” who were busy imposing Critical Race Theory on the troops and witch-hunting conservatives in the ranks, when they should have been planning the Afghanistan retreat.

Many Republicans, including their leaders, who don’t understand the political war that Democrats are waging against them, think this is a bad idea. They think: even if Biden could be impeached, that would leave America in the cackling grip of President Kamala Harris. This is the type of thinking that accounts for the passivity of Republicans while Democrats are always fighting an aggressive war against them.

Nancy Pelosi spent four years attempting to impeach Trump on transparently bogus charges. Did this hurt Democrat polling despite its embarrassments, or did it help Democrat efforts to tar and feather Republicans and increase Democrat support? Nancy Pelosi is not going to impeach Biden or anyone else. But the American people need to hear what these Democrats are guilty of and calling for their impeachment is the way to do it. Impeach them for betraying the American people, endangering their lives and the lives of their children. This is how Democrats would conduct their political war if the roles were reversed. Republicans need to wake up and take the war to the enemy camp.

Meanwhile, as Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy sleeps, American patriots are on the move.

Dozens of flag officers have signed a letter by “Flag Officers 4 America” calling on Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley to resign.

Republican leaders did nothing to protect some of our finest officers, like Lt. Colonel Matt Lohmeier, from being sacrificed on the altar of critical race theory when the incompetent military brass fired them.

Will they re-think the costs of their silence?

Where are the GOP leaders willing to fight for our soldiers and our nation by taking the fight to Biden, to his cronies and stooges, from Kamala Harris to Lloyd Austin, Anthony Blinken, and Mark Milley? What’s House Minority Leader McCarthy risking? A few corporate donations? The respect of the D.C. establishment?

Joseph R. Biden is the worst president and the worst human being to ever occupy the White House. Patriots should never forget this, and never let Americans forget as well. Afghanistan is a holograph of America’s future if Democrat policies prevail. It fell because of the treachery of the Democrat Party in selecting a dementia case and judgment-challenged politician to be president. Afghanistan fell because of the lack of patriotic concern by the entire Biden White House and the military chiefs, the lack of concern for the welfare of the people, the first responsibility of those who hold these offices. The military chiefs who are a product of Barack Obama’s politicized military were busily pushing a Marxist ideology on their troops – one that indicts America as a hopelessly racist country – while the Taliban terrorists were preparing their victory march to Kabul.

Americans who love this country need to heed the call to defend it because the hour is late and the nation they love is under attack.

Ukraine defense ministry warns of 'signs' Russia is increasing troop size in Donbas - Caitlin McFall

by Caitlin McFall

Senior defense official says Russia is relying on dummy bombs as precision-guided missiles remain in low stock

A Ukrainian military official warned Saturday that Russia is continuing to bolster its forces in the eastern Donbas region and is intensifying its offensive measures.

"As of today, we see signs that Russia has been increasing its troops in eastern areas of operations. They are increasing the numbers of their units, and they want to take as much Ukrainian territory as possible," Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense spokesman Col. Oleksandr Motuzyanyk told reporters. "As of now, their main goal is to get administrative boundaries of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts as well as Kherson oblast."

NATO PREPARING FOR MASSIVE MILITARY EXERCISES AS RUSSIA CONTINUES INVASION OF UKRAINE

Senior defense officials said this week that the U.S. assesses Russia’s progression as slow and behind schedule.

The Donbas region is roughly the size of West Virginia, and Russia has been ramping up a second offensive there for nearly a month.

The Kremlin redirected the majority of its efforts into eastern Ukraine after it failed to take Kyiv, though Moscow has also stated its intent to take southern regions along the Black Sea.

"Russian troops have been gradually increasing the intensity of their offensive action in eastern Ukraine," Motuzyanyk said. "In addition, there have been signs of the aggressor preparing for even higher intensification of combat activities."

The colonel said Russian forces are building out their hospital capabilities both in Ukraine and Russia in preparation for an even more intensive fight ahead.

Motuzyanyk said that additional refrigeration facilities have also been established to preserve fallen Russian soldiers.

UKRAINE SAYS RUSSIA LOOKS TO ‘REPLENISH’ TROOPS BY CONSCRIPTING UKRAINIANS

A senior U.S. defense official could not confirm the number of Russian troops in eastern Ukraine but said the Pentagon assesses there are 92 operation battalion tactical groups (BTGs) in the country as a whole.

"We believe they have suffered attrition – they have suffered losses," the official said. "Not all these BTGs are at 100% capability."

Ukrainian and U.S. officials have noted that Russia is heavily relying on artillery and airstrikes as opposed to ground forces, the majority of which have been targeting Mariupol and areas housing units from Ukraine’s Joint Force Operation.

Mariupol has been among the hardest hit in Russia’s war in Ukraine, but defense officials said Friday that Russia is largely relying on dummy bombs as opposed to precision-guided missiles, which could speak to Moscow’s inability to properly resupply its forces.

Over 1,950 missiles have been fired at Ukrainian targets in the 65 days of the war.

No One to Talk to in Washington - Caroline Glick

by Caroline Glick

[B]oth the content of the nuclear deal that Biden seeks to achieve and the administration’s permissive responses to illicit Iranian nuclear and terror operations make clear that Biden’s true object is to facilitate Iran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons and hegemonic power, even at the expense of U.S. allies, strategic interests and national security.

On Tuesday, Israel Hayom reported that there is a growing sense among Israeli and U.S. officials that the Biden administration will not reach a nuclear accord with Iran. To be understood the report has to be seen in the context of a statement made later Tuesday by President Joe Biden’s press secretary Jen Psaki.

During her daily press briefing, Psaki said that the administration assesses that Iran is just weeks away from nuclear breakout capabilities. Nuclear breakout is reached when a state achieves the independent wherewithal to develop nuclear weapons. A nuclear breakout state does not necessarily have nuclear weapons. But it is regarded as a nuclear armed state because it has the capacity to build a nuclear arsenal at will and within a relatively short period of time.

The Biden administration began its nuclear talks with the Iranian regime in Vienna in April 2021. The declared purpose of Biden’s nuclear diplomacy, like the declared purpose of the Obama administration’s nuclear talks with Iran which led to the 2015 nuclear agreement, is to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power. But the content of Obama’s nuclear agreement and the leaks regarding the content of the deal that Biden’s team is negotiating make clear that the opposite is the case. The content of both makes clear that far from preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear armed state, the intended end of the both agreements, was and remains, enabling Iran to become a nuclear armed state, equipped with the economic wherewithal and diplomatic power to dominate its neighbors in the region.

The limitations the 2015 deal placed on Iran’s nuclear operations were insignificant when compared with the carte blanche Iran received to develop more advanced nuclear capabilities. While Iran was ostensibly curbing the quantities of low-enriched uranium it was permitted to stockpile under the deal, it was developing advanced centrifuges capable of enriching uranium to bomb grade levels. Those capabilities are permanent whereas the restrictions Iran accepted on the nuclear activities it was carrying out in 2015 were temporary.

Then too, those temporary limitations were supposed to be enforced by a harsh, intrusive inspections regime. But the inspections regime the Iranians agreed to left much of their nuclear program outside the purview of UN nuclear inspectors, thus effectively rendering the entire inspections regime partial and fundamentally uncredible.

The most optimistic projections claimed that the 2015 deal kept Iran a year away from nuclear breakout. That view was disputed by then president Barack Obama who admitted that at the end of the lifespan of the deal in 2030, Iran’s breakout time would be reduced to zero.

The most optimistic assessments of Biden’s sought for nuclear deal claim it will keep Iran 4-6 months from nuclear breakout from the moment the Iranians decide to cross the nuclear threshold.

This brings us to the claims by Psaki, other U.S. officials and senior Israeli officials this week that the Iranians are currently weeks from nuclear breakout.

The Foundation for Defense of Democracies in Washington, DC has been one of the leaders of the campaign for harsh economic sanctions against Iran in response to its nuclear weapons program for the past fifteen years. On March 3, the FDD published a report titled, “Iran Approaches the Nuclear Threshold.” The report set out the timeline of Iran’s nuclear advances over the past four years. In May 2018, then President Donald Trump withdrew the U.S. from Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran due to Iran’s breaches of the substance and spirit of the agreement. In May 2019, Iran announced that it was renouncing its commitment to the limitations on its nuclear activities it had accepted under the deal.

Despite their announcement, the Iranians did very little to openly expand their nuclear operations. Their reticence had three sources. First, they feared eliciting a harsh response from Trump. Second, they wished to empower the Democrats who had officially committed to reinstating the U.S. commitment to Obama’s nuclear deal upon retaking the White House. Finally, the frequent sabotage assaults against Iran’s nuclear facilities along with the assassinations of Iran’s senior nuclear scientists and officials, attributed to Israel, kept the Iranians off balance and forced them to devote their main efforts to defense, rather than to moving forward with their nuclear capabilities.

Shortly before Biden was inaugurated in early January 2021 the Iranians abrogated their agreement to the most significant aspects of the nuclear deal’s inspections regime and increased their level of uranium enrichment from the 3.67 percent purity permitted under the 2015 deal to 20 percent. In February 2021, Iran began producing uranium metal, which is mainly used to produce the core of nuclear weapons. Around the initiation of the nuclear negotiations in April 2021, the Iranians increased their level of enrichment yet again, to 60 percent enrichment, which is 99 percent of the way to weapons grade enrichment levels. They enriched the uranium with advanced centrifuges they developed after agreeing to the nuclear deal in 2015.

If the Biden administration’s goal was really to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, Biden and his advisors would have responded forcefully to Iran’s actions. They would have strengthened the standing sanctions and imposed additional ones. But instead, Biden and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stopped enforcing key sanctions and so enriched and empowered Iran still further and awarded the ayatollahs for their brinksmanship.

The administration greenlighted the transfer to Tehran of billions of dollars of Iranian government funds frozen under U.S. sanctions imposed by Trump’s maximum pressure campaign. The administration stopped enforcing bans on Iranian oil and gas exports. Due to the administration’s moves, today Iran reportedly earns as much from oil and gas exports as it did before Trump barred the sale of Iranian fuels on international markets.

The Biden administration blocked the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency from publishing a harsh report condemning Iran’s massive breaches of the 2015 nuclear deal and outlining its illicit nuclear activities. The State Department has released reports on Iran’s breaches of its nuclear limits, in accordance with U.S. law. But it watered down the language to make it seem that Iran’s behavior is acceptable.

The U.S. has responded weakly to Iran’s wanton aggression against Saudi Arabia and the UAE. In the first days of the administration, Biden removed Iran’s Yemeni proxy the Houthis from the State Department’s list of foreign terrorist organizations and has kept the Houthis off the list despite their escalating attacks on the UAE, Saudi Arabia and US forces in those states.

Even worse, the Biden administration continues to court Iran and seems poised to remove the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp from the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations even as the IRGC has deployed cells to assassinate former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former national security advisor John Bolton, and former Iran coordinator Brian Hook. The three former Trump administration officials receive around the clock protection.

In January, a Twitter account associated with Iran’s dictator Ali Khamenei posted an animated video of an Iranian hit squad assassinating former President Donald Trump on his golf course.

In summary, both the content of the nuclear deal that Biden seeks to achieve and the administration’s permissive responses to illicit Iranian nuclear and terror operations make clear that Biden’s true object is to facilitate Iran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons and hegemonic power, even at the expense of U.S. allies, strategic interests and national security.

This returns us to Tuesday’s report that the Biden administration may be ready to pull the plug on nuclear negotiations and on achieving a new deal to limit Iran’s nuclear operations. While it is clear that Biden’s desired diplomatic end state is to get a new nuclear agreement with Iran that may extend Iran’s nuclear breakout time from a few weeks to 4-6 months at the outside, it’s possible that the administration may be willing to see Iran become a nuclear breakout state outside an agreement. While this is clearly not Biden’s preferred outcome, Biden and his advisors may believe that it could be politically advantageous for them going into the midterm elections in November.

If Iran crosses the nuclear threshold outside the confines of a nuclear deal, Biden and his advisors may believe that they will be able to blame Trump for the outcome. Since taking office, despite the fact that Iran only began to significantly stepped up its nuclear operations after he was elected, and mainly since he entered office, Biden and his advisors have been insisting that Trump is responsible for Iran’s actions. According to their reasoning, if the U.S. had remained in the nuclear deal, Iran would not have begun breaching its commitments to restrain its nuclear behavior.

As for Israel, the Bennett-Lapid-Gantz government gives the impression that Israel’s leaders think Biden’s rhetoric is more important than his actual policies. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and his partners like Biden’s attacks against Trump because those attacks are aligned with their own attacks on former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Almost every day since forming their government last May, Bennett, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and their colleagues have insisted that had Netanyahu not proved to Trump that Iran was breaching the 2015 deal and that the Iranians had lied to the Americans about their intentions, Trump wouldn’t have abandoned Obama’s nuclear deal and Iran wouldn’t be weeks from nuclear breakout.

Although reports of sabotage of Iranian nuclear and drone installations still pop up from time to time, the volume of reports has dropped precipitously since last May. Upon entering office, the Bennett-Lapid government promised the U.S. total transparency in Israel’s operations in Iran. The implication was that Bennett and Lapid were giving the administration veto power over Israel’s operations.

With the precipitous drop in offensive activities against Iran’s nuclear installations, the Iranians now feel free to spend less efforts protecting their nuclear installations and more time using them to develop nuclear weapons.

Without effective inspections on Iran’s nuclear and missile sites, it is hard to know just where Iran stands in terms of moving from breakout capacity to an actual nuclear arsenal. Israel estimates it will take Iran a year or two to move from where it ostensibly stands today on the brink of independent capacity to develop and deploy nuclear weapons to actually possessing deployable nuclear weapons.

Despite the uncertainly about when precisely Iran will become a nuclear power, what is absolutely certain is that so long as the Biden administration remains in power, Israel’s leaders’ faith in Washington endangers its existential interests.

The Israeli field hospital Kohav Meir (Shining Star) has finished its operations and all volunteers returned to Israel on Friday morning after spending six weeks in Ukraine, where they treated more than 6,000 patients.

The humanitarian aid project, led by the Foreign and Health ministries, Sheba Medical Center and other Israeli hospitals and HMOs, and supported by the Shusterman Fund, as well as the Joint Distribution Committee.

Israel will continue granting Ukraine humanitarian assistance, a Health Ministry statement noted.

The hospital opened on March 22 and is named after former prime minister Golda Meir, who was born in Ukraine and founded the Foreign Ministry’s Agency for International Development, Cooperation and Aid program, which oversaw the mission.

Over 60 members of Sheba’s medical staff, even under the threat of Russian missiles, worked in the hospital and operated at the request of Kyiv itself, which asked that the hospital be constructed as part of Israel’s humanitarian efforts to help Ukraine.

Al-Aqsa Is Not Now, and Never Was, ‘Under Threat’ From Israel - Hugh Fitzgerald

by Hugh Fitzgerald

What the British used to call “the vivid oriental imagination” is at work.

Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Palestinian Authority all agree: Al-Aqsa Mosque has recently been “under threat” because those wild-eyed Israeli “settlers” – madmen all – were about to engage in the ritual slaughter of a lamb on top of the Temple Mount, as part of a diabolical effort to take over Al-Aqsa, bit by bit, and convert it to a synagogue. Those Palestinians, and especially the terrorists among them, have a rich fantasy life, what the British in the Middle East used to drily call “the vivid oriental imagination.”

A report by Nadav Shragai on the Palestinians exploiting the Temple Mount conflict as an excuse for another war with Israel can be found here: “Al-Aqsa Mosque is by no means under threat,” by Nadav Shragai, Israel Hayom, April 17, 2022:

Hamas is trying—and may succeed—in dragging Israel into a conflict on multiple fronts, with the Temple Mount serving as the trigger, exactly as was the case in April 2021. This time, as on previous occasions, the cry is the modern blood libel that “Al-Aqsa is under threat.”For more than a week now, Hamas and the Palestinian Authority have been spreading online stories about how a ritual Passover sacrifice will be carried out on the Temple Mount this year.

They’re knowingly lying now, just as they were in the past. They know the Temple Mount’s history over the last 55 yearsThey know that Israel has never allowed such a ritual to be performed. Moreover, via a number of channels, including Jordanian, Egyptian and American, the Palestinians—the radical Muslims among them—have received clarification that this year, too, no such ritual will be allowed to take place.

Ever since Israel took possession of the Temple Mount in 1967, it has forbidden Jews from making a ritual sacrifice of a lamb at Passover. This year was no different from the previous 54. When Raphael Morris, the leader of the fringe group Returning to the Mount, announced that the group would this year be offering NS 10000 (about $3,091 USD) to anyone who would perform the Pascal lamb sacrifice on Friday, April 15, the Israeli authorities raided his house, took away the lamb tethered inside, and prohibited him not only from visiting the Mount, but from getting anywhere near the Old City. There was never the slightest chance that the Jewish ritual sacrifice would take place. You wouldn’t know that, however, from the hysteria about such a possibility coming – still – from the Palestinians.

But Hamas and their ilk chose to ignore this and set the Temple Mount on fire because such a conflagration—geared to once again suck in Arab Israelis and pour gasoline on the already burning fire of terrorism—suits them at this time.

At this time, Hamas is not prepared for, and does not want, to fight the Israelis in Gaza. Instead it is trying to stir up trouble – incite violence – among the Palestinians in PA-ruled parts of the West Bank and among the Israeli Arabs. Spreading alarm about supposed Israeli threats to Al-Aqsa is the easiest way to rouse the Palestinians, and Israeli Arabs, to violence.

The police have thus far been gentle, initially proposing that Waqf officials try to disperse the rioters themselves. This was a miske. Even if it wanted to—and it doesn’t—the Waqf is incapable of confronting Hamas. Some senior Waqf officials were and perhaps remain connected to Hamas.

So eager were the Israelis not to have to suppress the rioters themselves – they were trying to avoid a confrontation, not to create one, with the Arabs – that they suggested that the Jordanians, whose Waqf administers the mosque site, take charge of dispersing the rioters who were throwing rocks and other objects at the Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall. The Waqf refused, and the Israeli police, reluctantly, took on the messy task. It wasn’t easy; on Friday, April 15, the first day of the rioting, it took six hours to suppress the maddened Allahu-akbaring rioters.

Preparations for the riots and clashes, the largest seen since the IDF’s “Operation Guardian of the Walls” in the Gaza Strip last May, began on Thursday night and were carried out in the open. The stockpiles of rocks, bottles and explosives should have been confiscated the moment they began to pile up, and the rioters should have been pulled off the Temple Mount before, and not after, the riots began.

There was nothing hidden about the rioters’ plans. The day before the riots started, the weapons – rocks, bottles, explosives — were openly being piled up, ready for use the next day. Israel Hayom’s Nadav Shragai wonders why, at that point, the police did not confiscate those weapons before any of them could be used. Did the police think that if they tried to seize those weapons, the Arabs would certainly respond violently, using whatever weapons they already had in their possession, in order to prevent the whole stockpile from being confiscated? Perhaps the police thought that if they waited, perhaps calmer heads among the Arabs might prevail the next day. Was it worth waiting to see what the Arabs decided? Shragai thinks the police made a mistake, and so do many others in Israel.

But it is difficult to conduct oneself correctly when the public security minister is Labor’s Omer Barlev, and the Muslim Brotherhood’s Ra’am Party, whose members have repeatedly identified with the worst of our enemies, is a coalition partner. Shamefully, it was only hours after the rocks were thrown at the Western Wall that the decision was finally made to act with greater force.

Shragai is contemptuous of Omar Barlev, as are many on the right, for the Minister of Public Security’s expression of concern about “settler violence,” which he has apparently exaggerated – only a few hundred settlers out of 500,000 in Judea and Samaria, after all, have been involved in retaliatory violence against the Palestinians. The power of the Arab Ra’am Party, that has not hesitated to make common cause with Palestinians against their own country, Israel, may also have played a part in delaying a firm reaction to the violence on the Temple Mount by the Israeli police. Hours went by, during which rocks and bottles were continuously thrown on worshipers at the Western Wall, before the police finally went into action to grab, disarm, and arrest the rioters. By that time, the violence had spread all across the Al-Aqsa esplanade, and the greatly outnumbered police were themselves the victims of Arab aggression, dodging rocks and Molotov cocktails, as they attempted to round up the most egregious malefactors.

As always when it comes to the Temple Mount, Jordan has played a double game. This time around, Israel went out of its way to coordinate with the Hashemite Kingdom. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, and Defense Minister Benny Gantz spoke to King Abdullah II and his people before Ramadan even began. The Jordanians were asked to ensure there was no nocturnal barricading inside the mosque. They succeeded at this for a few nights but failed on Thursday night.

Jordan’s King Abdullah is no profile in courage. He wants to keep his throne, and his head, for that matter. He will not do anything that could inflame the more than 60% of the Jordanian population that is Palestinian. He knows that Israel did not start the violence on the Temple Mount, and that the Israelis were perfectly willing to let the Jordanians, because of their role administering the Waqf, do the policing early on, before those intent on rioting had armed themselves. Had Jordanian police arrested a hundred or so Arabs on the Temple Mount on Thursday, after their stockpiling of rocks made their intentions clear, and before they had had a chance to arm themselves, as they did on Friday morning, the crowds might have sullenly dispersed. But Jordan shirked its responsibility. It didn’t want to be seen as keeping the Palestinians on the Temple Mount under control, for fear of how it would be viewed at home.

The Israeli police stationed on the Temple Mount did not “invade” Al-Aqsa. It was those Arab rioters, who stockpiled rocks and other weapons inside the mosque, who were the true invaders, violating the sanctity of the place. It was those Arabs who from the 35-acre esplanade of the Temple Mount, tried to injure or kill, by throwing rocks down on them, the Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall far below. Given that, it is unconscionable for the Israeli police to have waited apparently for several hours before finally acting to push back, and disarm, the rioters.

It is the Jews of Israel who have bent over backward to accommodate the Arabs on the Temple Mount. When Israel took possession of the Temple Mount in June 1967, it might have insisted that Jews be allowed to pray at the holiest site in Judaism. At that point, still staggering from their recent loss, the Arabs would have been unable to oppose Israel’s wishes. Instead, in a move that many Jews have come to regret, the Israeli government. decided that it would prohibit Jews from praying aloud, or even praying silently, on the top of the Temple Mount. That’s how eager the Israelis were not to offend Arabs and Muslims. And Israel went even further. It severely limited the number of religious Jews allowed onto the Mount at any one time. Until 2003, only five – five! – were allowed to visit the Mount. By now, that number is up to 50. Compare that to the unlimited number of Arabs who are allowed on the Temple Mount, sometimes numbering up to 80,000. They can arrive at any time of day, every day of the week. But the Jews can only come, thanks to a decision of the Israelis themselves, during a designated four-hour period each day, and then only for five out of the seven days of the week. How many people around the world, who have been brainwashed by the media to believe that it is the Israelis who are trying to “take over” the Temple Mount, know these things?
