From Sydney to Buenos Aires: Iran's Global Terror Campaign - Majid Rafizadeh

by Majid Rafizadeh

From the 1980s onward. Iran has been implicated in multiple deadly attacks against American troops in Lebanon, killing hundreds of U.S. diplomats and military personnel, all carried out by Hezbollah under Tehran's guidance.

  • Investigations revealed that the IRGC had employed intermediaries in Australia, including organized crime networks, to carry out these attacks, demonstrating the regime's continuing reliance on proxies to pursue its hostile objectives abroad.

  • From the 1980s onward. Iran has been implicated in multiple deadly attacks against American troops in Lebanon, killing hundreds of U.S. diplomats and military personnel, all carried out by Hezbollah under Tehran's guidance.

  • The Iranian regime also had a role in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the US. In 2018, a U.S. federal court ruling determined that Iran provided material support to Al-Qaeda in the period leading up to and following the 9/11 attacks, resulting in a multibillion-dollar judgment for the families of the victims.

  • [I]t is difficult to understand why some international actors have advocated for engagement, negotiation or sanctions relief with Iran. Diplomatic overtures and economic incentives have not only failed to curb the regime's aggressive behavior; they have emboldened it.

  • Closing Iranian embassies and consulates, expelling diplomats, and halting trade with Iran -- and especially secondary sanctions: banning trade with countries that trade with Iran -- would disrupt its operations, curb its influence, and send a message that the regime's pattern of aggression and antisemitism will not be tolerated.

Iran's deep involvement in antisemitic attacks in Australia should serve as a kick-in-the-head wake-up call to the European Union and the wider international community. Australia made the unprecedented decision to expel the Iranian ambassador, Ahmad Sadeghi, the first such diplomatic action in the country since World War II.

This unexpectedly welcome action came after the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation uncovered that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had orchestrated a series of antisemitic attacks on Australian soil. The attacks targeted a kosher restaurant in Sydney and a synagogue in Melbourne, causing significant property damage and sowing fear within the Jewish community, although fortunately nobody was killed in the attacks. Investigations revealed that the IRGC had employed intermediaries in Australia, including organized crime networks, to carry out these attacks, demonstrating the regime's continuing reliance on proxies to pursue its hostile objectives abroad.

Despite Iran's official denial of these allegations -- calling them as baseless and a conspiracy to undermine Iran-Australia relations -- the Australian government stood firm, emphasizing that such acts of terrorism and antisemitism could not be tolerated. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, further solidifying Australia's stance, signaled plans to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization. This move underscores the necessity of a proactive and uncompromising approach to dealing with a regime that consistently operates through violence and intimidation, setting a clear contrast to the more cautious diplomatic engagements often observed from the European Union and the West.

The attacks in Australia are just part of a broader pattern of antisemitism and bellicosity from the Iranian regime against Jewish communities across the world. Iran's belligerency toward Jewish communities extended far beyond its borders. For decades, Iran, using terror and intimidation to advance its ideological agenda. Iran has systematically targeted Jewish institutions and individuals in multiple countries. The 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, killed 85 people. Investigations revealed that Iran directed this attack in coordination with Hezbollah operatives, who carried out the bombing under Tehran's supervision. In 2024, Argentine courts, labeling Iran a terrorist state, reaffirmed its culpability for the 1994 terror attack.

Iran's predations not limited just to antisemitism; they extend broadly to global terrorism They have targeted Americans and other Westerners in foreign countries, from the 1980s onward. Iran has been implicated in multiple deadly attacks against American troops in Lebanon, killing hundreds of U.S. diplomats and military personnel, all carried out by Hezbollah under Tehran's guidance.

The Iranian regime also had a role in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the US. In 2018, a U.S. federal court ruling determined that Iran provided material support to Al-Qaeda in the period leading up to and following the 9/11 attacks, resulting in a multibillion-dollar judgment for the families of the victims.

Iran regularly uses violent tactics abroad to advance its strategic goals, leveraging proxy organizations, so that Iran can maintain plausible deniability.

The regime has also targeted exiled Iranian dissidents in countries such as Iraq and Turkey, and has abducted and assassinated individuals who oppose it.

The regime actively plots terrorist attacks abroad, often leveraging its diplomatic missions as hubs for coordination with proxy groups and intelligence gathering.

Domestically, Iran's record is equally troubling. The regime routinely suppresses its own citizens through brutal measures, which include arbitrary detention, torture and executions, and demonstrates a savage disregard for civil liberties and human life. Human rights organizations have documented instances where even minors have been subjected to violent repression, including hanging children as young as nine (more atrocities here, here and here).

This dual approach — external aggression coupled with domestic repression — demonstrates a regime that thrives on intimidation, using both overt and covert operations to project power and maintain its authoritarian grip, leaving the international community exposed to its persistent threat.

Given Iran's long, documented history of antisemitism, terrorism and domestic repression, it is difficult to understand why some international actors have advocated for engagement, negotiation or sanctions relief with Iran. Diplomatic overtures and economic incentives have not only failed to curb the regime's aggressive behavior; they have emboldened it.

Australia's unequivocal response to Iranian terrorism is instructive. By expelling Iran's ambassador, severing diplomatic ties, and moving toward formally designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization, Australia has set a precedent that European nations and other members of the international community would do well to follow.

Closing Iranian embassies and consulates, expelling diplomats, and halting trade with Iran -- and especially secondary sanctions: banning trade with countries that trade with Iran -- would disrupt its operations, curb its influence, and send a message that the regime's pattern of aggression and antisemitism will not be tolerated.

The Israeli and American airstrikes on Iran's nuclear weapons sites, and now Australia's decisive new stance, demonstrate the path forward: a refusal to tolerate terror by a regime that has brought nothing but suffering and instability, both inside Iran and across the globe.

The IDF struck a building with Hamas infrastructure and surveillance equipment, IDF spokesperson in Arabic Col. Avichay Adraee wrote on X/Twitter on Saturday.

Adraee ordered civilians to evacuate a section of Gaza City earlier on Saturday, advising them to move southwards towards humanitarian zones in Khan Yunis and Al-Mawasi.

In his statement, Adraee detailed measures taken to reduce the possibility of civilian casualties, including the evacuation notices, use of precise striking techniques, and IDF-gathered intelligence.

One of the targets included a high-rise Gaza City tower that the military said was being used by Hamas.

Defense Minister Israel Katz shared a video on X/Twitter of what appeared to be the multi-story building collapsing after the strike, sending a cloud of dust and debris into the air.

The IDF said Hamas used the building to gather intelligence and that explosive devices had been planted nearby. Hamas denied using the building for military purposes, and Palestinians said it had been used to shelter the displaced.

On Friday, the military bombed another high-rise tower that was reported to be used by Hamas.

IDF invades Gaza City

The Saturday strike is part of the military's invasion of Gaza City that began on Friday.

"In the coming days, the IDF will carry out precise, targeted strikes against terrorist infrastructure that poses a direct threat to IDF troops," the military stated ahead of the operation.

In previous weeks, the IDF carried out additional strikes in Gaza, killing prominent Hamas officials such as Hamas spokesperson Abu Obeida.

Last Thursday saw a new photograph that showed Obeida with other Hamas officials who have been killed in the Gaza war. Mohammed Odeh, head of Hamas's Intelligence Staff, is said to be the only one in the photo who hasn't been killed by the IDF during the Israel-Hamas war.

On Sunday, shortly after the killing of Obeida, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir threatened Hamas leaders abroad, saying, "We will reach them too."

Saudi Crown Prince MBS warns that West Bank annexation could end any chance of normalization - KAN - Jerusalem Post Staff

This comes after a similar warning from the UAE, which stated that any annexation would be a red flag that could lead his country to exit the Abraham Accords.

Israel’s annexation of the West Bank would end any chance of normalization, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) said on Saturday, according to a report by Israeli public broadcaster, KAN News.

MBS's comments came during a meeting with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ) in Riyadh, according to the report.

MBZ previously issued a similar warning, stating that any annexation would be a "red flag" that could lead to the Gulf country exiting the Abraham Accords.

The two leaders agreed in Riyadh that if Israel moves forward with West Bank annexation, then withdrawal from the Abraham Accords would be a real possibility, according to a source in the Saudi royal family cited by KAN.

The source added that annexation would also kill the chances of normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia. He further noted that by taking such steps, Israel is playing into the hands of Iran and Hamas, whose interest is to block ties between Israel and Arab states.

UAE, Saudi Arabia push for a Palestinian State

The report also specified how Saudi Arabia’s endgame goal seems to be the recognition of a Palestinian state and a two-state solution to the conflict.

On Wednesday, MBZ wrote on X/Twitter: "In these challenging times, the UAE sends a clear message: annexation is a red line, and peace through a two-state solution must remain the path forward."

The Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and the UAE in 2020, were signed on the basis that Israel would forgo applying sovereignty in the West Bank in exchange for normalized relations.

Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan are also signatories to the accords, which were signed during the first Trump administration.

White House Counsel raises red flags on legality of Biden pardons, urges DOJ and Congress to probe - John Solomon and Nicholas Ballasy

by John Solomon and Nicholas Ballasy

Memo to Trump chief of staff says Biden’s staff secretary was "unsure if the president had actually approved specific individuals for clemency.”

The Trump White House Counsel is raising serious questions about the legality of Joe Biden's final wave of pardons and commutations, urging the Justice Department and Congress to interview the former president's advisors to determine if he truly authorized acts of clemency signed by an autopen operated by staff, according to a memo obtained Saturday by Just the News.

"We believe that answering the questions above requires interviewing those involved," White House Counsel David Warrington wrote in a memo to President Donald Trump's Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. "As the WHC does not have the authority to conduct interviews, we recommend that you approve making the information contained in this memorandum and the supporting materials available to entities that do have that power.

"By sharing this information with the Department of Justice and the United States Congress, we will be able to assist their investigations and provide much needed transparency to the American people," the memo added.

Just the News recently reported on bombshell internal White House memos that showed Biden had outsourced clemency decisions to then-Vice President Kamala Harris and allowed staff to use an autopen on late-term pardons even though staff believed at the beginning of his presidency that he needed to personally sign by hand such actions.

The Warrington memo also called into question Biden's claim to The New York Times this summer that the use of autopen was necessary due to the large number of individuals who received a pardon or clemency at the end of his presidency.

"This argument would make sense if, for example, President Biden was signing commutations or pardons for each individual receiving clemency. In reality, the materials drafted by Biden White House staffers contained lengthy lists of names and required only a few presidential autopens. The December 2024 commutation of nearly 1,500 individuals serving home confinement required only one signature," the memo stated.

"The January 2025 commutation of nearly 2,500 individuals for crack-powder sentencing disparities required only three signatures. WHC does not raise this solely because of President Biden’s obvious falsehood. Whether done for simplicity or due to President Biden’s diminished faculties, the practice of structuring pardons or commutations so that the fewest number of signatures would be needed created several problems," the WHC wrote in the memo.

According to the memo, the White House Counsel found that Biden's staff secretary was "unsure if the president had actually approved specific individuals for clemency" and that staffers could "add or subtract clemency recipients after President Biden’s alleged approval."

The memo said that "broad language meant violent criminals would be released" and broad language "would cause confusion for officials at DOJ responsible for processing pardons or clemency."

In the memo, the WHC said it found out that a Biden staffer said the president did not read the "warrants for pardons or commutations."

According to the memo, some of the questions the office wants Biden officials to answer include:

  • "If President Biden made every clemency decision, then why do his briefing books from December 2024 and January 2025 contain nothing of substance on the pardons or commutations he allegedly approved?"
  • "If the President approved a pardon or commutation, why did staff often wait days before communicating the decision to anyone?"
  • "Were staffers to Chief of Staff Jeff Zients and Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Bruce Reed sending emails on their behalf regarding pardons or other issues without informing recipients?"
  • "If President Biden was mentally fit to serve as President, why did he need cheat sheets explaining that he had approved commutations for 1,500 people or a pardon for his own son?"
  • "If a memo authorizing widespread autopen usage was written before President Biden was inaugurated, was staff already questioning his fitness to serve?"

Hundreds arrested protesting British ban on Palestine Action - Israel National News

by Israel National News

More than 300 arrests were made at a protest in London demanding that the British government rescind measures against the group Palestine Action.

More than 300 people were arrested on Saturday at what has become the largest demonstration to date against the UK government’s proscription of the activist group Palestine Action, according to The Guardian..

According to organisers Defend Our Juries, approximately 1,500 people gathered in Parliament Square, many holding signs reading: “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.” The demonstration follows a similar protest last month, which saw 532 arrests.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrests in a statement issued at 7:48pm, citing “a range of offences, including assault on a police officer and expressing support for a proscribed organisation.” Earlier in the day, police alleged that there had been a “coordinated effort to prevent officers carrying out their duties,” and described facing “an exceptional level of abuse, including punches, kicks, spitting, and objects being thrown.”

Organisers disputed these claims, accusing officers of violently targeting peaceful demonstrators — including elderly participants — in an effort to criminalise dissent. Defend Our Juries shared video footage showing police shoving protesters to the ground, and said: “Despite Mark Rowley insisting the police could and would arrest everyone who opposed the ban, it would take them another 36 hours at this rate. Yvette Cooper launched the biggest attack on our civil liberties in living memory — and it has backfired spectacularly. Now she’s no longer home secretary, the ban must go with her.”

They called on the new home secretary to immediately repeal the proscription, arguing that the ban is unworkable and a gross misuse of anti-terror legislation: “These laws were never meant to target peaceful protest or arrest thousands for holding cardboard signs.”

Though mostly peaceful, the protest saw moments of chaos. In the early afternoon, several people were knocked over in a crush as tensions flared on the western side of the park. Officers drew batons, forcibly moved through the crowds, and carried detained protesters away. At one point, water was thrown at police. One demonstrator was seen with blood on his face, and multiple people were knocked to the ground.

Chants of “shame on you” rang out as officers placed two elderly protesters using mobility scooters into police vans.

Many protesters deliberately withheld personal information to overwhelm police processing systems and slow mass arrests. Among them was Steve Masters, 55, a former RAF aircraft technician wearing his four service medals. “I oppose genocide and the government’s overreach in banning Palestine Action,” he said. “They’ve lowered the bar on what constitutes terrorism to the point of absurdity. Damaging property is not the same as harming people — it’s not terrorism.”

Judith Gradwell, 80, also joined the protest, carrying a packed lunch in preparation for arrest. “It doesn’t matter — I’ve got my sandwiches in my backpack,” she said. “You’d think after the Iraq war, the government would listen more to the people on the streets.” A lifelong protester, she marched against the Vietnam War in the 1970s. “I thought the world would be a better place by now. It’s worse.”

Anne Karpf, whose family survived the Holocaust and Russian labour camps, stood nearby under a banner reading “Holocaust survivor descendants against Gaza genocide.” Though unable to participate fully due to caring responsibilities, she expressed solidarity with the demonstrators. “I feel pretty certain my parents would be horrified by what is being done in their name,” she said, calling the proscription an “outrageous curtailment of civil liberties.”

Amnesty International condemned the police response. Kerry Moscogiuri, the group’s director of campaigns, said the arrests signal “something is going very wrong here in the UK.”

“Let’s be clear — treating people peacefully holding signs as terrorists is disproportionate to the point of absurdity,” she said. “Freedom of expression and peaceful assembly are protected rights. Criminalising speech is only lawful when it incites violence or hatred. Expressing support for Palestine Action does not meet that threshold.”

Among the returning protesters was Mike Higgins, 62, a blind man who uses a wheelchair. His arrest at the previous demonstration was viewed by millions on social media. He returned Saturday to protest again.

“The state’s efforts to ban Palestine Action are a complete waste of time — for taxpayers, for police resources, and most importantly for Palestine,” he said. “This is what it’s really about — standing up for the people of Palestine."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described the city as a Hamas stronghold that must be captured to defeat the terrorist organization.

The Israeli military on Saturday urged Gaza City residents to evacuate and head south as its troops continue their advance in the area.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described the city as a Hamas stronghold that must be captured to defeat the terrorist organization.

The United States, the European Union, Canada and others have designated Hamas as a terrorist group.

The Israeli military said on Thursday it had control of about half of the city and approximately 75% of Gaza, according to Reuters.

It Is Time to Sell Public Broadcasting’s Airwaves - Thaddeus G. McCotter

by Thaddeus G. McCotter

Auctioning PBS’s taxpayer-owned spectrum could raise billions to cut debt and ensure the left’s bureaucratic horror show doesn’t return for a sequel.

In old 1980s horror movies, a knife-wielding, flannel-wearing serial killer is routinely killed—until he or she isn’t, and the franchise inexorably moves on to “Slasher the Sequel: This Time It’s Worse than Personal.”

I recall such mythic movie murderers not as a (literally) dead-end jaunt down memory lane but as a cautionary tale for Republicans and, indeed, all who hope to see the recent significant reductions in federal spending and, concomitantly, cuts in the administrative state’s bureaucracy to be made permanent. (The image of Elon Musk—the DOGE—clad in black and waving “the chainsaw for bureaucracy” is an irony worthy of the auteurs of the old French Nouvelle Vague.) Bluntly, these eliminations and reductions must be a solid first step—not an ephemeral swan song—in the effort to restore the primacy of citizens over their servant government.

Unless supporters of citizen-driven, responsive government pursue a vigilant, assiduous salting of the fields of the debilitated Deep State, the left—like Jason Voorhees and his homicidal celluloid ilk—will not only resurrect its administrative state Leviathan, but it will also expand its scope and control over the American people.

As it stands, our national debt is nearly $40 trillion. There are additional steps that President Trump and his administration can and must take to generate non-taxpayer revenue that can help address our crushing national debt.

Consider the case of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and the Public Broadcasting System (PBS), and the next necessary step in ensuring the left cannot resurrect this outdated dinosaur from history’s dumpster.

President Trump needs to call for the development and, ultimately, sign an executive order directing the FCC to begin the process of working with Congress to sell at auction the radio and television spectrum currently being used by public broadcasting stations across the country. Logically, if the federal government no longer funds CPB or PBS—and neither entity is willing to adjust its programming to meet its public service requirements—they no longer require or deserve this radio and TV spectrum.

Public broadcasters receive licenses to use the spectrum from the FCC in exchange for fulfilling certain public-interest obligations, which include informing, educating, and enriching the public. This deal for locally owned public radio and TV stations may have been helpful to the American public sixty years ago, prior to the advent of cable TV and wired and wireless broadband.

Today’s media landscape, however, is far more competitive, with Americans having more educational and news options than anyone could have imagined even twenty years ago. Indeed, the rationale that for-profit broadcasters would not air educational or “cultural” events due to low ratings and lack of advertisers has long been remedied by the internet. Today, if one wants to watch a clip of Vladimir Horowitz playing Chopin, one needs only go—at no cost—to YouTube.

In the wake of the modern communications revolution, the greatest public service that federal spectrum can provide is the tens of billions in revenue to help cut the federal debt. Over the past decade, auctions of TV and radio spectrum have generated more than $100 billion in revenue. And because the spectrum used by public broadcasters is owned by the federal government, no revenue would have to be shared with any private entity. The math is elementary: the public owns the spectrum, and so the spectrum should be used to pay off the massive national debt incurred in the people’s name.

As a practical matter, the spectrum most likely would be purchased at auction by mobile communications or other innovative companies seeking to meet demand by consumers for wireless technologies. Some may argue that the public broadcasters currently using this spectrum serve Americans in rural areas without wired broadband or with poor wireless connectivity. However, the past few auctions sold off prime spectrum that enabled 5G mobile broadband innovations, ones that greatly expanded access for video streaming and high-speed broadband on mobile devices. Thus, the federally owned public broadcasting spectrum will help consumers—be they rural or urban—to access the very services and content some claim they cannot today.

The CPB and PBS are currently seeking private funds and nonprofit donations to maintain operations. This is doubtless an attempt to stave off elimination until the left can return to power and ride to their rescue. And, even without federal funding for their programs, they will continue producing the same leftist propaganda pretending to be “news” and “commentary” or recycling British TV shows that most Americans can watch on multiple streaming platforms or on the Internet. Either way, these erstwhile federally funded entities should not be allowed to use the spectrum owned by the American taxpayer for profit or to share misinformation and leftist propaganda that mislead the American public and create division in our society.

Spectrum is a limited and valuable resource. It should not be wasted on institutions that have little interest in supporting the interests of all Americans. The left’s caterwauling against such a proposed auctioning of the spectrum only evidences their selfish pursuit of power. In truth, auctioning off the spectrum is the one way for all Americans to benefit from this situation.

Therefore, for the good of Americans’ financial security and intellectual liberty, it is time for the Trump Administration and the FCC to begin the process of working with Congress to sell off publicly owned spectrum to reduce our national debt. It is not hyperbole to assert this process must start now: it takes time for the FCC to work with other agencies to do all the technical work required to prepare the spectrum auction—sometimes five or more years.

And that is more than enough time for the left to try to breathe life back into the once-thought-defunct denizens of their administrative state. It’s best to make sure there can be no sequel to their bureaucratic horror show.

Bangladesh Racing Toward a Caliphate - Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury

by Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury

In 2020, Sam Westrop documented in the Middle East Quarterly that millions of federal taxpayer dollars have flowed to US-based Islamist groups with alleged terror connections — a trend that continued even during the first Trump administration: "...USAID openly urges Americans to donate to terror-linked charities such as LIFE for Relief and Development..."

  • In an unprecedented escalation of Islamist persecution, Jamaat-e-Islami — the Bangladeshi ideological offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) — has begun imposing the jizya tax on Hindus and other non-Muslims, openly declaring its intent to replace the country's secular democratic framework with Islamic sharia law.

  • Backed by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, and linked to global jihadist networks, including Al Qaeda, Jamaat-e-Islami's move comes just months after a coup that brought Muhammad Yunus to power, triggering a rapid rise in radical Islamic influence. This development threatens not only Bangladesh's fragile democracy but also poses a strategic security risk to South Asia and the wider free world.

  • In the United States, Jamaat-e-Islami maintains deep ties with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA). According to the Observer Research Foundation, these organizations have succeeded in securing funding from U.S. federal agencies — particularly USAID, the Department of Agriculture, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

  • In 2020, Sam Westrop documented in the Middle East Quarterly that millions of federal taxpayer dollars have flowed to US-based Islamist groups with alleged terror connections — a trend that continued even during the first Trump administration: "A variety of other dangerous Islamist groups continue to enjoy government approval and partnership. USAID openly urges Americans to donate to terror-linked charities such as LIFE for Relief and Development..."

  • Under interim head of government Muhammad Yunus, radical Islamist groups have grown emboldened, openly pushing for the transformation of the country into a theocratic state.

  • This vacuum has allowed ISIS and Al-Qaeda to expand their regional presence. Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, seeing a "golden opportunity", has intensified its subversive operations in both Bangladesh and other neighboring countries.

  • This development is not just a domestic issue — it is a warning to the world about the resurgence of militant Islamism in South Asia.

In an unprecedented escalation of Islamist persecution, Jamaat-e-Islami — the Bangladeshi ideological offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood — has begun imposing the jizya tax on Hindus and other non-Muslims, openly declaring its intent to replace the country's secular democratic framework with Islamic sharia law. In an unprecedented escalation of Islamist persecution, Jamaat-e-Islami — the Bangladeshi ideological offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) — has begun imposing the jizya tax on Hindus and other non-Muslims, openly declaring its intent to replace the country's secular democratic framework with Islamic sharia law.

Backed by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, and linked to global jihadist networks, including Al Qaeda, Jamaat-e-Islami's move comes just months after a coup that brought Muhammad Yunus to power, triggering a rapid rise in radical Islamic influence. This development threatens not only Bangladesh's fragile democracy but also poses a strategic security risk to South Asia and the wider free world.

On July 25, 2025, local media reported that Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, president of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, publicly declared that Hindus and other non-Muslims must pay the jizya tax. According to one report from July 31:

"Non-Muslims living in Bangladesh should be made to pay the 'Jizya tax'. Since Muslims pay 'Zakat' (A portion of their wealth donated for religious purposes), if equal rights are desired, then Hindus should pay the Jizya. This is what is correct as per Sharia law, said a leader of the political party Jamaat-e-Islami in a public gathering."

The jizya is a tax historically imposed on non-Muslims in Islamic states and empires, as a symbol of subjugation and second-class status. Its collection in present-day Bangladesh marks a dangerous shift from the country's secular founding principles toward a theocratic order.

Global context: Muslim Brotherhood under scrutiny

On July 16, US Senator Ted Cruz introduced the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act of 2025, aimed at designating the MB as a foreign terrorist organization. This move, if passed, would have major implications for groups tied to the MB worldwide, including Jamaat-e-Islami.

However, security experts caution that such a designation, while significant, would not automatically halt the MB's global expansion. The organization has proven adept at using political, financial and social fronts to continue its influence covertly.

Jamaat-e-Islami's troubled past and international ties

Jamaat-e-Islami sided with Pakistan in Bangladesh's 1971 war of independence, the organization actively collaborating with the Pakistani military during the genocide of Bengali civilians. Today, the organization enjoys continued patronage from Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, as well as various Islamist and jihadist organizations.

In the United States, Jamaat-e-Islami maintains deep ties with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA). According to the Observer Research Foundation, these organizations have succeeded in securing funding from U.S. federal agencies — particularly USAID, the Department of Agriculture, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

In 2020, Sam Westrop documented in the Middle East Quarterly that millions of federal taxpayer dollars have flowed to US-based Islamist groups with alleged terror connections — a trend that continued even during the first Trump administration:

"A variety of other dangerous Islamist groups continue to enjoy government approval and partnership. USAID openly urges Americans to donate to terror-linked charities such as LIFE for Relief and Development, the target of multiple federal terror finance investigations, which led to several convictions of its officials. USAID also encourages donations to the Zakat Foundation of America, a charity that funds groups in Gaza linked to Hamas and is closely tied to the Islamist Turkish regime and to Islamic Relief, the flagship financial institution of the global Muslim Brotherhood.

"Islamic Relief is the largest Muslim charity in the Western world. Yet it has been banned in the United Arab Emirates, Israel, and regions of Bangladesh where Rohingya refugees live because of its reported radicalization efforts. It has also been named a leading Islamist institution by German and Swedish officials. Yet Islamic Relief still enjoys a close relationship with various components of the U.S. government. Both the Department of Agriculture and the Federal Emergency Management Agency list it as a partner. In May, USAID hosted Islamic Relief for an iftar meal. And in 2018, Acting Assistant Attorney General John Gore agreed to be the guest of honor at an Islamic Relief reception on Capitol Hill.

Other endorsements of Islamist groups announced by federal bodies include the terror-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which was established as part of a Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas network in the United States, and the Islamic Circle of North America, which is linked to the violent South Asian Islamist movement Jamaat-e-Islami. In addition, officials at one of CAIR's most extreme branches, CAIR-Florida, have been meeting Department of Justice and DHS officials."

Bangladesh's dangerous turn toward theocracy

Since last year's regime change coup, Bangladesh's secular political foundations have been eroding rapidly. Under interim head of government Muhammad Yunus, radical Islamist groups have grown emboldened, openly pushing for the transformation of the country into a theocratic state.

This vacuum has allowed ISIS and Al-Qaeda to expand their regional presence. Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, seeing a "golden opportunity", has intensified its subversive operations in both Bangladesh and other neighboring countries.

In recent months, Al-Qaeda operatives and other Islamist extremists have increased their activities in Bangladesh. Last week, Ziaul Huq Zia — a notorious Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist and one of the US State Department's most wanted fugitives — openly called for establishing offices of terrorist movements from Manipur, Khalistan, and Kashmir inside Bangladesh.

Zia, believed to have secretly returned to Bangladesh after last year's jihadist-backed coup, made his statement in a Facebook post. Strangely, shortly after his post was publicized, the US State Department's website quietly removed its announcement of a $5 million bounty on him.

The alarming implications

The imposition of the jizya tax by Jamaat-e-Islami is not an isolated incident. It is a clear signal that Bangladesh's religious minorities are being systematically targeted under a creeping Sharia-based agenda. This action not only violates the secular principles enshrined in Bangladesh's 1972 Constitution, but also undermines international human rights norms.

The silence of Bangladesh's current interim government on this matter raises troubling questions: Is this the beginning of state-sanctioned religious persecution in Bangladesh? And if so, how far will it go before the international community intervenes?

If the jizya tax collection is allowed to continue unchecked, Bangladesh risks sliding into a medieval-style religious apartheid, where Hindus, Christians, Buddhists and other non-Muslim minorities are reduced to second-class citizens in their own country. This development is not just a domestic issue — it is a warning to the world about the resurgence of militant Islamism in South Asia. The international community, particularly democratic nations that value religious freedom, must act decisively before Bangladesh becomes yet another cautionary tale of a secular state devoured by theocratic extremism.

Georgia Gov. Kemp sending 316 National Guard members to Washington, D.C. - Kim Jarrett

by Kim Jarrett

The deployment includes 300 soldiers and 16 support staff, the governor's office said in a release.

(The Center Square) -

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said Friday he is sending 316 members of the National Guard to Washington to support President Donald Trump's declaration of a crime emergency in the nation's capital.

The deployment includes 300 soldiers and 16 support staff, the governor's office said in a release.

"Georgia is proud to stand with the Trump administration in its mission to ensure the security and beauty of our nation's capital," Kemp said. "We share a commitment to upholding public safety and are grateful to these brave Guardsmen and women, for the families that support them, and for their dedication to service above self. As they have demonstrated again and again, our Georgia Guard is well equipped to fulfill both this mission and its obligations to the people of our state."

Trump declared a national crime emergency in Washington on Aug. 11, saying the district has “crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor and worse," according to previous reports.

Eight states have sent a combined 1,338 National Guard members to Washington, according to the District of Columbia National Guard website. West Virginia has sent the most guard members -418, followed by South Carolina (263), Mississippi (182), and Tennessee (170). The District of Columbia has 952 members as part of the mission, according to the website.

Georgia's National Guard members are also working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement but this deployment is separate, Kemp said. The guard members working with ICE are not armed and perform administrative and logistical tasks, according to the governor.

Sen. Kenya Wicks, D-Fayette, a retired Army officer, called the mobilization of the guard to help ICE a "dangerous precedent."

"Georgia’s National Guard should not be deployed to carry out a political agenda in a nation known for welcoming immigrants and offering them the prospect of freedom and opportunity," Wicks said. "The Guard’s oath remains the same: to defend our nation against foreign and domestic threats and to respond in times of true emergency. Using them against immigrant families is a misuse of military force that tears at the fabric of who we are as a nation."

New Cancer Treatment Protocol: A Success! - Stu Cvrk

by Stu Cvrk

A groundbreaking hybrid protocol using repurposed drugs and nutrients left one man cancer-free after Stage 4 prostate cancer—at a fraction of standard treatment costs.

In 2023, according to the US Centers for Disease Control, 613,349 Americans died of cancer. That number is projected to increase to over 618,000 this year. As a result, medical research has been focused on the development of cancer treatment protocols for decades for all types of cancer.

The National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Trials Support Unit (CTSU) and the National Institute of Health’s ClinicalTrials.gov website list hundreds of active protocols, with 457 NCI-supported protocols noted in clinical trial databases for various cancer types and stages.

For example, there are approximately a dozen known treatment protocols for Stage 4 prostate cancer that focus on managing the disease since it is considered to be incurable. For context, the American Cancer Society’s estimates for prostate cancer in the US for 2025 are about 313,780 new cases and about 35,770 projected deaths.

Medical researchers are continually developing potentially breakthrough cancer protocols. This is the true story of one man’s experience with a new protocol that exploits repurposed drugs.

THE PATIENT

Mr. Jeffrey Kramer of Shelby, Ohio, retired as a plaintiff’s civil fraud attorney in 2024 after he was diagnosed with metastasized Stage 4 prostate cancer that had spread into his hip bones, lumbar spine, and inguinal lymph nodes. His Cleveland Clinic oncologist had advised him that the cancer was incurable but probably manageable for a (short) time using testosterone suppressant drugs (leuprolide injections and apalutamide pills) until his body ceased being “hormone sensitive,” at which point he would decline from there.

The side effects of that drug combo would be substantial—and potentially mortal. Most significant was that the leuprolide injection(s) would assuredly demineralize his bones at a high rate (up to 11% per year), leading to hip fracture(s) and loss of mobility.

This was Mr. Kramer’s second bout with serious cancer, as in 2010, he had undergone surgery, then three months of combined chemotherapy and radiation therapy for tonsil cancer that had incapacitated him for a year before he was able to resume his law practice.

Last fall, Mr. Kramer received information about a new cancer protocol that would change his life.

THE PROTOCOL

A new peer-reviewed cancer protocol authored by a team of sixteen cancer doctors and medical researchers from the US and several other nations was published in the September 2024 Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine, titled “Targeting the Mitochondrial-Stem Cell Connection in Cancer Treatment: A Hybrid Orthomolecular Protocol.” Its authors were prominent in oncology, and the published protocol was heavily footnoted to 204 medical studies documenting in vivo and in vitro safe and successful use of each and every element of the protocol. The authors of many of the referenced studies are at the top of their profession, i.e., well-known, highly published doctors and medical research professionals.

Here is an excerpt from the abstract that explains the science (not for the non-technical among us!):

The cancer paradigm is generally based on the somatic mutation model, asserting that cancer is a disease of genetic origin. The mitochondrial-stem cell connection (MSCC) proposes that tumorigenesis may result from an alteration of the mitochondria, specifically a chronic oxidative phosphorylation (OxPhos) insufficiency in stem cells, which forms cancer stem cells (CSCs) and leads to malignancy. Reviewed evidence suggests that the MSCC could provide a comprehensive understanding of all the different stages of cancer.

From the research presented in the paper, a hybrid orthomolecular protocol was developed that relies upon six elements (or “molecules”):

[1] a therapeutic ketogenic diet high in fats and protein but low in carbs.

[2] moderate exercise (aerobic heart rate) for 45-75 minutes three times a week, such as cycling, running, swimming, etc.

[3] high-dose (non-toxic level) vitamin C by IV, PICC, or port three times a week.

[4] ivermectin daily at a proven safe dosage.

[5] fenbendazole (or mebendazole) daily at a proven safe dosage.

[6] daily vitamin/mineral supplements of safe levels of vitamin D, vitamin K2, zinc, magnesium, and potassium, with a lab test every two weeks to monitor liver and kidney function and potassium and vitamin D levels for safety.

ADMINISTERING AND MONITORING THE PROTOCOL

After carefully reading that report in the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine, Mr. Kramer contacted three of the U.S./Canadian doctors who were co-authors of the protocol. Because the protocol had not yet been approved for clinical trials and therefore was not FDA approved, they explained that they could not provide assistance without risking discipline, including potential loss of license to practice medicine, by their state/province medical boards. In response to a question about when a clinical trial for this protocol would be approved, their answers were consistent: it typically would take ten to twenty years to get a clinical trial approved, especially where no Big Pharma company would have a profit interest to lobby for a clinical trial of a protocol involving repurposed/off-patent drugs.

Pierrick Martinez, of the Association Cancer et Métabolisme in Nimes, France, a medical researcher and lead author of the protocol, was then contacted by Mr. Kramer. He agreed to provide “long-distance assistance” and supervised administering the entire 15-week protocol, including corresponding with the nurse practitioner who administered the megadose vitamin C intravenous infusions that were one part of the protocol and answering numerous questions along the way. A licensed nutritionist at a Cleveland Clinic oncology center in Mansfield, Ohio, was consulted for advice on how to implement the therapeutic ketogenic diet that was another part of the protocol.

Mr. Kramer completed the 15-week hybrid orthomolecular protocol on June 5, 2025, with no side effects whatsoever. Two weeks later, he received an FDG-PET scan at AVITA Hospital in Galion, Ohio. The radiologist’s report that followed showed no evidence of any active cancer anywhere in his body—not in his head, hip bones, lumbar spine, chest, or lymph glands; nothing—no active cancer anywhere. In fact, it took the radiologist almost a full week to issue that report, for the PET scan was ordered to evaluate metastatic prostate cancer, deemed to be an incurable condition.

Perhaps most amazing, the total cost of the medicines, dietary vitamin/mineral supplements, and vitamin C infusions of this protocol was less than $20,000—a fraction of the cost of even one month’s expense for the cancer “management” medications that a Cleveland Clinic oncologist had previously prescribed as “the standard of care” for cancer treatment.

A mere $20,000 to stave off debilitating cancer and certain death was more than a bargain; it was a godsend to Mr. Kramer.

A very important note: the Hybrid Orthomolecular Protocol was not developed specifically for treating prostate cancer, but rather for treating cancers in general. More specifically, Mr. Kramer’s first treatment for tonsil cancer significantly diminished his immune system such that he was advised that he would be progressively more vulnerable to follow-on cancers like prostate cancer, and this, of course, is what happened. Since he was cured by this protocol, others with immune systems damaged from conventional cancer treatment regimens could likely benefit from it as well.

CONCLUDING THOUGHTS

One man was cured of his Stage 4 prostate cancer through the supervised administration of a new cancer protocol that featured the inexpensive repurposed drugs ivermectin and fenbendazole— “A Hybrid Orthomolecular Protocol.” Was this a one-time miracle or a repeatable protocol that may help other cancer sufferers who are without hope?

Regardless, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services should expedite human trials for this protocol while publicizing this particular result and allowing other cancer sufferers to receive these treatments under the supervision of healthcare professionals. After all, what do they have to lose? Label this procedure as “experimental” if necessary, with the appropriate legal disclaimers, but the US government should not stand in the way of a potentially life-saving cancer protocol.

Israel Is not committing genocide: Exposing the distortion of law and truth - opinion - Arsen Ostrovsky, John Spencer

by Arsen Ostrovsky, John Spencer

Despite repeated accusations, Israel’s actions in Gaza do not meet the legal definition of genocide and reflect self-defense, not intent to destroy a people.

As day follows night, recycled accusations of “genocide” are once again being directed at Israel by activists who present themselves as scholars.

This time, the charge comes from the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS), a group that appears more concerned with ideology than with preserving academic standards.

Although we come from different professional backgrounds, one being a human rights lawyer and the other a military expert, we both reach the same clear conclusion. Israel is not committing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

We have each spent years working in international law and military affairs. Together, we have visited Gaza, led soldiers in combat, interviewed commanders and troops, toured aid distribution centers and reviewed military orders. Based on this experience, the claim of genocide is not only inaccurate. It distorts the truth and plays directly into the hands of Hamas.

The IAGS resolution itself demonstrates how weak the accusation is. Fewer than 20 percent of members voted for it. Anyone can join the group by paying a 30-dollar fee, and no academic qualifications are required. Some registered members use parody names, including “Mo Cookie,” “Emperor Palpatine,” and “Adolf Hitler of Gaza City.” The fact that such unserious processes can lead to a formal accusation should render the resolution meaningless. Even so, the media and public figures around the world have rushed to repeat the claim.

According to the 1948 Genocide Convention, genocide is a defined legal term. It refers to actions intended to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group. The most important factor is intent. This element, known in legal terms as dolus specialis, means a specific and deliberate aim to bring about the destruction of a group. The threshold for this crime is intentionally set very high. If intent is missing, then even the most severe acts of violence fall under other legal categories such as war crimes or crimes against humanity.

Nothing we have seen in Gaza meets this legal standard. The fighting is severe and tragic. However, it is a war that Israel is conducting in self-defense and in line with the laws of armed conflict. Hamas carried out the most lethal massacre of Jews since the Holocaust on October 7, 2023, and its leaders have promised to repeat the attack again and again. The group also continues to hold dozens of hostages.

Israel has never aimed to eliminate the Palestinian population. Its objective is to dismantle the military and governing structure of Hamas, to prevent future attacks, and to return the hostages safely. Israeli officials have consistently explained that the war is being fought against Hamas and not against the people of Gaza. These statements have been repeated multiple times but are often dismissed by critics without serious engagement.

Hardships of war don't equate to genocide

Since there is no evidence of genocidal intent, those making the accusation focus instead on the effects of the war. They point to civilian deaths, damaged infrastructure, and humanitarian needs. They argue that these outcomes prove genocide. But that is not how international law works. If damage and suffering were enough to establish genocide, then almost every war in history would qualify. Such reasoning empties the word of meaning.

The suffering of civilians in Gaza is real. The primary cause is Hamas, which deliberately places weapons and fighters in homes, schools, hospitals and mosques. This use of civilians as shields is a direct violation of international law and it shapes the nature of combat in urban areas.

Israel, in contrast, has taken extensive measures to reduce harm to civilians. These steps include early warnings, phone calls, leaflet drops, humanitarian corridors and cancellation of air strikes when civilians are identified in the target area.

At the same time, Israel has facilitated a large volume of humanitarian assistance. More than two million tons of supplies have entered Gaza since October 7. These include food, medicine, fuel and clean water. Israeli authorities have helped vaccinate children in Gaza, deliver medical equipment, restore water systems and enable the delivery of fuel to hospitals.

All of this has taken place while Hamas continues to fire rockets, govern territory and hold hostages. No modern military conflict offers a similar example of humanitarian access under these conditions.

On the battlefield, Israel has exercised restraint. The Israel Defense Forces have used guided weapons, cancelled attacks when civilians were nearby and deployed ground forces at great risk to their own soldiers in order to avoid civilian casualties. These actions contradict any suggestion of genocidal intent.

Real genocides involve the systematic destruction of a people. These crimes occurred in Rwanda in 1994, in Srebrenica in 1995, in Darfur in the early 2000s and during the campaign of the Islamic State against the Yazidi community. Suggesting that Gaza belongs in the same category is both inaccurate and disrespectful to the victims of those atrocities.

Using the word “genocide” as a political weapon is not a harmless act. It is part of a wider campaign of legal and political warfare designed to isolate Israel and protect Hamas from scrutiny. When the most serious crime in international law is wrongly applied to Israel, it weakens trust in international institutions and provides cover for those who have actually declared their aim to destroy.

Words matter. So does law. Genocide is not a term to be used carelessly. Misusing it in this context dishonors the victims of real genocide and undermines the legal structures that exist to protect vulnerable populations around the world.

Arsen Ostrovsky is an Israeli-based human rights lawyer, CEO of the International Legal Forum, and a senior fellow at the Misgav Institute for National Security.

John Spencer is the executive director of the Urban Warfare Institute and co-author of Understanding Urban Warfare.
