A political pathway for the Right, nearly as open as Biden’s border
The horror of America’s open border recently struck Bemidji, Minnesota. That town is about as far from the U.S. Southern border as you can get in the contiguous US; it lies north of Duluth, Minnesota and not far from Canada.
Tragically, at least one young girl was brutally sexually assaulted in a house full of illegal migrants who crossed over Biden’s porous border. In response, the U.S. Representative for Bemidji, Pete Stauber, sent a warning to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, indicting the globalists’ destruction of American sovereignty. Congressman Stauber wrote: “The unspeakable violence in Bemidji perpetrated against at least one eleven-year-old girl…demonstrates your [DHS] complete failure to follow the laws of this country.”
Such incidents are hardly rare as over 8 million illegal migrants have now trespassed into America since Biden entered the White House, and this August marked the highest monthly total ever for “family units” bull rushing the border, despite intense summer heat, across the U.S.-Mexico demarcation line. I outlined these risks in a recent Cortes “Chalk Talk.”
But, there are signs that even the radical Democrats awaken to the political risks of these reckless and highly unpopular policies. Perhaps, the more seasoned political strategists of the ruling class assert some semblance of control over radical office holders, especially on issues related to the teeming border, which must worry party operatives into the 2024 elections.
Most importantly, just last week, Biden’s own DHS reversed itself on a major symbolic and practical measure of U.S. sovereignty, and announced plans to build more border walling.
Build the wall! For reals.
Of course, previously, Biden had steadfastly promised to ignore his duties to protect America, declaring to leftist, taxpayer-funded NPR that “there will not be another foot of wall constructed under my administration.” But then, the Biden DHS completely reversed course and officially announced last week that “there is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States.”
So, suddenly, the wall advocated by the American populist nationalists became a priority for Biden and his allies as they head into an election year full of open borders-induced chaos in America. Reactions from media and interest groups were swift and mostly predictable. The New York Post’s famously sharp-edged headline writers observed that “Blockhead Wakes Up,” seen here:

The radicals at the ACLU took umbrage at this reversal from their normally-predictable fellow traveler, Joe Biden, assailing his move as “a profound betrayal.”
Despite some subsequent efforts by Biden and allies to obscure and confuse citizens on the major policy reversal, the political reality practically screams out to activists and candidates on the political Right: this issue is a massive winner for patriotic populism into 2024.
As David Marcus astutely opined in the Daily Mail, “After years of shamelessly smearing Republicans as racist Neanderthals for daring to suggest that a physical barrier may stem the raging migrant crisis, President Biden is – all of the sudden – building the wall.”
Boom. There it is. A political pathway nearly as open as Biden’s border. These kinds of issues – and this kind of blatant hypocrisy – comprise electoral manna from heaven, and every candidate on the Right must capitalize.
How?
Keep the messaging tight. First, focus on the street dangers that already exist from the madness of opening our border to millions of unvetted young men who enter our homeland. Name-and-shame Democrats as responsible for these preventable crimes – from lower levels quality of life offenses, like the migrant vagrants who harass women passing by shelters in Chicago, to the more vicious assaults like the tragedy in Bemidji.
Second, make the economic case that the flood of illegal aliens makes an already brutal economy for working-class citizens even worse. The housing market is key here. According to Goldman Sachs, housing affordability just hit the worst levels ever in America.
Does it seem like a good time to flood our country with millions more uninvited, illegal arrivals who need housing, often at taxpayer cost?
In addition, the inflation conflagration that began with the 2020 lockdowns and vaulted higher under Biden saps American workers of the fruits of their labor. For a record 24 straight months, Real Wages (meaning pay adjusted for inflation) crashed lower under Biden.
Here is the relevant chart, showing inflation outpacing wages for most of 2021, all of 2022, and into 2023:

As Americans work harder to get poorer, is it sound policy to allow – and even incentivize – millions of new illegal workers to compete against American citizens in the job market?
The Biden border crisis inflicts untold harm on America, and should be roundly disparaged. It also presents incredible political opportunity for law-and-order realists and patriotic believers in American exceptionalism and sovereignty. Enough of foreign flag-carrying trespassers disrespecting our country.
Even the Democrats seem to grasp this glaring weakness, which explains Biden’s total reversal on a border wall. We patriotic populists can protect America, places like Bemidji, Minnesota, while reaping the political benefits. Let’s get to work…
