It’s not because the LGBTQers fleeing the south for Seattle are violent, it’s because—as is the case for illegal immigrants across America—they’re expensive.
I first saw Seattle when I was a child. It was during the height of the hippie era, and I remember being struck by how clean Seattle was compared to San Francisco. My two or three subsequent trips to Seattle, all before 2012, didn’t change my mind. Now, though, Seattle has become a crazed left-wing bastion—but it turns out that even crazed left-wing bastions have their limits.
In Seattle’s case, the problem is the massive number of migrants flooding the city. But don’t be fooled into thinking that these are the same third-world illegal aliens destroying cities across America. These aren’t Tren de Aragua gangbangers, Mexican drug mules, Muslim fraudsters, or any of the other illegal aliens and faux refugees draining America’s collective bank account.
These are the Seattle kind of migrants: LGBTQ+ people fleeing Texas and other red states because those states are just too darn conservative. Yes, Seattle is facing a state of emergency because of homosexuals and gender confused people flooding its city borders. Apparently, the sanctuary concept only goes so far.
According to SGN, a Seattle-based LGBTQ+ focused outlet, Seattle is getting ready to declare a civil emergency because of this influx of gays and, more importantly, gender confused individuals:
On the Trans Day of Visibility last month, Seattle’s LGBTQ Commission submitted a letter of recommendation to the Mayor’s Office, City Council, and City Attorney’s Office that requested that City officials declare a civil emergency in response to the increasing number of Trans and Queer people fleeing hostile environments in other states.
An anonymous source told the SGN that the letter has since been received, and discussions between City officials and community members behind closed doors indicate Seattle is on the cusp of declaring a state of emergency for LGBTQIA+ refugees before Pride Month in June.
If you’re wondering why one of the most leftist cities in America is in panic mode because Southern non-heterosexuals are moving in, the answer is money. In a letter that the Seattle LGBTQ Commission wrote to the city government about the rising problem of “internally displaced persons,” the Commission explained that this influx of people “places pressure on community-based service providers, housing systems, and public health infrastructure. Community-driven efforts alone are insufficient to mitigate this emergent issue.”
Here’s how the money problem plays out: Washington State either pays for or subsidizes the insane cost of supporting medical procedures for people who want cosmetic surgery and hormones so that they can pretend to be the opposite of their biological sex. While Seattle doesn’t pay out of pocket, the welcome mat for these expensive mentally ill people imposes all sorts of indirect costs on the city. According to ChatGPT, these include:
- Public health infrastructure through Public Health – Seattle & King County, which receives county, city, state, and federal funding and supports LGBTQ outreach, sexual health clinics, and community health access.
- Grants and contracts to LGBTQ nonprofits and homelessness services that may assist transgender residents.
- Municipal employee health insurance plans that include gender-affirming care for city workers.
- Support for community programs, shelters, youth services, and anti-discrimination enforcement.
- Public funding for some school-based wellness and counseling infrastructure through local education and public-health partnerships.
During the city’s tech heyday, those costs might not have been a problem. However, because Seattle’s drug and homeless policies have been driving away local businesses, the money isn’t flowing like it used to. Last year, Seattle projected an approximately $240 million budget shortfall for the 2025-2025 fiscal year. Even as businesses leave, though, it won’t stop spending—and Seattle’s socialist mayor, Katie Wilson, is unconcerned:

I knew that reality would eventually overtake leftist lunacy. I just didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. I couldn’t be happier. This is the ripping-off-the-band-aid approach to helping Normals recover from their madness. We just have to hope that, at the end of the day, there are more Normals than crazy people.
