European Union, Biden Administration Embrace Palestinian Lies - Bassam Tawil

by Bassam Tawil

The representatives of France, Germany, Italy, Britain and the US are lying to everyone's face when they claim that the construction of new homes for Jews would "exacerbate tensions between Israelis and Palestinians and undermine efforts to achieve a negotiated two-state solution."

  • By turning a blind eye to Palestinian lies, fabrications and antisemitism, the Biden administration and the EU are sending a message to the Palestinians that it is perfectly fine to continue demonizing Israel and Jews.

  • Needless to say, the statement by France, Germany, Italy, Britain and the US totally ignored Abbas's ongoing campaign to vilify Israel, demonize Jews, deny their history and rights to Israel and the Western Wall. In fact, the EU has even been working with the Palestinians to seize as much land as possible to create "facts on the ground" in the large region of "Area C" that officially belongs to Israel.

  • The statement also totally ignores Palestinian leaders' glorification of terrorists and the Palestinian "pay-for-slay" jobs program that incentivizes Palestinians to murder Jews by rewarding the murderers and their families afterwards.

  • For the EU and the Biden administration, building new homes by Jewish families is more dangerous than the antisemitic remarks and genocidal rhetoric of Abbas and other Palestinians.

  • The representatives of France, Germany, Italy, Britain and the US are lying to everyone's face when they claim that the construction of new homes for Jews would "exacerbate tensions between Israelis and Palestinians and undermine efforts to achieve a negotiated two-state solution."

  • The representatives of Italy, Germany, France, Britain and the US know that the Israeli-Arab conflict started long before the construction of even one house for Jews in the West Bank. All they need to do is listen to what Abbas himself said in Cairo, where he made it clear that the Arab's problem with Israel started already back in 1917, when the Jews were promised a homeland of their own. When Abbas states that the Arabs have exclusive rights to Jerusalem and Palestine, he is actually saying that Israel has no right to exist.

  • By ignoring Abbas's remarks, those who issued the joint statement that denounces Israel for intending to build new housing units for Jewish families are complicit in the Palestinian campaign of lies and fabrications regarding Jewish history and rights.

  • By failing to call out the Palestinian leader for his lies, distortions and incitement, the officials from Italy, Germany, France, Britain and the Biden administration are again demonstrating their unbending bias against Israel.

  • It is time for the EU and the Biden administration to wake up to the fact that the Palestinian leaders are not interested in peace with Israel. They are interested in peace without Israel. The Palestinians do not distinguish between a Jew residing in the West Bank and a Jew residing in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.

  • The Palestinian leaders are part of the problem, not part of the solution. The EU and the Biden administration's double standards and failure to see reality as it is, instead of as they wish it to be, are also part of the problem. Only when the EU and the Biden administration take this in will it be possible to start talking about the prospects of a "negotiated solution" for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

It is the Palestinian leadership's refusal to accept Israel's right to exist as the homeland of the Jewish people that is exacerbating tensions between Israelis and Palestinians. It is the Palestinian leadership's massive campaign of incitement against Israel and Jews and continued glorification of terrorists that is aggravating tensions between Israelis and Palestinians. The Palestinian Authority and its leader, Mahmoud Abbas, continue to twist, misrepresent and rewrite the history of the Jews as part of an ongoing campaign to delegitimize the State of Israel and the Jewish people. The campaign aims to negate and reject the connection between the Jews and the Land of Israel and foster hatred for Israel and the Jews.

This campaign -- which, in Europe, at least, has been going on for decades -- is being completely ignored by both the European Union and the Biden administration, whose representatives are too busy bashing Israel to notice. By turning a blind eye to Palestinian lies, fabrications and antisemitism, the Biden administration and the EU are sending a message to the Palestinians that it is perfectly fine to continue demonizing Israel and Jews.

On February 12, Abbas participated in a conference at the Arab League headquarters in the Egyptian capital of Cairo. The conference, attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan's King Abdullah II, was held to discuss ways to support the Arabs living in Israel's capital, Jerusalem.

Addressing the conference, Abbas repeated his false claim that there was no connection between Jews and Jerusalem, as well as the Western Wall of Temple Mount, part of the retaining wall from the Second Temple of Solomon that was destroyed in 67 CE -- more than 500 years before the Islamic Prophet Mohammad was born in 571 CE -- and that Muslims are now claiming as part of their Temple Mount/Haram al-Sharif. Abbas also exposed his antisemitic colors once again by arguing that Israel was created because the Europeans wanted to get rid of the Jews living in their countries, when in fact the Jews have continuously lived in area, first known as Canaan, which included Judea, since at least 1550 BCE, when Jericho was razed.

According to Abbas, the Palestinians are the only ones who have rights in Jerusalem and its holy sites, including the Western Wall, referred to by Muslims as Al-Buraq Wall:

"We have the opportunity at this conference to present a true, documented account of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, including the Al-Buraq Wall [Western Wall], an account that refutes the fabricated account on which the occupation is based. We [the Palestinians] have the right to Palestine, Jerusalem, and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. We alone have the religious, historical, and legal right to Al-Buraq Wall, which is, as we said before, is part of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and is a valid Islamic property."

Abbas went on to claim that the idea of establishing the State of Israel had nothing to do with Jews achieving their more-than-2,000-year-old dream to live freely in their own homeland. Instead, Abbas argued, Israel was created for two simple reasons: The Europeans wanted to get rid of the Jews living in their countries; and, to serve the interests of "colonial powers" in the Middle East.

In Abbas's opinion, Britain's 1917 Balfour Declaration that supported the establishment of a "national home for the Jewish people" in Palestine was nothing but a "conspiracy led by Britain and the US with the aim of getting rid of the Jews in Europe on the one hand, and the establishment of what was called their national homeland in Palestine on the other hand to serve as an outpost to secure the interests of the colonial countries."

Two days after Abbas's latest attempt to rewrite history and deny any Jewish connection to the land of Israel, his friends in the Biden administration and some European countries issued a joint statement in which they attacked Israel for advancing plans to build new homes for Jewish families in the West Bank:

"We – the Foreign Ministers of France, Germany and Italy, the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, and the Secretary of State of the United States – are deeply troubled by the Israeli government's announcement that it is advancing nearly 10,000 settlement units... We strongly oppose these unilateral actions which will only serve to exacerbate tensions between Israelis and Palestinians and undermine efforts to achieve a negotiated two-state solution. We continue to closely monitor developments on the ground which impact the viability of the two-state solution and stability in the region at large."

Needless to say, the statement by France, Germany, Italy, Britain and the US totally ignored Abbas's ongoing campaign to vilify Israel, demonize Jews, deny their history and rights to Israel and the Western Wall. In fact, the EU has even been working with the Palestinians to seize as much land as possible to create "facts on the ground" in the large region of "Area C" that officially belongs to Israel.

The statement also totally ignores Palestinian leaders' glorification of terrorists and the Palestinian "pay-for-slay" jobs-program that incentivizes Palestinians to murder Jews by rewarding the murderers and their families afterwards.

For the EU and the Biden administration, building new homes by Jewish families is more dangerous than the antisemitic remarks and genocidal rhetoric of Abbas and other Palestinians (for instance here, here and here).

The representatives of France, Germany, Italy, Britain and the US are lying to everyone's face when they claim that the construction of new homes for Jews would "exacerbate tensions between Israelis and Palestinians and undermine efforts to achieve a negotiated two-state solution."

It is also the Palestinian leadership's ongoing efforts to erase Jewish history that are responsible for the mounting tensions.

The representatives of Italy, Germany, France, Britain and the US know that the Israeli-Arab conflict started long before the construction of even one house for Jews in the West Bank.

Unlike the Europeans and the Biden administration, Abbas's main objection does not note the construction of a few thousand housing units for Jewish families. Abbas's main objection concerns Jews moving from Europe and other parts of the world to live in their own homeland. Abbas's main objection is to Jews' saying that they have religious, historical and legal rights to Jerusalem, the Land of Israel and the Western Wall.

By ignoring Abbas's remarks, those who issued the joint statement that denounces Israel for intending to build new housing units for Jewish families are complicit in the Palestinian campaign of lies and fabrications regarding Jewish history and rights.

By failing to call out the Palestinian leader for his lies, distortions and incitement, the officials from Italy, Germany, France, Britain and the Biden administration are again demonstrating their unbending bias against Israel.

They are allowing Palestinian leaders to continue to spread their lies and fabrications about Israel and the Jewish people. This -- rather than building homes for Jews -- is the real threat to a "negotiated solution" between Israelis and Palestinians.

As noted by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center:

"The objectives of the Palestinians' twisting history, perpetuating inaccuracies and deliberately distorting names, providing incorrect dates and introducing antisemitic elements are to cast into doubt and deny the existence of the Jewish people and its historical connections to the Land of Israel, foster hatred for Israel and the Jews and sabotage any chance of significant dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians."

Abbas has made similar statements about Israel and Jews in the past. In 2018, he said in speech before the Palestinian National Council in Ramallah, the de facto capital of the Palestinian Authority, that the Europeans hated the Jews because of their social and banking activities, including interest on loans. According to Abbas, the State of Israel is colonialist project and alien body that was planted in the region by Christian countries that hated the Jews and wanted to get rid of them.

It is time for the EU and the Biden administration to wake up to the fact that the Palestinian leaders are not interested in peace with Israel. They are interested in peace without Israel. The Palestinians do not distinguish between a Jew residing in the West Bank and a Jew residing in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem.

The Palestinian leaders are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Major PMW success: PMW initiated law passed by huge Knesset majority - Itamar Marcus

by Itamar Marcus

Before the final vote on the law, Israeli Minister Avi Dichter, specifically noted the PMW’s contribution

Yesterday, the Israeli parliament (Knesset) adopted a law that was initiated, formulated and originally written by Palestinian Media Watch. While the current Israeli Knesset is highly polarized, PMW’s law was adopted by broad, possibly unprecedented, consensus of both the coalition and the opposition, with 94 out of the 120 Knesset members of voting in favor of the law.

The “Law to cancel the citizenship or residency of a terrorist who receives a payment for the commission of an act of terror,” provides that an Israeli citizen or resident who fulfills three cumulative criteria - Convicted of a terror offense; sentenced to actual prison time; requests and receives a payment from the Palestinian Authority as a reward for their acts of terror -  will be stripped of their Israeli citizenship or residency.

Before the final vote on the law, Israeli Minister Avi Dichter, specifically noted the PMW’s contribution:

Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Avi Dicter: “The problem was a very serious problem: Israeli [Arabs] who engage in terror, including those who murdered Israelis, receive a status of Palestinian Authority employee the day they enter prison in Israel, from the day of their arrest until the end of their lives. Whether in prison or outside of prison, they are PA employees because they are terrorists. Here I owe a word of praise to the Palestinian Media Watch institute and to the one responsible for legal matters there [PMW Director of Legal Strategies] Maurice Hirsch, who truly invested day and night to gather the information that truly shines light on a phenomenon that we have been living alongside, living alongside it for years, and allowing it to pass.”

[Knesset Channel (Israeli public TV), Feb. 15, 2023]

The underlying rationale of the law is that the PA sees all the imprisoned terrorists - including the Israeli Arab terrorists to whom they pay a special addition - as Palestinians, as soldiers and as the “fighting sector” of Palestinian society. The terrorists also see themselves as Palestinian soldiers. When an Israeli citizen or resident carries out an act of terror, acting as a soldier of a foreign and hostile entity, and then receives a payment from that foreign entity as a reward for his participation in terror, that person is fundamentally breaching his duty of loyalty to the State of Israel, and is, by his own actions, demonstrating that he should no longer be considered to be and “Israeli.”

Research presented by PMW during the Knesset committee discussions on the bill showed that it would in no way be unique to Israel. Rather, that it reflected broad international consensus and was grounded in international law.

International law

International law recognizes the right of countries to strip persons of their nationality in certain circumstances. The issue that arises is whether that person holds, or is entitled to, an alternative status. Accordingly, article 8(1) of the Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness 1961 provides that as a general rule, countries should not deprive a person of their citizenship in a manner that would render him stateless.

Article 8(2) and particularly article 8(3) provide the exceptions to this general rule. According to article 8(3) a country may strip someone of their citizenship, even if that decision leaves the person stateless, inter alia, if the person acted “inconsistently with his duty of loyalty “ to the country and “in disregard of an express prohibition by the Contracting State rendered or continued to render services to, or received or continued to receive emoluments  from, another State.”

When an Israeli terrorist carries out an act of terror against Israel and Israelis on behalf of the Palestinians, he is clearly breaching his “duty of loyalty.” When that terrorist then receives a payment - referred to in the convention as an “emolument” - from the PA as a reward for his acts of terror – receiving a payment of this nature is specifically prohibited by Israel’s Anti-Terror Law – Israel is certainly within its rights under the convention to strip that person of his citizenship or residency even if that person is left stateless.

State practice

In addition to the provision of article 8 of the Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness PMW also presented the findings of a study that examined the legal provisions in 190 countries regarding stripping people of their citizenship.

The study showed that of the 190 countries examined, 134 countries have provisions to strip persons of their citizenship based on one form or another of disloyal conduct. In 98 of those 134 countries, there is no provision that would prevent stripping the person of their citizenship in a manner that would leave him stateless.

What PMW hopes the law will achieve

The PA ‘Pay-for-Slay’ terror reward policy is widely recognized as a means to incite, promote incentivize and reward terror. Using this policy, the PA does its utmost to ensure that Israeli Arab’s feel a greater affiliation with being “Palestinian” than with being “Israeli”. The additional payment that the PA pays specifically to Israeli terrorists, provides not only an extra and added incentive to participate in terror by also as a bridge between the PA and the Israeli Arabs.

In the course of the discussions, PMW exposed information it had received, and told the Knesset committee that there are currently about 1,000 Israeli Arab terrorists in prison who are receiving reward payments from the PA - 300 Israeli citizens and 700 Israeli residents.

As such, and in an effort to remove the potential financial reward the Israeli Arab terrorist would see, the primary goal of the law is deterrence, placing a clear and substantial price on participating in terror and taking payments from the PA as a reward.

Is PMW’s goal realistic?

Following the initial approval of the bill in the Knesset committee, the PA TV expert on Israeli affairs, Fayez Abbas, already realized the potential threat of the law and already recommended that the PA stop paying the terror rewards to the Israeli terrorists:

Official PA TV “Israeli affairs expert” Fayez Abbas: “An [Israeli] law passed in an initial reading to revoke [the Israeli] citizenship and residency of people (i.e., terrorists) who carry out operations (i.e., terror attacks) against Israel and receive money from the Palestinian Authority. According to this law, if you received money they revoke your [residency or citizenship]. If you didn’t receive it- I recommend not to pay them money.”

US F-35 jets intercept 4 Russian fighter aircraft near Alaska, second action in 2 days - Timothy H.J. Nerozzi

by Timothy H.J. Nerozzi

NORAD dismissed concerns about the second interception of Russian aircraft in two days, calling the incident 'routine'

Two US F-35 fighter jets intercepted Russian fighter aircraft Tuesday as they approached Alaska's Air Defense Identification Zone, officials announced Thursday.

The Russian military aircraft included a TU-95 BEAR-H bomber, as well as SU-30 and SU-35 fighter jets.

North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), which detected and intercepted the craft, said that it did not enter U.S. airspace.

NORAD stated that the incident was not related to the spate of unidentified aircraft seen in recent weeks, calling the situation "routine."

RUSSIAN MILITARY AIRCRAFT INTERCEPTED NEAR ALASKA, NORAD SAYS

Two F-16 fighter jets were previously dispatched by NORAD to intercept separate Russian aircraft Monday, which included a TU-95 BEARH-H and SU-35 fighter jet.

"This is the second intercept of Russian aircraft over two days. This Russian activity near the North American ADIZ occurs regularly and is not seen as a threat, nor is the activity seen as provocative," NORAD said Thursday.

Since 2007, Russian aircraft have been intercepted in the North American ADIZ six to seven times a year.

The latest incursion comes amid increased tensions between Russia and the West over the war in Ukraine. Two Dutch F-35s intercepted Russian military aircraft near Polish airspace on Monday, according to defense officials.

House GOP seeks FBI investigation into Biden appointee over espionage concerns - Ben Whedon

by Ben Whedon

The lawmakers took issue with Dominic Ng's appointment to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council.

A group of House Republicans has called upon FBI Director Christopher Wray to investigate a Biden administration appointee over his alleged connections to Chinese intelligence organizations.

"It has come to our attention that President Biden has appointed an individual with existing Chinese Communist Party (CCP) ties to an advisory role," GOP Reps. Lance Gooden, Texas; Tom Tiffany, Wis.; Lauren Boebert, Colo.; Ben Cline, Va.; Doug LaMalfa, Calif.; and Keith Self, Texas; wrote to Wray. The Daily Caller News Foundation first reported on the letter.

The lawmakers took issue with Dominic Ng's appointment to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council, pointing to his past work and claiming that "recent and substantial allegations discovered Mr. Ng's past connections to U.S.-based Chinese third party entities."

"[W]e request the FBI investigate and provide a report to Congress on the extent of Mr. Ng's knowledge of sensitive information, as well as any potential violations of the Espionage Act," they demanded of Wray.

"China has proved themselves as our greatest adversary and foreign competitor, and yet our leaders continuously jeopardize U.S. national security by allowing the People's Republic of China (PRC) to infiltrate our third-party sector and federal government," the Republicans contended. "This lack of scrutiny should be promptly evaluated, and the Biden Administration should take immediate steps to ensure blunders like this will not happen again."

The Republicans went on to further detail Ng's alleged involvement in other supposed Chinese front groups and also noted his personal financial contributions to Democratic political causes.

"Between 2013 and 2017, he served as the executive director of the China Overseas Exchange Association (COEA) which is a front organization for the United Front Work Department (UFWD)," they asserted. "UFWD is a Chinese intelligence service whose mission is to liaison with foreign political parties, influence operations, and collect intelligence."

"Organizations like the UFWD and its affiliated groups play an increasingly important role in Chinese foreign policy and allow political actors like Mr. Ng to gain influence in sensitive American institutions to advocate for the interests of communist China," they continued. "This tactic is regularly employed by the CCP to infiltrate governments and influence policies for CCP-oriented outcomes."

"If the Biden Administration does not take the CCP seriously, our leaders are risking an endless slew of national security breaches," they warned the FBI director.

Email disclosures leave 'breadcrumbs' leading to government-Twitter election censorship collusion - Nick Givas and Greg Piper

by Nick Givas and Greg Piper

Twitter executive fired by Musk, Election Integrity Partnership leader discuss how to get around "troubling" comments voiced at DHS Cybersecurity Advisory Committee meeting.

Summer 2022 emails between participants in a federal misinformation subcommittee, recently turned over in response to public records requests, are prompting renewed calls for Congress to investigate the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's role in shaping what Americans can see.

They apparently show a Twitter executive fired by Elon Musk last fall strategizing with a leader in the CISA-blessed Election Integrity Partnership on how to overcome internal objections to their plans for the Protecting Critical Infrastructure from Misinformation and Disinformation Subcommittee, part of CISA's Cybersecurity Advisory Committee.

An agency under the Department of Homeland Security that touts itself as the "quarterback for the federal cybersecurity team," CISA has become a lightning rod for public anger as it has sought to carve itself a role as stealth arbiter of domestic political debate about election security through a network of corporate and nonprofit information control surrogates.

"We may have discovered breadcrumbs showing the close relationship between one of the government's ordained censorship captains and her Big Tech ally who, as we've learned from the Twitter Files, executed government-ordered censorship," the Functional Government Initiative, which made the initial public records request, told Just the News.

"The records appear to show backroom conversations" about the June 22 CISA advisory committee meeting, where "censorship efforts may have run into resistance," the group said. "We will continue to follow this trail as the University of Washington slowly relinquishes control of more information" through further public records requests, adding "more context, information and names."

UW is home to the Center for an Informed Public, cofounded by faculty member Kate Starbird. The center is a leader in the EIP along with the Stanford Internet Observatory. It's been hit with a barrage of public records requests since Just the News reported on EIP's misinformation policing efforts in the 2020 and 2022 election cycles.

The newly disclosed emails, mostly from June 22, are among Starbird, Twitter's then-chief of legal, policy and trust Vijaya Gadde, and Suzanne Spaulding, director of the Defending Democratic Institutions project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

They have a friendly and sometimes snarky tone, discussing what's happening at the June 22 advisory committee meeting and how to respond.

According to the official notes from the open session, Starbird urged CISA to "take the same action in response to countering mis-, dis-, and mal-information (MDM) as the Agency does to counter cyber threats."

Starbird recommended the agency alert the public to "MDM threats," which have "led to physical threats against elections officials," and "partner with frontline elections officials to inform the public and point to first-hand elections resources from Secretaries of State."

Starbird's subcommittee recommended a "civics education" campaign by CISA on "how to identify MDM and build an understanding of why citizens should not want to spread MDM." Such a campaign, Starbird noted, "aligns with CISA's cyber hygiene mission." Proactive education warning against MDM threats, she suggested, "should be in the form of pointing to trusted and authoritative sources of information at the local level," such as election officials. CISA should also "identify, communicate, and respond to actor-based threats," she added.

Starbird cited a quote from controversial Arizona election official Stephen Richer, the Maricopa County Recorder, that "responding to misinformation is my day job. My night job is running elections."

Richer is among the defendants in a lawsuit filed by 2022 GOP gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake charging that malfunctioning ballot printers and tabulators in almost one-third of vote centers in Maricopa County effectively disenfranchised thousands of disproportionately Republican Election Day voters. Lake's suit is now pending before the Arizona Court of Appeals after being rejected by a county judge.

CISA Director Jen Easterly emphasized the agency is "beholden to supporting and defending the Constitution" and supporting states and localities "to help them ensure the security and resilience of elections."

Much of the context is missing from the emails, and some of the timestamps are out of order, making it difficult to tell the order of the messages, which may be a result of the multiple time zones of meeting participants. But they suggest that comments by a "Matthew" shifted the mood at the meeting during a closed session that is not recorded in the official notes, before Starbird's presentation from her "tiny" subcommittee that includes Gadde.

"Just a quick note to say thanks for your comments — I'm dialed in and listening," Gadde appears to first tell Starbird in a thread mentioning the closed session.

"The conversation tipped on Matthew's comments ... troubling," Starbird responds.

"I'm actually really surprised — I might reach out to him to understand more where he's coming from," Gadde says.

(Just the News was not able to nail down the identity of "Matthew" by press time.)

"Should I read the freedom of speech lines in my intro?" Starbird asks.

"I think making the point about this being about more speech and not affecting legal speech is good?" Gadde responds.

"Yes," Starbird answers. "Adding now."

Gadde then congratulates Starbird on her presentation, which the UW faculty member calls "a little stilted." Starbird complains that "other committee members don't even have the courage to comment (much less serve on our consequently tiny subcommittee)."

"These emails, added to the body of overwhelming evidence of domestic censorship coordination that currently exists, confirms it is past time for congressional committees to subpoena CISA," Foundation for Freedom Online Executive Director Mike Benz, a former State Department official, told Just the News.

"We need all emails, communications, meetings and minutes, free from the 'deliberative process' shield, so Americans get an unfiltered view of how their own government filters their views," Benz said.

Gadde, Starbird and Prince, the possible "Matthew" referenced in the emails, did not respond to queries.

Genocide in Nigeria: The Biden Administration's Cover-Up - Raymond Ibrahim

by Raymond Ibrahim

In 2022 alone, 90% of all Christians around the world who were killed for their faith... were slaughtered in Nigeria. On average, that is 14 Christians killed for their faith every day in Nigeria — at least one Christian every two hours.

  • [T]he Biden administration's decision to delist Nigeria from the list of Countries of Particular Concern was "inexplicable," according to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom

  • Christians are being butchered — "purged" — in Nigeria at an alarming rate.

  • In 2022 alone, 90% of all Christians around the world who were killed for their faith... were slaughtered in Nigeria. On average, that is 14 Christians killed for their faith every day in Nigeria — at least one Christian every two hours.

  • In just the first month of 2023, in January alone, Muslims slaughtered approximately 60 Christians in Nigeria, raided churches, and kidnapped women and children.

  • [O]n January 31, 2023, Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), introduced a bipartisan resolution calling for not only the return of Nigeria to the State Department's CPC list, but for the appointment of a special ambassador to monitor the situation.

  • "[The Fulani] demonstrated a clear intent to target Christians and symbols of Christian identity such as churches, and, during attacks, shouted 'Allah u Akbar,' 'destroy the infidels,' and 'wipe out the infidels.'... [Despite this] the Department of State mischaracterizes or incompletely characterizes the increasing incidents of large scale violence ... [as] solely attributable to competition for scarce natural resources resulting from climate change." — U.S. House Resolution "Expressing the sense of Congress regarding the need to designate Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern."

  • The new resolution also, rather refreshingly, calls out Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari—himself a Fulani, who "has favored and promoted fellow Fulani and other northern Muslim ethnic groups," while others, chief among them Christians, "are denied equal rights."

  • "It's tough to tell Nigerian Christians this isn't a religious conflict since what they see are Fulani fighters clad entirely in black, chanting 'Allahu Akbar!' and screaming 'Death to Christians.'" — Sister Monica Chikwe, Nigerian nun, cruxnow.com, August 4, 2019.

  • [B]y removing Nigeria from the CPC list in November, 2021, the Biden administration was simply returning to the status quo. Although jihadists had slaughtered and terrorized Nigeria's Christians all during President Barack Obama's eight-year tenure, when Biden was his Vice President (2009-2017), and although the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom had, beginning in 2009 and every year afterwards, repeatedly urged that Nigeria be designated as a Country of Particular Concern, the Obama administration had obstinately refused to comply.

  • It was only in 2020, under the Trump administration, that Nigeria was first designated as a CPC — only to be removed the following year under Biden.

  • [A]lthough news media initially presented the kidnapped [by Boko Haram] Chibok schoolgirls as Muslim, it later came out that they were Christian, at which point the media quickly lost interest.

  • Once again, the Biden Administration seems to be prioritizing yet another ruthless dictatorship as more important than a genocide – this time, one persecuting Christians, not Uyghurs. What other reason could there be not to rename Nigeria a "country of particular concern"?

Christians are being butchered — "purged" — in Nigeria at an alarming rate. According to a 2021 report, since Nigeria's Islamic insurgency began in earnest in July 2009, 43,000 Christians were murdered, and 18,500 were abducted (never to be seen again and assumed to be dead). Swept under the rug for more than a year, one of the Biden administration's "sins of omission" are making headlines again.

On November 17, 2021, the State Department inexplicably removed Nigeria from its list of Countries of Particular Concern (CPC list). These are nations that either engage in, or tolerate, violations of religious freedom. The Biden State Department removed Nigeria from the list despite strong objections from several human rights organizations, many of which insist that Christians are even undergoing a genocide in Nigeria.

Many observers at the time slammed the State Department for its decision to let Nigeria literally get away with mass murder. Christian Solidarity International said:

"The State Department's decision to de-list a country where thousands of Christians are killed every year reveals Washington's true priorities.... Removing this largely symbolic sign of concern is a brazen denial of reality and indicates that the U.S. intends to pursue its interests in western Africa through an alliance with Nigeria's security elite, at the expense of Christians and other victims of widespread sectarian violence.... If the U.S. CPC list means anything at all—an open question at this point—Nigeria belongs on it."

Even for the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), an independent, bipartisan federal commission that monitors and reports on religious freedom to the U.S. government and Congress, the Biden administration's decision to delist Nigeria was "inexplicable," a reflection of "turning a blind eye" to "particularly severe religious freedom violations."

The reason many were shocked is that in Nigeria, Christians are being butchered — purged — at an alarming rate.

According to an August 2021 report, since the Islamic insurgency began in earnest in July 2009 — first at the hands of Boko Haram, an Islamic terrorist organization, and later by the Fulani, Muslim herdsmen also motivated by jihadist ideology — 43,000 Christians were murdered, and 18,500 were abducted (never to be seen again and assumed to be dead). During the same time-frame, approximately 17,500 churches and 2,000 Christian schools were torched and destroyed.

Since the publication of that August 2021 report, things have only gotten worse. According to the latest figures, in 2022 alone, 90% of all Christians killed for their faith around the world — 5,014 Christians to be exact — were slaughtered in Nigeria. On average, that is 14 Christians in Nigeria killed for their faith every day — at least one Christian every two hours.

Little has changed with the new year. In January 2023 alone, Muslims slaughtered approximately 60 Christians in Nigeria, raided churches, and kidnapped women and children (based on reports here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here).

During one of these raids on a church, on Sunday, January 15, Muslims terrorists burned Fr. Isaac Achi, a Catholic priest, alive. They also shot and wounded his assistant priest. Discussing another massacre of Christians, on January 19, a clergyman said:

"The images of the attack are horrifying, and I keep saying that not even ISIS is capable of such brutality. After killing, these guys decapitated some and took the parts away as proof to whoever is the sponsor."

Such sadism is not exceptional. In another recent attack on a Christian village, the jihadists cut off the breast of a Christian woman.

Recently, however, in response to this unabated assault on Christians, on January 31, 2023, Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), introduced a bipartisan resolution calling for not only the return of Nigeria to the State Department's CPC list, but for the appointment of a special ambassador to monitor the situation.

The eight-page resolution is worth reading in its entirety. Some of its most noteworthy revelations include the purely Islamic motives of those terrorizing Christians in Nigeria.

Although the Fulani — the one Muslim demographic most responsible for the butchery of Christians — are regularly portrayed in the West as impoverished and non-ideologically motivated herdsmen merely competing for scarce resources, the resolution correctly notes that the Fulani are working to reestablish a "caliphate." The resolution adds:

"[The Fulani] demonstrated a clear intent to target Christians and symbols of Christian identity such as churches, and, during attacks, shouted 'Allah u Akbar,' 'destroy the infidels,' and 'wipe out the infidels.'... [Despite this] the Department of State mischaracterizes or incompletely characterizes the increasing incidents of large scale violence in Nigeria's northern and central rural regions as 'communal clashes' between Muslim herders and Christian farmers, solely attributable to competition for scarce natural resources resulting from climate change."

This is no exaggeration. Just last summer, after Muslim Fulani massacred more than 40 Christians as they peacefully worshipped inside their church on Pentecost Sunday (June 5, 2022), the president of Ireland, Michael Higgins, issued a statement exonerating the Fulani and blaming the weather.

However, as a Nigerian nun, Sister Monica Chikwe, once observed:

"It's tough to tell Nigerian Christians this isn't a religious conflict since what they see are Fulani fighters clad entirely in black, chanting 'Allahu Akbar!' and screaming 'Death to Christians.'"

Or as the Christian Association of Nigeria once asked:

"How can it be a [secular or economic] clash when one group [Muslims] is persistently attacking, killing, maiming, destroying, and the other group [Christians] is persistently being killed, maimed and their places of worship destroyed?"

The new resolution also, rather refreshingly, calls out Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari — himself a Fulani, who "has favored and promoted fellow Fulani and other northern Muslim ethnic groups," while others, chief among them Christians, "are denied equal rights." There is reason to believe that the Nigerian president has done much worse than discriminate, with several leading Christians in Nigeria accusing him of being complicit in their persecution.

Smith's resolution concludes:

"(1) the Secretary of State should immediately designate Nigeria a 'country of particular concern' for engaging in and tolerating systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom, as mandated by the International Religious Freedom 7 Act of 1998 (22 U.S.C. 6401 et seq.); and
(2) in order to ensure that the Secretary of State receives more complete and accurate reporting and analysis, the President should promptly appoint a person of recognized distinction in the fields of religious freedom and human rights as 'Special Envoy for Nigeria and the Lake Chad Region' with the rank of Ambassador, who reports directly to the Secretary of State and coordinates United States Government efforts to monitor and combat atrocities there."

Although this resolution makes a strong case to return Nigeria to the CPC list, based on precedent, there is reason to doubt it will have the desired effect.

For a start, by removing Nigeria from the CPC list in November, 2021, the Biden administration was simply returning to the status quo.

It was only in 2020, under the Trump administration, that Nigeria was first designated as a CPC — only to be removed the following year under Biden.

To his credit, President Donald Trump had also forthrightly asked the Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari — whom many Nigerian officials insist Obama helped bring to power — "Why are you killing Christians?"

Not only did the Obama State Department refuse to designate Nigeria as a CPC for eight years; during Hillary Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State (2009-2013), she went so far as to refuse to designate Boko Haram in Nigeria as a "terrorist" organization — even though Boko Haram (which roughly translates as "Western education is forbidden") is a notorious jihadist group that has slaughtered more Christians and bombed more churches than the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria combined.

As is happening now under Biden's State Department, Clinton's refusal had persisted despite the urging of the Justice Department, the FBI, the CIA, and more than a dozen Senators and House Representatives for her to designate Boko Haram. Hillary Clinton's husband, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, insisted in 2012 that "inequality" and "poverty" are "what's fueling all this stuff" — a reference to ideologically driven Muslims slaughtering thousands of Christians. This callousness is reminiscent of Hillary Clinton's response to the murders of Americans in Benghazi, Libya: "What difference at this point does it make?"

In 2014, Boko Haram abducted nearly 300 schoolgirls from Chibok, Nigeria. It was an incident that made headlines and therefore required a response. Publicly, Clinton bemoaned the lot of the kidnapped girls: "The seizure of these young women by this radical extremist group, Boko Haram, is abominable, it's criminal, it's an act of terrorism and it really merits the fullest response possible." Meanwhile, as a 2014 report pointed out,

"The State Department under Hillary Clinton fought hard against placing the al Qaeda-linked militant group Boko Haram on its official list of foreign terrorist organizations for two years. And now, lawmakers and former U.S. officials are saying that the decision may have hampered the American government's ability to confront the Nigerian group that shocked the world by abducting hundreds of innocent girls."

Indeed, two years earlier, in 2012, when Clinton was actively shielding Boko Haram from the terrorist label, a spokesman for the group announced that they were planning on doing something just like they did at Chibok—to "strike fear into the Christians of the power of Islam by kidnapping their women" — though that too was ignored by Clinton. Notably, although news media initially presented the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls as Muslims, it later came out that they were Christians, at which point the media quickly lost interest.

Recently, former Rep. Frank Wolf (R- Va), rhetorically asked,

"Does anyone remember hashtag BringBackOurGirls? Well, whatever happened, where're all those guys who went on television and [posted] the hashtag... 50% of the girls did not return. I met with some of the Chibok parents. They wonder what in the name is the world doing."

Once again, the Biden Administration seems to be prioritizing yet another ruthless dictatorship as more important than a genocide – this time, one persecuting Christians, not Uyghurs. What other reason could there be not to rename Nigeria a "country of particular concern"?

AOC’s ‘Fascism’ Label for Super Bowl Ads About Jesus - Joseph Klein

by Joseph Klein

A leftist sinks even further into the cesspool of hate.

The faith movement known as ‘He Gets Us’ sponsored two ads during the Super Bowl that were intended to promote Jesus’s teachings of “unconditional love,” compassion, and togetherness.

Democrat Socialist Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) concluded, however, that these ads, which preached against hate, cruelty, anger, and exclusion, carried a much darker, more sinister message.

“Something tells me Jesus would *not* spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign,” AOC tweeted.

‘He Gets Us’ spokesperson Jason Vanderground responded to AOC’s outrageous denunciation of the ads by explaining their true purpose.

“Our research shows that many people’s only exposure to Jesus is through Christians who reflect him imperfectly,” Mr. Vanderground said, “and too often in ways that create a distorted or incomplete picture of his radical compassion and love for others. We believe it’s more important now than ever for the real, authentic Jesus to be represented in the public marketplace as he is in the Bible.”

Mr. Vanderground explained the message of the second ad, a sixty second spot, which showed people angrily confronting each other until the tagline “Jesus loved the people we hate” appeared on the screen.

“What could possibly be louder and more powerful than hate? Love can,” Mr. Vanderground said. “But not just any love. Confounding love. Unconditional love. Sacrificial love. The love we see in Jesus. What if we tried to love our enemies the way Jesus loved his? How would it change the tenor of our conflicts and our conversations?”

Mr. Vanderground might as well have been talking to a brick wall as far as AOC is concerned.

Although Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is already one of the left-wing Squad’s leading messengers of hate, she has now sunk to new depths with her malicious tweet regarding the ‘He Gets Us’ Super Bowl ads. AOC tried to twist a message urging people to put aside their hate, anger, and prejudices and to work together to make this world a better place into something diabolical.

So, what is the ‘He Gets Us’ movement, whose faith-based ads caused AOC to unleash her own hate, anger, and prejudices, all about? Its website gives a clue if AOC had bothered to read it.

The website states that “we’re not ‘left’ or ‘right’ or a political organization of any kind. We’re also not affiliated with any particular church or denomination. We simply want everyone to understand the authentic Jesus as he’s depicted in the Bible — the Jesus of radical forgiveness, compassion, and love.”

The Super Bowl ads are part of an extended multimillion dollar advertising campaign, run by the nonprofit Servant Foundation, that seeks to make Jesus’s life story and teachings more relatable to those who have felt marginalized. Its past ads, for example, have depicted Jesus as a refugee and and as a sufferer of torment for beliefs that were outside the conventional wisdom of the time.

As for the nonprofit Servant Foundation that runs the ad campaign through the ‘He Gets Us’ movement, it has received a 100%, four-star rating from Charity Navigator.

But here we have AOC, a self-described “raised Catholic,” whose support for abortion on demand is diametrically opposed to core Catholic teaching, posing as a reader of Jesus’s mind.

As Catholic League President Bill Donohue noted, AOC was “perturbed because one of the organizations supporting the Jesus ads is Hobby Lobby, the evangelical-run store chain that won an important religious liberty victory in the U.S. Supreme Court.”

David Green, the conservative founder and CEO of the Hobby Lobby store chain, is a major backer of the ‘He Gets Us’ campaign. In 2014, the Supreme Court ruled that Obamacare federal regulations requiring employers to provide cost-free contraception coverage through their health care plans violated the religious rights of the Green family business, Hobby Lobby.

AOC has no use for the family business that won an important victory for religious freedom and whose CEO is supporting the ‘He Gets Us’ ads. AOC believes that the “only time religious freedom is invoked is in the name of bigotry and discrimination.”

AOC used the ‘’fascism” label to attack the ads without, said Mr. Donohue, explaining “what was fascistic about either of the Christian commercials.” That is because AOC has no rational explanation for much of what she utters.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez loves to use the “fascism” slur to demonize anyone or any idea she disagrees with. AOC’s attack on the Super Bowl faith-based ads is only the latest example of her angry displays of histrionics.

In 2019, for example, AOC said that the U.S. was “headed to fascism,” after having previously described illegal immigrant detention facilities as “concentration camps on our southern border.”

By the end of 2019, AOC decided that the United States had already become a fascist country. At a presidential campaign rally for Democrat Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders in late 2019, AOC proclaimed that “what we’re living in right now is not an advanced society… it is fascism.”

AOC focused her anger at the time on the Trump administration. In the leadup to the 2020 presidential election, AOC said that the election was about “stopping fascism in the United States.”

But AOC’s “fascism” war cry has not changed since President Biden came into office. Last fall, prior to the midterm elections, AOC proclaimed, “We are really truly facing an environment of fascism in the United States of America.”

AOC and her left-wing progressive comrades are the real authoritarians with fascist tendencies.

The Left are the ones weaponizing federal law enforcement against law-abiding Americans.

The Left are the ones seeking to infringe upon free speech and who are colluding with left-leaning high-tech companies and the mainstream media to censure information that does not fit their agenda.

The Left are the ones using the public schools to undermine parents’ fundamental rights to direct the upbringing, moral and social development, and education of their children.

The positive message of love and togetherness that the ‘He Gets Us’ ads deliver is a strong antidote to the Left’s attempt to poison America.

Why Leftist Ideologies Always Fail - Mark Lewis

by Mark Lewis

A reflection on the fundamental mistake.

I want to discuss, in the brief space I have, the roots of modern Leftist philosophy, and why they believe government and force are the essentials to a more perfect society. There is an inherent contradiction in their system which would nullify it, but the Leftist’s fundamental understanding of human nature is in error, and thus any arrangement based on it is doomed to failure. And has.

Modern leftism has an interesting history, but one I cannot fully elucidate here. Though it has predecessors (Locke, Helvetius), its current manifestation is rooted in Darwinian materialism (one foundation of Marxism). According to this hypothesis, humans evolved, naturally and by chance, from “lower” forms of life. Pure, undiluted Darwinism, thus pure leftism, is atheistic—no God created or controlled the process. That means human beings are nothing more than blobs of matter in motion. The only difference between you and a cockroach is a different configuration of molecules, and that’s totally by chance. You can no more help being a human than a cockroach can help being a cockroach. There is, of course, some verity to this.

However, since humans are nothing but groups of molecules in motion, we can react only to whatever environmental forces surround us. There is no freedom of choice in such a system. And no free will implies we are not responsible for what we do. Criminals aren’t guilty of “crimes”; it isn’t their fault, they respond exclusively to environmental factors. Also, poverty has been said to be a root cause of crime. Thus, by changing the environment (a “war on poverty”), human behavior can be modified. Put an apple tree in an environment of good water, soil, sunshine, etc., and bigger, tastier, juicier apples will be produced. The apples have no “choice” in the matter, they only respond to their surroundings. Since humans are, like apples, only molecules formed, by chance, into what we are, then, like apples, we will react only to whatever external stimuli we receive. People thus aren’t “good” or “bad” except as their environment dictates.

Leftist intellectuals believe that humans (especially them) have evolved to the point where they can control the evolutionary process, if only we will give them power. They will create a Utopia, by good laws and education, so that everybody can be in a “good” environment and respond accordingly.

This philosophy is, of course, contrary to Christianity and many world religions, which believe that man is, in some ways, the offspring of a Divine Creator, given freedom of choice by that Creator on how they choose to live. Most conservatives believe in a philosophy like this, whether they are “religious” or not. People are not just naturalistic, materialistic animals, with nothing but instinct and response to environment. Some environmental forces are obviously evident in human behavior (culture, tradition, etc.); no one can, or should, deny this. But, in the conservative mind, humans have free will, and can choose to rise above their circumstances and form their own destiny. Not so, says the liberal, people only do “good” or “evil” in response to their (“systemic”) surroundings, whatever stimuli they receive from without. Again, change the stimuli, change the environment, and behavior will automatically be modified. It’s “science.” When people do evil, it’s the fault of the system (capitalism is usually blamed, or now, “white supremacy” and “racism”), not the fault of the individual.

The difference between liberalism and conservatism is thus based on a fundamentally different belief about human nature. Liberals want power so that they can create an earthly paradise. They believe they can now control all environmental factors, including the climate. Conservatives believe in freedom, but a freedom that has boundaries based on eternal principles of right and wrong. Humans can be, must be, incentivized and disciplined towards virtuous conduct, and thus to use their freedom for good, not evil. Family and religion best do this, not government.

Socialism is a prime example of liberal failure. The government, top-down, controls the economy. It never works because it denies humans the freedom to choose their needs and desires, rather than what the elite thinks is best. Nobody can control what another person wishes to purchase. Only the free market fits with human nature.

Liberal morality also is disastrous. Let Edmund Burke explain: “Society cannot exist unless a controlling power upon will and appetite be placed somewhere; and the less of it there is within [freedom of choice], the more there must be without [government tyranny].” People must use their freedom to control themselves—self-government. Or government will have to do it for them. Freedom or tyranny. The Right vs. the Left.

Thus, liberal politicians’ fundamental mistake is believing that human beings can be transformed by legislation, in effect, by force. But they are wrong, and that is why political systems, nations, and dynasties rise for awhile and then collapse. They fail in the most basic concept, viz., that freedom is in the human heart, not produced by government laws. And forcing people to outwardly conform will only lead eventually to resentment, rebellion, and revolution. That is why religion has always existed. Christianity, for example, has survived for 2,000 years through every kind of political system and upheaval. Jesus knew that humans can only truly be changed from within, in the heart, not by external laws. Therefore, religion has always existed, and will continue long after current political tyrannies have either disappeared completely or devolved into something else, something as useless and reprehensible as what they had replaced.

But, religion remains the greatest threat to the self-serving, elitist politicians who lust to control others and create the Shangri-la that gives them totalitarian power. The only people more pitiable than such politicians are the people who believe their lies, lies that have been repeated countless times throughout history, and have cost innumerable people their lives. For, what do you do with the rotten apples, the apples that don’t respond to the perfect environment you created for them?

You destroy them. As many as necessary.
