U.S. Enabling North Korea, So South Korea Wants Nuclear Weapons - Gordon G. Chang

by Gordon G. Chang

America did not allow Pablo Escobar to run criminal cash through New York, so why does America allow China to do that for North Korea?

  • We do not have to wonder if Beijing in fact supports North Korea's weapons programs. China for decades has allowed the North to use Chinese banks to handle proceeds from criminal activities and activities in violation of U.N. sanctions.

  • Such designations [enforcing U.S. money-laundering laws] would put these state banks out of business everywhere outside China.

  • If these banks were to fail, so would China's state-dominated banking system. The failure of the banking system would undoubtedly mean the end of the Chinese economy and financial system. The end of the Communist Party's political system could not be far behind.

  • Whatever the effects of designations, the United States needs to enforce its laws. America did not allow Pablo Escobar to run criminal cash through New York, so why does America allow China to do that for North Korea?

  • "The money Kim Jong Un obtains by fraud, computer hacking, and ransomware and which he uses to build bombs to threaten us is being laundered through our banks. We're giving Xi Jinping and Kim de facto immunity to keep right on doing it." — Joshua Stanton, expert on North Korean sanctions, to Gatestone.

  • No wonder South Korea's Yoon is not particularly impressed with America.

  • South Korea is a signatory to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. If Seoul were to develop nuclear weapons, it would have to withdraw.

  • Perhaps South Korea should withdraw. China, also a signatory, has been freely proliferating nuclear weapons technology to dangerous states, such as Pakistan and Iran, in addition to North Korea, and the United States has done little, sometimes nothing. At the same time, Washington repeatedly stopped South Korea and Taiwan from building nukes.

  • Yoon did the world a favor by exposing the folly of America's nonproliferation policy. Washington needs to stop being afraid of Beijing and start defending allies such as South Korea -- and itself.

South Korea's president has just told the world that he no longer has confidence in the United States. "It's possible that the problem gets worse and our country will introduce tactical nuclear weapons or build them on our own," said President Yoon Suk Yeol (pictured) on January 11. South Korea's president has just told the world that he no longer has confidence in the United States.

"It's possible that the problem gets worse and our country will introduce tactical nuclear weapons or build them on our own," said President Yoon Suk Yeol on January 11, at a joint briefing by his country's defense and foreign ministries. "If that's the case, we can have our own nuclear weapons pretty quickly, given our scientific and technological capabilities."

America has a treaty obligation to defend the Republic of Korea, as South Korea is formally known, and Washington has extended its "nuclear umbrella" to protect it. In other words, the U.S. has pledged it will, if necessary, launch its most destructive weapons at those attacking South Korea. For Yoon to announce that his government might have to arm itself with nukes, therefore, is to in effect announce that he does not trust Washington to honor its word.

Not trust America? That is something America's friends may say in private — NATO allies all the time muttered that in private during the Cold War, for instance — but it is not something America's friends officially say in public, which is what the pro-American Yoon just did.

And Yoon has reason to be distrustful. As David Maxwell of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies told Gatestone, "Today, even a blind man can read the tea leaves and know that [North Korean dictator] Kim Jong Un will not denuclearize despite the fact that his policies have been an abject failure."

One of the most destitute states in the world has consistently gotten the better of the most powerful nation in history. American presidents from Bill Clinton to Joe Biden have completely failed to stop the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) from building nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

The failure to stop North Korea has consequences. The North Koreans, for instance, at any time they want, can turn South Korea into a radioactive slab. Furthermore, the North's Hwasong-17 can reach any part of the United States, and the missile will be able to land a nuclear warhead soon, if it cannot do so already.

There are many reasons for this American failure, but the most important is that Washington had for decades placed more importance in integrating China's Communist Party into the international system than in disarming North Korea. President George W. Bush, for example, put Beijing at the center of the world's efforts to defang Pyongyang by allowing it to run the ill-fated Six-Party Talks, from 2003 to 2009. During that period, Chinese officials used their central role in the negotiations to protect their only formal military ally, North Korea. Even today, the U.S. is still hoping to work with Beijing to rein in the Kim regime, which the Communist Party has no intention of doing. As a result of its efforts to enlist the Chinese, the Biden administration is imposing no costs on China for openly supporting Pyongyang's weaponization efforts.

Why would China support a nuclear North Korea? For just about the same reason it supported the Pakistani nuclear weapons program and today supports the Iranian one. Beijing uses nuclear-armed proxies to keep America and its friends off-balance. The proxies are also good bargaining chips: Just about every time Pyongyang does something provocative, Washington seeks China's help.

We do not have to wonder if Beijing in fact supports North Korea's weapons programs. China for decades has allowed the North to use Chinese banks to handle proceeds from criminal activities and activities in violation of U.N. sanctions.

The Trump administration in June 2017 finally lost patience and, pursuant to Section 311 of the USA PATRIOT Act, designated China's Bank of Dandong to be of "primary money laundering concern." The designation meant the bank could no longer clear dollar transactions through New York.

Yet Trump in 2018 decided not to enforce money-laundering laws against two of the "Big Four" Chinese banks, Agricultural Bank of China and China Construction Bank, which were handling suspicious transactions for North Korea. Another of the Big Four, Bank of China, has been caught red-handed hiding DPRK cash.

Such designations would put these state banks out of business everywhere outside China.

If these banks were to fail, so would China's state-dominated banking system. The failure of the banking system would undoubtedly mean the end of the Chinese economy and financial system. The end of the Communist Party's political system could not be far behind.

Whatever the effects of designations, the United States needs to enforce its laws. America did not allow Pablo Escobar to run criminal cash through New York, so why does America allow China to do that for North Korea?

Today, Pyongyang is still using Chinese banks. "Recent U.S. government advisories confirm that China is still the main enabler of North Korea's money laundering," Joshua Stanton, who has assisted Congress on drafting North Korea sanctions, told Gatestone this month. "The Biden administration has yet to impose a significant penalty on a major Chinese bank or corporation for violating North Korea sanctions."

"This failure is a choice," said Stanton, who also writes on North Korea sanctions issues at One Free Korea, to this publication last year. "The money Kim Jong Un obtains by fraud, computer hacking, and ransomware and which he uses to build bombs to threaten us is being laundered through our banks. We're giving Xi Jinping and Kim de facto immunity to keep right on doing it."

No wonder South Korea's Yoon is not particularly impressed with America.

Yoon tried to walk back his words on the day after his stunning remarks. "The most important part of his comments yesterday was that, as a realistic measure at the moment, it's important to effectively strengthen extended deterrence within the security alliance between South Korea and the United States," said an unnamed official from Yoon's office to reporters. "However, when it comes to security, the worst-case scenario must always be taken into consideration, and from that perspective, he was making his commitment and determination ever clearer to protect the people as commander-in-chief against the escalating threat of North Korea's nuclear weapons."

South Korea is a signatory to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. If Seoul were to develop nuclear weapons, it would have to withdraw.

Perhaps South Korea should withdraw.

Yoon did the world a favor by exposing the folly of America's nonproliferation policy. Washington needs to stop being afraid of Beijing and start defending allies such as South Korea -- and itself.

US may help Ukraine strike Crimea - NYT report - Jerusalem Post Staff

by Jerusalem Post Staff

US officials believe that assisting Ukrainian operations in Crimea may be worth it as Washington seeks to strengthen Kyiv’s position in future negotiations.

Several anonymous US officials told The New York Times that they are growing more comfortable with the idea of helping Ukraine advance an attack on the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula on Wednesday.

The Crimean Peninsula, which has been under Russian control since its annexation in 2014, has become further integrated into Russia’s state infrastructure since it invaded Ukraine in early 2022. While the US has maintained that Crimea is still part of Ukraine, it has hesitated to become too involved in the Crimean battlefield.

According to the officials, fears that Russia would retaliate using tactical nuclear weapons have been assuaged, meaning the risk of assisting Ukrainian operations in Crimea may be worth it as the US seeks to strengthen Kyiv’s position in any future negotiations.

What is so important about Crimea?

Situated between the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, Crimea is home to roughly 2.4 million inhabitants – including around 70,000 Russian troops.

Illegally annexed in 2014, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed in August to restore Ukrainian rule over Russia-annexed Crimea, a move that he said would help re-establish "world law and order."

"It all began with Crimea, and it will end with Crimea," Zelensky said in an address at the time.

Russia has shown no sign of abandoning Crimea, home to its Black Sea fleet, and has used the peninsula as a platform to launch missile strikes on Ukrainian targets. Major Russian bank Sberbank, which has faced tremendous international sanctions since the war began, announced Wednesday that it has begun operations in occupied Crimea.

American officials said they are discussing sending HIMARS rocket systems and Bradley fighting vehicles to Ukrainian forces so they can fight for control of the Crimean bridge – a critical supply route for Russia’s war effort.

“Ukraine could use Bradleys to move forces down major roads, such as the M14, which connects Kherson, Melitopol and Mariupol,” Seth G. Jones, a senior vice president at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, told the Times.

“Any Ukrainian infantry advancing through these areas would face significant fire from Russian positions, and Bradleys offer helpful firepower and protection for troops.”

GOP congressmen demand immigration parole answers from the Biden administration - The Center Square Staff

by The Center Square Staff

Letter says Biden administration created the worst border crisis in U.S. history in the first year of Secretary Mayorkas’ leadership and made things worse in second year.

Republican U.S. senators and House members are demanding the Biden administration explain what they called a reckless decision to expand immigration parole programs.

The letter sent to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Wednesday morning says the Biden administration continues to worsen the border crisis. The also called the decision to expand the programs radical.

“Since the day they took office, President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas have purposefully and maliciously eroded our nation’s border security. They have presided over the worst border crisis we’ve seen in decades and more illegal immigration than any administration in recent history. Now, they aim to sidestep Congress and the law by granting parole to hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants,” said Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, said.

Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Arizona, said Mayorkas testified immigrant parole is judged on a case-by-case basis, but the congressman said he has seen evidence to support that testimony.

“Instead, his department is abusing the parole authority to mass-release hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens into the country. The department’s latest announcement reveals that it will continue to proceed and even accelerate this abuse as parole grants will increase by 33% from just last month. It’s unclear where the department derives legal authority to parole groups of this size and how this policy change enhances border security. As usual, the department has some explaining to do and I’m grateful for Senator Vance’s partnership in this effort,” Biggs said.

The letter said the Biden administration created the worst border crisis in U.S. history in the first year of Mayorkas’ leadership and became worse in the administration’s second year. It says 30,000 monthly increases in paroles under the policy would be a 33% increase over the parole totals from December.

“In the wake of its own failures to effectively address the border crisis, the Biden Administration has also prohibited states from implementing policies to deal with illegal immigration themselves and limited the tools available to border patrol agents,” the letter reads. “This administration cannot continue its erosion of the southern border and its mass-parole of migrants into our country. A secure country demands secure borders.”

The letter asked for Mayorkas to respond by Jan. 27.

The letter was also signed by Republican Sens. Mike Braun of Indiana; Ted Budd of North Carolina; Bill Cassidy of Louisiana; Ted Cruz of Texas; Josh Hawley of Missouri; Ron Johnson of Wisconsin; Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming; Eric Schmitt of Missouri; and Rick Scott of Florida.

It was also signed by Republican U.S. Reps. Brian Babin, Beth Van Duyne, Michael Cloud, Lance Gooden, Ronny Jackson and Randy Weber of Texas; Jim Banks of Indiana; Dan Bishop of North Carolina; Lauren Boebert and Ken Buck of Colorado; Eric Burlison of Missouri; Eli Crane, Debbie Lesko and Paul Gosar of Arizona; Warren Davidson of Ohio; Matt Gaetz of Florida; Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia; Diana Harshbarger and Andy Ogles of Tennessee; Tom McClintock of California; Ralph Norman of South Carolina; Matt Rosendale of Montana; and Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin.

2024: Republicans on Course to Get Blown Out by Phantoms - Jay Valentine

by Jay Valentine

No one at the top — not Trump, not DeSantis — is doing anything to fight the ballot fraud that will plague 2024. But we are.

Trump or DeSantis?  It doesn't matter.  Phantom voters will decide 2024.  The phantoms are not voting for either.

Those working deep in swing state voter rolls can tell you with 100% certainty that unless Trump or DeSantis wins with a 5%-to-18% margin in swing states, they will lose every one.

Let's do some electioneering math.

To win the presidency, about a dozen swing states matter — we all know who they are.  Some will add Georgia, Virginia, and Arizona, some not.

President Trump won in 2016 because he caught the leftists off guard.  Perhaps even Trump was surprised on Election Night — the surprise was so complete!

In 2020, the Dems took no chances.

They had everything wired — but our boy Trump surprised them again — so they shut down the election apparatus at 11:00 P.M. and took matters into their own hands.  Nine hours later, problem solved: Joe Biden emerges from a basement, incoherent, to take the oath of office.

That, people, is hardball — professional, take-no-prisoners electioneering.  You may hate that the country is being lost, but you must stand back at the sheer breathtaking gall it reflects.

You would think rational electioneers in the Republican Party would, in 2022, do everything to stop the election jiggering that took place in 2020.  You would be wrong.

Republicans like Speaker Vos in Wisconsin, the election commission in Maricopa County, New Hampshire RINOs, and the Republican leader in the Senate all stood aside and let the leftists do their thing — thus the Red Trickle.

As the parties pick their candidates for 2024, assembling multi-million-dollar consultant-led electioneering teams, not a dollar is spent on cleaning election rolls.

Let's do an equation.  A bet, perhaps.

You and I bet on anything.  You pick the bet.

But I have a 5–18% advantage in my pocket.

No matter what you do, I win.

Every swing state has between 5% and 18% of its election rolls — people, addresses — that are deliberately wrong, misspelled, incorrect, written without an apartment number — scores of opportunities for inserting fraudulent voters.

If you were in Las Vegas, playing blackjack, and had a 5–18% advantage over the dealer, the casino would be bankrupt by dawn.

Yet this is exactly what Trump and DeSantis face as they launch their campaigns or stealth campaigns — whatever.

We got front-row seats for this phenomenon in Arizona this year.

Our team was asked to do the expert witness report for the Kari Lake campaign — after they got swamped.  We cannot release the findings, but some of them were later validated with someone else's data — and we can talk about that.

In Maricopa County alone, between October and the November election — 30 days — there were 22,000 new voters added.  There were 30,000 or more ZIP code changes.  There were 107,000 voter roll changes, from address modifications to name changes to phone changes.

Thirty days!  Immediately before the election!

We can say with certainty that if Kari Lake's team had monitored voter rolls in one county alone, for a 90-day period before the election, she would have made up the 17,000-vote difference by a factor of more than 2.

Lake's team could have challenged the thousands of new voters registered after the cutoff date.  They could have monitored the literally hundreds of addresses where ballots collected — and were later voted — by phantoms whose signatures never matched.

In her lawsuit, her quite gifted attorneys showed mountains of ballot signatures that did not even closely match the signature of the supposed voter.

Every one of those screwy signatures is a phantom — and they could have been identified, challenged, removed before they were brought up from the dead mist to defeat our girl Kari.

Any Election Day interference with screwing around with printers would not have been enough to stop her.

Kari Lake is the model for Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis in 2024.

Kari Lake was winning by 8–10 points.  They took her out with phantoms' signatures and misaligned printers.  Neither Trump nor DeSantis is going to come close to winning any swing state by 8–10 points.

It's over before it begins.

Kari Lake took no action to clean voter rolls.  Neither Trump nor DeSantis nor the Republican Party nor most state parties are cleaning voter rolls, either.

That thankless task is left to volunteer teams of activists, working from basements, at kitchen tables with antiquated software and few resources.  Even the Republican billionaire class has abandoned any interest in cleaning voter rolls and rather is spending a pittance to determine "what went wrong."

What went wrong is that your opponents control the election apparatus in every state and county that matters, and the candidate class, the consultant class, and the billionaire class think cleaning voter rolls is just too icky.

Thus, in 2024, the phantoms will pick the president.

Maybe not.

The overriding lesson in 2022 from the voter integrity team front was that county registrars and judges will not clean voter rolls, even when shown clear evidence that those 25 voters could not live in that apartment building, being framed, with the cement mixer still on the lawn.

These crusty teams are not stopping.  They are doubling down.

Together, Nevada, Florida, and Wisconsin teams are working with the Fractal Programming team to build the UnDeliverable Ballot Database.  Internally, they call it UDB-1, which does give it kind of a techy ring.

The UnDeliverable Ballot Database has some important subtleties.  There is more there than appears on first glance.

The key to phantoms is their output — a ballot, cast by someone, for a leftist.  The ballot is the ammo.  Each ballot has to be mailed to a phantom.

While the phantom does not live there — at the church, homeless shelter, hotel, apartment building — the ballot will still be delivered there.  It is then collected, voted, signed, and later Kari Lake files a lawsuit because the signatures don't match.

The UnDeliverable Database tracks every address — not just voters — in America.  Every address is on the property roll and the voter roll.  One address, the 7-11, is able to get mail.  But it had better not get a ballot.

Every apartment building, multi-family home is under scrutiny.  If it is matched to Bill Jones, and our pal Bill did not list an "APT #" on his registration, this address will get a ballot, but it won't get to Bill.

We flag it so it can be challenged before the election.

In 2021, with support from Mike Lindell, our team built a list of 1.7 billion U.S. addresses.

When one includes misspellings, different ways of showing the same address, addresses changing from one date to another, they get to a billion pretty fast.

Since we have someone's address from 20 different databases he entered — all public — we know more about his address than he does.

The UnDeliverable Database, run at scale with Fractal Programming, explained on our site at www.Omega4America.com, is becoming a vital resource for 2024.

We feel bad that we were not allowed to help in Arizona in 2020, but we sure are going to show up in 2024.

While Trump and DeSantis do their thing, which is not cleaning voter rolls, the teams in Wisconsin, Nevada, Florida, and soon a dozen other states will be there when the smoke clears.

We identify every address in America where a ballot can be mailed — yet cannot connect with a voter.  Let's cut off their ammo.

Oops: Biden Torpedoes the Left’s Entire Jan. 6 ‘Insurrection’ Narrative - Robert Spencer

by Robert Spencer

When you just can't keep the story straight.

As Rick Moran noted on Tuesday, Old Joe Biden just boasted again about how powerless patriots are against his all-powerful and increasingly authoritarian federal behemoth. Biden practically thumped his chest as he declared: “I love my right-wing friends who talk about” – and here he mockingly imitated their dramatic tones – “‘the tree of liberty is water of the blood of patriots.’ If you need to work about taking on the federal government, you need some F-15s. You don’t need an R– AR-15.”

Has any president in American history so delighted in taunting his citizens? And has anyone noticed how Biden, in a single mangled quip, just destroyed two years of the Left’s painstaking work in constructing the Jan. 6 “insurrection” narrative?

Biden’s quote from his “right-wing friends,” “the tree of liberty is water of the blood of patriots,” was, as Rick noted, a garbled version of Thomas Jefferson’s adage: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.” Biden was saying, of course, that in our age, such sacrifices were fruitless: the federal government is so powerful that it is unassailable, and so as its tyranny grows, unless patriots can somehow get hold of some fighter jets, they were out luck.

All right, Joe. Point taken. But wait a minute here. On Jan. 6, 2022, Biden stood in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building and said solemnly: “One year ago today, in this sacred place, democracy was attacked — simply attacked. The will of the people was under assault. The Constitution — our Constitution — faced the gravest of threats.”

Then on Jan. 6, 2023, he said it again: “Two years ago, on January the 6th, our democracy was attacked. There’s no other way of saying it. The U.S. Capitol was breached, which had never happened before in the history of the United States of America, even during the Civil War. A violent mob of insurrectionists assaulted law enforcement, vandalized sacred halls, hunted down elected officials — all for the purpose of an attempt to overthrow the will of the people and usurp the peaceful transfer of power.”

As we have come to expect from Joe Biden, none of this was true, not even the bit about how the U.S. Capitol had never before been breached in American history. Back in 1814, just before Old Joe entered the Senate, the British burned the Capitol building. Then in 2007, Biden told David Letterman that he himself had breached it, accidentally, at age 21 (which was in 1963, kids, 59 years ago).

Biden claimed fancifully that he wandered into the Senate chamber: “In those days, no guards stopping you everywhere. And they just got out of session. I walked in the back, all of the sudden I found myself in the chamber. I was stunned. I walked up, sat down in the presiding officer’s seat, guy grabbed by the shoulder, said: ‘you’re under arrest.’” Joe is well-established as a serial liar, so this story is best taken with a massive amount of sodium and serves as a reminder that the alleged president can by no means be taken at his word.

That’s doubly true for his nonsense about how the defenders of “our democracy” on Jan. 6, 2021 were “outnumbered and in the face of a brutal attack,” but nonetheless, “our democracy held. We the people endured. And we the people prevailed.” The Jan. 6 protesters were not armed. Was there ever really any possibility that they would actually overcome the combined force of, as Joe enumerates them, “the Capitol Police, the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, the National Guard, and other brave law enforcement officials”? They had no leader (with the highly questionable exception of Ray Epps), no plan, no goal, no weapons. They were let into the Capitol by police officers who held the doors open for them.

If Joe Biden were consistent and honest, and of course, those ships have sailed a long, long time ago, he would admit that there was absolutely no danger of the government falling on Jan. 6, 2021. The protesters didn’t have F-15s, or AR-15s either, for that matter, and now Old Joe has stated openly that without that kind of firepower, patriots don’t stand a chance against tyranny. But if that’s true, then the Jan. 6 “insurrectionists” never had a chance.

In reality, of course, there was no insurrection at all. The whole thing is a massive lie that the Left has constructed in order to discredit, marginalize, and destroy the America-First faction in American politics. Biden, in the grip of dementia, can’t keep the story straight, and now he has inadvertently torpedoed the entire Leftist narrative.

Leftist Anti-Police Terrorist Killed After Shooting at State Troopers - Daniel Greenfield

by Daniel Greenfield

"If you build it, we will burn it!"

Georgia has some issues, but the game is still played very differently there than in Portland or Seattle where the level of leftist violence has reached domestic terrorism proportions.

Georgia state troopers helping conduct a “clearing operation” at the site of Atlanta’s planned public safety training center exchanged gunfire with a protester Wednesday morning, leaving the protester dead and one trooper wounded, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The protester, who was accused of firing first, was believed to be a male. His identity was not immediately released.

When an attacker is linked to the right, the media is very quick to put the political affiliation front and center. But the usual rule of thumb is that the right exists and the left does not. You can go through entire articles about the attack and the context without ever seeing ‘left’ or any specific political reference.

Activist groups such as Defend the Atlanta Forest have since cropped up and are attempting to prevent the facility’s construction. The group said Wednesday on Twitter that police had killed a “forest defender today, someone who loved the forest, someone who fought to protect the earth & its inhabitants.”

Members of the group have occupied trees on the wooded property, building tree sits and other shelters in the forests. In June, the group released a statement that said, “Climate change and police violence are two of the most pressing issues affecting our society today, and they will only worsen if this facility is built. We cannot stand by as we sacrifice humanity’s future for a Cop City.”

Same people didn’t care about the trees before there was a police center to be built there.

The media fails to provide any meaningful political context. Instead, it celebrates the leftist terrorists.

In December, five people were arrested and charged with domestic terrorism and other charges after allegedly throwing rocks and bottles at the training center, officials said. For months, protesters have allegedly destroyed property, committed arson and carjackings and thrown rocks, bottles and other items at police, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.

The DeKalb District Attorney’s Office told CBS News it is pursuing domestic terrorism charges against all five protesters. One of the arrested protesters, Ariel Ebaugh, 22, of Stockbridge, Georgia has been charged with two counts of firearm possession during a commission of a felony, the DA’s office confirmed.

And worse than that.

The GBI and other law enforcement agencies “embrace a citizen’s right to protest, but law enforcement can’t stand by while serious criminal acts are being committed that jeopardize the safety of the citizens we’re sworn to protect,” Register said.

People are “illegally occupying” the area and are committing criminal acts that endanger the community, including arson, beating people up, using explosives and setting booby traps that have the potential to seriously hurt someone, he said.

The leftists are vocally threatening violence.

More than 150 people gathered to mourn the man’s death during a candlelight vigil Wednesday evening in Atlanta’s Little Five Points neighborhood, an area known as a hub for counterculture movements.

Activists said they did not have much information about the morning’s incident and did not know the identity of the person who was killed. But they called for an investigation into the shooting, urging the public and the media to reject the police “narrative” that officers were shooting in self-defense.

The group then took to the streets, blocking a busy intersection and throwing scooters in front of cars as others held a large banner reading, “Trees give life. Police take it.”

“Stop Cop City!” the group yelled, followed by, “If you build it, we will burn it!”

This is a domestic terrorist group and should be treated as one.

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism.

Putin ally Medvedev warns NATO of nuclear war if Russia defeated in Ukraine - Reuters

Medvedev said NATO and other defense leaders should think about the risks of their policy.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, an ally of Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin, warned the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on Thursday that the defeat of Russia in Ukraine could trigger a nuclear war.

"The defeat of a nuclear power in a conventional war may trigger a nuclear war," Medvedev, who serves as deputy chairman of Putin's powerful security council, said in a post on Telegram.

"Nuclear powers have never lost major conflicts on which their fate depends," said Medvedev, who served as president from 2008 to 2012.

Medvedev said NATO and other defense leaders, due to meet at Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Friday to talk about strategy and support for the West's attempt to defeat Russia in Ukraine, should think about the risks of their policy.

The Kremlin said Medvedev's remarks that the defeat of Russia in Ukraine could trigger a nuclear war were in full accordance with Moscow's nuclear doctrine.

"Nuclear powers have never lost major conflicts on which their fate depends."

Russia and the United States, by far the largest nuclear powers, hold around 90% of the world's nuclear warheads. Putin is the ultimate decision maker on the use of nuclear weapons.

While NATO has conventional military superiority over Russia, when it comes to nuclear weapons, Russia has nuclear superiority over the alliance in Europe.

Putin casts Russia's "special military operation" in Ukraine as an existential battle with an aggressive and arrogant West, and has said that Russia will use all available means to protect itself and its people against any aggressor.

 War

Russia’s February 24 invasion of Ukraine has triggered one of the deadliest European conflicts since World War Two and the biggest confrontation between Moscow and the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

The United States and its allies have condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine as an imperial land grab, while Ukraine has vowed to fight until the last Russian soldier is ejected from its territory.

Since a grim New Year's Eve message describing the West as Russia's true enemy in the war on Ukraine, Putin has sent several signals that Russia will not back down. He has despatched hypersonic missiles to the Atlantic and appointed his top general to run the war.

Putin said on Wednesday that Russia's powerful military-industrial complex was ramping up production and was one of the main reasons why his country would prevail in Ukraine.

Russia's nuclear doctrine allows for a nuclear strike after "aggression against the Russian Federation with conventional weapons when the very existence of the state is threatened."

Washington has not detailed what it would do if Putin ordered what would be the first use of nuclear weapons in war since the United States unleashed the first atomic bomb attacks on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

Medvedev, 57, who once presented himself as a reformer who was ready to work with the United States to liberalize Russia, has recast himself since the war as the most publicly hawkish member of Putin's circle.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine, Medvedev has repeatedly raised the threat of nuclear chaos and used insults to describe the West.

Russia has 5,977 nuclear warheads while the United States has 5,428, China 350, France 290 and the United Kingdom 225, according to the Federation of American Scientists.

A joint Israeli American strategy against Iran and a possible normalization deal between Saudi Arabia and the Jewish state were among the top agenda items that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed on Thursday when he met in Jerusalem with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan

The two men discussed the joint effort between their countries to halt Iran's nuclear program and Tehran's destabilizing activities in the region, according to the Prime Minister's Office.

Sullivan underscored for Netanyahu that US President Joe Biden is committed to preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

When it came to the region the two men also spoke about expanding the Abraham Accords under whose auspices Israel normalized ties with four Arab countries.

Israeli officials have recently issued a number of statements about a possible pending deal with Saudi Arabia.

The PMO said there was an "emphasis" on such a deal during Thursday's talks.

The meeting is held amid Israeli-Palestinian tensions

Sullivan arrived amid tensions between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, which led a successful campaign that culminated last month in UN General Assembly to request from the International Court of justice for an advisory opinion on the illegality of the "occupation."

Israel has since leveled financial sanctions on the PA and halted Palestinian construction in Area C of the West Bank, which is under IDF military and civilian control.

Netanyahu told Sullivan that the Palestinian push for an ICJ opinion was a direct attack against the Jewish state that justified its response.

At a press point before the meeting, Netanyahu recalled his friendship with Biden which dates back to the 1980s and lauded the US President as a true friend of Israel.

"I have known President Biden for 40 years as a great friend of Israel and I know how much he trusts you in matters of national security.

"You should know that we see you as a trusted partner in matters of assuring security and of course advancing peace. Today you come at a special time because we have acute challenges to our security and vast opportunities for peace.

"I am convinced that by working together we can both meet the challenges and realize the opportunities and that it's something that bolsters our extraordinary alliance but can change the region and can change history," he said.

Sullivan said he brought greetings from US President.

"As you know his commitment to the state of Israel is bone-deep and America's commitment to Israel is ironclad. It's a commitment that is rooted in shared history and shared interests and shared values. You just laid out a wide-ranging agenda for us to cover. And I agree with you we have to talk about both the challenges but also the real opportunities that our two countries have to work for a better future."

Participants in an expanded meeting included Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, Netanyahu's Chief of Staff Tzachi Braverman, National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi, Israeli Ambassador to the US Mike Herzog, Deputy Assistant to Biden Brett McGurk and US Ambassador to Israel Thomas Nides.

Sullivan also met separately with Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, Hanegbi and Mossad Chief David Barnea. He is expected to meet later with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Top Republican torches Hunter Biden wrinkle in docs probe: 'We're looking into that' - Charles Creitz

by Charles Creitz

Hannity said Hunter's reported Delaware rent payment matches Florida, not Philadelphia suburbs.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer questioned first son Hunter Biden's purported ties to his father's New Castle County, Delaware, home, where classified documents were found.

On "Hannity," host Sean Hannity cited reports Hunter used the Barley Mill Road address of President Biden's Wilmington-area home as his own on official forms, including a background check document and his credit card account in 2018.

Hannity cited a reported $50,000 per month payment, remarking such a sum would be a realistic amount for prime real estate in Florida or California, but not necessarily in Wilmington's albeit tony Greenville suburb.

"Yeah, that doesn't make sense. We're looking into that," Comer responded, adding the revelation is one reason his panel is requesting bank records and wants more information on Hunter's reported "suspicious activity reports" from the U.S. Treasury.

These suspicious activity reports include large cash transactions or transfers above $5,000, Reuters reported. Such reports could indicate fraud or money laundering, or they could also be entirely legal.

"We're going to be looking at tax records just like the House Ways and Means Committee did on former President Trump. We're going to continue to look into this and all other areas of revenue from Joe Biden and from the Biden family," Comer said, adding he further wants to know how much of Hunter's funds "trickled down to Joe Biden."

Of his planned hearings, Comer said the American people "will learn a lot about what influence peddling is and how much involved Joe Biden was with the family influence peddling schemes."

In terms of the classified documents saga writ large, Comer said the public would likely never have known about it if it weren't for investigative journalism – pointing to the timeline in which the first cache of documents were discovered days before the 2020 midterm elections but not publicized until earlier this month.

"This just shows how irresponsible the president is. It shows that they haven't been truthful," he said.

Democrats, he said, have also been disingenuous in that they have often defended Biden by saying he "did the right thing" by immediately notifying the National Archives or other relevant agencies because the existence of them in such places is a scandal in itself.

"[W]e only found out about it because of an investigative report. It wasn't because they stood up at the press conference and said they had done this. We would never know about this. We don't know that there were only five documents initially."

Hannity later asked Comer about his recent urging of FBI Director Christopher Wray to look into Hunter's relationship with suspected Chinese spy JiaQi "Jackie" Bao.

Comer is reportedly concerned with Bao's links to the family while both the president's brother, James, and son Hunter accrued $4.8 million from a Chinese government-linked energy company, according to the New York Post.

"We're looking into [Bao]," Comer said on "Hannity." "[T]his is something that that should be very concerning."

"She was born in America. She went to China to a university, the university that has a reputation of developing their spies and developing their cyberattackers and things like that."

"Once she graduated, she went to work for the CCP – that was on her resume… This isn't speculation. We know that she worked there for several years and then moved back to the United States. And lo and behold, she started working for Hunter Biden," Comer said.

Former Obama ethics chief excoriates Biden over classified document storage - Ben Whedon

by Ben Whedon

"Biden's own retention of classified records reflects an inexcusable neglect of the most basic security protocols."

Amid the discovery of classified documents at multiple locations occupied by President Joe Biden, a former ethics chief from the Obama administration has decried the commander-in-chief's management of sensitive materials.

"It's nothing like Trump's deliberate refusal to return classified records demanded by the National Archives, but Biden's own retention of classified records reflects an inexcusable neglect of the most basic security protocols," former United States Office of Government Ethics Director Walter Shaub told Fox News. "The fact that the White House didn't mention that records were found in more than one location when first asked about them was a breach of trust with the public and a self-inflicted wound."

The November discovery of classified documents at Biden's former office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington became public this month and has subjected the White House to intense scrutiny, given Biden's furious condemnation of former President Donald Trump for his own storage of classified materials at his Florida estate. The subsequent discovery of additional materials at Biden's Delaware home has further compounded the issue.

Biden has indicated he was "surprised" to learn of the materials in the Penn Biden Center but indicated he was aware of the documents at his home. Biden has defended his storage of the second batch, asserting they were locked in his garage alongside his Corvette.

Republicans have been quick to highlight the contrasts between the Department of Justice's handling of the Trump affair, which saw FBI agents raid his estate in August of last year, and its handling of Biden's classified documents scandal. Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed special counsel Robert Hur to handle the Biden matter after previously tasking special counsel Jack Smith to investigate the Trump-related issues.

Democrats, such as Shaub, have attempted to distinguish between the two investigations, pointing to Biden's surrender of the documents and supposed cooperation with the DOJ. Prior to the August, 2022, raid on his home, former President Donald Trump cooperated with a grand jury subpoena and surrendered documents stored at his Mar-a-Lago estate to FBI agents.

Shaub, nonetheless, approved of the appointment of Hur as special counsel and indicated an expectation that his inquiry would likely not result in major legal repercussions for Biden.

"Based on what we know so far, it seems unlikely that he's at risk of any legal consequences, but I'm glad Garland appointed a special counsel to show even-handed treatment of the current and former president," he concluded.
