Biden’s Secretary of State chastises Russian government for locking up opposition leader - Eric Utter

by Eric Utter

The situation is so ludicrous, you might be tempted to believer we were being watched on one of those hidden camera prank shows.

American Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently issued a tweet condemning Russia’s prosecution of opposition leader Aleksey Navalny. On August 4th, a Russian court convicted Navalny on charges of “extremism” and sentenced him to 19 years in prison. This was one day after former (and possibly future) President Donald Trump was arraigned in federal court on transparently bogus charges related to his questioning the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election and his role in the Capitol riot of Jan. 6, 2021.

Incredibly, Blinken tweeted:

The United States strongly condemns Russia’s conviction of opposition leader Aleksey Navalny on politically motivated charges. The Kremlin cannot silence the truth. Navalny should be released.

He must have giggled to himself after posting this. He should have added “#hypocrisy #chutzpah.”

The Biden administration in its entirety, including the DOJ, CIA, FBI, and various other now rogue and weaponized federal agencies, has been diligently trying to convict and imprison Trump since the day Biden took office.

Blinken’s missive is akin to Hitler chastising the U.S. for mistreating Jews. It’s as if a Klansman reminded Clarence Thomas to treat black folks with the fairness and dignity they deserve. It would be like Teddy Kennedy cautioning Ronald Reagan to “drive sober.”

The Biden administration acts more like a junta than a duly elected assemblage of “public servants” acting in the best interests of the citizens they allegedly serve. Its members no longer feel the need to hide their lust for power, their disdain for democratic processes and the non-elites in flyover country—or their confidence in believing they have successfully rigged national elections for the foreseeable future.

FBI expert says evidence now justifies bribery, money laundering probe of Biden family - Charlotte Hazard

by Charlotte Hazard

Brock said that President Biden could be looked into under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Former FBI Assistant Director of Intelligence Kevin Brock said Thursday that the recent information disclosed by members of Congress on the Biden family warrants bribery and money laundering investigations.

"With the amount of money that they're uncovering-with the structured money laundering that's obviously been set up, we can conclude that Joe Biden and his family were for sale," Brock said on the "Just the News, No Noise" television show. "And that was just certainly a reasonable suspicion to investigate based on those indicators."

Congressional investigators disclosed Wednesday that firms tied to the Biden family collected more than $20 million from foreign sources, including big payments from controversial oligarchs who afterwards had private dinners with Joe Biden when he was vice president.

The memo outlined numerous foreign payments, including from from persons tied to Russia, China, Ukraine, and Romania.

Brock added that Biden could face an inquiry under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

"Absolutely. That, as well as the FARA [Foreign Agents Registration Act] violations that were never charged," he said.

Brock further suggested that investigators ought to explore the breadth of the alleged operation, saying "[a]s an investigator, I'd want to know, does this conspiracy go broader than just the Biden family?"

"Are there others in that administration at that time that were benefiting from all this activity?" he continued. "So I'd widen the scope a little bit, and start really digging and following the money wherever it leads. And I frankly, wouldn't be surprised if this has broader parameters."

Congress probing FBI collection of phone location data as J6 civil liberty concerns rise - John Solomon

by John Solomon

Geofence warrants -- used to gather phone location records of all people in a certain vicinity -- are relatively new tool raising constitutional concerns

The House Judiciary Committee on Thursday launched a broad inquiry into the FBI's use of "geofence warrants" to sweep up large buckets of Americans' cell phone location data, a relatively new tool that is raising questions about search and seizure powers that date all the way back to the country's founding,

The tactic came to prominence during the Jan. 6 riot investigation when it was revealed more than 5,000 American phone devices had location data gathered by the FBI in a digital dragnet designed to identify anyone who was in or near the U.S. Capitol that fateful day.

That geofence warrant plus revelations that the FBI accepted bank records volunteered by a major bank without seeking a warrant or subpoena have trigged concerns of both liberals and conservatives of a modern-day end run around the 4th Amendment.

"The use of geofence warrants raises serious Constitutional concerns," House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Jordan wrote Attorney General Merrick Garland in a letter Thursday announcing the congressional inquiry. "First, location history data is not an exact science as the geo-location data represents only a probable estimation of a device’s location within a given radius and margin of error. Second, a geofence warrant is inherently tied to a specific location—not a known suspect, user, account, or crime.

"For that reason, among others, courts have wavered on whether searches pursuant to geofence warrants comply with the Fourth Amendment’s requirements of probable cause and particularity," Jordan added.

You can read the full letter here.

In an interview with Just the News, Jordan said the geofence warrant inquiry was part of a larger effort to help Congress modernize civil liberty protections in an era of unprecedented digital surveillance and technological data gathering that also includes bank records and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that was abused during the Russia collusion scandal.

"We know that regarding Jan. 6, a couple years ago that the FBI was looking to get your your phone data location, where you were in relation to the Capitol, were you around the Capitol," Jordan told the John Solomon Reports podcast. "And it was just sort of this blanket approach No predicate to say you know Sally Smith, or John Jones was here. We have reasonable belief they did this. We'd like to know we want to double check that. Nothing like that. Just a blanket.

"And then you couple this with what we learned from a testimony from a whistleblower at the FBI, a few months back, where Bank of America just turned over their customers debit card and credit card purchases in the DC area around Jan. 6 2021. I mean, this is scary stuff," he added. "It's so contrary to the principles that our country was founded on. Like, you can't just have the government sweep up everything about you trying to find out if you did something wrong. That's not how our system works.

"But it sure looks like that's what's happening in modern day America, particularly with this Biden administration."

Jordan's letter raised a second concern that geo-fence warrants may have been "weaponized for political ends" by the Justice Department, approved against conservatives and Trump protesters but not against liberal activists from the 2020 George Floyd riots.

"Federal law enforcement’s interest in geofenced data appears selective," he wrote. "For example, in 2020, Minnesota police sought a geofence warrant to investigate violent rioting in Minneapolis and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) used geofence warrants to investigate arson throughout Kenosha, Wisconsin. However, it seems that the FBI did not pursue geofenced data to investigate the violent crime occurring at federal facilities during a similar time frame.

"In contrast, the FBI readily used geofencing at an unprecedented scope and scale as a part of its investigation and prosecution of the events of January 6, 2021," he added.

Jordan is hardly alone, as civil libertarians on both sides of the political spectrum have raised opposition in recent months to the growing use of geofence warrants.

The left-leaning American Civil Liberties Union joined eight federal public defenders this year to ask a federal appeals court to exclude mobile device location data obtained from Google from a geofence warrant that helped nab a bank robbery suspect.

The nonpartisan, nonprofit Electronic Privacy Information also recently intervened in a Colorado case, warning that geofencing and another broad data gathering tool called "keyword warrants" -- where Americans searches of a certain term are swept up -- violate the 4th Amendment because they are too broad and lack probable cause.

"While advances in technology have potential to enhance our lives, the government and courts must guard against abuses, including invasive surveillance," EPIC wrote.

Comer to subpoena Biden family members - Ben Whedon

by Ben Whedon

"This is always going to end with the Bidens coming in front of the committee," he said.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Thursday said that his committee would eventually issue subpoenas to the members of the Biden family and potentially President Joe Biden.

"This is always going to end with the Bidens coming in front of the committee. We are going to subpoena the family," he said on Fox Business. "We know that this is going to end up in court when we subpoena the Bidens. So we’re putting together a case, and I think we’ve done that very well. We’ve shown the bank records."

"If I had subpoenaed Joe and Hunter Biden the first day I became chairman of the committee, it would have been tied up in court and the judge would have eventually thrown it out," he continued. "We have put together a case that I think would stand up in any court of law in America."

Appearing on the "Just the News, No Noise" television show one day prior, Comer expressed hope that his investigation would lead to legislative changes to curtail influence peddling operations.

"This should have been caught years ago, this should have been caught by the Obama administration, what Joe Biden was doing, they had to know, especially when he went to Ukraine and withheld that foreign aid, and was so adamantly involved in firing the prosecutor who was investigating his son's corrupt company, the Obama administration had to know about this," he opined. "So this is something that in the end, will be successful, because we're going to prevent this from happening in the future."

Comer's remarks follow the committee's publication of documents outlining more than $20 million in payments to firms connected with the Biden family from foreign nationals from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine.

American Officials Admit Giving ‘Mistaken’ Advice to Israel - Hugh Fitzgerald

by Hugh Fitzgerald

How the Biden administration has perpetuated our anti-Israel folly.

For a long time American officials have advised — and often pressured — Israel to make concessions of various kinds to the Arabs. And, upon reflection, some have regretted their advice, or their wrongheaded comments about Israel’s ongoing campaign of self-defense against terror groups, but that hasn’t stopped the flow of advice and comments from Washington. Here is more about officials who have admitted to making “mistaken” comments to, and advice for, Jerusalem: “Ex-State Department Officials Admit They Were Wrong,” by Stephen M. Flatow, JNS.org, August 1, 2023:

…Recall, for example, the infamous episode of Dennis Ross and the terror tunnels.

As a senior aide to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2009, Ross pressured Israel to let Hamas bring concrete into Gaza. Here’s how Ross recalled it: “I argued with Israeli leaders and security officials, telling them they needed to allow more construction materials, including cement, into Gaza so that housing, schools and basic infrastructure could be built. They countered that Hamas would misuse it, and they were right.” That admission came six years too late.

The Israelis, under American pressure that originated with Dennis Ross, had reluctantly agreed to allow much more cement into Gaza where the Israeli fears about the misuse of that building material for military purposes — that Ross had pooh-poohed — proved right. The cement — 600,000 tons of it — was used by Hamas not to build houses and schools, as Ross had said they would, but instead, to construct a vast underground network of tunnels and bunkers, used both to hide weapons and fighters, and to allow them to move undetected throughout the Strip.

Thanks to Ross’s pressure, Hamas built “a labyrinth of underground tunnels, bunkers, command posts and shelters for its leaders, fighters and rockets,” as Ross acknowledged. They built the tunnels with “an estimated 600,000 tons of cement,” some of which was “diverted from construction materials allowed into Gaza” (The Washington Post, Aug. 8, 2014).

600,000 tons of cement were diverted for military purposes by Hamas — that represents quite a whopping error by the egregious Dennis Ross, who was so idiotically certain that cement sent to Gaza would be put only to civilian use.

He also belatedly admitted that he and his colleagues in the Obama administration were wrong to abandon the anti-government protesters in Iran in 2009. It was a chance to undermine and perhaps even topple the most evil regime on earth—and Ross blew it. Writing in the journal Foreign Policy on Jan. 2, 2018, Ross confessed:

“In June 2009, I was serving in President Barack Obama’s administration as the secretary of state’s special advisor on Iran and was part of the decision-making process. Because we feared playing into the hands of the regime and lending credence to its claim that the demonstrations were being instigated from the outside, we adopted a low-key posture. In retrospect, that was a mistake. We should have shined a spotlight on what the regime was doing and mobilized our allies to do the same.”

The 2009 protests nationwide in Iran were the largest since the Iranian Revolution in 1978. The regime’s fate was in the balance. A sign of American and other Western support, for example by raising the matter of the Iranian regime’s murderous suppression of the protesters to the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council, would have helped to encourage the protesters, might have strengthened their spirits and demoralized elements of the regime, and possibly helped to topple the Islamic Republic at its moment of maximum peril. Instead, there were no words of support from Washington officials, no encouragement on Voice of America’s Farsi channel, no emergency meeting of the General Assembly called to discuss Iran, and no promises of assistance of any kind were made to the protesters. The Tehran regime went about its business of suppressing the protests with extreme violence. The American reluctance to get involved, Ross now admits, was a grievous error. The Iranian regime was going to blame the Americans in any case for being behind the demonstrations, so Washington had little to lose, and much to gain, by actually helping the protesters.

And don’t forget the case of Aaron Miller and the U.S. Holocaust Museum.

In an op-ed in 2010 in The Washington Post, Miller revealed that he was the U.S. State Department official who came up with the plan to have Yasser Arafat visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1998 in order to help Arafat improve his public image.

In the article, Miller acknowledged that his plan would have meant “appropriating the memory” of the Holocaust for narrow political purposes, and therefore was “one of the dumbest ideas in the annals of U.S. foreign policy” (The Washington Post, Aug. 18, 2010)….

Miller’s “bright idea” was to help Arafat burnish his image by having him visit the Holocaust Memorial Museum, so as to assure Jews, and pro-Israel politicians, of his understanding and sympathy. Of course had Arafat taken Miller’s advice, he would have been hailed by the New York Times and the Washington Post for this “generous gesture.” His lifetime of antisemitic pronouncements would be forgotten in this Potemkin visit. Fortunately Aaron Miller’s public relations effort for the world’s then-leading antisemite, a worthy heir of Hajj Amin el Husseini, came to naught. Miller, of course, from his new base at a Washington think-tank, continues to offer his bright ideas for Israeli territorial concessions that, were Jerusalem to follow them, would seriously weaken the Jewish state.

Remember the First, Second, and Third Rogers plans? The Kissinger Plan? The Baker Plan? So many disastrous American plans to force Israeli concessions which Israel, fortunately, has consistently rejected.

Now the Bidenites are continuing with the same anti-Israel folly. In order to win Saudi agreement to join the Abraham Accords, the Americans may be willing to provide the Kingdom with what it most wants: first, an ironclad defense pact; second, American help in establishing a civilian nuclear program in the Kingdom; third, an American willingness to provide the Saudi military with access to advanced American weapons. Those three concessions ought to be more than enough to get the Saudis to agree to join the Accords, but the Bidenites want to sweeten the pot still more for the Crown Prince, by obtaining from Israel a commitment not to annex any part of the West Bank, and to stop all building of new, or enlarging of existing, settlements. These are concessions that no Israeli government, especially the present one, is prepared to make.

Washington officials and American diplomats should stop trying to interfere with what the Israeli government feels it must do in order to defend the people of Israel, stop scolding Israel for its attempts to punish terrorists in their lairs, and instead of minimizing the ever-increasing terrorist threat, the administration should publicly recognize that there were 5000 terror attacks — almost all of them failed — on Israelis in 2022. Washington officials should stop ignoring the Mandate for Palestine’s provisions that give the Jews the right to build their Jewish state on “state and waste lands,” as well as on land abandoned by, or bought from, Arab owners, in all the territory “from the river to the sea.” And the Bidenites should stop interjecting themselves into Israeli domestic policy quarrels, as with the judicial reform that Biden has Insisted on denouncing, pontificating on a matter that is none of his business.

That’s what I’d call a good start. I hope you agree.

Who Will Say No More to the Current Madness? - Victor Davis Hanson

by Victor Davis Hanson

We need an American Leo Amery to stand up

Britain slept in the 1930s as an inevitable war with Hitler loomed.

A lonely Winston Churchill had only a few courageous partners to oppose the appeasement and incompetence of his conservative colleague Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.

One of the most stalwart truth-tellers was a now little remembered politico and public servant Leo Amery, a polymath and conservative member of Parliament.

Yet in two iconic moments of outrage against the Chamberlain government’s temporizing, Amery galvanized Britain and helped end the government’s disastrous policies.

In the hours after Hitler invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, there was real doubt whether Chamberlain would honor its treaty and declare war on Germany.

A Labour Party member, surrogate Arthur Greenwood, got up in the House of Commons to announce that he would be speaking for Labour on behalf of his ill party leader Clement Attlee.

Immediately Amery interrupted, shouting out, “Speak for England, Arthur!”

He was met with overwhelming applause and soon public acclamation.

After all, Amery was a political voice in the wilderness warning that neither his own party nor opposition Labour was speaking or acting for the real interest of the British people.

Amery, a shocked Greenwood, and others had finally had enough of the partisan nonsense, and demanded the nation unite against Nazi Germany.

Britain hours later declared war on Germany, the first major power to do so.

On a second iconic occasion on May 7, 1940, Amery voiced even stronger views—again, widely held by the public, but rarely voiced by the timid political class.

The inept Chamberlain government had just lost a winnable Norway campaign to Germany.

Amery responded with a blistering attack on the incompetence of the conservative Chamberlain administration by quoting Oliver Cromwell’s hallmark 1653 order to the Long Parliament:

“You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go.”

Three days later after Amery’s speech and the invasion of France, an ill Chamberlain and most of his advisors resigned. Churchill became Prime Minister. The rest is history.

We need a voice like Amery’s. Like Britain from 1939 to 1940, America is in existential danger.

The Biden administration has utterly destroyed the southern border—and immigration law with it.

Biden green lighted 7 million illegal aliens swarming into the U.S. without legal sanction or rudimentary audit.

China spies inside and over the U.S. with impunity. Beijing has never admitted to its responsibility for the gain-of-function Covid virus that killed a million Americans.

President Biden printed $4 trillion at exactly the wrong time of soaring post-COVID consumer demand and supply shortages. No wonder he birthed the worst inflation in 40 years.

In response, interest rates tripled, gas prices doubled.

Our military is thousands of recruits short. It lacks sufficient munitions.

Following Biden’s humiliating pullout from Afghanistan, vast troves of arms were abandoned in Kabul. Billions more in scarce weapons were sent to Ukraine.

The Pentagon’s woke agenda trumps meritocracy in promotions and advancement.

Our enemies—Russia, China, Iran, North Korea—are on the move, while the U.S. seems listless.

The Biden renegade Department of Justice, CIA and FBI have become weaponized. Ideology, politics, and race—not the law—more often guide their investigations, intelligence operations and enforcement.

The downtowns of our once majestic major cities are becoming unlivable.

They are mired in refuse and trash, violent crime and homelessness. Stores and businesses leave. Millions each year flee the blue urban coasts to the red west and south.

To even say there are still two biological genders, that global warming may not be entirely manmade or necessarily destroying the planet, or that class, not race, is the proper barometer of inequality is to face ostracism and career cancellation.

The public assumes that President Biden is severely cognitively challenged, likely corrupt, and a serial fabricator.

Most know what must be done, but few will tell the truth: Balance the budget. Return to legal only immigration. Restore a well-funded, but unwoke Pentagon.

Insist on racial unity. Curb the overweening administrative state. Enforce the rule of law.

Produce more gas and oil. Reestablish civic education. Insist universities protect free speech and due process—and stop proselytizing.

In other words, restore what until recently made America the strongest, most prosperous, and freest nation in the world. And quit undoing all the great good that eight generations of prior Americans bequeathed to us.

Somewhere out there an American Leo Amery is growing infuriated over what is being done to America.

And if he finally stands up like Amery to call out our bankrupt political class, the American people will echo his famous order to this disastrous government:

Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go.”
