In a TV interview, Saudi cleric Sheikh Fawzan Al-Fawzan said that Saudi Arabia had weapons "which can erase Tehran in a matter of seconds if it dares to [attack] us." Al-Fawzan was responding to Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei's threats of a "harsh" response following the stampede in Mina, Saudi Arabia, which claimed the lives of over a thousand Hajj pilgrims. The interview aired on the Kuwaiti Al-Resalah TV channel and was posted on the Internet on October 2, 2015.
Following are excerpts:
Fawzan Al-Fawzan: "That evil
criminal Khamenei, the worst enemy of Islam and the Muslims, has threatened
Saudi Arabia. 'May Allah destroy him.' In the words of the Prophet: 'Be off.
You cannot get further than your rank.' I liked very much that thunderous
response I read today by Emir Muhammad bin Nayef, a lion son of a lion, who
said: 'If Iran dares to shoot even a single bullet at Saudi Arabia, people will
say that there used to be a city named Tehran.' That statement really please
everybody. I read it today, two or three hours ago. Allah be praised some three
years ago, I was in a meeting with one of the highest ranking emirs.

"We discussed the danger of these [Iranian]
and how they have revealed their hostility. They are even trying to produce a
nuclear bomb, and I think that if it manages to do so, Iran will be the first
country in the modern age to attack Muslim countries with nuclear bombs. This
is not beyond them. He said to us: 'Rest assured. [The Quran says]: If Allah
had not repelled some men by others, the earth would have been corrupted.' He said:
'I can reassure you that we have weapons, which can erase Tehran in a matter of
seconds if it dares to [attack] us.' In a matter of seconds. Not even a minute.
A matter of seconds.
"I swear that Tehran knows that. If it did
not know the strength of the Muslims, their willingness to make sacrifices, all
the support that they receive from Allah, and all their military capabilities –
it would have invaded Saudi Arabia many years ago. They would have started with
Saudi Arabia – before Iraq, Syria, and the rest. But they know with whom they
are dealing."
