Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt over the weekend slammed Hezbollah top terrorist Hassan Nasrallah for his support of Iran's assistance to Houthi rebels who have overthrown the government of Yemen. “Iran is trying to reestablish its ancient Persian empire, and it is destroying countries as it does so,” said Jumblatt.
Nasrallah over the weekend attacked Saudi Arabia for its opposition to rebel activity in Yemen, and its bombing of rebel forces. Nasrallah, who receives most of the budget for the Hezbollah terror group from Iran, supports Tehran fully for giving aid and comfort – and possibly more – to the Houthi rebels who have taken most of the country over.
Jumblatt jumped to Saudi Arabia's defense. “It is Saudi Arabia's full right to fight against the Iranian takeover of Yemen,” he said. “Yemen's defense has always been connected to Saudi Arabia's. Iran is trying to recreate the Persian Empire, and that is the reason for all its warring in the region.”
In the past, Saudi Arabia helped Lebanon a great deal, said Jumblatt – which makes Nasrallah “an ingrate. When Israel destroyed Lebanon in the 2006 war Saudi Arabia was the first to rally to its assistance. Where is Nasrallah planning to bring Lebanon? How does he ignore the half million Lebanese Saudi Arabia has welcomed into its lands?”
