New San Francisco DA Cleans House - Lloyd Billingsley

Fires 16 members of pro-crime predecessor's staff.

“Newly appointed San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins,” the California Globe reports, “fired 16 people in the DA’s office on Friday, continuing her large shifts away from the previous administration of ousted DA Chesa Boudin.”

Named after fugitive cop-killer Joanne Chesimard, Boudin is the offspring of Weather Underground terrorists. When elected in 2019, Boudin proclaimed “The people of San Francisco have sent a powerful and clear message It’s time for radical change to how we envision justice. I’m humbled to be a part of this movement that is unwavering in its demand for transformation.”

Boudin transformed a city already plagued with crime and filth into dangerous conditions that San Franciscans found intolerable. Led by independent Richie Greenberg, San Franciscans booted Boudin by a 60-40 margin. Boudin claimed “the right-wing billionaires outspent us three to one,” but it was the people who tossed him. Questions lingered about his replacement.

San Francisco mayor London Breed picked former assistant DA Brooke Jenkins, 40, a University of Chicago law alum San Francisco hired as a prosecutor in the homicide division. She resigned last year and became an outspoken critic of Boudin who “is failing to prioritize public safety.” Even so, the people wondered how Jenkins (pictured above) would approach the task.

In short order she reversed Boudin policies and cracked down on illegal drug dealing. On Friday, she fired 16 members of the DA’s office, most of them appointed by Boudin or loyal to him.

“Today, I made difficult, but important changes to my management team and staff that will help advance my vision to restore a sense of safety in San Francisco by holding serious and repeat offenders accountable and implementing smart criminal justice reforms,” Jenkins said in a statement. The ousted Boudin cadres didn’t like it.

“After over 2 years of tireless and devoted service to the City and City of SF, I was unceremoniously fired without cause via phone by the Mayor’s appointed DA,” tweeted Arcelia Hurtado on Friday.“I am the highest ranking Latina/LGBTQ member of the management team at that office, the representative on the city’s “Innocence Commission.”

Jenkins also canned Boudin’s chief of staff Kate Chatfield, and his communications director and policy advisor Rachel Marshall, who proclaimed. “I joined Chesa Boudin’s leadership team to fight for criminal justice reform; that battle has never been more urgent.”

The ousted Dylan Yep, formerly in the data department, denounced the “racist carceral and data-free policy plans,” of Jenkins, a black woman. None of those fired presented any data on rising crime in the city, or any second thoughts about Chesa Boudin, whose mother, Kathy Boudin, died in May.

Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert took part in a robbery in Nyack, New York, that claimed the lives of police officers Waverly Brown and Edward O’Grady along with security guard Peter Paige. With his parents imprisoned, Chesa Boudin was raised by Weather Underground stalwarts Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorhn, who gained fame for the celebration of the Manson murders.

The charge that Chesa Boudin is “soft on crime” is not even close. For progressives, criminals are the victims of an unjust capitalist society. As George Orwell explained in Animal Farm, rats are comrades in the revolutionary struggle. So in office Chesa gave the criminals every possible break, while showing utter contempt for their victims, the people of San Francisco. They appear to have learned valuable lessons.

Terrorist lineage, leftist views, and pro-criminal bias are not qualifications for the position of district attorney. Being a “Latina and Latina/LGBTQ member” is not an accomplishment, not a job qualification, and not a substitute for a proven record of maintaining public safety and the rule of law. That’s what the district attorney’s office is supposed to do, and that’s what the people want.

With programs such as “motor voter,” which automatically registers illegals to vote when they get a driver’s license, California is a national leader in voter fraud. The landslide recall of Boudin confirms that every election can’t be stolen. The people have spoken, loud and clear.

Brooke Jenkins must now transform San Francisco into a place where officials put the interest of the people above the welfare of violent criminals. Such criminals have another friend in Los Angeles under district attorney George Gascón, who preceded Boudin in San Francisco.

Violent crime has been surging, but as  Fox News reports, Gascón “is disbanding a group of victim advocates and prosecutors in the DA’s office who notify victims and their family members about their assailant’s parole hearings.” Gascón took this blatantly anti-victim move after the recall of the Boudin, and after residents gathered enough signatures to get the pro-criminal DA recalled. Election officials will make the announcement on August 17.

“Yes, I will be running for election in November,” Brooke Jenkins recently proclaimed.  “And so we’ll see who else enters that race.” It could be the man she replaced.

“A lot of my supporters and endorsements and donors and Democratic clubs that were behind me are urging me to run now, or in 2023," Chesa Boudin told reporters. “I’m committed, as I always have been my entire life, to doing the work to support our communities, to fight for a fairer system of justice.” As Trump likes to say, we’ll have to see what happens.

On the national scene, meanwhile, many more politicians and bureaucrats will have to be told “you’re fired” if the rights, liberties and safety of the people are to be preserved.
