Trump says he expects to be arrested Tuesday, urges nation to protest - John Solomon

 by John Solomon

Trump denies wrongdoing but has promised to surrender to authorities if indicted so he can contest the charges.

Former President Donald Trump said Saturday he expects to be arrested Tuesday by New York prosecutors in a case over hush money to a porn star and called for Americans to protest and "take back our nation."

Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social platform, slamming Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in a post that used all capital letters for trying to indict a former president rather than focus on rising crime in America's largest city.

"Now illegal leaks from a corrupt & highly political Manhattan district attorneys office, which has allowed new records to be set in violent crime & whose leader is funded by George Soros, indicate that, with no crime being able to be proven, & based on an old & fully debunked (by numerous other prosecutors!) fairytale, the far & away leading Republican candidate & former president of the United States of America, will be arrested on Tuesday of next week," Trump wrote.

"Protest, take our nation back!" he added.

If Trump's prediction is correct, the nation is headed to a moment never before experienced, not even under Richard Nixon or Andrew Johnson. No former president has ever been prosecuted in American history.

Political experts have predicted a Trump indictment would galvanize an already bitter divide in America between liberals who see Trump unfit to lead and conservatives who see the 75-year-old former president as a successful leader who has been unfairly tarred by "banana Republic" smear tactics from Democrats and ideological bureaucrats in the law enforcement and intelligence world.

Law enforcement officials began quietly making security arrangements for an indictment later this week.

Danielle Filson, a spokeswoman for the district attorney, told The Associated Press that Bragg's office "will decline to confirm or comment" on questions pertaining to Trump's post.

Trump has said he will continue to run for president in 2024 even if he is charged and has steadfastly denied any wrongdoing, calling the probe a "witch hunt" by a Democrat prosecutor.

A grand jury in Manhattan has been soliciting testimony from witnesses, including disgraced former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who alleges he arranged payments in 2016 to two women to silence them about sexual encounters they claimed to have had with Trump a decade earlier.

Cohen who has pleaded guilty to crimes, served prison time and was disbarred  alleges he arranged payments totaling $280,000 to porn actor Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal. Cohen claims the payments were hush money to buy the women's silence as Trump made his first run for office in 2016.

Legal experts like Harvard law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz have raised concerns about the legal merits of the case. Prosecutors would also face questions about a case built upon the testimonies of a porn star, and the work of two disgraced lawyers. In addition to Cohen, Daniels' former lawyer, Michael Avenatti, also has been convicted of crimes.

One of the challenges for prosecutors is that Cohen, who has admitted in federal court to false statements to Congress, played a central role in the payments.

Joe Tacopina, Trump's lawyers in the case, signaled a likely defense strategy in a TV interview last week, suggesting that Daniels demanded "extortion" money from Trump and that Cohen advised the strategy to use.

Cohen is a "fraud, a liar" and "was his lawyer at the time and advised him that this was the proper way to do this to protect himself and his family from embarrassment. It is simple as that," Tacopina told MSNBC recently.

In new record, Biden requests billions to advance gender agenda worldwide - The Center Square Staff

 by The Center Square Staff

While Biden says he is cutting $3 trillion from the deficit over the next decade, his budget plan would increase the funding to promote “Gender Equity and Equality Around the World.”

President Joe Biden’s 2024 budget proposal requests billions of dollars to advance his gender and sexuality agenda around the world, allocating far more taxpayer dollars to that than dozens of other spending priorities, such as stopping fentanyl from being smuggled across the southern border.

Biden’s budget request for this issue in particular has more than doubled in the last two years. In the past, that focus would have been almost entirely on women and young girls. In recent years, though, advancing women's rights across the globe is sharing the focus, and the funds, with the president's gender agenda.

While Biden says he is cutting $3 trillion from the deficit over the next decade, his budget plan would increase the funding to promote “Gender Equity and Equality Around the World.”

From the budget:

The Administration remains steadfast in its commitment to invest in opportunities for women and girls and support the needs of marginalized communities, including the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex community. Reflective of that commitment, the Budget requests more than $3 billion to advance gender equity and equality across a broad range of sectors.

Last year, the U.S. Agency for International Development touted Biden’s budget request of $2.6 billion to promote “Gender Equity and Equality Around the World,” saying it was “more than doubling the amount requested for gender programs in the prior year,” calling it the “largest-ever gender budget request.”

That funding will fuel the USAID and the State Department to pay particular attention to “those who face multiple forms of discrimination, such as adolescent girls and young women, Indigenous women, women and girls in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI+) community, women with disabilities, and racial, ethnic, and religious minorities.”

Biden’s request for advancing this kind of equity this year increased from the previous doubling by another $400 million, a new record.

Federal spending, in particular debt spending, is under increased scrutiny as inflation remains elevated.

“At a time of dangerous deficits and painful inflation caused by too much federal spending, the Biden administration is constantly seeking ways to waste even more taxpayer resources on ideological crusades," David Ditch, a budget expert at the Heritage Foundation, told The Center Square. "The obsession with 'equity' permeates the entire Biden agenda, often at the expense of core federal duties and functions. Biden is regularly touted as a ‘moderate’ by the press, but he has been comfortable allowing radical activists in his administration to control the agenda and regularly flout the rule of law.”

Biden took fire after the budget’s release for mentioning “equity” 62 times while other major issues received less attention. “Inflation” is mentioned 56 times, though that number is far less if you omit references to the Inflation Reduction Act, which has nothing to do with higher prices. “Border” is mentioned 33 times. “Poverty” is mentioned 21 times. “Ukraine” is mentioned 13 times. “Opioid” is mentioned four times and “fentanyl” is mentioned twice.

For comparison, the budget proposal includes $25 billion for U.S. Customs and Border Patrol but specifies that only $40 million of that is to “combat fentanyl trafficking and disrupt transnational criminal organizations.” According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, more than 100,000 Americans died of drug overdose in 2021.

Opioid spending gets a fraction of the attention that equity receives in the budget.

The proposed budget seeks to spend “$715 million toward opioid use disorder prevention and treatment programs such as VA’s Stratification Tool for Opioid Risk Mitigation, the VA Opioid Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution program, and programs authorized in the Jason Simcakoski PROMISE Act.”

While the opioid issue may receive federal aid directly or indirectly from other established health and drug grants and programs, the gender issue would also benefit from the same kind of additional help.

A litany of domestic crime issues also receives less funding than the $3 billion overseas investment.

From the budget:

The Budget makes robust investments to bolster Federal law enforcement capacity. The Budget includes $17.8 billion, an increase of $1.2 billion above the 2023 enacted level, for DOJ law enforcement, including a total of nearly $2 billion for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives to expand multijurisdictional gun trafficking strike forces with additional personnel, increase regulation of the firearms industry, and implement the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. The Budget includes $1.9 billion for the U.S. Marshals Service to support personnel dedicated to fighting violent crime, including through fugitive apprehension and enforcement operations. The Budget also provides $51 million to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to support the continued implementation of enhanced background checks required by the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. In addition, the Budget provides a total of $2.9 billion for the U.S. Attorneys, which includes 130 new positions to support the prosecution of violent crimes.

Certain overseas grant funding opportunities from the federal government prioritize LGBT issues. The State Department’s “Global Equality Fund” is a public-private partnership that funnels federal dollars overseas to “provides critical resources to civil society organizations (CSOs) and human rights defenders, including those working to increase the visibility and empowerment of queer women, transgender and other gender diverse people, intersex people, and members of other marginalized LGBTQI+ communities…”

The White House is Whistling Past America's Bank Graveyard - Lawrence Kadish

 by Lawrence Kadish

Another lit fuse in this crisis is a White House that has allowed crypto currency to be considered a genuine part of our economy. It is not. It is little more than a digital set of zeroes and ones with illusionary value, dictated hourly by an online marketplace.

Once I built a railroad, I made it run
Made it race against time
Once I built a railroad, now it's done
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Once I built a tower up to the sun
Brick and rivet and lime
Once I built a tower, now it's done
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Written by E. Y. Harburg and Jay Gorney during the height of 1930s, the song became America's grim national anthem during The Great Depression.

As we watch the instability of our banking system unfold, those 90 year old lyrics may be more relevant than we wish to acknowledge.

Part of today's banking crisis was instigated by the Federal Reserve whose micro-management of interest rates created a balance sheet gap for some regional banks, institutions that have played a crucial role in powering our economy by working with small and middle size businesses.

Another lit fuse in this crisis is a White House that has allowed crypto currency to be considered a genuine part of our economy. It is not. It is little more than a digital set of zeroes and ones with illusionary value, dictated hourly by an online marketplace. Then there is Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellin, who is currently engaging in a national theatrical performance seeking to convince Americans the banking system is secure. Her performance on and off stage leaves much to be desired.

There will now be calls for additional regulations and oversight of the banks as if that will change the outcome. The fact is Signature Bank's issues were already well known to regulators, but it was New York Governor Kathy Hochul who decided it would be best for her PR if she moved to close the bank.

Say what you will about former President Bill Clinton, he never lost sight of the fact that "it's the economy stupid..." Far more important than a political strategy, history reminds us it is the economy upon which great nations rise or fall. It is a lesson that is either unknown or unheeded by the current occupant of the Oval Office. One wonders if he can carry the tune to "Brother can you spare a dime?"

Homeland Republicans to turn up the heat on Mayorkas after Border Patrol chief’s ‘earth-shattering’ testimony - Adam Shaw

 by Adam Shaw

Ortiz had testified in McAllen, Texas, at committee field hearing

Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee are looking to turn up the heat on DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in the wake of bombshell testimony from Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz that the chairman of the committee described as "earth-shattering."

Ortiz had been the main witness at the committee’s field hearing in McAllen, Texas, on Wednesday and had bucked the administration on a number of issues. Ortiz told lawmakers that he disagreed with President Biden’s call to stop wall construction, said there were policies in place that were holding agents back from doing their job, and backed agents who had falsely been accused of whipping Haitian migrants.

But the takeaway from lawmakers was Ortiz’s statement that the U.S. does not have operational control of the border – a statement that contradicted what Mayorkas told lawmakers last year – and that multiple sectors were overwhelmed by the historic migrant flows being encountered.

"In five of those nine southwest border sectors, we have seen an increase in flow and that has caused a considerable strain on our resources and really has forced the Border Patrol to move so agents and even migrants to some of the other areas," he said in response to a question about whether the border is secure.

BORDER PATROL CHIEF SAYS DHS DOESN'T HAVE OPERATIONAL CONTROL OF US BORDER

In an interview with Fox News Digital on Thursday, Chairman Mark Green described those takeaways as "huge statements."

"I knew that he was the kind of guy who would shoot straight and be honest. And we prepared, so we did our homework, and we were prepared. I think you put the two together, and you got what we got, which is some pretty earth-shattering stuff," he said.

With the border crisis still ongoing and with the end to Title 42 expulsions less than two months away, Green told Fox that his committee is eyeing additional testimony after Wednesday's hearing. Mayorkas is likely to be one of those the committee wants to provide testimony. Green said the committee will have "tons of questions" for the DHS chief.

"I think we want to talk to all the sector chiefs, but certainly the five that are struggling with the overflow right now and get their perspectives," he said. "And then at some point, Secretary Mayorkas is going to have to come and answer the question – did he lie to Congress, or is he just ignorant about the definition in the code on what defines operational security?"

Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas, who also questioned Ortiz at the hearing, praised the Chief for how he handled what Republicans acknowledged was a difficult situation for the official.

"Chief Ortiz is to be commended for walking a fine line, as one of my other colleagues said, of being respectful of the political hierarchy, but also telling the truth and saying enough is enough," he said.

"It was about time," he said. "I'm grateful that somebody had the courage to tell the truth about that."

Pfluger similarly believed that one of the next steps was to hear from Mayorkas.

WHITE HOUSE ACCUSES HOUSE REPUBLICANS OF PLAYING ‘PARTISAN GAMES’ WITH TEXAS BORDER FIELD HEARING'

"I think that we should move quickly, with a sense of urgency to have Secretary Mayorkas testify in front of Congress," he said. "We have heard from the lead officer in charge of the security of our border that it's not secure. And now the same question needs to be posed to Secretary Mayorkas. Will he disagree with the lead officer in charge of border security?"

The Biden administration has been pushing back against the narrative from Republicans that seeks to blame the administration’s policies for the crisis. DHS said in a statement Wednesday that the hearing "highlights the vital work the Department of Homeland Security does every day to enforce our laws, secure our border, and combat cartels and smugglers" and pointed to testimony from Ortiz and other witnesses that showed "new programs, technology, and investments are making a real impact."

The administration has pointed to recent drops in numbers through January and February as signs that recent border measures – including expanded Title 42 expulsions and a humanitarian parole program that allows 30,000 migrants from four countries to fly in each month – are working.

MIGRANT ENCOUNTERS IN FEBRUARY DOWN TO LOWEST LEVEL SINCE JAN 2022; BIDEN ADMIN CREDITS NEW BORDER MEASURES

"Despite inheriting a dismantled immigration system and facing unprecedented migration that is affecting nations throughout the Western Hemisphere, this administration has surged resources to the border, reducing the number of encounters between ports of entry, disrupting more smuggling operations than ever before, and interdicting more drugs in the last two years than had been stopped in the five years prior," a spokesperson said.

"The Department welcomes input from Congress, and looks forward to working with members on legislative solutions for our broken immigration system, which Congress has not reformed for more than 40 years."

Pfluger said he wants Mayorkas to tell Congress how the administration intends to expand on the policies it believes have led to a recent drop in border numbers.

"We need Secretary Mayorkas in front of the committee explaining the drop-off in January, the policies that changed in January and what he's going to do to further help that situation," he said, arguing that an increase in consequences for illegal entry is what will make the difference.

"I think one of the main things if you really listened to the testimony yesterday, the consequence of having repatriation flights, of having deportation, the political will to actually deport people and, at least for a portion of the migrants that are coming here illegally, stop the catch and release policy that Biden has used seem to have had an effect," he said.

The White House had taken aim at Republican lawmakers ahead of the hearing, renewing its arguments that Republicans have failed to back various border funding requests and come to the table on immigration reform.

"The repeated efforts by House Republicans to threaten or vote against border funding reveal they are more interested in using this issue to lob debunked political attacks than actually working with the President on bipartisan solutions to strengthen our immigration system and border security," White House spokesman Ian Sams said ahead of the hearing.

Green rejected those claims, arguing that in multiple instances the funding was a small part of significantly larger spending packages and that the funding largely went toward processing and transportation of migrants rather than actual security.

He said in at least one instance the spending request "was a part of this huge package that was going to further bankrupt the country" and exacerbate already high inflation.

"It's insane that they would suggest that us not voting for that bill says we don't want to support border security," he said.

As for immigration reform, he said that border security must be tackled first.

"If you fix immigration and don't fix security at the border…then you get even more people coming to the United States. And we're already at 6 or 7 million people under this president's first two years. It's going to be even double that for his next two. At some point, you can only get so many guests inside your house. You can invite all the people you want but at some point, you can't put another person in the house, and we're getting there."

Green said he is open to immigration fixes "because we do have to have workers, we do have to have a process legally" but he also questioned whether reformed laws would even be followed by those in the country illegally.

"What’s to say that we would pass something legally, and they'd actually live by it, because the laws that were passed before they’re not even living by. They're violating the law. So, okay, I go and I fix immigration – what's to say they're going to actually adhere to it? They're not now."

Republicans have said they intend to introduce and pass legislation that they believe would help fix the crisis at the border, and Green said with Title 42’s expiration looming on May 11, there is a sense of urgency.

"We're going to be deluged. We're already deluged. But we get Title 42 gone and the floodgates open. So we have to get this fixed and hopefully what we pass in the House will be passed in the Senate and go to the president," he said. "But if not, then we'll start doing, you know, small pieces to get something done. But it's ridiculous to think that Title 42 going away isn't going to result in a massive, just massive increase."

Investigators release details on bank record trail leading from China to Biden family - Charlotte Hazard

 by Charlotte Hazard

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer details how $3 million payment from Chinese company came into U,.S., got broken up and $1.3 million landed in Biden family accounts.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky) on Thursday released a summary of the first bank records showing how a $3 million payment from a Chinese company came into the United States, was broken up and eventually infused $1.3 million into the accounts of President Joe Biden's family members.

"Pursuant to a subpoena, the Committee recently obtained financial records related to Mr. John Robinson Walker, a Biden family associate, and his company Robinson Walker, LLC," Comer's committee reported in a new memo summarizing its investigative findings.

"Prior to issuing the subpoena, the Committee received information that Mr. Walker used his company to transfer money to Biden family members. The bank records proved that information correct," the report said.
The committee said it traced a $3 million payment that was sent from a Chinese company to Walker in March 2017 -- just two months after Joe Biden stepped down as vice president -- and then money totaling $1.3 million was distributed to accounts tied to Hallie Biden, the widow of the late presidential son Beau Biden, presidential brother James Biden and presidential son Hunter Biden.

A fourth account listed only as "Biden" also received money, the committee said. It is trying to determine which family member it belongs to, Comer said.

You can read the full report here.

"The Committee is concerned about the national security implications of a President’s or Vice President’s immediate family members receiving millions of dollars from foreign nationals or companies without any oversight. Current financial disclosure laws and regulations do not require non-dependent family members to provide any information to the public," the report said.

Since Comer became chairman of the House Oversight Committee, he has made investigating President Joe Biden's overseas business dealings a top priority, telling Just the News on Wednesday that he now has some evidence Joe Biden benefited from some of the foreign monies routed to his family.

"One thing that we've learned is there are a lot of different bank accounts that they were funneling money from China to the Bidens," Comer told the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show Wednesday. "That in itself shows some type of suspicious activity because most people that have a credible business or an investment firm have one account or two accounts. But there are over a dozen accounts."

As COVID origin secrets near declassification, Wuhan lab's ties to China military burst into focus - John Solomon

 by John Solomon

Evidence suggest U.S. has known since 2017 about ties between Wuhan lab and Beijing's bioweapons program, yet federal agencies still funded research there.

As President Joe Biden weighs whether to sign a law passed unanimously by Congress to declassify U.S. intelligence on the origins of the COVID-19 virus, new evidence has emerged that the State Department and National Institutes of Health routed at least $1.7 million in tax dollars to a Wuhan virology lab despite evidence it was tied to the Chinese military — and possibly the communist nation's bioweapons program — according to government documents reviewed by Just the News.

The United States first declared in a 2005 State Department document that communist China maintained an offensive biological weapons program in violation of its treaty commitments and that it was run in part by an arm of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Academy of Military Medical Sciences (AMMS). That report specifically cited the AMMS' Fifth Institute as the epicenter of the country's bioweapons program.

You can read that document here:

A decade later, multiple medical publications emerged from China that linked the AMMS to research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the very lab that the FBI, the Energy Department and other U.S. intelligence agencies believe was the source of a leak that started the COVID-19 pandemic in late 2019.

It's also the same lab that received grants from a contractor working for Dr. Anthony Fauci's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the U.S. Agency for International Development, the foreign aid arm of the Stpostedate Department.

The ties between AMMS and the Wuhan lab sat in plain view for years before the pandemic started, federal documents show.

For instance, a 2015 study posted on the NIH's National Library of Medicine site shows collaboration between the Wuhan lab and AAMS on anthrax spores. Several other studies between 2015 and 2019 also listed both Chinese science organizations as collaborators.

One of the most troubling links — cited in an unclassified report released in December by the House Intelligence Committee — was a 2015 book in which China scientists tied to both AMMS and the Wuhan lab declared that coronaviruses were the leading edge of a new era of genetic weapons warfare.

"In 2015, the official publishing house of the AMMS released a book titled The Unnatural Origin of SARS and New Species of Artificial Humanized Viruses as Genetic Weapons," the committee reported. "The book was produced and edited using 18 experts, 16 of whom were officers at AMMS or other PLA research centers. Indeed, one of the editors not only works for the Fifth Institute but also has a long history of collaboration with the WIV, having coauthored 12 scientific papers with personnel from it.

"The central premise of the AMMS book is that SARS-CoV-1, the strain of coronavirus that caused the 2002 SARS outbreak, did not emerge naturally but was a chimeric virus artificially engineered as a genetic weapon to infect humans. The book described the PLA researchers' broader belief that other nations are developing chimeric coronaviruses to use as genetic weapons. The authors described how to create weaponized chimeric SARS coronaviruses, the potentially broader scope for their use compared to traditional bioweapons, and the benefits of being able to plausibly deny that such chimeric coronaviruses were artificially created rather than naturally occurring."

You can read the full House Intelligence Committee report here:

While tantalizing, the declassified information about China's military ties to bioweapons research and the Wuhan lab "understates the problem" compared to what is known in secret, said Sen. Roger "Doc" Marshall (R-Kan.), a medical doctor and one of the first members of Congress to dispute claims that COVID-19 could have evolved naturally from the wild.

He said that a lab-created COVID virus may be scary but far less lethal than what an engineered bird flu virus might one day unleash on humanity and there's far too little oversight of how U.S. agencies are funding such research.

"There's gross abuse of our grant research dollars and so much commingling," he told the John Solomon Reports podcast on Thursday. "USAID is doing research on viral gain of function in Wuhan, China. USAID was for international development. They are way outside of their lane.

"But ultimately, what China's goal here is to get the DNA of every person, of every animal, of every plant. And you can just imagine what you could do with that. There's some incredibly good things you can do about it. … But then you could also have a COVID virus, a Frankenstein virus that came from a lab in Wuhan, China, and everything in between. So what we're dealing with here is really something a million times more powerful than a nuclear weapon."

Former Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows told Just the News on Thursday night that the vast open-source intelligence that highlighted the risks of the Wuhan lab and its ties to China's military should have been a red flag for Fauci at NIH and the intelligence community.

Fauci's subsequent effort to downplay the possibility COVID-19 leaked from a lab and instead came from nature had long-ranging consequences, Meadows added, including stifling intelligence community efforts to alert the public on the lab leak theory.

"In the intelligence community we had concerns, most of Americans would have concerns if they knew," Meadows said. "... It is troubling because Dr. Fauci not only knew, but Dr. Fauci should have known about a number of other things. And then all of a sudden he went on kind of a PR tour in defense of this natural contagion that supposedly happened from a market there.

"Listen, we've got two agencies that say right now that they have some degree of confidence that it was a lab leak, as you reported accurately. Myself and President Trump mentioned this long ago that we had seen information that led us to believe that this was not  just a coincidence."

There is clear evidence that the intelligence community, the State Department and NIH knew for years before the pandemic of the ties between a body suspected of Chinese biowarfare research and the Wuhan lab.

For instance, the State Department released a fact sheet on the Wuhan Institute of Virology in 2021 that disclosed that the United States was aware that the lab had been conducting risky research on coronaviruses since 2016 and had been tied to secret Chinese military research for years.

"Despite the WIV presenting itself as a civilian institution, the United States has determined that the WIV has collaborated on publications and secret projects with China's military," the State Department said. "The WIV has engaged in classified research, including laboratory animal experiments, on behalf of the Chinese military since at least 2017."

The House Intelligence Committee disclosed that NIH and its parent HHS also knew of serious risks tied to projects it was funding both through AAMS and the Wuhan lab.

"Based on our investigation, we conclude that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) was aware of serious national security risks associated with AMMS," the report said. "Nevertheless, public reporting has claimed grant money from HHS components flowed to AMMS researchers."

There are several grants from federal agencies that flowed to the Wuhan Institute of Virology that have been confirmed to date.

NIH has admitted it funded the EcoHealth Alliance, which in turn issued subgrants to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for research that NIH belatedly acknowledged had enhanced a bat coronavirus to make mice "sicker."

A recent audit conducted by the HHS inspector general estimated more than $598,000 of the money that NIH gave EcoHealth ultimately was paid to the Wuhan lab. That audit also found the Chinese had refused to provide documentation on how the money was spent.

"EcoHealth requested the information from WIV," the report stated. "However, based on records reviewed, we did not see evidence that EcoHealth obtained the scientific documentation. EcoHealth officials confirmed to us that WIV had not been responsive to its request to provide the scientific documentation and indicated it was unlikely to receive the requested information. As a result, EcoHealth has been unable to comply with NIH's request on this matter."

You can read the full audit here:

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-Pa.) reported that his team uncovered a second pot of money that EcoHealth Alliance routed to the Wuhan lab from USAID. "Between October 2009 and May 2019, USAID provided a total of $1.1 million to the EcoHealth Alliance for a sub-agreement with the WIV," the congressman disclosed last year. "The funding went toward advancing research on viruses that could pose harm to human and animal health."

The House Intelligence Committee now says that the Government Accountabillity Office, the nonpartisan investigative arm of Congress, has uncovered other monies from federal and military agencies that flowed to both the Wuhan lab and other AMMS entities, including the bioweapons-centered Fifth Institute that was first flagged by the State Department in 2005.

A final total and list of federal grants to those entities is expected to be made public in a few weeks.

"At the Committee's request, GAO is conducting a comprehensive accounting of all public funds the United States Government disbursed, whether directly or indirectly, from January 2014 through December of 2021 to AMMS and the WI," the recent House Intel report said.

"In November of 2022, GAO provided Committee staff an update on its work, confirming that grant money from HHS components flowed to the AMMS Fifth Institute via subawards from certain U.S. universities," the report revealed. "The Committee does not know if the scientists who funneled this money to the Fifth Institute, a known component of China's bioweapons program, were among the experts the IC consulted regarding COVID-19's origins."

The extensive ties between China's military and the Wuhan lab are likely to come into sharper focus if Biden signs the declassification law, or if Congress overrides him should he veto the bill. Officials said the classified version of the House Intelligence Committee report is one of the richest catalogs of the ties and should be among the first released to the public.

In the meantime, an essential question has already arisen from the documents reviewed by Just the News: How could multiple federal agencies dispense taxpayer monies to Chinese institutions linked to research and military entities that posed so much national security risk to America?

Former Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf told Just the News on Thursday night that the answer lies in the unchecked power that a large federal "administrative state" now wields, including the power to act without political overseers' blessing.

"A lot of these decisions are done below political leadership in many of these departments, by career bureaucrats who take it upon themselves to make some very difficult and very high-level decisions about sending money to certain places, and the like," Wolf said on the "Just the News, No Noise" television show. "And I think that's something that we need to take a look at."

Security experts also say the U.S. intelligence community shares some blame for not more aggressively policing U.S. funding for dangerous research projects or publicly challenging the narrative that COVID-19 emerged through natural evolution when so much of its evidence conflicted with it.

Former Defense Intelligence Agency officer Rebekah Koffler recently declared that U.S. intelligence has failed to adequately safeguard Americans from China's bioweapons aspirations.

"American spy agencies, when pressed by the House intelligence committee on what they knew about the deadly virus, failed to come clean," she wrote in a recent New York post column. "The agencies concealed from the oversight panels, and therefore the American people, that COVID-19 is consistent with China's biological warfare doctrine and the long-term programs Beijing has invested in to weaponize viruses.

"Most curiously, they withheld key intelligence from the oversight committees regarding the extent of China's much-discussed gain of function research — programs aimed at increasing the transmissibility and virulence of highly dangerous pathogens through genetic manipulation. If they are so sure of their conclusion, why withhold this crucial information."

Evidence from the House Intelligence Committee's full report, if released through declassification, is likely to bolster her argument.

"We conclude that there are indications that SARS-CoV-2 may have been tied to China's biological weapons research program and spilled over to the human population during a lab-related incident at the Wuhan Institute of Virology," it wrote in its unclassified summary."The IC should be transparent," it added, "regarding what it does or does not know regarding the relationship between the PLA's Fifth Institute of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences (AMMS), which China has publicly admitted conducts bioweapons research and coronavirus experiments, and the WIV, particularly during 2019."

Israel’s two-faced allies - Melanie Phillips

 by Melanie Phillips

America and Britain undermine Israel’s security and defense against existential attack by sanitizing, promoting and funding Palestinian Arabs, whose active cause remains the destruction of the Jewish state.

America and Britain claim to be allies of Israel. There is no gainsaying the deep links between them of military assistance, intelligence and trade. Israel is the invaluable strategic asset for America and Britain in the Middle East, a crucial bulwark in the defense of the West.

And yet, both America and Britain undermine Israel’s security and defense against existential attack by sanitizing, promoting and funding Palestinian Arabs, whose active cause remains the destruction of the Jewish state.

A recent event illustrated this particularly sharply when British diplomatic officials in Jerusalem effectively endorsed the Palestinian Authority’s agenda to eradicate Israel.

Palestinian Media Watch has revealed that at last Friday’s annual “Palestine Marathon” held by the P.A., seven British officials taking part as “#TeamUK” wore marathon T-shirts displaying the P.A.’s map that erases Israel and represents the whole country as Palestine.

The Jewish Chroniclereports that the team consisted of the UK’s Deputy Consul General Alison McEwen and Foreign Office colleagues. A picture of the team was tweeted from the official account of the British Consulate in Jerusalem, hailing “the incredible Palestine Marathon to support #FREEDOMOFMOVEMENT for all Palestinians.”

Palestinian Media Watch observes that this hashtag was conceived to support the P.A.’s demand that Israel remove the security measures it has adopted to prevent the flow of Palestinian terrorists from P.A.-controlled areas into Israel’s cities.

According to The Jewish Chronicle, the marathon was organized by a group called “Right to Movement,” which campaigns against “the many obstacles that we live daily under fascist racist occupation.”

The race was held under the auspices of the Palestine Liberation Organization Supreme Council for Youth and Sports headed by Jibril Rajoub, a man who has been convicted of numerous terrorist offenses and who persistently glorifies Palestinian terrorist murderers.

So these British diplomats took part in an event supervised by a terrorist sympathizer; openly supported the Palestinian Arabs’ lie that Israel is subjecting them to “fascist racist occupation”; openly opposed Israel’s measures to protect its citizens against attack; and openly endorsed the eradication of Israel altogether.

The current British government under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak contains an unprecedented number of Israel supporters. So how can its diplomats have displayed such egregious hostility to Israel’s security and even its very existence?

The consular bodies run by both Britain and America in Jerusalem, which provide assistance to the Palestinian Arabs in the east of the city, the disputed territories and in the Gaza Strip, have long been viewed by the Israeli government as working against Israeli interests.

Although former President Donald Trump shut down the U.S. consulate in 2019, the Biden administration effectively restored and upgraded America’s diplomatic mission to the Palestinians when it opened the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs last June and installed Hady Amr as “special representative for Palestinian affairs.”

Amr, who had previously worked as national coordinator of the anti-Israel Middle East Justice Network, had said that he was “inspired by the Palestinian intifada”; that the Arabs “will never, never forget what the Israeli people, the Israeli military and Israeli democracy have done to Palestinian children”; and that “there will be thousands who will seek to avenge these brutal murders of innocents.”

At last month’s summit in Jordan ostensibly aimed at calming the violence between Israel and the Palestinian Arabs, which has produced a rising number of Israeli murder victims and near-daily Arab attacks, Amr promoted an American plan requiring Israel to sharply curtail counter-terror operations by the Israel Defense Forces while providing 5,000 Palestinians with commando training as security personnel.

This was despite the fact that Palestinian Authority security forces have been repeatedly involved in attacks on Israelis—hardly surprising since the P.A. is controlled by the Fatah terrorist group whose chairman is the P.A.’s own president, Mahmoud Abbas.

None of this is acknowledged by the Biden administration, which continues instead to sanitize, ignore and even incentivize the Palestinian Arabs’ murderous rejectionism of Israel.

What is the reason for this two-faced attitude? There’s a charitable explanation and a less charitable one.

The charitable one is that neither the American nor British government accepts that the P.A.’s objective is the extermination of Israel. This is because these governments are committed to the “two-state solution.” It requires them to define the problem to which this is the solution as the division of land between two sets of people with legitimate claims to that land.

This is clearly untrue. The P.A.’s own repeated statements, its maps and insignia depicting a state of Palestine that erases Israel, its incitement to seize Israeli cities such as Haifa and Jaffa, and its support for terrorism all show that its aim is Israel’s destruction.

Yet the American and British governments can’t allow themselves to acknowledge this. Partly, this is due to pressure from the Arab world. Mostly, though, it’s due to the implacable liberal belief in conflict resolution and peace processes.

Since the Americans and British can’t allow anything to disrupt such a peace process, they ignore any evidence of a non-negotiable and unconscionable agenda.

So Israel, which has always been willing to negotiate and has indeed offered a Palestinian Arab state on numerous occasions, gets blamed for endangering the peace process when it insists on defending itself against never-ending Palestinian Arab terrorism.

That liberal tunnel vision helps explain why the Biden administration funds the P.A. even though it continues its “pay-for-slay” stipends to terrorists’ families.

The same mindset helps explain the astonishing determination of the Biden administration—like the Obama administration before it—to make a deal with Iran that would enable it legitimately to develop nuclear weapons after only a short delay while receiving billions in sanctions relief with which to ramp up its terrorist activities and regional power grab.

The term for this mindset is cognitive dissonance. Such a denial of reality may be hard to credit. But it’s very real and very frightening.

I came up against it this week in a conversation with BBC journalists, similar to ones I’ve had on numerous previous occasions. They were simply incredulous at my assertion that the BBC’s coverage of Israel is grotesquely unbalanced, selective and distorted and amounts in large measure to Palestinian propaganda.

These conversations are always distressing. This isn’t just because the BBC rarely corrects its distortions, thus effectively abandoning Israel to an agenda of extermination. It’s also because the news outlet genuinely believes that its Israel coverage upholds its core mission to be objective, balanced and truthful.

The reason such people can never grasp that the opposite is the case is because they share the bias. They cannot see the distortions in the BBC’s coverage of Israel because they themselves believe them to be true—and that all who object are themselves biased partisans.

This is frightening because it represents a perfectly closed thought system. No evidence can ever penetrate it. Exactly the same mindset is behind the Orwellian denial of reality involved in race and gender identity politics, and in other liberal causes.

The less charitable explanation, meanwhile, is that some of those promoting the Palestinian Arab cause are motivated by malign hatred of Israel and the Jewish people. In the Biden administration, several such individuals are working in sensitive Middle East policy positions.

In Britain’s Foreign Office, its history of antisemitism going back to its shameful administration of the Palestine Mandate in the last century continues to this day, fueled by anti-Zionist “intersectionality” that has become the orthodoxy in much of Britain’s official class and many of its institutions.

What is the antidote to this madness? To call it out at the highest possible level, to hold feet to the fire and to proclaim the truth at all times.

Can this really have any effect? Yes, if there’s a proper strategy. But for that to emerge, the leadership of the Jewish world must radically up its game.

A rocket fell in an open area in southern Israel on Saturday evening, setting off sirens in Nahal Oz near the Gaza Strip.

The rocket fire comes just two days after two commanders of local branches of the Islamic Jihad and Hamas terrorist groups in Jenin were killed in clashes with Israeli forces.

The two commanders were identified as Nidal Hazem, a member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement's al-Quds Brigades and the commander of the Baha Force unit, and Youssef Shreim, a member of Hamas's al-Qassam Brigades.

A third individual identified as Omar Awadin and a fourth individual identified as Louay Khalil Al-Zaghair were killed amid the clashes as well and 23 others were wounded.

The IDF, Shin Bet and Border Police announced after the raid that they had assassinated Hazem and an additional member of the Islamic Jihad movement named Youssef Abu Ashrin.

According to the IDF, Hazem was involved in "significant terrorist activity" and Abu Ashrin was involved in producing explosives and firing at IDF soldiers, among other terrorist activity.

One of the other Palestinians killed was shot by Israeli forces after attacking the forces with a sledgehammer, according to the IDF. Israeli forces fired at a number of Palestinians who shot at them during the raid as well. No Israeli personnel were injured.

Hamas: Israeli crimes will not go unanswered

After the raid on Thursday, Hamas spokesman Abd al-Latif al-Qanou warned that "The crime of assassinating the heroes of the resistance in Jenin will not go unanswered, and our people and its resistance are capable of striking the occupation and making it pay the price for its crimes."

"The Palestinian resistance in the West Bank will remain present and escalating, and no one will be able to stop its expansion or prevent it from responding to the crimes of the occupation."

Israel and the Palestinian Authority are set to hold a meeting in Sharm el-Sheikh on Sunday in an attempt to lower tensions ahead of the month of Ramadan which is set to begin in the middle of the week.

Late last month, Israel and the PA held talks to reduce tensions in Aqaba.

On Friday evening, a Palestinian identified as Yazan Omar Khasib was shot and killed after attempting to stab an IDF soldier near Beitin.

This is a developing story.

Iran's Mullahs Mission: Wipe Out America - Majid Rafizadeh

 by Majid Rafizadeh

The Biden administration would do well to realize that a nuclear Iran is not just an existential threat to Israel; a nuclear Iran is major threat to the region, Europe, America, the world.

  • A radical regime, whose mission is to "Export the Revolution" and bring Islamist rule to the rest of the world, will not alter its aims through policies of appeasement.

  • Currently, thanks to the Biden Administration's appeasement where it would not matter and inaction where it would, Iran's ruling mullahs are closer than ever to acquiring nuclear weapons. The Biden administration would do well to realize that a nuclear Iran is not just an existential threat to Israel; a nuclear Iran is major threat to the region, Europe, America, the world.

  • The regime has made its intentions clear. Especially now that it is aligned with Putin's Russia and the Chinese Communist Party, it would like to conquer the US.

  • As recently as November, Khamenei vowed, "Death to America will happen. In the new order I am talking about America will no longer have any important role."

  • The headline of a report by Iran's state-controlled Afkar News reads (in Farsi): "American Soil Is Now Within the Range of Iranian Bombs". The report boasts about the damage that Iran could inflict, and clams that the Islamic Republic can use "a high-altitude electromagnetic bomb to attack the United States.

  • "The same type of ballistic missile technology used to launch the satellite could carry nuclear, chemical or even biological weapons to wipe Israel off the map, hit US bases and allies in the region and US facilities, and target NATO even in the far west of Europe...." — Afkar News, August 15, 2020.

  • American politicians shortsightedly fail to harden America's electric grid, probably because it will not show up as an accomplishment that donors will respond to, electorally or financially, during their election campaigns.

  • Tragically, through its appeasement policies and failure to take on the Free World's adversaries in a serious and credible way, the Biden Administration has been empowering at least one predatory regime that is determined to accomplish its mission of Jihad to rule the world at any cost; even if that requires wiping out other states. And now, thanks to the catastrophic policies of the Biden Administration -- suppressing US fossil fuel production, thereby enriching Russia so it could launch a war against Ukraine; and by snubbing America's historical ally, Saudi Arabia -- it has brought US national security to the brink.

Iran's regime has made its intentions clear. Especially now that it is aligned with Putin's Russia and the Chinese Communist Party, it would like to conquer the US. A radical regime, whose mission is to "Export the Revolution" and bring Islamist rule to the rest of the world, will not alter its aims through policies of appeasement.

The appeasement policies of the Obama Administration empowered and emboldened Iran's ruling mullahs, and the Biden Administration seems determined to pursue the same path. Recall when, upon reaching the JCPOA "nuclear deal" with Iran in 2105, then US President Barack Obama pointed out that he was "confident" that the deal, with its lifting of sanctions on Iran, would "meet the national security needs of the United States and our allies"? It was even outlined in the JCPOA preamble that all parties "anticipate that full implementation of this JCPOA will positively contribute to regional and international peace and security."

What was actually the result? The international community witnessed even more rockets launched by Yemen's Houthis at civilian targets, the deployment of Lebanese Hezbollah soldiers in Syria, and increasing attacks by the Iranian-funded Hamas on Israel. With billions of dollars of revenue pouring into the pockets of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Tehran did not change its behavior for the better. Instead, it became even more empowered and emboldened to pursue its revolutionary ideals of anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism.

Iran became, in fact, according to the US State Department, "the world's worst state sponsor of terrorism."

Worse, at the peak of these appeasement policies towards the mullahs, Iran's fundamentalist regime was emboldened to publicly harass the US Navy, detain US sailors and imprison American citizens. Khamenei has also repeatedly threatened "Death to America!" and "Death to Israel!" and made incendiary remarks about wiping Israel from the face of earth "in less than 8 minutes."

Currently, thanks to the Biden Administration's appeasement where it would not matter and inaction where it would, the Iran's ruling mullahs are closer than ever to acquiring nuclear weapons. The Biden administration would do well to realize that a nuclear Iran is not just an existential threat to Israel; a nuclear Iran is major threat to the region, Europe, America, the world.

The headline of a report by Iran's state-controlled Afkar News read (in Farsi): "American Soil Is Now Within the Range of Iranian Bombs". The report boasted about the damage that Iran could inflict, and claims that the Islamic Republic can use "a high-altitude electromagnetic bomb to attack the United States."

"The U.S. Congress' Electromagnetic Attack Commission has long warned that detonating just one nuclear bomb at high altitude [over the US] could take out the US power grid and, with it, all infrastructure. The report of March 28, 2017 of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs in the US Senate also writes in a report to the 114th Congress: 'A successful attack with an electromagnetic nuclear bomb against the United States could cause the death of approximately 90% of the American population.'"

The report adds:

"By sending a military satellite into space, Iran now has shown that it can target all American territory; the Iranian parliament had previously warned [the US] that an electromagnetic nuclear attack on the United States would likely kill 90 percent of Americans..... If the industrialized nations of the world cannot devise effective ways to defend themselves against dangerous electronic attacks, they will collapse within a few years... American soldiers will not be able to find food to eat or fire a shot."

American politicians shortsightedly fail to harden America's electric grid, probably because it will not show up as an accomplishment that donors will respond to, electorally or financially, during their election campaigns.

The European Union, which voted in favor of lifting the arms embargo against Iran, is also being threatened:

"The same type of ballistic missile technology used to launch the satellite could carry nuclear, chemical or even biological weapons to wipe Israel off the map, hit US bases and allies in the region and US facilities, and target NATO even in the far west of Europe...."

Tragically, through its appeasement policies and failure to take on the Free World's adversaries in a serious and credible way, the Biden Administration has been empowering at least one predatory regime that is determined to accomplish its mission of Jihad to rule the world at any cost; even if that requires wiping out other states. Is new strain of paranoid leftism making American teens, young adults sick? - John Mac Ghlionn

 by John Mac Ghlionn

A paper published in December by researchers at Columbia University found that teens whose political ideologies lean left are far more prone to depression than teens with more conservative beliefs.

Amid an epidemic of despair and depression sweeping through American adolescents, media and political attention has settled largely on social media and pandemic-era social distancing as culprits. All the while, an accumulating body of evidence has been quietly signaling an additional mental health risk factor many would prefer to sweep under the rug: a modern version of leftist ideology that portrays a frightening world imperiled by dangers ranging from pervasive "white supremacy" and existential "threats to our democracy" to imminent environmental doom.

Tens of millions of American teenagers are miserable. Teenage girls, according to a recent CDC report, published on Feb. 13, are particularly miserable.

Roughly 60% of U.S. teen girls have persistent feelings of sadness and despair — double the rate of boys. Close to three million teenage girls contemplated suicide in 2021, according to the extensive report.

The social isolation imposed by harshly restrictive COVID-19 mitigation strategies certainly made things worse, but rates of teen depression were rising long before the pandemic brought the country to a screeching halt.

Research clearly shows that teens who spend more time online are more likely to suffer from various mental health issues. Teen girls spend 40 minutes more a day than boys on social media. That's an extra 4 hours 40 minutes on social media each week; an extra 228 hours, or 9 1/2 days, over a year.

Apps like Instagram and TikTok, with their dangerously programmed algorithms, certainly appear to be playing a major role in the devastating mental health crisis consuming the country. Although social media platforms are contributing to the crisis, however, they are not the only factors, it seems.

The attitudes, behaviors and ideologies exhibited by primary caregivers have a profound impact on mental well-being of children. This includes parents' political ideologies, which research clearly shows are often passed onto their children and may have a huge impact on how a child sees the world. Indeed, a paper published in December by researchers at Columbia University found that teens whose political ideologies lean left are far more likely to be unhappy than teens with more conservative beliefs.

Taking both gender and political ideology into account, the paper, titled "The politics of depression: Diverging trends in internalizing symptoms among US adolescents by political beliefs," found:

  • Liberal girls are more prone to depression than more conservative girls.
  • Conservative boys are the least prone to depressive symptoms.
  • Liberal boys appear to be considerably more depressed than conservative girls.

The paper clearly demonstrates the correlation between political ideologies and mental well-being (and lack thereof), although the authors, all experts in epidemiology, maintain that the reasons why liberal boys and girls are so miserable are not clear.

There are varied contributing factors, of course. After all, almost every single teenager is on social media. This includes teenagers who lean left, those who lean right, moderates, and teenagers who lack any political beliefs whatsoever. When it comes to inflicting misery, social media does not discriminate.

Depression, however, has a genetic component as well as an environmental component. It's a mixture of nature and nurture. Democrats are more likely than conservatives to be depressed, and, as peer-reviewed research shows, depression can be passed onto offspring. For example, research by Neil Montgomery, a psychologist at Keene State College, shows a strong link between neurotic parenting and neurotic children.

In a 2020 study drawing on the trove of American attitudinal data gathered by the General Social Survey, Emil O.W. Kirkegaard, a researcher who has examined the links between political beliefs and mental health, found a strong link between liberal beliefs and poorer mental health, one that is not accounted for by variance in socio-economic status.

"Originally, one could have forwarded a model where mostly low SES people voted left, and these have lower mental health in general (weakly so)," Kirkegaard told Just the News via email. But, he added, "it's no longer the case that left voters or ideology supporters are low SES, and yet the link remains."

In a meta-analysis "based on the combined index of mental health across all of the years of data," Kirkegaard found extreme liberals had a 150% higher risk of mental illness compared to a reference group of political moderates.

Moving across theideological spectrum, the results showed "a small increase among the liberals and slightly liberals (+29 to 32%), and somewhat lower rates among conservatives and extreme conservatives (-17 to 24%)," Kirkegaard reported. "Breaking the pattern, slightly conservatives had a marginally increased rate (+6%)."

To understand why liberals tend to have poorer mental health, said Kirkegaard, one must consider factors like "neuroticism (conservatives lower), sensitivity to negativity (more or less the same as neuroticism), and religiousness (clear life goals, hope for afterlife etc.)."

The finding of increased mental illness among left-wingers is congruent with numerous findings based on related constructs, such as positive relationships between conservatism, religiousness, optimism and health in general. A 2017 study published in the journal Psychological Reports, for example, demonstrated that conservatives experience greater levels of satisfaction compared to liberals, thanks to lower levels of neuroticism, a trait that predisposes a person to experience negative emotions, including anger, as well as anxiety, irritability, and depression. Strong life satisfaction is strongly correlated with a higher quality of life.

In a 2021 Psychology Today article, contributor Scott McGreal downplayed the positive correlation between religious faith and mental and physical health, citing research showing that the health benefits of faith are largely limited to cultural contexts in which religion commands great respect and are not readily discernible in more secular settings.

"On the other hand," McGreal acknowledged, "conservatism and liberalism are associated with the personality traits of conscientiousness and neuroticism, respectively, which are more robustly linked with mental health than religiosity."

The debate about the contextual preconditions of the link between religious faith and mental well-being is especially pertinent in connection with the widely noted similarities between woke orthodoxy and religious dogma. Prompted by the growing body of academic literature linking progressive ideology to depression, author Marc Schifanelli undertook a deep dive into the emotional roots of the contemporary left in his 2022 book "Freedom, Emotion and Fascism: A Psycho-Sociological Analysis of the Modern American Progressive Movement."

"I've seen young people, college-aged and even younger adults, that have been indoctrinated, literally, by the progressive mentality ... and it really is sort of like a sect, and it has been referred to as like a new religion, really, it almost replaces some of the needs that religion fulfills in people's psyche," Schifanelli observed in a recent interview on the John Solomon reports podcast.

Like sectarian dogmatism, Schifarelli explained, today's woke orthodoxy is impervious to reason. It's easy to "poke holes" in progressive doctrine "if you use logic," he said, "which is one reason why progressives love to shout down everybody else, because ultimately their arguments are so fallible that they literally got to shout down everybody to keep them from speaking. Because they can't, in the end, compete with logic and reason."

As cases in point, Schifanelli cited recent leftist efforts to silence conservative activist Charlie Kirk and federal judge Kyle Duncan at University of California Davis and Stanford University, respectively. "It's really a disgrace," he said, "but that's their main tactic."

Going forward, the mental health gap between those on the left and those on the right will only grow, Kirkegaard suggests, as mainstream left ideology in Western countries, the U.S. included, is now fixated on the idea of embracing mental illness "as a kind of in-group marker."

Ultimately, the way to preserve rising generations from the woke worldview they are being force-fed through the schools and other institutional pillars of American life is simply "getting to them first," says Schifarelli. He urges parents to discuss current events openly at the dinner table and arm their kids with the critical thinking skills they'll need to "see through" the shallow emotionalism of the woke gospel.

"Talk to your kids early, and let them know that they're not racist, they're not responsible for slavery, they shouldn't feel guilt for this," he said. "And in the book, I do talk about this. I call it a 'faux guilt' that progressives seem to enjoy, you know, feeling guilty for something that they had nothing to do with. Usually when you feel guilty for something, you're responsible for whatever it is that was done wrongfully. And so it's very odd behavior."
