Trump set a deadline of August 1 for new higher tariffs to be imposed on the European Union
President Donald Trump met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Sunday to discuss trade and other issues.
Trump announced that a trade deal has been reached.
"We are agreeing that the tariff straight-across for automobiles and everything else will be a straight-across tariff of 15%," Trump said.
"They're going to purchase $750 billion worth of energy, so that's going to be great, and $600 billion of investments into the United States over and above what they have," he added.
The deadline of August 1 for new higher tariffs to be imposed on the European Union is fast approaching.
Trump has said the tariff on European imports would be 30% tariff if a trade deal isn't reached.
Trump
was on his golf course in Turnberry on Saturday. He will be visiting
the Trump Organization's golf course in Aberdeen that is formally
opening next month.
The Associated Press reported that Trump and his son Eric will participate in the ribbon-cutting for the new course.
The public tee times are set to start on Aug. 13.
