Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Wednesday night that security negotiations are underway with Syria.

The conclusion of the negotiations involves ensuring Israel's interests, which include the demilitarization of southwestern Syria and maintaining the safety and security of the Druze population in the region.

Earlier reports of de-escalation

Earlier reports in a "de-escalation" agreement stated that Syria will agree not to move any machinery or heavy equipment near the Israeli border, according to US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack.

Since then, Israel has carried out more than 1,000 strikes on Syria and conducted more than 400 ground incursions, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said last week.

Speaking shortly before Barrack at an event in New York, Sharaa, a former al-Qaeda leader who led rebel forces that overthrew Assad's government last year, expressed concern that Israel may be stalling the talks.
