Senate Republicans are getting closer to confirming dozens of President Donald Trump's nominees after changing the rules in the chamber last week.
Last week, the Senate went with what is being called the "nuclear option," which lets the chamber confirm lots of nominees in just one vote, according to The Hill newspaper.
On Wednesday, the Senate had multiple votes on the first of the blocs and the upcoming confirmation votes. The final vote will happen on Thursday.
“Democrat obstruction ends today,” Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso said in a statement. “Democrats failed to defeat President Trump in November at the ballot box, so instead they’re trying to sabotage his team right here on the Senate floor.”
Forty-eight nominees for lower-level positions in the Trump administration are expected to be confirmed soon.
Among the nominees are Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was nominated as ambassador to Greece, and Callista Gingrich for ambassador to Liechtenstein.
