UNIFIL troops patrolling in the area where an exchange of fire between Israeli and Lebanese troops took place Tuesday, determined that the incident took place entirely within Israeli territory and that the IDF forces did not cross the border into Lebanon.
The IDF believes that a Lebanese company commander is behind the ambush on IDF forces. Investigations are currently underway to determine the identity of the commander, and whether he was ordered to do the shooting or acted on his own.
