The Tikvah Scholarships will provide a total of four Jewish and/or Israeli (of any or no faith) undergraduates studying at the college with £5,000 for the year.
St Anne’s College, Oxford, is set to launch Tikvah Scholarships for Jewish and/or Israeli undergraduates beginning in the 2025/6 academic year.
The Tikvah Scholarships will provide a total of four Jewish and/or Israeli (of any or no faith) undergraduates studying at the college. It is set to allocate £5,000 per academic year to each of the four.
Potential candidates are required to demonstrate a clear plan to give back to Jewish or Israeli communities. They will be asked to report back at the end of the academic year on the difference the scholarship made to them and the Jewish or Israeli communities.
The scholarships were made possible due to a collaboration with the organization Leg-Up Charity for Kids (LUCK), which advances the education of young people in the UK. Notably, this is the first time that LUCK has partnered in an initiative to support Jewish or Israeli students. The LUCK charity received advice from the British Campaign Against Antisemitism.
St Anne's said its alumni generously donated the money to establish these scholarships, “which aim to support Jewish and Israeli students in Oxford, fostering greater understanding between people of different faiths and cultures.”
Principal Helen Mary King said, “From our founding as the Society of Oxford Home-Students in 1879, St Anne’s has always sought to include and welcome students who had previously been unable to access an Oxford education.”
College says students will join a 'diverse, collaborative, supportive community'
“The agreement with the Leg-Up Charity for Kids to fund scholarships for Jewish and Israeli undergraduates (of all faiths and none), supports that ambition and sends a clear message to applicants from these groups that at St Anne’s they will join a diverse, collaborative, and supportive community.”Former principal of St Anne’s College, Baroness Ruth Deech, said: “I welcome financial assistance for St Anne’s students, especially when it extends eligibility to a new group, one that has suffered disruption to their studies and hardship in recent times.”
The application deadline for admissions for 2026 entry is October 15, 2025.
