In Gallagher Fenwick’s report, he, in his words, “snoops around” a location he’d previously reported from days earlier, from where a rocket aimed at Israel had been fired during his live stand-up report.
“This type of setup is at the heart of the debate,” says Gallagher. “The Israeli army has repeatedly accused the Palestinian militants of shooting from within densely populated civilian areas and that is precisely the type of setup we have here.”
With the 72-hour cease fire now in place as of Tuesday morning, similar reports are beginning to seep out by other journalists who have since left Gaza, and feel free to report the situation on the ground.
The IDF said Tuesday that Hamas and other terror groups fired 3,356 rockets at Israel during Operation Protective Edge, with 2,303 hitting within Israeli territory.
The update sent to reporters said 475 of the projectiles landed within the Gaza Strip.
“Prior to the operation, the IDF estimated the Gaza rockets arsenal at approximately 10,000 rockets. 1/3 of which were fired at Israel, and an additional 1/3 was demolished by the IDF,” the statement said.
