House Judiciary GOP subpoena FBI's Christopher Wray, AG Merrick Garland - Ben Whedon

by Ben Whedon

Jordan previously warned Garland in mid-January that the he might face such a subpoena should he not cooperate House Republican demands for information.

The House Judiciary Committee has issued subpoenas to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland, demanding they provide the committee with documents pertaining to FBI investigations of school board meetings.

In October of 2021, Garland issued a memo highlighting "violent threats" against school officials amid a rise in parental opposition to the teaching of Critical Race Theory in public schools. That memo, directing law enforcement to address the issue, attracted considerable scrutiny from conservatives who categorized it as part of the Biden administration's alleged "weaponization" of federal agencies.

The subpoena, which the Epoch Times reviewed, marks one of the first salvos by House Republicans against the administration as part of the bevy of investigations they have initiated against it. The committee set a March 1 deadline for the handover of the materials.

Lawmakers seek all documents and communications in connection with the FBI's "EDUOFFICIALS" threat tag and any investigations stemming from it. They further indicated that the subpoena is "continuing in nature" and that lawmakers expect the agency to provide them with relevant materials not yet created should more develop.

Jordan previously warned Garland in mid-January that the he might face such a subpoena should he not cooperate House Republican demands for information.

In August of 2022, Jordan indicated that whistleblowers from within the FBI had revealed more than two dozen probes of parents who had voiced opposition to school policies. The bevy of FBI whistleblowers came amid mounting allegations of political bias in the wake of the FBI's Aug. 8, 2022, raid on former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.

The bureau faced several other whistleblower reports about myriad bias issues even prior to that event.

House GOP investigating John Kerry's secret China negotiations - Ben Whedon

by Ben Whedon

Comer's letter to Kerry is but one of many such document requests House Republicans have sent in recent weeks.

Republicans on the House Oversight Committee are investigating private discussions that White House climate czar John Kerry held with Chinese Communist Party officials.

In a Thursday letter, committee chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., informed Kerry of the investigation and renewed requests for documents and materials connected to his activities as the Special Presidential Envoy for Climate (SPEC), according to Fox News. Comer made similar requests while Republicans were the minority in the lower chamber, but Kerry ignored them.

While in his current post, Kerry has held a number of private discussions with Beijing officials about the administration's ambitious climate agenda. The details of those conversations and the origins of the administration's seemingly lenient stances on Beijing-related environmental issues are of interest to Comer.

"The Committee requests documents and information to understand your role and provide necessary transparency over the SPEC and its activities," the Kentucky lawmaker wrote. "As a member of the President’s cabinet, you should be representing the United States’ interests. Your statements, however, consistently show disregard for American national security and taxpayer dollars."

"To date, you have failed to respond to any of our requests... Yet, you continue to engage in activities that could undermine our economic health, skirt congressional authority, and threaten foreign policy under the guise of climate advocacy," he added.

Comer's letter to Kerry is but one of many such document requests House Republicans have sent in recent weeks. Under Comer's leadership, the Oversight Committee is mounting a bevy of investigations into the Biden administration, including an inquiry into the Biden family's private business dealings and the president's alleged mishandling of classified documents.

Kerry took up his post as SPEC in 2021. He previously served as former President Barack Obama's second secretary of state and unsuccessfully challenged former President George W. Bush for the nation's top job in 2004.

Biden speaks about Chinese spy balloon on camera for first time, says 'we're gonna take care of it' - Chris Pandolfo

Biden speaks briefly about Chinese spy balloon US officials have said committed an 'unacceptable' violation of American sovereignty

WHERE IS THE CHINESE SPY BALLOON NOW? AIRSHIP SPOTTED FLYING OVER NORTH CAROLINA

Photos shared Friday evening by the National Weather Service in Kansas City, Missouri, showed what appeared to be the balloon, which was first reported to be hovering over Montana, visible from its office in Pleasant Hill that appeared to be headed southeast. "We have confirmed that it is not an NWS weather balloon," NWS Kansas City said.

The Pentagon announced that the U.S. was tracking the balloon as it made its way across the U.S. on Thursday, when it was hovering over Montana.

Senior State and Defense Department officials have called the balloon's presence in U.S. airspace an "unacceptable" violation of United States Sovereignty. Secretary of State Antony Blinken indefinitely postponed a trip to China to meet President Xi Jinping in these circumstances.

Republicans, including Missouri Gov. Mike Parson and Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte, have demanded that Biden shoot the balloon down and accused the president of being weak towards China.

Several U.S. officials have cautioned that the balloon is flying at 60,000 ft., is roughly the size of three greyhound buses and is carrying heavy surveillance equipment – they say shooting it down could cause American civilian casualties on the ground.

Biden was briefed on the situation earlier this week and asked for military options to deal with the balloon. He may order the balloon shot down once it becomes safe to do so.

China spy balloon shows country is preparing citizens for war that could come at ‘any time’: expert - Andrew Mark Miller

by Andrew Mark Miller

Gordon Chang told Fox News Digital that US policy has 'created the conditions for history's next great war'

A Chinese spy balloon flying over U.S. airspace in Montana signals that the country is preparing its citizens for war, an expert on U.S. and China relations told Fox News Digital.

"The #ChineseSpyBalloon shows us that #China is preparing to go to war," Gordon Chang, a columnist and author who has written several books on China, tweeted on Friday following the discovery of a Chinese surveillance balloon over Montana the day before.

"We know what the Chinese are doing," Chang explained. "They’re engaged in the fastest military buildup since the Second World War. They’re trying to sanctions-proof their regime, and most ominously they’re preparing China’s civilians for war."

Chang pointed to a recent move from Chinese President Xi Jinping shortly after he was appointed to his precedent breaking third term as General Secretary at the National Congress in October, when he appointed what is being referred to as the "war cabinet."

"China is preparing to go to war," Chang, author of "The Coming Collapse of China," said. "It’s engaged in extremely provocative and dangerous activities around its periphery, and war could come at any time and at any place."

Chang told Fox News Digital that decades of inaction to combat Chinese aggression in Taiwan and the South China Sea and across the globe have created an atmosphere where China does not fear repercussions for acts of aggression, such as the spy balloon that has been floating over the United States for days.

"The United States is so much more powerful than China from almost every perspective and yet the Chinese don't view it this way," Chang said. "The Chinese view that they can do whatever they want because we have told them that they can do that."

Chang continued, "The Chinese have engaged in a number of activities that violate our sovereignty, and some of those activities constitute acts of war, and we did not respond. And it's not just not responding in February 2023, it's not responding over the course of decades. So, of course, the Chinese have this mentality right now. We have created the conditions for history's next great war."

China confirmed on Friday that it is the owner of a surveillance balloon that it claimed is a civilian research craft that was blown far off course by prevailing winds, adding that it regrets the incident.

Chang told Fox News Digital there is "no way" that explanation is true, and the Biden administration has faced strong criticism from Republicans, including former President Trump, for not shooting down the craft which Chang says he would have done if he were in Biden's position.

The United States has so far opted against shooting down the balloon, which is flying over a state that houses several U.S. military installations and intercontinental ballistic missile fields, arguing that doing so could endanger people on the ground.

"The United States government has detected and is tracking a high-altitude surveillance balloon that is over the continental United States right now," Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, Pentagon press secretary, said in a statement. "The U.S. government, to include NORAD, continues to track and monitor it closely. The balloon is currently traveling at an altitude well above commercial air traffic and does not present a military or physical threat to people on the ground. Instances of this kind of balloon activity have been observed previously over the past several years.

"Once the balloon was detected, the U.S. government acted immediately to protect against the collection of sensitive information."

The Revolution in Iran Will Succeed - Caroline Glick

by Caroline Glick

My guest this week was Mehrdad Youssefiani. Youssefiani is an Iranian freedom activist and a longtime counselor to Prince Reza Pahlevi, the son of the late Shah of Iran and one of the most outspoken advocates for regime change in Iran.

The massacre of seven Jews outside their synagogue in the Neve Ya’akov neighborhood of Jerusalem Friday night by a Palestinian terrorist didn’t only happen on the eve of the Sabbath. Friday was also International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

In my opening remarks in this week’s Caroline Glick Show, I discussed the connection between the demonization of the Jews in Germany and Europe from the mid-19th century through the rise of the Nazis, and their physical annihilation. The Jerusalem Arabs who committed Friday’s attack, like the one who shot two Jews in Ir David on Saturday morning, were the products of their society.

My guest this week was Mehrdad Youssefiani. Youssefiani is an Iranian freedom activist and a longtime counselor to Prince Reza Pahlevi, the son of the late Shah of Iran and one of the most outspoken advocates for regime change in Iran. Youssefiani, who is visiting Israel this week, came to the JNS studio in Jerusalem to discuss the weekend explosions in Iran and their impact on the now five-month-old revolution in the streets of Iran.

Youssefiani excoriated the U.S. and European media for ignoring and distorting the reality of the revolution, noting that “this is the first feminist revolution in human history,” but the media doesn’t care. Youssefiani discussed what needs to be done to build a different regime in Iran and what the U.S., Europe and other international actors can do to facilitate the downfall of the terrorist regime in Tehran. Among his many critical messages, Youssefiani bitterly implored the leaders of the free world that if they don’t intend to help the revolutionaries, the least they could do is stop supporting and empowering the Khomeinist regime in Tehran. This includes finally ending their nuclear diplomacy with the ayatollahs.

Youssefiani also explored the 3,000-year friendship between the Persian and Jewish people and the longstanding influence of Cyrus the Great on the people of Iran and their approach to the Jewish people and to Israel.

Biggest Gift to Iran's Mullahs, China and Russia: Biden Administration's Weak Leadership - Majid Rafizadeh

by Majid Rafizadeh

So long as the Biden administration does not demonstrate real leadership, Iran, Russia and China will continue to seize all opportunities to become more empowered and emboldened. The Biden administration's legacy so far appears to be leaving the world a far more dangerous place.

  • Thanks to the Biden administration's weak and vacillating leadership, Iran, Russia and China have been emboldened to levels never before seen.

  • [T]he Biden administration has not been taking any action to deter, disincentivize or punish those who breach the sanctions. Ever since the Biden administration assumed office, in fact, Iran's oil exports have been on the rise... of which more than 800,000 barrels a day are being exported to China.

  • Thanks to the Biden administration's abject posture towards China; its dithering over help to Ukraine; its ruining the US economy by shutting down America's energy independence then rushing to buy oil from Saudi Arabia and Venezuela rather than Canada; the unconscionable abandonment of Afghanistan and our allies there; the Biden family's appearance of influence-peddling, and, by closing down the China Initiative, the administration's failure to stop Communist China's runaway espionage, Russia, Iran and China are simply not taking the US seriously.

  • So long as the Biden administration does not demonstrate real leadership, Iran, Russia and China will continue to seize all opportunities to become more empowered and emboldened. The Biden administration's legacy so far appears to be leaving the world a far more dangerous place.

Thanks to the Biden administration's weak and vacillating leadership, Iran, Russia and China have been emboldened to levels never before seen.

First, the US sanctions against Russia are completely being smoothly violated by Iran's mullahs and China. Despite the Biden administration's sanctions, Iran's oil exports have reached a new peak last month.

Bloomberg reported:

"While everyone looks at Russia, another oil-rich country under Western sanctions has quietly increased its production: Iran.... Iran's oil exports are surging... Much of it appears to be finding its way to China. The country's oil exports surged to about 1.3 million barrels a day in November [2022], and last month held near the highest in four years, according to data from Vortexa Ltd. and Kpler, two well-known shipping analytics firms."

Although the US sanctions did have a negative impact on the Iranian economy prior to the Biden administration, as more countries violate them, the US sanctions have become cosmetic.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration has not been taking any action to deter, disincentivize or punish those who breach the sanctions. Ever since the Biden administration assumed office, in fact, Iran's oil exports have been on the rise.

While in 2018 and 2019, Iran's oil exports were significantly reduced to 100,000 to 200,000 barrels a day, Iran is currently exporting more than a million barrels a day -- of which more than 800,000 barrels a day are being exported to China.

The Iranian regime is also assisting Russia in war crimes without facing any consequences, according to The Sunday Guardian:

"Speaking anonymously because of the sensitivity of the matter, [a US] official said that [on August 19] one [Russian] plane carried $150m in cash and a number of captured UK and US weapons to Iran in exchange for a large number of deadly drones for Russia's use in its war against Ukraine.... These had all been shipped to Ukraine for their use against the invaders, but had "fallen into Russian hands....For their part, the Iranians supplied Russia in excess of 200 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which included more than 100 ... drones, nicknamed "kamikaze" drones because they are designed to crash into their targets and explode on impact. They are capable of delivering explosive payloads at distances of up to 1,500 miles. The rest of the load was ... able to carry guided missiles or bombs.... [Russia's] use of a combination of cruise missiles and Iranian self-detonating UAVs, packed with explosives, has deprived millions of Ukrainian citizens of electricity and running water, deliberately contravening the Geneva Convention.... The WHO has documented 703 attacks by Russia on Ukrainian health infrastructure since its invasion began."

The White House has acknowledged that it has evidence that Iranian troops were "directly engaged on the ground" in Crimea supporting Russian drone attacks. National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated:

"The [drone] systems themselves were suffering failures and not performing to the standards that apparently the customers expected... So the Iranians decided to move in some trainers and some technical support to help the Russians use them with better lethality."

Both Russia and Iran are also strengthening their military links. While Russia is receiving weapons and military personnel from Iran, the mullahs -- in addition to reverse-engineering the state-of-the-art US and British materiel that Russia captured -- are reportedly seeking Moscow's assistance to complete Iran's nuclear weapons program.

Thanks to the Biden administration's abject posture towards China; its dithering over help to Ukraine; its ruining the US economy by shutting down America's energy independence then rushing to buy oil from Saudi Arabia and Venezuela rather than Canada; the unconscionable abandonment of Afghanistan and our allies there; the Biden family's appearance of influence-peddling, and, by closing down the China Initiative, the administration's failure to stop Communist China's runaway espionage, Russia, Iran and China are simply not taking the US seriously.

"Biden is a complete joke with regard to foreign policy," U.S. Senator Rick Scott pointed out.

"Why is Putin doing this? Because he knows Biden is weak. Biden would rather have ice cream with somebody than stand up for Americans... "It's a disaster. I mean, Biden's a clown. Biden's never been a serious person. He's just a talker. Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, that's all he's ever done."

Scott also cited former President Barack Obama is reported to have warned the US: "Don't underestimate Joe's ability to fuck things up."

Even some of America's European allies, despite the US sanctions, are freely doing business with Iran's theocratic establishment. Mehr News Agency stated:

"Iran and the European Union's 27 member states traded €4.36 billion worth of goods during the first 10 months of 2022, registering a 14.28% rise compared with last year's corresponding period... Germany was the top trading partner of Iran in the EU region during the period, as the two countries exchanged over €1.6 billion worth of goods, 15.44% more than in a similar period of the year before. Italy came next with €555.39 million worth of trade with Iran to register an 11.14% year-on-year rise.... the Netherlands with €351.94 million (down 10.76%) and Spain with €296.06 million (up 13.12%) were Iran's other major European trade partners."

So long as the Biden administration does not demonstrate real leadership, Iran, Russia and China will continue to seize all opportunities to become more empowered and emboldened. The Biden administration's legacy so far appears to be leaving the world a far more dangerous place.

Anarchy, American-Style - Victor Davis Hanson

by Victor Davis Hanson

Why the current revolution is much different - and far more dangerous.

The 1960s revolution was both anarchic and nihilist. But it was waged against—not from—the establishment. Hippies and the Left either attacked institutions or, in Timothy Leary fashion, chose to “turn on, tune in, drop out” from them.

The current revolution is much different—and far more dangerous—for at least three reasons.

The Establishment Is the Revolution

The current Left has no intention of “dropping out.” Why would it?

It now controls the very institutions of America that it once mocked and attacked—corporate boardrooms, Wall Street, state and local prosecuting attorneys, most big-city governments, the media, the Pentagon, network and most of cable news, professional sports, Hollywood, music, television, K-12 education, and academia.

In other words, the greatest levers of influence and power—money, education, entertainment, government, the news, and popular culture—are in the hands of the Left. They have transformed legitimate debate over gay marriage into a hate crime. Transgenderism went from a modern manifestation of ancient transvestism or gender dysphoria to a veritable litmus test of whether one was good or evil.

Students have no need to jam administrators’ offices because the latter, themselves, are as radical as the protestors and often lead them on in a top-down fashion. Had they not long ago demonstrated they were perfectly willing to subvert meritocracy, free expression, and equality under the law, they would not be occupying their present positions.

Apple, Google, Facebook, and other tech companies are not 1980s and 1990s “alternative” media geeks and hipsters creating neat gadgets for the people. They are not Steve Jobs and his pugnacious Apple battling the evil Microsoft or IBM, or the Macintosh commercial of 1984 depicting a maverick throwing a hammer into Big Brother’s screen. They are the Orwellian screen.

The current generation of techies is effectively Stalinist. Big Tech now colludes with the FBI, the Democratic Party, and the bureaucratic state to suppress free expression, warp balloting, and serve as contractors of government surveillance. Currently, the most totalitarian people in America are likely to wear flip flops, have a nose ring or pink hair, and disguise their fascism with ’60s-retread costumes.

There are no “armies of the night” marching on the Pentagon. Would-be demonstrators see no need, since radical identity politics, and gay, woke, and transgendered agendas are fast-tracked by the Department of Defense.

There are no protests against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement bureau or the “La Migra” anymore by advocates of illegal immigration, because the Left owns the border. And it has utterly destroyed it. There is no border, no border enforcement, and no meaningful immigration law. As many as 6 million illegal entries during the first two years of the Biden Administration are proof enough of that.

There are no cutting-edge Lenny Bruces or Mort Sahls fighting state censorship because entertainers accept that 1) there are no impediments to vulgarity or pornographic expression, but 2) no comic or commentator dares to take on the diversity, equity, and inclusion woke industry because he assumes he would be crushed, and his career ruined.

Question the woke status quo, and one is not canonized in Vanity Fair or Rolling Stone as a fighter against the “uptight establishment” or “the man” as in the past, but now demonized as a racist purveyor of “hate speech” and enemy of the people.

The Left does not despise the FBI. It lauds it. And the bureau is no longer consumed with tracking down violent criminals and terrorists. Instead, it has become an enemy of parents worried about school indoctrination, or a retrieval service for lost first-family classified papers, laptops and diaries, or a Washington, D.C., cadre knee-deep in big money politics.

FBI agents are praised on left–wing media—given they have been activist conspirators who sought to destroy conservative candidates, deleted subpoenaed data, lied to federal investigators or committees while under oath, colluded with Russian oligarchs, doctored court evidence, and paid foreign nationals to compile campaign dirt on American citizens.

There are no longer calls for a “three strikes” solution to violent crime as in the past, or talk of adopting the successful, time-tried “broken windows” theories of law enforcement, because there is no enforcement to modulate. The debate is no longer over enforcing the law, because de facto there is no law.

The new legal establishment has replaced the old by simply nuking centuries of jurisprudence. Violent repeat criminal offenders injure and maim innocents in the morning and are released by noon to prey again—themselves baffled that the state is even crazier than they are.

Note in the 2020-2021 riots, almost no one temporarily arrested was tried, despite $2 billion in damages, upwards of 40 violent deaths, the 1,500 injured law enforcement officers, and the torching of a courthouse, police precinct, and historic Washington, D.C., church. Instead, they were lauded by a mayor as participants in a “summer of love.” Seattle and Washington simply ceded city property to the violent protestors as if they occupied it by right of their superior morality.

The summation of the entire sordid summer was the CNN chyron assuring America that the protests on their screens were “mostly peaceful” as flames shot up to the sky in the background. In the 1960s, rioters forced social welfare concessions—or else!—on the establishment. Today the establishment welcomes urban unrest as an excuse to implement agendas that in normal times would be unpalatable.

In sum, we are living in anarchy, as institutions themselves have become nihilistic and weapons of the revolution. The Left, in viral fashion, took over the DNA of America’s institutions, and used them to help destroy their creators.

If we are bewildered why Harvard law-graduate prosecutors let out violent criminals just hours after their arrests; or why hyper-rich, pampered athletes who live in near-apartheid enclaves  insult the flag, ignore the National Anthem, and sloganeer woke platitudes, it is because they were taught to undermine the status quo by fundamentally becoming it.

In our present anarchy, $7 a dozen eggs are affordable. Unaffordable gas prices become merely necessary “transitions” to fossil fuels. A “secure” border means there is none. Natural gas must be banned because it supposedly causes asthma. Tens of thousands of homeless defecate, urinate, inject, and fornicate in the increasingly vacant downtowns of Los Angeles and San Francisco, as the Golden Bear state, California, discusses reintroducing Grizzly bears.

Cars and yards are evil, elevators, high-rises, and buses sacred. There are 81 genders (and counting), with even more names for them. “Racist” is our exclamation point, fillip, a mere add-on emphatic. Everything from SAT tests to obesity to working out is racist. When little is racist, then everything must become racist.

Batter someone to a pulp and you are out of jail in six hours; claim an election was suspicious and you can be in there for six months or more. Proven merit is a pejorative. Grades are deemed useless by those who could never earn As. Boilerplate equity oaths are the best guide to hiring, retention, and admission. The ACLU or the Anti-Defamation League exist only to spot the incorrect kind of censorship and the wrong kind of antisemitism.

Macintosh Becomes MacBeth

The second contribution to the present anarchy is big tech, which speeds up the revolution and spreads it broadly. Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four was predicated not just on the Sovietization of the state, but the electronically ubiquitous and near instantaneous means by which the apparat ensures its dominance. One of the strangest things about the Left is that it no longer warns of 1984 but emulates it.

How the Left became synonymous with the Internet, social media, mobile phones, pads, and laptops is a long story. But let it be said the Left, and not conservatives, have mastered them all. It has manipulated high tech to change the way we vote, access information, communicate, consume the news, buy, and sell, and express ourselves. In sum, they run Oceania and we work for their various bureaus.

Our tech complex has combined the ethos of the 19th-century monopoly with the Chinese Communist system of mass ideological manipulation. The result is that the old Twitter or Facebook mob can ruin a career in a nanosecond. Google can manipulate the order of search results to render you a clueless Winston Smith bewildered by the alternate “reality” that pops up on your computer screen.

Wikipedia is pseudo-official falsification. Trotskization relied on scissors and paste; cancel culture can end you by a split-second use of the delete button—and erase you to 7 billion on the planet.

Big Money, Big Woke

Globalization hollowed out the red-state interior and enriched the blue bicoastal elite. Wealth in mining, farming, construction, manufacturing, and assembly became dwarfed by riches of investment, high tech, social media, law, insurance, and real estate. The former were the up-by-the boot straps conservatives, the latter one day rich and the next moment through hype, investment, and venture capital, richer than anyone in the history of civilization.

The wealthiest ZIP codes and congressional districts are blue, not red. Most of the Fortune 400 billionaires are left-wing. So, there is no ’60s-style talk about the evils of corporations and the supposedly idle rich, none of the old conspiracy theories about Anaconda Copper, ITT, or the Rockefellers.

The corporations are the Left and in service to it. Disney, American Airlines, and Nike are revolutionary icons, always ready to divest, cancel, fire, hire, and propagandize in service to woke commissars. That they are terrified by tiny bullies who have no constituencies is true, but then a Robespierre, Lenin, and Mao had initially no broad support either—at least before each mastered the use of terror and fright.

In our anarchy, “dark money” like Mark Zuckerberg’s $419 million cash infusion into the 2020 balloting processes is now suddenly good, given it is almost all leftwing. Democrats outraise Republicans in campaign contributions by anywhere from three- to five-to-one. Bundling is noble.

Netflix can buy the brand name of the Obamas for $100 million; George Soros can spend his pocket change of $40 million to elect district attorneys to destroy the law and empower criminals. Jimmy Carter used to be the poor-man idol of the old Democratic Party. Today, there is hardly a Democratic president, ex-president, or presidential candidate who is not a multi-multimillionaire—most by leveraging their heightened political profile.

What anarchy we live in when the richest among us are the most radical and wish to destroy for all others what they enjoy.

John Kerry lectures us on climate change from his private jet. Your leaf blower, not his Gulfstream GIV-SP, is the global threat. Al Gore screams about the evils of carbon emissions—after pocketing $100 million by selling his failed and worthless cable station to smoky and sooty Qatar, fronting for the antisemitic Al Jazeera.

The Clintons feel the pain of the poor all the way to their $100 million fortune from shakedown lectures, Wall Street, “consulting,” and “foundation” contributions. Van Jones, CNN expert, the object of Valerie Jarrett’s oohing and awing, famous for his “whitelash” exegeses, and recipient of a $100 million Bezos award, now lectures us that the five rogue black policemen in Memphis, who beat to death a black suspect, are still proof of white racism that accounts for blacks belittling the lives of blacks.

In our present anarchy, we take seriously the lectures on microaggressions from the Duchess of Montecito. The Obamas weigh in on the dangers of climate change and rising seas from their seaside, multimillion-dollar Martha’s Vineyard estate, or Hawaii beachfront mansion that apparently has an invisible climate-change barrier on its beach. Kamala Harris is our border czar who assures us it is “secure,” defined by 5 million illegal entries since she took office.

Nancy Pelosi works for the “children” and, after a life in politics, that selflessness ends up worth $100 million from her husband’s insider real estate deals and stock tips. It is almost as if socialist Bernie Sanders owned three homes, or anti-capitalist Elizabeth Warren was once a house flipper.

So, the current revolution is anarchy, utter confusion, pure chaos.

Every time one turns on a computer, there will be someone or something somewhere ideologically warping its use. Your vote means nothing when California cannot account for 10 million automatically, computer-guided mailed-out ballots. That state is still in a drought, defined by releasing most of the water to the ocean that the wettest winter in memory produced.

Stanford students talk revolution, Antifa, and Black Lives Matter, and want to forbid the use of “American.” But from the look of their parking lots, they cannot decide whether Lexus, BMW, or Mercedes should be the most preferred campus car. Oprah and Whoopi suffer terribly from white supremacy. Jussie the foot soldier heroically took on one MAGA thug for each of his foot kicks.

“Don’t take off your mask” at a California McDonald’s means the man who ordered that edict is maskless at the French Laundry. “Don’t get your hair done during the lockdown” means the architect of that fiat sneaks around her salon, which she has all to herself.

The common denominator to the anarchy? The hardcore Left is your FBI, CIA, and Justice Department all in one. It is Nineteen Eighty-Four. It is our era’s J. P. Morgan.

No wonder we are confused by the establishment anarchists and the anarchy they produce.

House bill rescinding $71B for 87k IRS agents stalled in Senate after nearly 4 weeks without vote - Nicholas Ballasy

by Nicholas Ballasy

In a recent poll, a solid majority of respondents supported the House-passed bill that strips the IRS funding from the Democrats' $740 billion Inflation Reduction Act.

A House-passed bill rescinding $71.5 billion for the hiring of up to 87,000 IRS agents has languished in the Democrat-led Senate for nearly four weeks without a vote.

The funding was part of the $740 billion Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that Democrats passed last year.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy pledged to schedule a vote to eliminate the funding as his first order of business in the new, Republican-led House. The GOP bill passed along party lines on Jan. 9.

Republicans have argued the funding could be used to target Americans earning less than $400,000 per year with additional audits. In response to the criticism, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen wrote to the IRS instructing the agency not to use additional resources to target individuals or families in that category.

"Instead, new funding will crack down on tax evaders among the wealthy and large corporations, invest in technology upgrades that help taxpayers, and hire more customer support staff to prevent backlogs," the Treasury Department said in a statement in August.

Ahead of the Inflation Reduction Act's passage on a party-line vote using budget reconciliation, Democrats defended the roughly $70 billion expenditure for the IRS as a revenue enhancement measure that would help pay for the legislation.

In a Rasmussen Reports poll published on Jan. 17, a solid majority of likely voters queried (56%) supported the House-passed bill that strips the IRS funding from the Inflation Reduction Act.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has criticized the GOP bill, signaling that it will not get a vote any time soon in the Democrat-controlled chamber.

"It is well known that too many wealthy individuals and large corporations — through gaping loopholes — don't pay their fair share of taxes while average Americans often pay a much higher percent," the New York Democrat said after the bill passed in the House. "The thousands of increased IRS personnel are aimed at closing those loopholes and forcing the wealthy and well-connected to finally pay their fair share. It is incredible that the first move House Republicans make this Congress is to cut these agents and allow large corporations and wealthy individuals to continue to avoid paying their fair share of taxes."

Schumer compared the bill's passage to the 2017 tax reform law enacted under former President Trump and a GOP-led Congress.

"Just as they failed in 2017, when Republicans cut taxes on the rich and tried to scare the middle class, this won't work either," he said.

The GOP tax reform cut income tax rates across-the-board and lowered the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%.

The Inflation Reduction Act included a 15% minimum corporate tax rate.

Just the News asked Schumer's office on Friday if he plans to vote on the House-passed IRS bill at some point but did not receive a response before publication.

Chinese students running distribution for drug cartels: former DEA official - Ben Whedon

by Ben Whedon

"So that's enabling the cartels to do more business. Chemicals are coming in, money's flowing, kids are dying. That's a perfect strategic plan for China."

Watch the video

Former Drug Enforcement Agency Special Operations Director Derek Maltz Sr. on Friday outlined the involved of Chinese college students entering the U.S. on student visas in distributing drugs on behalf of various cartels.

Speaking on the "Just the News, No Noise" television show, Maltz highlighted the severity of the crisis, lamenting that "kids are dying left and right."

"The sad part is I've been tracking this for over 10 years as China and their chemical lab operators had been providing synthetic powerful chemicals to our citizens directly at first, and then they decided to divert the chemical, you know, exports into Mexico," he said. "The cartels are operating with impunity; they are destroying our country."

"We've never had in the history of this country, a terrorist organization that's killing this many Americans," he continued. "So yes, we have a very serious crisis now."

"But here's the deal right now, not only the cartels facilitating the distribution of the poison by providing the chemicals, what they're doing is they have the young Chinese students here in America that are meeting with cartels around the country picking up suitcases of cash," he asserted. "The cash is getting turned over to Chinese businessmen in America. They're gambling with this money. But most importantly, they're buying real estate... all over our country."

Chinese land purchases near sensitive national security installations have attracted scrutiny in recent months as tensions mount between Beijing and Washington over myriad issues such as Taiwan and alleged TikTok surveillance.

"So it's the Chinese students that are here that are actually engaging in this activity," Maltz went on. "And they may not know exactly what they're doing, but they're picking up millions of dollars. And then the Chinese are laundering the money, getting the money back to the cartels very efficiently and effectively and timely."

"So that's enabling the cartels to do more business. Chemicals are coming in, money's flowing, kids are dying. That's a perfect strategic plan for China," he concluded.

Molotov Cocktail Hurled at New Jersey Synagogue - Joseph Klein

by Joseph Klein

Welcome to the alarming surge of Jew-hatred in the United States.

In the early morning of January 29th, a man wearing a ski mask ignited a Molotov cocktail and hurled it at the front door of Temple Ner Tamid, a synagogue located in the town of Bloomfield New Jersey. The attacker was dressed in black with a shirt that appeared to have a skull and crossbones design on it as recorded on the synagogue’s surveillance video, according to a report in The Jewish Voice. Fortunately, nobody was hurt, and the Molotov cocktail failed to penetrate the shatter-proof barriers the synagogue had installed over the glass of its doors and windows.

Nicholas Malindretos, a 26-year-old man from a nearby town, was subsequently arrested and federally charged for allegedly committing the attempted arson. Little is known about the suspect except that he is reported to have made a very small contribution to Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential primary campaign.

This incident is yet another in a long line of anti-Semitic attacks against Jews and Jewish places of worship, which have been rising alarmingly in the United States as well as in other parts of the world. According to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), “Antisemitic incidents reached an all-time high in the United States in 2021, with a total of 2,717 incidents of assault, harassment and vandalism reported to ADL.” The ADL added that this was “the highest number of incidents on record since ADL began tracking antisemitic incidents in 1979 – an average of more than seven incidents per day and a 34 percent increase year over year.”

Rabbi Marc Katz, the current rabbi of Temple Ner Tamid, responded to the attack on his synagogue by noting that people “are feeling rightfully worried about the state of anti-Semitism because of how prevalent it has been lately.”

However, regardless of being fully aware of the prevalence of anti-Semitism today, it is no less shocking when an anti-Semitic hate crime hits so close to home, as Rabbi Katz observed. “I don’t think anybody ever expects their congregation is going to be attacked,” Rabbi Katz said.

As a former congregant at Temple Ner Tamid myself, Rabbi Katz’s words resonate with me. I was shocked when I heard the news of the attack. My late wife and I were members of this synagogue for more than ten years. We worshipped there on many Sabbaths and Jewish holidays. Our daughter went to Hebrew School and had her bat mitzvah at Temple Ner Tamid.

Now I live in New York City, which has the largest Jewish population in the world outside of Israel. You would think that there would be safety in such large numbers, but you would be wrong. There were 263 anti-Semitic incidents in New York City during 2022 alone: about one such incident sparked by hatred of Jews every 33 hours. Jewish victims of hate crimes in the city last year exceeded any other group by far.

Rather than prosecute such hate crimes to the fullest extent of the law, Manhattan’s progressive district attorney, Alvin Bragg, recently took the opposite course regarding a defendant who participated in a 2021 physical assault of a Jew. Bragg decided to offer an incredibly lenient plea deal to the defendant who took part in this brutal, unprovoked attack against a Jewish man in Times Square. The victim said that he was punched, kicked and pepper-sprayed during the assault, which required him to be hospitalized. The defendant is reported to have called the victim a “dirty Jew” during the attack and to have afterwards exclaimed that he would “do it again.”

A violent hate crime of this magnitude should mean a considerable number of years of jail time. But Bragg decided instead that a slap on the wrist plea bargain, stipulating a mere six-month jail sentence for this defendant, would be the appropriate punishment.

“It’s high time that the Jewish community mobilizes because what’s happening is that you can beat up a Jew and there are just no consequences,” Brooke Goldstein, founder and executive director of the Lawfare Project and founder of the End Jew Hatred movement, declared. “Now you have the district attorney reaffirming that by giving this sweetheart deal, sending this guy who has no remorse out on the streets to continue to terrorize Jews.”

Anti-Semitism is a virulent disease that has moved in recent years from the fringes of the extreme Left and extreme Right to the mainstream of society. It has become fashionable among some celebrities, at college campuses, in the left-wing media, and in the halls of Congress, for example, to use anti-Zionist, anti-Israel slurs as code words for anti-Semitic rhetoric and to supposedly justify anti-Semitic acts.

Anti-Semitic tropes appear all over social media where they can be shared instantaneously around the world. We have seen anti-Semitism in the guise of anti-Zionism raise its ugly head at the United Nations for decades.

Yet all the enemies who have tried to destroy the Jewish people for more than two millennia have failed. The Jewish community’s religious faith, history, and traditions live on, no matter what the haters try to do to extinguish Judaism’s eternal flame.

The name of my former New Jersey synagogue where the failed arson attack took place, Temple Ner Tamid, literally means the “eternal flame,” which is represented right above a synagogue’s Holy Ark to honor the presence of God.

“There is hate everywhere, and hate wins when we let it penetrate,” Temple Ner Tamid’s Rabbi Katz remarked. “When the weight of this grows too heavy, I remind my congregation that every day, despite what is happening, in Jewish communities around the world, babies are named, children are educated, people are married. Our religious traditions continue. No act of hate can stop the power of religious freedom.”

Amen!

US, Philippines announce new agreement to ramp up military presence amid China-Taiwan tensions - Lawrence Richard

by Lawrence Richard

Austin and Marcos Jr. met at the Camp Aguinaldo military headquarters in Manila, Philippines

The United States intends to ramp up its military presence in the Philippines amid escalating tensions between China and the island of Taiwan, authorities for the U.S. and the Philippines announced Thursday.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Thursday that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has agreed to allow American military troops to be stationed at several bases on the Philippine islands to expand its presence in the region to ensure stability and to increase "interoperability" with regional allies.

Under the agreement, which was announced by the senior leaders at Camp Aguinaldo military headquarters in Manila, Philippines, U.S. forces will be granted access to four more Philippine military camps, giving them areas to provide troops, training and military resources as the countries look to deter an increasingly aggressive China.

During a joint press conference, Marcos commented on the "complicated" situation in the Pacific and said his country was reliant on the strength of the U.S. and the partnership between the two countries to prevent tensions from escalating into a potential military conflict.

It is "something we can only navigate properly with the help our allies and partners," he said.

Austin echoed these remarks, calling the Philippines "a key and an important ally" and said the American global policy was to continue strengthening this relationship in every way possible.

"And so from the defense perspective, we will continue to work together with our great partners to build and modernize your capability as well as increase our interoperability. So we are very, very happy to be here once again, and I look forward to a great discussion," the defense secretary said.

The Philippines and the U.S. also said in a joint statement that "substantial" progress has been made in projects at five Philippine military camps, where U.S. military personnel were earlier granted access by Filipino officials under the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement, or EDCA.

"The EDCA is a key pillar of the US-Philippines alliance, which supports combined training, exercises, and interoperability between our forces," the U.S. and the Philippines said.

The joint statement continued: "The addition of these new EDCA locations will allow more rapid support for humanitarian and climate-related disasters in the Philippines, and respond to other shared challenges."

"The Philippine-US alliance has stood the test of time and remains ironclad," they added. "We look forward to the opportunities these new sites will create to expand our cooperation together."

Additional details concerning the location and size of additional Philippine camps where U.S. forces would be allowed to construct barracks, warehouses and hangars were not provided.

Austin noted the U.S. was not seeking a "permanent" presence at the bases.

Marcos Jr., who took office in June, has negotiated regional deterrence with leaders of Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan as China continues military operations in the Pacific.

China has also domineered waterways amid territorial disputes over the busy and resource-rich South China Sea.

Washington maintains no official claim over disputes in the South China Sea but has said it would defend against potential attacks on regional allies. President Biden said the U.S. would send troops to defend Taiwan, should China invade the semi-autonomous region, though the White House later refuted this statement.

The U.S. and most of the world recognize the One China Policy, which says Taiwan is not a country or independent of China. Instead, the policy says the democratic region falls exclusively under Chinese governance.

Washington has deployed warships and surveillance aircraft for patrols in the region, which it says is to promote freedom of navigation and the rule of law, which has infuriated Beijing.

Some protesters were seen in the streets outside the Austin-Marcos meeting. Several signs called for the removal of U.S. troops.

The Philippines is the U.S.’s oldest treaty ally in Asia and used to host two of the largest U.S. Navy and Air Force bases outside the American mainland. The bases were shut down in the early 1990s.

The Philippine Constitution prohibits the permanent basing of foreign troops but the EDCA defense pact allows visiting American forces to indefinitely stay in rotating batches within designated Philippine camps. The agreement makes allowances for defense equipment but does not allow nuclear weapons.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
