Garland, Schiff may be summoned for testimony over leaked intel: House Judiciary Chairman - Charlotte Hazard

Jordan said the American people deserve to know the truth regarding the leaked intelligence.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said Tuesday that he put former top Obama administration official, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., on notice that they may have to testify about leaked intelligence related to Russiagate.

"Yeah, I would like to probably talk to the individual who did the 302," Jordan said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show when asked if Garland and Schiff should testify. "I assume there's a 302 done. We just got this information. We're just digging through it."

A 302 is a report form that FBI agents use to summarize witness interviews.

An intelligence officer who worked for Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee for more than a decade repeatedly warned the FBI beginning in 2017 that then-Rep. Adam Schiff approved leaking classified information to smear then-President Donald Trump over the now-debunked Russiagate scandal, according to an FBI memo first reported on by Just the News.

The FBI 302 interview reports obtained by Just the News state the intelligence staffer — a Democrat by party affiliation who described himself as a friend to both Schiff, now a California senator, and former Republican House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes — considered the classified leaking to be "unethical," "illegal," and “treasonous,” but was told not to worry about it because Schiff believed he would be spared prosecution under the Constitution's speech and debate clause.

No publicly-disclosed opinion from the attorney general or the solicitor general can be found making that determination as a matter of law. Officials told Just the News that DOJ officials showed little interest in pursuing Schiff when the allegations were brought to them years ago.

"In my mind, I always say everything's on the table," Jordan said. "The American people deserve the truth. People who did real wrongdoing should be held accountable. So we'll evaluate all that."

Jordan said that former FBI Director Chris Wray likely had this information about Schiff and didn't say anything about it to Congress.

"We didn't get this information from Chris Wray," he said. "We got it from Kash Patel, who was actually trying to get the truth out to the American people. For some reason, this was never given to us by Director Wray."

Jordan said they will likely be consulting lawyers to figure out how to handle the intelligence going forward. "I think the first step is for us to consult with our lawyers on House Counsel...right on speech and debate [and] how that would apply, and with the facts of this situation here," he said.

Jordan praised past whistleblowers for coming forward with information and said he hoped the whistleblower who leaked the current story wouldn't get as much scrutiny as whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler.

"The retaliation that they've experienced was as wrong as it gets," he said. "Let's hope this doesn't happen to this whistleblower in the broader sense."
