Legal backbone strengthens science and society - Anthony J. Sadar

The Republican attorneys general showed much needed backbone countering the Democratic A.G.s recently on climate change science issues.

The Democratic Party's continued intimidation politics being waged against perspective on the globe's climate future is truly pathetic.  Unfortunately, lawyers, politicians, and especially party-loyal attorneys have a tendency to fight for causes that necessitate ignoring, downplaying, or in the worst cases ridiculing authentic scientific practice.

Perspective, objectivity, and impermanence are top drivers in scientific progress.  Science becomes stymied without a wide perspective engaged in an objective evaluation of climate conditions and an understanding that the evaluation is tentative, subject to additional information.

For instance, since actual global temperature trends have not sufficiently matched climate model projected trends, thinking on key model input variables needs to change, perhaps dramatically.  So qualified atmospheric scientists who challenge the current mindset should be given more credence rather than ridiculed or threatened.

In the interim, the Democratic tactics serve as a diversion of attention away from serious and immediate societal threats like an anemic economy burdened by robust Islamic terrorism.
