Justice Department submitted redacted affidavit by judge's noon deadline

Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart on Thursday ordered the Justice Department to release a redacted version of the affidavit that accompanied the search warrant the FBI used to search former President Trump's Florida estate.

Reinhart indicated he was satisfied with redactions the DOJ made due to security concerns with the document's public release.

“I find that the Government has met its burden of showing a compelling reason/good cause to seal portions of the Affidavit,” Reinhardt wrote, according to The Hill. The judge acknowledged the potential for a fully unredacted version to compromise the ongoing investigation by revealing crucial information.

The DOJ has until noon on Friday to release the redacted affidavit.

This is a developing story ...

The department met its court-imposed deadline to submit a redacted affidavit that allowed FBI agents to raid former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, according to several news reports.

The deadline was for noon.

The move comes after major media outlets last week asked U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart to publicly release the affidavit used to justify the FBI's unprecedented raid.
