Biden’s Illegal Immigration Pandemic - Joseph Klein

 by Joseph Klein

No vaccine or TSA photo ID required for illegal immigrants.

President Biden has repeatedly said that there is a COVID-19 pandemic of the unvaccinated. If Biden truly believes what he is saying, then why is his administration allowing so many illegal immigrants to enter and stay in the United States without at least checking for proof of vaccination, as required by U.S. immigration law? The answer is that Biden will say and do anything to placate his leftwing progressive base. He is turning the United States into a sanctuary country for many illegal immigrants.

The Biden administration is not only allowing unvaccinated illegal immigrants to remain in the country. These open border social justice warriors have also exempted many illegal immigrants from the Transportation Security Agency's (TSA) government photo ID rules for commercial airline travel. American citizens and legal residents have to show TSA a government-issued photo ID such as a valid passport to board a commercial aircraft, but illegal immigrants get to skip this anti-terrorist security precaution.

It has been just recently reported that illegal immigrants can even use a 'Warrant for Arrest of Alien' or a 'Warrant of Removal/Deportation' as their form of identification. The only airplanes that illegal immigrants with these IDs should be able to board are the planes taking them back to their home countries.

"We are abandoning every single security norm we learned after 9/11 just to move illegal aliens through the country," said Mark Morgan, the acting commissioner of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency under former President Donald Trump. Mr. Morgan had previously served as chief of U.S. Border Patrol and acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement under former President Barack Obama.

That’s not all. The Biden administration stopped using Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” program but had to restore this successful program under court order. In response, the Biden administration is planning to provide taxpayer funded legal assistance to some affected illegal immigrants. This additional lure for more illegal immigrants to come to the United States even has a name - Legal Access at the Border (LAB).

“The plan notably includes migrants placed in the re-implemented 'Remain in Mexico' policy, formally named the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP),” Axios reported. “It will be for migrants attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, those in Border Patrol custody, in the MPP program or who may be enrolled in MPP or otherwise placed in deportation proceedings,” the Axios report added, referencing published documents available on an official government website.

Moreover, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced on January 20th a decision during his remarks to the U.S. Conference of Mayors that will delight Democrat mayors of sanctuary cities. “Unlawful presence in the United States will alone not be a basis for an immigration enforcement action,” Mayorkas said. “And it is not just a matter of the appropriate allocation of limited resources but it is a matter of justice and fairness and equity as well.”

The Biden administration considers “justice and fairness and equity” for illegal immigrants to mean not only refusing to fully enforce the country’s immigration laws but also providing taxpayer funded legal assistance to the lawbreakers.

Since the beginning of the 2022 fiscal year, which runs from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022, there have been 518,360 reported Southwest land border encounters. Single adults constituted 65.48 percent of these encounters with illegal immigrants.

In fiscal year 2021, there were 1,734,686 enforcement encounters – an historically high figure. Single adults constituted 63.75 percent of these encounters.

We have no accurate numbers regarding how many of these illegal immigrants have settled in communities across the country, not to mention how many are infected with the coronavirus.

CBS reported last December that only “a small percentage of the hundreds of thousands of migrants processed by the U.S. [in 2021] have received COVID-19 vaccinations while in federal custody, and half of them are unaccompanied children, according to unpublished government data obtained by CBS News.”

Even if any of the illegal aliens released from detention by the Biden administration had carried with them so-called “documentation” of a vaccination from their country of origin or transit, it would almost certainly have been fake.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reportedly provided at least one shot of the vaccine to more than 44,000 immigrants in its custody, not all of whom were necessarily the recent entrants detained by border agents. “At least 21,970 immigrants detained by ICE have declined to be vaccinated, the statistics show,” according to the CBS report. Were they deported immediately? Almost certainly not.

CBS further reported that “46,480 migrant children have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while in the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement.” To put this into perspective, there were 146,925 reported encounters with unaccompanied minors in fiscal year 2021.

In its January 3, 2022 report, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency claimed that “Most people encountered at the border (62 percent) were expelled under the Title 42 authority to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).”

In the same report, however, the agency admitted that there was “high recidivism rates (repeat encounters) among individuals processed under the CDC’s Title 42 public health authorities.”

Even if the agency’s 62 percent expulsion number is accurate, that would still leave nearly 660,000 illegal immigrants encountered during the 2021 fiscal year presumably remaining in the country. And nearly 200,000 illegal immigrants encountered during the 2022 fiscal year so far would also presumably still be in the country.

Moreover, we don’t really know how many of the 62 percent of people encountered at the border who were reportedly expelled from the United States for emergency health reasons managed to slip back into the country. They could well have been among those additional illegal immigrants who entered through the Biden administration’s open border and got away undetected, with no way to trace their whereabouts or vaccination status. The Hill reported in late October 2021 that the number of these individuals, referred to as “got aways,” were averaging about 1000 per day.

While there was some testing for the coronavirus before detained illegal immigrants were transferred to ICE or Health and Human Services facilities, it is unclear how many illegal immigrants overall have been tested. Moreover, without a careful tracking and enforcement system in place, it is highly unlikely that the illegal immigrants who were tested once or twice during detention have continued to be regularly tested after their release, let alone vaccinated.

In short, thanks to President Biden’s open border policies, there is an illegal immigration pandemic that he has let loose in the United States. Many of the illegal immigrants who have been admitted into the country and then released on Biden’s watch are also likely contributing to Biden’s self-declared “pandemic of the unvaccinated.” At the same time, they will be eligible to receive taxpayer funded legal assistance and are able to board planes without standard government-provided photo IDs, courtesy of the Biden administration.

In one short year, President Biden’s lax open border immigration policies have turned the United States into a huge magnet for illegal immigrants. And they keep coming and coming with no end in sight.
