IDF confirms targeted strike in Beirut's Dahieh area, parallel to additional strikes deep in Lebanese territory, eliminated Ibrahim Qubaisi, the head of Hezbollah's missile unit.
The IDF on Tuesday afternoon confirmed that it carried out a targeted strike in the Dahiyeh area of Beirut, Lebanon, parallel to the waves of strikes deep in Lebanon.
According to reports in Lebanon, the target of the attack was Ibrahim Qubaisi, a senior Hezbollah commander and the head of its rocket and missile division. In addition, the strike was carried out using a UAV.
A six-story building was struck, destroying three of the building's floors, according to Lebanese media. There are reports of casualties and fatalities.
The IDF confirmed that Qubaisi was eliminated about two hours following the strike.
"The IDF announces that today (Tuesday), September 24, 2024, with the direction of precise IDF intelligence, the IAF struck in the area of Dahieh in Beirut and eliminated the terrorist Ibrahim Muhammad Qabisi, Commander of the Missiles and Rockets Force of the Hezbollah terrorist organization. Qabisi was struck alongside additional central commanders in Hezbollah's Missiles and Rockets Force," the IDF stated,
"Qabisi commanded several missile units within the Hezbollah terrorist organization, including the Precision Guided Missile Unit. Over the years and during the war, he was responsible for launching missiles toward the Israeli civilians.
"Qabisi was a significant source of knowledge in the field of missiles and had close ties to senior military leaders in Hezbollah.
"Ibrahim Muhammad Qabisi joined Hezbollah in the 1980s and has since held several significant military roles within the terrorist organization, including as a senior officer in Hezbollah's Operations Unit in southern Lebanon and commanding the Badr Unit on Hezbollah’s Southern Front. In these roles, he was responsible for planning and executing numerous terror attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers," the IDF stated.
