Her ascent in the primary field comes as democratic socialists increasingly gain prominence in the Democratic Party.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., currently stands at the top of the pack for the Democratic Party nomination in a key primary state, a recent survey has revealed.

Overall, AOC took 22% support in a recent Granite State poll. Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg placed second with 21%, while Sen. Mark Kelly, R-Ariz., took 9% and Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., took 8%.

New Hampshire is one of the first states in the primary process and an early victory for the New York lawmaker could catapult her to success in the wider contest for the party nomination.
