"I call on all nations to join us in enforcing the complete economic isolation of Iran until they stop their attacks on commercial shipping, relinquish their nuclear ambitions, and cease their support of terror," he said.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday addressed the United Nations General Assembly in a speech that saw him defend the Iran war and call for global support to pressure Tehran to the negotiating table.
"After giving Iran every chance for a deal, I took action to ensure that neither the United States nor any nation in this whole would ever have to face such a nightmare, such a catastrophic problem," he said, before touting the successes of the campaign.
"Yet even after we agreed to a ceasefire for nuclear discussions, Iran promptly violated it with brazen acts of terrorism against civilian ships from other countries," he went on. "I want to thank the UN Security Council for voting overwhelmingly to pass a resolution condemning Iran's despicable terrorist attacks on commercial shipping ... That's something. Now we must be equally united in maintaining pressure."
"I call on all nations to join us in enforcing the complete economic isolation of Iran until they stop their attacks on commercial shipping, relinquish their nuclear ambitions, and cease their support of terror," he said.
Trump also opined that Iran was waiting until after the midterms to reach an agreement with the U.S. and that he expected a deal to materialize after the elections. He also took the opportunity to deny that the U.S. was running low on munitions.
