Why does BBC‏ ‏promote my daughter’s murderer? - Arnold Roth

 by Arnold Roth

Terrorist murderer Tamimi was sentenced to 16 life sentences, but was released after ‎only 10 years as part of the Shalit prisoner exchange deal between the Israeli ‎government and Hamas.

In August 2001, Ahlam Tamimi brought a guitar case filled with explosives to the ‎Sbarro Pizza shop in Jerusalem. She handed it to a suicide terrorist who detonated it in ‎the pizzeria, murdering 15 people, 8 of them children. Asked about the families and ‎children she murdered, Tamimi answered she had “no regrets.” When told that she ‎murdered 8 children she broke into a big smile. ‎

Tamimi is the unrepentant child murderer who BBC Arabic TV chose to help last week ‎by broadcasting her appeal to the King of Jordan to help her reunite with her husband. ‎A Jordanian radio station had abruptly cut her off, refusing to let her deliver her ‎message.‎

As soon as he discovered this BBC broadcast, Arnold Roth, whose 15-year-old ‎daughter Malki was one of the children murdered by Tamimi at Sbarro, called ‎Palestinian Media Watch. He wanted to alert us to how the BBC’s Arabic-language TV ‎channel had willingly served as mouthpiece for the terrorist responsible for the killing ‎of his daughter.‎

Terrorist murderer Tamimi was sentenced to 16 life sentences, but was released after ‎only 10 years as part of the Shalit prisoner exchange deal between the Israeli ‎government and Hamas. (See below.)‎

BBC’s service to a convicted murderer illustrates how major powers in the news ‎industry abuse their influence and support terror and terrorists. ‎

PMW invited Mr. Roth to write today’s bulletin:‎

‎- - -‎

The life of my daughter’s killer has an incredible trajectory. I wonder whether anything ‎like it has ever been seen before.‎

Ahlam Aref Ahmad Al-Tamimi is a Jordanian by birth and education. In the short period ‎that she lived in the Palestinian Authority areas, she was a university student and a ‎part-time news-reader for an Islamist television station in Ramallah. ‎

Simultaneously, she became active in Fatah and then crossed over to Hamas. She boasts that she was the first woman admitted to Hamas’ Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, which is responsible for the murder of hundreds in suicide bombings. And ‎she immediately set about finding opportunities to kill Jews.‎

The first one ended in failure. She left a beer can filled with explosives in a ‎supermarket in the center of Jerusalem in July 2001. Something went wrong and the ‎only injuries were to her ambition and pride (though she subsequently lied, boasting in ‎TV interviews that she caused a massacre that “the Zionists” covered up). ‎

She demanded of her operators a second chance to kill with a much larger explosive ‎and on Aug. 9, 2001, less than two weeks later, Hamas provided her with both. She ‎was 21 years old. The terror attack she orchestrated murdered 15, including 8 children, ‎one of them my daughter Malki. ‎

Fast forward to last week’s BBC broadcast. ‎

On Oct. 8, 2020, a program called “Trending” on BBC’s Arabic TV service beamed ‎throughout the world an item about Tamimi for the purpose of creating sympathy for the ‎child murderer. They told the oh-so-sad tale of how her husband Nizar Tamimi - who is ‎also a released terrorist - had been forced by Jordanian authorities to leave Jordan for ‎Qatar on Oct 1. ‎

The program is part of BBC World Service programming funded by the UK’s Foreign ‎and Commonwealth Office.‎

The BBC host told viewers that Tamimi is “back” in the headlines, skipped or twisted ‎the important background details about Tamimi’s murderous terror, and then described ‎how she phoned in to a popular Amman-based radio station and tried to appeal directly ‎to King Abdullah II to intervene and return her husband to Jordan. ‎

As the Arabic-to-English transcript below shows, this was illustrated by video clips ‎showing what happened in the studio of the radio station and then some soft-focus ‎images from Tamimi’s life.‎

It’s an outrageous piece of naked agitprop - political propaganda. Here are some of the ‎points BBC’s “Trending” skipped, distorted, or simply got wrong:

  • None of the murdered victims of Tamimi’s terror attack were mentioned directly ‎or indirectly in the BBC report. Nor did they say she killed anyone. The BBC’s ‎editors airbrushed the victims out of this shabby narrative.‎
  • The BBC says Ahlam Tamimi was “accused” of taking a role in the Sbarro terror ‎attack, implying doubt, and was sentenced to 16 life sentences. In reality, ‎Tamimi stopped being “accused” when she boastfully pleaded guilty to all the ‎charges brought against her in an Israeli court. But BBC hid this from its Arabic ‎speaking viewers. ‎
  • Tamimi has gloated in public and repeatedly boasted of what she did. She has ‎called the massacre “my operation” and since she chose the site, brought the ‎terrorist and the explosives – it is clearly her murderous “operation.” When asked ‎about the families and children she murdered she said in front of the cameras ‎that she has “no regrets” and she would do it again if she could. She has left no ‎doubt as to what motivates her in life.‎
  • Why 16 consecutive life terms? For the 15 lives Tamimi snuffed out by ‎delivering a human bomb to a pizza shop that she chose because of the ‎children who could reliably be found there at 2 in the afternoon on a school ‎vacation day. A 16th life belonged to a young mother who brought her two-year ‎old child into the pizzeria – and who remains in a vegetative coma today. Not ‎dead but surely not alive. ‎
  • After her premature release from Israeli prison, Tamimi hosted a weekly TV show ‎of her own for nearly five years, between February 2012 and September 2016, ‎filmed in Jordan and produced by Hamas and Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood. ‎Though Jordan has a notoriously unfree media, Tamimi’s program had the full ‎knowledge and approval of Jordan’s government. Distributed globally “Breezes ‎of the Free” (Nasim Al-Ahrar) advocated for support of Palestinian Arab terrorist ‎prisoners, many of them murderers like Tamimi. ‎

In taking up child-murderer Tamimi’s cause, BBC is picking up the baton from Hamas ‎TV. ‎

If the BBC comes through this latest scandalous chapter unscathed, there will be many ‎losers. For giving a sympathetic megaphone to one of the world’s most loathsome, ‎unrepentant child murderers, the BBC must be brought to account. The power of its ‎brand, its high operating budget, and its smooth-talking self-justification may make this ‎hard to accomplish. However, the public cannot remain apathetic or BBC will continue ‎to feel free to glorify murderers of Israelis and Jews at will.‎

Together with PMW, and in the name of our murdered child, my wife and I call on BBC ‎management to review what has just happened, to internalize the lessons of its terror ‎glorification. BBC must immediately remove the videos from YouTube, and issue a ‎sincere public apology to the families of Tamimi’s victims whose memories BBC has ‎desecrated by promoting their murderer. ‎

Seeking Justice for the terror victims:‎

Ahlam Tamimi is also a fugitive from US justice, one of 28 people and only two women ‎on the FBI’s “Most Wanted Terrorists” list, since 2017.‎

My wife and I have devoted years to generating greater awareness of the screaming ‎injustice that this murderer’s freedom embodies, together with the backing she gets in ‎the Arab world. ‎

This doesn’t go easily and there is considerable push-back. But while the outcome of ‎our campaign to have Tamimi extradited is far from certain, we have seen progress. But ‎no one can deny the obstructive role played by parts of the media, like this BBC ‎program that provide this monstrous woman with the oxygen – public attention, ‎sympathy, and support – that is vital to her mission of staying free and inciting more ‎terror.‎

If powerful media voices like the BBC would join the campaign to have this child-‎murderer spend the rest of her life in prison, achieving justice will be easier. We will ‎keep trying. Our goal is to see justice done and the toxic influence of Tamimi blunted, ‎this charismatic force for evil in the world. If we succeed, there will be many winners.‎

  • In 2018, the US State Department announced a $5 million prize under its ‎‎“Rewards for Justice” program for information leading to Tamimi’s arrest or ‎conviction. But she has never been in hiding, not even for a day. She doesn’t ‎need to be because the Kingdom of Jordan is quietly and effectively keeping ‎her free and safe.‎
  • The US is serious about wanting Tamimi to stand trial on Federal terrorism ‎charges in Washington. It has repeatedly but unsuccessfully pressed Jordan to ‎honor the Extradition Treaty signed between the Clinton Administration and the ‎current king’s father, King Hussein. Jordan’s government has handed over a ‎succession of Jordanian fugitive terrorists to the US under that treaty, but not ‎Tamimi. The BBC is not alone in knowing these facts and suppressing them. ‎
  • The BBC should have known this and told its viewers what informed observers ‎understand: A Tamimi extradition is hard for Jordan because she is so popular. ‎Those dead Jewish children count for a lot in Jordanian public opinion.
  • A popular Jordanian TV program called Caravan paid lavish tribute to both ‎Tamimis two years ago in a prime time show similar to “This is Your Life”. At a ‎certain point, the presenter (as I wrote in an article at the time) could barely ‎restrain her enthusiasm for the details of their murderous achievements:  "This ‎is admirable!” she said. “You, the people of the struggle, elevate the name of ‎Jordan!" ‎

We additionally call on BBC to counter the damage it has done by supporting a ‎terrorist, by using the force of its international media presence, to raise the call to ‎demand that Jordan take the moral step of extraditing the murderer to the US to stand ‎trial for murder. BBC should counter the platform they gave to the terrorist, by inviting ‎family members of the victims into their studios to raise the call for justice. It is the least ‎BBC could do now – after raising the voice of terror to the international media. ‎

Ahlam Tamimi - Palestinian female terrorist who led suicide bomber Izz Al-Din Al-Masri to the Sbarro pizza shop in Jerusalem where he murdered 15 people, 7 of them children, and wounded 130 on Aug. 9, 2001. Tamimi has explained that she chose Sbarro because she expected it to be full, and she expressed disappointment at initial reports indicating few victims: "They said...there had been a Martyrdom attack at the Sbarro restaurant, and that 3 people were killed... I was a bit disappointed, because I had hoped for a larger toll." Tamimi was sentenced to 16 life sentences, but was released in October 2011 as part of the Shalit prisoner exchange deal between the Israeli government and Hamas. In that deal, Israel released 1,027 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who had been held hostage by Hamas for more than 5 years.

Gilad Shalit was an Israeli soldier who was kidnapped and held hostage by Hamas for more than 5 years. During that time, he was denied visits from the International Committee of the Red Cross and was not allowed communication with his family, in violation of his rights under the Geneva Convention. Numerous human rights organizations criticized Hamas for confining Shalit under conditions that were contrary to international humanitarian law. In October 2011, the Israeli government agreed to release 1,027 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prison in exchange for Shalit.

The following is more of the transcript promoting Ahlam Tamimi on BBC Arabic ‎

Obamacare's costs soar so high, Americans now delaying medical treatment —study - Monica Showalter

 by Monica Showalter

So much for the Democrat battle cry that Amy Coney Barrett is coming for your health care.

Democrats can't character-assault Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett the way they did Brett Kavanaugh, so they're screaming bloody murder that Barrett will kill millions of Americans in the event she rules against Obamacare.

According to Rich Lowry, writing in the New York Post:

Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin says that this is her "assignment." Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse from Rhode Island says that she is a "judicial torpedo" aimed at the Affordable Care Act.

She's coming to take something away from you.

This is total garbage.  It comes as a study rolls out showing that Obamacare itself is killing off millions.

Matt Margolis at PJMedia found this ugly little detail about this government health care takeover that Democrats confuse with actual health care:

According to a Gallup survey from December 2019, 33 percent of Americans say they or a family member put off treatment for a health condition because of the costs.

This number has remained virtually unchanged since Obamacare was passed. In fact, the number has averaged about 30 percent since 2006, which is significantly higher than it was back in 2001, when only 19 percent of Americans said they or a family member put off treatment for a health condition because of the cost.

He also tweets this:

The sorry reality of Obamacare is not only do you not get to keep your doctor, but your health care costs go through the roof.  No subsidy can fix this so long as no free market exists.  Leftists pile up mandate upon mandate to each and every insurance policy sold, and the only way to pay for such things is to keep raising premiums, which are generally minimal with price controls, and let deductibles go through the roof.

These days, millions of Americans not only face zero choice in which health care plans they can have, but also face skyrocketing deductibles, making the payment of the rent-sized premiums an insult of sorts, given that they still have to shell out thousands more for the privilege of paying those huge premiums.  It's as though the premiums go for bureaucrat overhead (check out some of the king-sized salaries of some of these health care bureaucrats), and the deductibles pay for the actual care.

As it's a system whose costs never go down and instead every year go up, it's ultimately unsustainable as millions of people have no choice but to drop out.  Every delayed treatment means less treatment, less health care, less health, and more deaths, all done in the name of preserving Obamacare and President Obama's signature legacy.  It's now a joke, yet Democrats call for its preservation at any cost now.

Fact is, Obamacare's deductibles are killing people.  Any judge who'd get rid of that is owed a nation's full gratitude.

Lebanon names team for maritime border talks with Israel - AP and ILH Staff

Talks are scheduled to begin Wednesday at the headquarters of the UN peacekeeping force in the southern Lebanese border town of Naqoura.

Lebanon announced on Monday the names of its delegation that will hold indirect talks later this week with Israel over the disputed maritime border between the two countries.

The announcement by President Michel Aoun's office comes two weeks after Lebanon and Israel reached an agreement on a framework for the US-mediated talks. The talks are scheduled to begin Wednesday at the headquarters of the UN peacekeeping force in the southern Lebanese border town of Naqoura.

Israel and Lebanon have no diplomatic relations and are technically in a state of war. They each claim about 860 square kilometers (330 square miles) of the Mediterranean Sea as within their own exclusive economic zones.

Aoun's office said the four-member Lebanese delegation will be headed by air force Brig. Gen. Bassam Yassin. The three other members are navy Col. Mazen Basbous, Lebanese oil official Wissam Chbat and border expert Najib Massihi.

Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz will lead the Israeli delegation, according to Israeli officials.

Lebanese officials have made sure to send a team of experts to show that this week's talks with Israel are purely technical and don't mean any kind of normalization between the two countries.

The Lebanon-based terrorist group Hezbollah said last week that the talks don't mean reconciliation with Israel. A statement by Hezbollah's bloc in parliament said last week that defining the border of "national sovereignty" is the job of the Lebanese state.

The talks will see the Lebanese delegation speaking through UN and US officials to the Israelis.

US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker, the top American diplomat for the Middle East, will be in Lebanon ahead of the talks to attend the opening session, the State Department said.

It added that Schenker will be joined by Ambassador John Desrocher, who will serve as the US mediator for these negotiations.

The agreement to commence discussions on the maritime boundary "is a vital step forward that offers the potential to yield greater stability, security, and prosperity for Lebanese and Israeli citizens alike," the State Department said in its statement Monday.

The talks come as Lebanon is passing through the worst economic and financial crisis in its modern history. Beirut hopes that oil and gas discoveries in its territorial waters will help it come out of the crisis.

Lebanon began offshore drilling earlier this year and is expected to start drilling for gas in the disputed area with Israel in the coming months.

Lebanon and Israel hold monthly tripartite indirect meetings in Naqoura to discuss violations along their border. The countries also held indirect negotiations in the 1990s when Arab states and Israel were working on reaching peace agreements. Although the Palestinians and Jordan signed agreements with Israel, Lebanon and Syria did not.

6,500-year-old copper workshop shows ancient Beersheba was a hub for cutting-edge tech - ILH Staff

 by ILH Staff

The furnace used to process copper purchased from present-day Jordan may have been a local invention, but even if the technology was imported, Beersheba played an "important role in the global metal revolution," says Professor Erez Ben-Yosef of Tel Aviv University.

6,500-year-old copper workshop shows ancient Beersheba was a hub for cutting-edge tech

An ancient copper-smelting workshop once operated in what is now the Neveh Noy neighborhood of Beersheba, new research from Tel Aviv University and the Israel Antiquities Authority published in the Journal of Archaeological Science reveals.

The research, which began in 2017 when the IAA conducted a salvation dig to save antiquities that were under threat, indicates that the site might have been the first in the world to use a furnace.

Archaeologist Talia Abulafia, who led the excavation for the IAA, said that it had turned up evidence of "domestic production from the Chalcolithic period, about 6,500 years ago. The surprising finds include a small workshop for smelting copper with shards of a furnace – a small installation made of tin in which copper ore was smelted – as well as a lot of copper slag."

The Chalcolithic period (the word is made up of the Greek words for "copper" and "stone") is so named because although metalworking was already in evidence, the tools used were still made of stone. At the Neveh Noy site, an analysis of the isotopes of ore remnants in the furnace shards show that the raw ore was brought to the workshop from Wadi Faynan, located in present-day Jordan, more than 100 km. (62 miles) away.

The furnace may have been a local invention.

"At the first stage of humankind's copper production, crucibles rather than furnaces were used," said Prof. Erez Ben-Yosef of the Department of Archaeology and Ancient Near East Civilizations at TAU.

Ben-Yosef noted that the Neveh Noy dig had unearned evidence that the technology was furnace-based, which raises the possibility that the furnace was invented in this region. Howeve, he noted, it might have been invented elsewhere.

Still, he explained, there is "no doubt" that ancient Beersheba played an important role in advancing the global metal revolution and "that in the fifth millennium BCE the city was a technological powerhouse for this whole region."

"It's important to understand that the refining of copper was the high-tech of that period. There was no technology more sophisticated than that in the whole of the ancient world," Ben-Yosef explained.

"Tossing lumps of ore into a fire will get you nowhere. You need certain knowledge for building special furnaces that can reach very high temperatures while maintaining low levels of oxygen," Ben-Yosef said.

According to the researcher, the people who lived near the copper mines traded with members of the Ghassulian culture from Beersheba and sold them the ore, although they did not have the capability to process it themselves. Even among the Ghassulian settlements, copper was refined by experts in special workshops. Moreover, a chemical analysis of remnants indicates that every workshop had its own special "recipe," which it did not share with its competitors.

In addition to Ben-Yosef and Abulafia, partners in  the study include Dana Ackerfeld and Omri Yagel of the Jacob M. Alkow Department of Archeology and Ancient Near Eastern Civilizations at Tel Aviv University and Dr. Yael Abadi-Reiss, and Dmitry Yegorov of the Israel Antiquities Authority, as well as Dr. Yehudit Harlavan of the Geological Survey of Israel.

When Peace Threatens the Peace NGO Industry - Yona Schiffmiller

 by Yona Schiffmiller

For many NGOs, the new Abraham Accords are not an opportunity to celebrate peace, mutual recognition and dialogue, but a catastrophe threatening their core business.

The industry of human rights non-governmental organizations cannot stand the diplomatic breakthroughs between Israel, the UAE and Bahrain. For many NGOs, the new Abraham Accords are not an opportunity to celebrate peace, mutual recognition and dialogue, but a catastrophe threatening their core business.

More importantly, the deals represent a repudiation of the NGOs' core ideology and worldview—one that privileges Palestinian myths and victimization above all other considerations.

Human Rights Watch executive director Ken Roth condescendingly dismissed the arrival of an official Israeli-U.S. delegation in the UAE: "All the kvelling about the Israeli-UAE flight does nothing to change the oppressive, discriminatory 'one-state reality' for occupied Palestinians. Only equal rights will do that."

Amnesty International similarly greeted the announcement of the Israel-UAE accord with "No diplomatic deal can change the legal obligations of Israel as the occupying power under international humanitarian law and international human rights law, nor deprive Palestinians of their rights and protections guaranteed under international law."

Radical American and Palestinian NGOs have similarly denounced the deals. Even the reported freeze of Israeli plans to annex parts of the West Bank was cynically cast aside by the NGOs and deemed insufficient to garner a positive response.

Ken Roth

These powerful NGOs spend tens of millions of dollars annually to influence diplomats, journalists and other shapers of public opinion by claiming to promote human rights, international law and peace. On this basis, NGO officials get privileged access to the UN, the European Parliament and the International Criminal Court.

Such NGOs might be expected to praise the accords for expanding the principle of peaceful conflict resolution; even if the agreements do not solve all of the region's problems, they are undoubtedly positive steps. The condemnations the groups issued instead reveal the extreme ideology and narrow self-interest that propel them. According to their strategy, there is no inherent value in dialogue or mutual respect between Israel and the Arab states.

Instead, in their view, recognition of and relations with Israel should be held hostage and exchanged only for maximalist Palestinian demands.

To the NGOs, short of reaching their preferred "solution" to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Arab world should not treat Israel normally. It should not be afforded diplomatic recognition, and its (Jewish) citizens should be barred from engaging in business relationships and cultural exchanges. Good will between Israelis and Arabs is not, for them, a reassuring sign of lowered tensions. Unsurprisingly, these NGOs also advance the BDS agenda to isolate Israel from global business, finance and culture.

Moreover, as indicated above, international NGOs have turned the Israeli-Palestinian conflict into a fundraising cash cow and seek to protect their vital financial interests. The fact that Abu Dhabi and Manama are no longer willing to acquiesce to Palestinian obstructionism challenges their business model. Peace NGOs stand to lose from the perception that ending Israeli-Palestinian discord is not actually the key to Arab-Israeli peace.

If more Arab countries recognize the Jewish state, then the Palestinian issue takes a back seat to more pressing international conflicts and developments. The recent moves by the UAE and Bahrain remind international observers—and donors—that territorial disputes between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea need not be the main source of regional turmoil. Despite decades of headlines equating "Middle East peace" with Israeli-Palestinian relations, this conflict is dwarfed in intensity by numerous others throughout the region and the world.

The UAE and Bahrain broke a decades-long paradigm governing Arab-Israeli relations. The cautionary tale for both Palestinian leadership and the NGO industry is that ideological inflexibility and entrenchment erodes their relevance in favor of fundamentally more important interests.

They would do well to reevaluate their strategy so as to avoid obsolescence.

Trump to Iran: “Do Not F**k Around with Us” - Robert Spencer

 by Robert Spencer

After Obama gave them billions, it’s easy to see why the Mullahs think America is a pushover.

Iran, said President Trump on the Rush Limbaugh show on Friday, has been “put on notice.” The President elaborated: “If you f--k around with us, if you do something bad to us, we are gonna do things to you that have never been done before.” Amid all the pearl-clutching on the Left over the President’s language (as if any Leftist politician speaksdemurely by comparison), the point has been lost that Trump’s tough stance toward the Islamic Republic of Iran has been effective in a way that Obama’s billions never were.

Back in April, for example, Trump tweeted: “I have instructed the United States Navy to shoot down and destroy any and all Iranian gunboats if they harass our ships at sea.” This came after, according to Business Insider, “nearly a dozen Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy vessels sailed out Wednesday to harass a collection of US Navy and Coast Guard vessels conducting operations in international waters.”

The U.S. Navy stated that eleven Iranian boats of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Navy (IRGCN) “conducted dangerous and harassing approaches,” and added that “the IRGCN’s dangerous and provocative actions increased the risk of miscalculation and collision.” The Iranians, said the Navy statement, were violating the “rules of the road.”

But then came Trump’s threat, and lo and behold, the Iranian harassment of American ships ended. Trump has demonstrated again and again that being strong with Iran, instead of pursuing appeasement as Obama did, works. As Obama (who stopped Israel from going after Quds Force commander Qasim Soleimani) concluded his notorious nuclear deal with Iran, Iranian political analyst Ali Wambold pointed out that the Constitution of the Islamic Republic “proclaims ‘the ideological mission of jihad,’ which it defines as ‘extending the sovereignty of God’s law throughout the world,’ through Iran’s Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.” Thus, he said, “to treat with the Islamic Republic over the particulars of its weaponry while failing to address the very purpose of its bellicosity is delusional. The so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action does nothing to change the fact that, in plain Farsi, Iran is committed to world conquest by Islam, with its clerics as warlords. Those to be conquered include America (the ‘Great Satan’), Israel (the ‘Little Satan’) and the Sunni-led Gulf States.”

The nuke deal did nothing to change that aspiration because it cannot be changed. Iran’s Brigadier General Qolamhossein Qeib-parvar of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has declared: “There are only two things that would end enmity between us and the US. Either the US president and EU leaders should convert to Islam and imitate the Supreme Leader, or Iran should abandon Islam and the Islamic revolution. If they are not going to turn Muslim, we are not going to abandon Islam or the revolution either. But I do not know why some people believe that some day we will make peace with the US and start relations with them.”

On September 23, 2015, two months after the nuke deal was finalized, Khamenei published an article entitled “The Idols Will Be Shattered,” illustrated with a drawing of the Statue of Liberty shattered in pieces. In it he declared, “The idol of the soul, the idol of pride, [and] the idol of sexual lust; the idol of tyranny and subservience; the idol of global tyranny [that is, the U.S.]; the idol of sloth and irresponsibility; and the other idols that shame the precious human soul—a plan that will spring forth from the depths of the heart will shatter them.”

But then Donald Trump became President. Iran continued its adventurism, and got new sanctions. Nonetheless, it persisted, and Soleimani was killed. Do the mullahs really doubt that Trump will act swiftly and decisively in response to further Iranian provocations? The Left’s outrage over the President’s language may be designed to obscure the fact that his strategy is working. Islamic supremacists and jihadis generally understand the world in terms of strength and weakness. They respect strength and despise weakness, and they see appeasement and accommodation as weakness. When Obama gave them billions and a pathway to nuclear weapons within ten years, they became more aggressive than ever. When Trump spoke and acted more firmly, they have curbed their activities.

But will the establishment media ever grasp the change, or report it to the American people? Of course not. They would much rather f**k with the President.

Breonna Taylor: Anatomy of A Racial Hoax - David Horowitz and John Perazzo

by David Horowitz and John Perazzo

How Oprah Winfrey and Black Lives Matter are colluding in a plot to perpetrate a social injustice.

Breonna Taylor was a 26-year-old emergency-room medical technician. Her death on March 13, 2020 at the hands of Louisville, Kentucky police officers became a marquee case for the Black Lives Matter movement. One of the most celebrated figures in American life, Oprah Winfrey, took up Breonna’s cause and bought 26 giant billboards – each one representing a year of her short life. The billboards featured Taylor’s image and the words: “Demand that the police involved in killing Breonna Taylor be arrested and charged.”[1] A website called UntilFreedom.com, describing itself as “an intersectional social justice organization rooted in the leadership of diverse people of color to address systemic and racial injustice,” joined Oprah in carrying out the initiative.[2]

In addition to the billboards, Oprah put Taylor’s photo on the cover of her best-selling monthly magazine “O,” which had featured Oprah herself on the cover of every issue since its inception twenty years before.[3] For this special issue, Oprah wrote a moving editorial tribute to Breonna’s life, which contained this account of the incident that ended her life: “We know how Breonna died. March 13. Louisville police storming into her apartment in the middle of the night. No uniforms. No ‘This is the police!’ Terrifying Breonna and her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker.”[4]

Well, not exactly. Along with other sources available, the CNN account to which Oprah provided a link, tells a more complicated story.[5] The raid on Taylor’s apartment was one of five taking place that night, all of them included as suspected distribution centers for a crack cocaine dealer named Jamarcus Glover.[6] Glover had been Taylor’s boyfriend two years previously, and she had kept in touch with him. According to The New York Times, after they first became a couple in 2016, Taylor agreed to rent a car for Glover and ended up interviewed in a murder investigation. A man was found shot to death behind the steering wheel of that car, and drugs were also found.[7] Yet Taylor kept up her close relationship with the drug dealer and continued to provide valued services to his drug operation.

Drawing on the Times investigation, former prosecutor Andrew McCarthy summarized the continuing relationship: “In the years that followed, Glover was repeatedly arrested on drug charges, and Taylor arranged bail for him and one of his confederates on at least two occasions. Weeks before the fateful March 2020 raid, when Glover was in custody after yet another arrest, they were recorded exchanging intimacies on the phone. After that, police surveillance established that Glover continued to make regular trips to Taylor’s apartment, and Taylor herself was seen outside a house that investigators say was part of the drug trafficking operations.”[8]

Taylor’s car was seen in the vicinity of a “trap house” associated with Glover several times, and was photographed in front of that location in mid-February. “Trap houses” are used for storing drugs. Police also had evidence that Glover used Taylor’s address to receive parcels sent by mail. He was seen leaving her apartment carrying a package in mid-January.[9]

Glover was known to make frequent trips to Taylor’s apartment; he had visited her the month before the raid, and he used her apartment as a mailing address where he commonly received packages as well as important documents like bank statements.[10] This led police investigators to think her house might have been part of his drug network.[11] As it turned out there were no drugs in Taylor’s home, but this knowledge came as a result of the raid and therefore too late.

In the hours after he was arrested in a separate raid on March 13, Jamarcus Glover made repeated phone calls from the jail in which he was being held. In those calls, he informed a man that he had exchanged text messages with Taylor the day before about items which he had shipped to her apartment.[12] Glover also said that Taylor was “hanging onto my money,” while he tried to come up with enough cash to post bond.[13] According to Glover, Taylor was holding $8,000 of the drug dealer’s money.[14]

The other man in Breonna Taylor’s life in March 2020 was her new boyfriend, 27-year-old Kenneth Walker, a low-grade drug dealer. After Taylor’s death on March 13, investigators recovered, from Walker’s phone, text messages in which Walker discussed selling “pills” to Hooters waitresses. In another text conversation, he transmitted an image of a bag of marijuana which he advertised as “Cali High Grade Premium Cannabis 1LB.” And in other messages still, Walker offered to sell half ounces of marijuana for $25, or two “zips” – a slang term for “ounces” – for $260. Moreover, in a group chat where Walker discussed plans to rob someone, he asked how much “bread” the intended target had in his possession. When another participant in the chat asked whether Walker would need to do a certain amount of “homework” (i.e., preparation) for the theft, Walker replied that he himself was in the habit of doing his “homework” in advance of “every mission.”[15]

Investigators also recovered photos of Taylor and Walker posing with firearms. In one photo stored on Walker's phone, a smiling Taylor stood next to Walker as he held a Glock 9mm handgun and a Springfield Saint AR-15. The picture was accompanied by a caption that read, “Partners in crime,” along with a cartoon rendering of handcuffs. In text messages that were also recovered from Walker’s phone, Walker stated that his Glock was not registered to him, and that he had purchased it from a “white boy.” Taylor  had sent an image of herself holding the AR-15 in a text message to Walker.[16]

At 12:30 AM, on the morning of March 13, three officers appeared with a “no knock” warrant at the door of Taylor’s apartment.[17] However, their supervisors told them to knock anyway and announce that they were police, which they later claimed to have done, although Walker, who was also in the apartment, claims not to have heard them.[18] When they got no response from anyone inside the apartment, the officers used a battering ram to break down the door.[19]

Either roused by the officers’ announcement or by the sound of the breaking door, Taylor and Walker got out of bed and went to the entrance hall. Walker was carrying a weapon that was legally registered.[20] He fired at the intruders in the darkness, hitting Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly in the leg.[21] This triggered a hail of bullets from the officers, six of which hit Taylor, and killed her.[22] Contrary to the Black Lives Matter accusations, social media posts and media reports claiming that Taylor had been shot “in her sleep,” she actually died on the floor of her hallway where she followed her new boyfriend Kenneth Walker.[23]

If this was a racial killing, why not shoot the boyfriend, who was armed and also black, instead of the unarmed woman? It is more likely that the boyfriend jumped out of the line of fire after pulling the trigger, but Taylor did not.

Contrary to the cries of the lynch mob seeking to destroy the lives of police officers and a black Attorney General for doing their jobs, Taylor was not killed because she was black. Nor was she innocent in creating the situation that led to her death. The police were at her house because she was an accomplice to a known drug dealer. One can understand how the heart can lead perfectly decent people to be drawn into indecent situations, but Breonna Taylor had serious warnings – the dead body in the car she had rented for her boyfriend should have been sufficient – to cease providing assistance to a dangerous criminal.

Anyone looking at this incident with hindsight can see multiple parts of the search plan and pre-raid investigation that were faulty and could have been modified to prevent the tragedy that occurred. What is difficult for an impartial observer to understand is how any of the officers, obviously fearful for their lives and acting in the dark, could be held criminally accountable for the death of Breonna Taylor. Amidst the public uproar over the incident, the Louisville city council passed “Breonna’s Law,” legislation that banned no-knock warrants and required officers serving search warrants to wear body cameras.[24] How would either of these reforms have had a positive effect on the outcome?

Many entertainers, celebrities, athletes, and political figures became outspoken champions of the effort to win “justice” for Breonna Taylor and her family. During a post-game interview on June 23, 2020 NBA basketball star LeBron James demanded that the police officers involved in Taylor’s death be arrested.”[25] In the Women’s National Basketball Association, numerous players dedicated their season to Taylor and wore her name on the backs of their jerseys.[26] On June 5, Democrat Senator Cory Booker tweeted that Taylor’s “life was tragically taken by police and we will not stop marching for justice until it’s served for her and her family.”[27] That same day, Senator Kamala Harris lamented that Taylor’s life had been “horrifically” snuffed out, and she urged Americans to “keep up the calls for justice.”[28]

On September 18, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced that a grand jury had decided not to file homicide charges against any of the three officers in connection with Taylor’s death, on grounds that they were justified in having used their weapons to defend themselves.[29] Brett Hankison, however, was indicted on three counts of “wanton endangerment” because several of the shots he fired penetrated the walls separating Breonna Taylor’s apartment from that of the next-door neighboring family.[30] In response to the failure to recommend a homicide indictment, massive Black Lives Matter protests erupted in Louisville, where two police officers were shot, and in numerous other cities across the country.[31]

Attorney General Cameron, a black Republican, was condemned by the left after making his announcement. Among his more vocal critics was rap star Megan Thee Stallion, who appeared on Saturday Night Live and played an audio clip in which leftwing activist Tamika Mallory said, “Daniel Cameron is no different than the sellout Negroes that sold our people into slavery.” Cameron responded by calling it “disgusting” that “someone would get on national television and make disparaging comments about me because I'm simply trying to do my job” – i.e., trying to “stand up for truth and justice as opposed to giving into a mob mentality.”[32]

But a mob mentality is the very air that Black Lives Matter breathes.

Thanks to the Black Lives Matter successful propaganda campaign and the efforts of celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Breonna Taylor’s family received a $12 million settlement on September 15, 2020, and  three officers and a black Attorney General are under fire for protecting the public and defending the facts. How to Understand Joe Biden’s Ukrainian Connection - Alexander G. Markovsky

 by Alexander G. Markovsky

Corruption 101

Joe Biden’s shenanigans in Ukraine need to be understood in the context of the business and political culture of Ukraine and the former Soviet bloc. We must not be naïve -- the Ukrainian company Burisma Holding Limited did not hire a druggie like Hunter Biden, the son of the Vice President of the United States Joe Biden, for his expertise or business acumen. It did not hire obscure Devon Archer, a managing partner of Rosemont Seneca Partners, a $2.4 billion private equity firm co-owned by the stepson of John Kerry Christopher Heinz, for his administrative genius, either.

Burisma expected it was hiring the principals, Joe Biden and John Kerry. Hunter Biden and Devon Archer were just bagmen.

The arrangement is called “крыша,” which translates as “roof” in Russian. It means patronage and protection in exchange for an agreed monthly payment, often payable to a third party to ensure deniability. It is important to point out that “roof” is not just criminal jargon, it is a contract. But unlike a legal document secured by a written text, criminals operate outside the law and leave no paper trail.

“Roof” has been prevalent in the post-Soviet era in the territories of the former Soviet Union, where various entities offer protection -- organized crime, police, high ranking government officials, and a few other powerful entities. The necessity for “roof” is often part of business planning. Burisma is not an exception.

In 2002, during the tenure of President Viktor Yanukovych, his ecology minister Mykola Zlochevsky registered Burisma Holding Limited on Cyprus. Burisma managed to secure lucrative government licenses for gas field exploration and production to become the largest private gas company in Ukraine. De jure, the licenses for the exploration of natural resources are drafted as bilateral agreements between the government entities and private enterprises, but de facto they are unilateral and revocable grants of privileges by a president and high-ranking government officials to their cronies and supporters.

As long as President Yanukovych was in power Mr. Zlochevsky’s assets were secured from a hostile takeover. President Yanukovych was his “roof,” his protector, defender, and benefactor. But, nothing under the sun is permanent.

In February 2014 Yanukovych was overthrown in a coup and fled the country. Zlochevsky followed him shortly. In a dramatic reversal of fortunes, Burisma overnight changed from one of the strongest to one of the weakest players in Ukrainian power politics. The recourse of the weakest was to find a new “roof” before newly-elected President Petro Poroshenko, who made no secret of his desire to add Burisma to his basket of assets, would be sworn in during June 2014.

It is not known when and who approached John Kerry and or Joe Biden, assuming the deal followed classic local customs, and what was offered in exchange for lobbing and political support. But on April 22, 2014, Devon Archer was put on Burisma's board. On May 13, 2014, Hunter Biden himself joined the board.

On the same day, Christopher Heinz rushed to dissociate himself and the firm from what looked like an unscrupulous endeavor. He emailed Matt Summers and David Wade, two of his stepfather’s top aides at the State Department, “I can’t speak why they decided to, but there was no investment by our firm in their company,” wrote Heinz.

The passage clearly displayed that the State Department was aware of the arrangement and revealed Christopher Heinz’s concern regarding if not the legitimacy but certainty the ethics of the undertaking.

For Burisma, the impact of having Hunter Biden and mso-border-alt: none windowDevon Archer on its board could not be overstated. It thought that it had acquired an ultimate “roof” -- the Vice President and the Secretary of State of the United States of America. The hiring sent a subliminal message to Poroshenko that Burisma is protected by the US Government.

Poroshenko ignored the message. As soon as he was sworn in, he directed his prosecutor general, Vitaly Yarema, to open a corruption investigation into Burisma in order to build a case to forfeit the profitable gas licenses awarded to Burisma.

In January 2015 Yarema was replaced with Poroshenko’s close associate Viktor Shokin who continued the investigation.

By 2016 the investigation was at its pinnacle and Burisma’s management panicked. They had been contacting the State Department requesting to end the investigation. In spring 2016 Joe Biden was forced to act. He stepped in to protect his client Burisma Holding and demanded Poroshenko to dismiss Shokin. Poroshenko refused.

They said, ‘You have no authority. You’re not the President — Poroshenko said’ … I said, 'Call him.' “I looked at them and said, ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’ Well, son of a b----. He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time," Biden bragged about his accomplishment.

In a process, Biden inadvertently admitted that President Obama, if not involved, at least was aware of the shady business of his Vice President.

Poroshenko couldn’t fight the President of the United States, and Shokin was fired. At this juncture, Poroshenko decided that it is better to have a percentage of something than a hundred percent of nothing. He made a deal with Zlochevsky and his trusted man Igor Kononenko joined Burisma's board. The vanquished enemies became allies.

Miraculously, there was no longer a need for investigation and a new prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko, “who was solid at the time,” closed the probe. There was no longer a need for Joe Biden’s services either. Hunter Biden and Devon Archer eventually resigned from Burisma's board. Zlochevsky returned to the country. The “roof” earned its pay.
