After testy exchange, Senate hands Trump win by rejecting bill to rein in his war on Iran - John Solomon

Had it passed, the bill would've required President Trump to veto it in order to block it

The Senate late Wednesday rejected a measure to restrain President Donald Trump's war against Iran, handing a win to the president just hours after a spirited meeting with GOP senators that devolved into shouting.

The procedural motion failed 50-47, with Republican Sens. Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski voting with Democrats.

Just one  day earlier, four GOP senators defected on a similar resolution so Wednesday's vote was hailed as a win for Trump.

"Wow! The Senate just changed its vote on Iran from 50-48 against, to 50-47 for," Trump wrote on social media. "Rand Paul and Bill Cassidy changed. Thank you to Leader John Thune, Lindsey Graham, Bernie Moreno, and all. This vote puts Iran on notice!"

Democrat Sen. Tim Kaine's resolution would have directed Mr. Trump to "remove the United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against Iran," unless authorized by Congress."

How did it passed, the bill would've required President Trump to veto it in order to block it.
