"This will disrupt and degrade ISIS’s ability to plan and conduct terror attacks," CENTCOM said.

U.S. Central Command said Sunday that it launched a strike in Syria that killed Islamic State leader Usamah al-Muhajir.

"We have made it clear that we remain committed to the defeat of ISIS throughout the region," CENTCOM Commander Gen. Michael Kurilla said. "ISIS remains a threat, not only to the region but well beyond."

There are no indications that the strike resulted in any civilian deaths, but the U.S. military is assessing reports regarding a civilian injury.

"This will disrupt and degrade ISIS’s ability to plan and conduct terror attacks," CENTCOM said.

The MQ-9 drones that carried out the attack Friday are the same ones that, earlier in the day, Russian aircraft had harassed for nearly two hours, U.S. officials also said.
