The Israel Defense Forces has confiscated more than 85,000 weapons, missiles and other terrorism apparatuses belonging to Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon, a military spokesperson revealed on Friday.

The IDF showcased a huge stockpile of weapons found since it began its ground operation in Southern Lebanon on Oct. 1, in a presentation held last week at the Northern Command headquarters in Safed.

IDF troops operated against Iranian-backed Hezbollah in more than 30 areas across Southern Lebanon, identified and destroyed terrorist infrastructure, killed terrorists, and located and seized numerous weapons.

“The confiscated weapons were used by Hezbollah to attack Israeli civilians and were intended to be deployed as part of Hezbollah’s ‘Conquer the Galilee’ invasion plan,” the IDF said in a statement.

Hezbollah’s military capabilities have been significantly degraded as a result of the ground operation, added the military.

The IDF showcased anti-aircraft guns mounted on jeeps, hundreds of advanced anti-tank missiles, shortened and modern Kalashnikov rifles, heavy machine guns, shells, sniper rifles, explosive devices of different sizes, and more. The exhibition also featured NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) masks used to fight in conditions of gas and smoke, and Go-Pro cameras intended to document an invasion of the Galilee.

Meanwhile, the 226th Reserve Paratroopers Brigade, under the command of the 146th Reserve Division, continued to enforce the truce agreement in Southern Lebanon, the IDF said.

Dozens of terrorism infrastructures were identified in the area of Naqoura, the westernmost village in Southern Lebanon. Troops combed the area and found weapons in a civilian building that also served as a pharmacy. Explosives, rocket-propelled grenades, Kalashnikov rifles, Burkan rockets, mortar shells and other military items were found.

In a separate operation, the IDF located rocket launchers aimed at Israel and a truck with 40 rocket launchers.

OC Israeli Air Force Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar spoke to soldiers and the press on Friday, saying, “This morning we attacked seven crossings of the Syria-Lebanon border. We realized that they are trying to test us and bring in weapons once again. They are trying to raise their heads and check how much we enforce [the ceasefire] understandings. It must not be tolerated.”

During a visit to a military position in Southern Lebanon on Dec. 22, Defense Minister Israel Katz said that the IDF will “crush” Hezbollah if the Iranian-backed terrorist group violates the ceasefire agreement.

“We defanged the snake, and if Hezbollah does not withdraw beyond the Litani [River] and tries to violate the ceasefire, we will crush its head,” Katz said in a statement.

“We will not allow Hezbollah to return to the southern [Lebanese] villages to reestablish the terror infrastructure that poses a threat to the northern [Israeli] communities,” he said.
