After years of the Palestinian Authority declaring that children are expendable in the fight against Israel, armed gangs have turned the tables on the PA and are using children to fight against them.
At a press conference last week describing the PA's efforts to retain power against armed gangs in cities such as Jenin, PA Security Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Anwar Rajab "made clear that the criminals used children for surveillance, for moving ammunition from place to place, and for throwing locally-made pipe bombs at Security Forces personnel in return for material reward – something that was captured on video. They also used women for this purpose..." [Official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, January 10, 2025].
The idea of the PA criticizing Palestinian armed groups for using children is the epitome of irony and hypocrisy. After all, the PA has been the driving force encouraging the use of Palestinian child soldiers for decades. The PA/Fatah has disseminated children's poems declaring "our ammunition is our children" and has constantly incited children to be terrorists and seek Martyrdom. At that rate, it was inevitable that all Palestinian terror groups would take a strategic page from the PA. Such systematic use of child soldiers by Palestinians comes as no surprise to readers of Palestinian Media Watch.
