From the Ashes - Eileen F. Toplansky

by Eileen F. Toplansky

"The fool hath said in his heart.  There is no God.  They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good."

As a zamler, or book collector, I have been invited into the homes of people who, though they may not understand Yiddish, do not want to discard the Yiddish books that their grandparents used to read and cherish.  I collect the books and send them to the National Yiddish Book Center, whose rescue efforts are nothing short of miraculous.

In one of my journeys into an elderly woman's attic, I discovered Saul Raskin's artistic rendition of Tehillim, or the Book of Psalms.  As if directed by providential intervention, the book opened to an arresting picture of Hitler the beast, sword in hand, while a feminine figure rises above him.  Soldiers with swords lord it over their prostrate victims.

Published in 1942, this collection of drawings is Raskin's artistic interpretations of the Psalms.  This particular etching not only describes the evil of the 20th century but actually presages the ongoing malevolence of the 21st century.  The black and white etching is accompanied by Psalm 14 and reads, "The fool hath said in his heart.  There is no God.  They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good."  And on the lapel of  Hitler is the Hebrew for "there is no God."

The absence of God equals the destruction of His creatures and the irrevocable loss of the inviolability of innocent children when they are raped and burned.  It is why all totalitarian regimes try to erase the godliness of mankind.  It is the negation of freedom to choose, to dream, to live.

And thus, the spirit of Hitler lives on when we learn that a young Yazidi woman who has been repeatedly raped by the beasts of ISIS pleads with the world, "If you know where we are, please bomb us.  There is no life after this.  I am gong to kill  myself anyway."

And the indifferent United Nations, European Union, and now impotent United States stand idly by while ISIS blows up ancient ruins in their unending desire to establish an Islamic caliphate.  And renowned archaeologist, Khaled Assad, 82, is held hostage by ISIS for over a month before he is beheaded.  Yet no outrage is heard, and no definitive action is taken to eradicate the Islamic pestilence that brings nothing but death and destruction.

After Auschwitz, people asked, "Where was God?"  But the real question that needs to be asked is "where is man?"

And now Barack Hussein Obama has empowered Iran, the number one purveyor of terrorism.  The idea that American funds will be used to eventually destroy innocent people the world over is unconscionable.  Clearly Obama the Reprehensible, does not seem to care that all lives matter as he blesses the carnage that will undoubtedly come.

What is equally unbelievable is the dangerously feckless attitude of the Democrats in Congress who buy into the balderdash that this White House concocts – i.e., that empowering Iran with money to enlarge their nuclear capability actually will make it easier for us to bomb them if necessary.  And of course, letting Iran inspect its own nuclear site makes perfect sense.  For those "crazies" who oppose the deal with credible arguments, this is mind-boggling.

There are at least three explanations for Obama's behavior.  It must be that (a) he cannot properly evaluate the apocalyptic, genocidal intentions of Iranian leaders; (b) he refuses to actually assess these genocidal intentions; or (c) he is comfortable with the daily iterations of genocide against Israel and America.

In his classic novel Night, Elie Wiesel writes:
My faceless neighbor spoke up:
'Don't be deluded. Hitler has made it clear that he will annihilate all Jews before the clock strikes twelve.'
I exploded:
'What do you care what he said? Would you want us to consider him a prophet?'
His cold eyes stared at me. At last he said, wearily:
'I have more faith in Hitler than in anyone else. He alone has kept his promises, all his promises, to the Jewish people.'
Thus, Joel C. Rosenberg writes that "[t]he Iranian leaders hold to a deeply dangerous End Times theology. They have candidly and repeatedly vowed to annihilate the United States and Israel. They have declared these goals official Iranian policy. And they are now using this insane nuclear deal to buy time and lull the West into a false sense of security and their war machine is built up and they are ready to strike with full fury."

Trudy Rubin writes that Obama's "policies for fighting ISIS are so inept and contradictory they have helped the groups' so-called caliphate to sink ever deeper territorial roots."

Coupled with this sobering assessment that Obama is doing nothing substantial to halt the Middle East carnage is the resulting tide of  Muslim immigrants inundating parts of Europe.  Consequently, the "[t]ide of arrivals from the Middle East and Africa has put particular stress on the bloc's border states. Hungary argues it is too overwhelmed to follow the usual protocols for registration and fingerprinting of asylum seekers – one example of how the EU's asylum rules are failing to keep up with the tide of migrants."

Is Obama's inaction a deliberate move to create a radical change to the continent's demographics consistent with his belief that the "United States is not and never will be at war with Islam."

After all, he, of global aspirations, refuses to acknowledge Islamic terrorism; yet he continues to castigate Western civilization whenever he can.  America continues to lose its sovereign southern boundary via the porous border, so why not overwhelm Europe by doing nothing to stem the tide of ISIS terror?  Then the sheer number of Muslims creates very hospitable conditions for a global caliphate.

As a result of the madness of Hitler:
... the murder of hostages, reprisal raids, forced labor, 'euthanasia,' starvation, exposure, medical experiments, and terror bombing, and in the concentration and death camps, the Nazis murdered from 15,003,000 to 31,595,000 people, most likely 20,946,000 men, women, handicapped, aged, sick, prisoners of war, forced laborers, camp inmates, critics, homosexuals, Jews, Slavs, Serbs, Germans, Czechs, Italians, Poles, French, Ukrainians, and many others. Among them 1,000,000 were children under eighteen years of age. And none of these monstrous figures even include civilian and military combat or war-deaths.
How can we resign ourselves to the possibility of another global holocaust?
