Joe Biden goes overboard pandering on 'climate change' — dissing coal miners - Thomas Lifson

The really hilarious part of this is that not too long ago, progressives were huffing and puffing that telling unemployed journalists to learn to code was unbearably cruel and a right-wing travesty.

Nobody has ever accused Joe Biden of being too cerebral. But he does know that all the major institutions of media, education, and government have bought into the apocalyptic cult of global warming, and as an experienced Democrat, he realizes that they are his real political base, and he'd better say what they want to hear.

Joe's already kissed goodbye to the blue-collar constituency that was supposed to be his to reclaim from Donald Trump when he indicated that he'd be fine with killing tens of thousands of high-paying oil and gas jobs because of the global warming doom we face.

Yesterday, he upped the ante — and the condescension — and told coal miners that they need to learn to program: "Anybody who can go down 300 or 300 feet in a mine sure as hell can learn to program as well[.] ... Anybody who can throw coal into furnace can learn how to program, for God's sake."

For a guy claiming Scranton roots, Joe knows precious little about coal mining and what it pays. "Underground miners have the ability to earn more than $150,000 a year."

Computer programmers average $84,280 per year in income.

The really hilarious part of this is that not too long ago, progressives were huffing and puffing that telling unemployed journalists to learn to code was unbearably cruel and a right-wing travesty. The Center For American Progress's "Think Progress" gravely intoned:
"Learn to code" is a linguistic dog whistle. To the uninitiated, it makes absolutely no sense; to the target, it registers with perfect and cruel specificity; and, to the harasser, it comes with built-in plausible deniability.
