During a meeting with members of the German
Bundestag's Foreign Affairs Committee in Berlin on Saturday, Yesh Atid
leader Yair Lapid spoke out against the impending European Union move to label products from settlements in the West Bank that are sold in European supermarkets.
Lapid called labeling settlement products a
"wrong way to promote the diplomatic process," saying such a move would
"only set the process back."
"The decision to label products is a boycott in every sense of the word," Lapid said.
In an interview with the Berlin-based DW television news
network, Lapid said, "The EU is hiding behind legal jargon and trying
to paint a picture that this is a legal matter. This is incorrect. It's a
political issue. [The EU is] capitulating to the worst elements of
jihad. The labeling of settlement products is a direct continuation of
the boycott movement against Israel, which is anti-Semitic and
misguided."
