Terrorist group brags that since its inception in 1987, its operatives have fired 16,377 rockets at Israel, carried out 86 suicide attacks, 36 stabbing attacks, over 500 border infiltrations, 250 shooting attacks and abducted 26 Israelis, dead and alive.
Mass rallies, special speeches, and military parades -- those are just some of the events planned this week by Hamas government in the Gaza Strip to mark the Islamist group's 28th anniversary.
Boasting a bloody history, Hamas recently uploaded a six-minute video montage to its website, featuring the "highlights" of terrorist attacks carried out by its military wing, the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, over the years, and touting the group's readiness for a fresh round of hostilities versus Israel.
The terrorist group bragged that Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades' rocket unit has fired 16,377 shells at Israel. Hamas said its rocket production capabilities have vastly improved over the years; that the majority of its projectiles were now domestically produced; and that Haifa was the northernmost Israeli city it was able to target during 2014's Operation Protective Edge.
Touting other gruesome details, Hamas said that since its inception in 1987, its operatives have carried out 86 suicide attacks, 36 stabbing attacks, over 500 border infiltrations and raids, 250 shooting attacks, neutralized over 80 armored vehicles, and abducted 26 Israelis, both dead and alive.
In a support rally held in Gaza City Monday, senior Hamas official Mahmoud al-Zahar spoke of the press conference held by the parents of IDF soldier Staff Sgt. Oron Shaul, killed during the Gaza campaign, demanding that Hamas, which claims to hold him captive, provide Israel with proof of its claim.
"The Israeli enemy will not get any information on the fate of its soldiers before all the people released in the Schalit deal and arrested after the three settlers were abducted are freed," al-Zahar said, referring to security prisoners released as part of the 2011 deal that secured the release of Hamas captive Gilad Schalit. Dozens of individuals released in the deal were rearrested in June and July 2014, following the abduction and murder of Israeli teens.
"The Zionists must release the prisoners and meet all their obligations regarding the rehabilitation of the Gaza Strip, as agreed in the indirect talks in Cairo at the end of the 2014 summer campaign," he said.
