'The Left can't teach us about human rights' - Hezki Ezra

Likud MK Yoav Kish officially files bill aimed at fighting Israeli NGOs funded by foreign countries who work against Jewish state.

MK Yoav Kish (Likud) submitted his controversial "Shatulim" (lit. "planted" - Heb. - ed.) bill on Wednesday in an effort to offer the public more transparency about the funding of Israeli NGOs who frequently criticize the state and the IDF abroad.

The bill would require all foreign-backed NGOs to maintain full transparency about their sources of funding, prevent such organizations from being in contact with Israeli government and military branches and organizations, and give the Israeli government and the public new tools to cope with the slow infiltration of Israeli government policy by NGOs and other non-native entities.

Kish also revealed on Wednesday that he had been a member of the Blue and White Human Rights Association established by The Institute for Zionist Strategies.

"The Left will not teach us about human rights," he blasted, before launching an implicit attack on anti-IDF NGO Breaking the Silence. "We protect human rights and if there is a deviation from the norm we will transfer the relevant information for handling by the proper authority. Whoever is really concerned about a more moral IDF in accordance with the Zionist vision, will not go out and smear the State of Israel and IDF soldiers at the United Nations."

Kish also called on Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid to sign the bill after the latter announced he was joining a group of IDF reservists in launching new efforts to hinder Breaking the Silence.

"The real fight against the organizations that delegitimize is by taking action and not just by words," Kish asserted. "I am sorry for the path Lapid has chosen. The Likud will continue to fight against the incitement of Breaking the Silence and others like it."

Kish's bill sparked controversy after grassroots movement Im Tirtzu published a video in support of the bill, which singled out four leftist activists as examples of "foreign agents" assisting the terrorist enemy.

The Meretz party filed a complaint against the "warped and dangerous" video to the Attorney General, while the US-based Anti-Defamation League accused Im Tirtzu of "incitement."
