The Top Ten Schools Supporting Terrorists: UC Irvine - Frontpagemag.com

by Frontpagemag.com

A notorious base for supporters of terrorists.

Last night the David Horowitz Freedom Center launched a campaign against the pro-terrorist groups and their faculty encouragers at the University of California Irvine campus. The University of California, Irvine is a notorious base for supporters of terrorists. BDS activists on campus make no secret of their allegiance to Hamas, chanting slogans such as “Intifada, Intifada/long live the Intifada” and “when people are occupied/resistance is justified” and disrupting pro-Israel events. Irvine hosts an annual Israeli Apartheid Week which has been variously called “Anti-Zionism Week” and “Resisting Zionism” by its supporters.

Recently, Irvine’s mock “apartheid wall” glorified convicted hijacker Leila Khaled a member of the murderous terrorist organization Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The wall depicted a map of Israel with the entire nation labeled as “occupied territory.” Speakers invited to Irvine by the campus chapter of the Muslim Student Union included BDS movement founder Omar Barghouti and infamous terrorist-supporting anti-Semite, Amir Abdel Malik Ali, who has openly stated his allegiance to Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad. Irvine’s student senate unanimously passed a BDS resolution in 2012, one of the first student governments in the nation to do so. Irvine students even met with a prominent Hamas leader during a secret trip to the Middle East in 2009.

On Wednesday night, the David Horowitz Freedom Center conducted a campus poster operation at Irvine, plastering the campus with posters identifying the organization Students for Justice in Palestine as a campus front for Hamas terrorists and the Hamas intermediary American Muslims for Palestine (AMP). AMP was revealed in recent congressional testimony to be funneling terrorist dollars to Students for Justice in Palestine to support the Hamas-sponsored, anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign in America.

One poster depicts a gun-toting Hamas terrorist holding the strings of a puppet labeled “American Muslims for Palestine” which in turn controls a marionette labeled “Students for Justice in Palestine.” Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) is described as “The chief sponsor of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish activities on campus.” Hamas is identified as “A terror organization pledged to wipe out Israel” (a goal explicitly stated in the Hamas charter) while AMP is the “Hamas-created chief organizer and funder of SJP.” The poster also depicts shadowed bodies lying in pools of blood, illustrating the bloody deeds of Hamas’s campaign of terror against the Jews. The poster contains the hashtag #JewHatred and the Freedom Center’s website, www.HorowitzFreedomCenter.org.

A second poster targets UC-Irvine professor and director of the UC Institute for Humanities Research Theo Goldberg who is depicted in caricature. The poster reveals that Goldberg “Calls Israelis Nazis” and “Claims Jews Murder Palestinians in Snuff Films.”

The posters are part of a larger Freedom Center campaign titled Stop the Jew Hatred on Campus which seeks to confront the agents of campus anti-Semitism and expose the financial and organizational relationship between the terror group Hamas and Hamas support groups such as Students for Justice in Palestine. The campaign also recently released a report on the “Top Ten Schools Supporting Terrorists” which may be found on the campaign website, www.StoptheJewHatredonCampus.org. UC-Irvine is among the campuses listed in the Top Ten report. The section of the report demonstrating Irvine’s support of anti-Israel terrorists follows below.

Supporting Evidence:

May 18, 2016: Irvine SJP succeeded in disrupting a pro-Israel film screening that was co-sponsored by the campus chapters of Students Supporting Israel (SSI) and Hillel. SSI reported on its Facebook page that, “Tonight one of our events was disrupted by certain student organizations. They were in violation of UC Regents Hate Speech policy and were shouting various anti-Semitic statements. The police had to escort attendees out of the event for their own safety.” Video of the event reveals students shouting their support for anti-Israel terrorism, screaming “Intifada, Intifada/long live the Intifada,” “displacing people since ‘48/there’s nothing here to celebrate!” and “when people are occupied/resistance is justified.”

May 2-5, 2016: Irvine’s chapters of SJP and the Muslim Students Association (MSA) collaborated with other student groups to hold an “Anti-Zionist Week” on campus. The week featured a huge mock “apartheid wall” which celebrated anti-Israel terrorism in multiple panels. One panel depicted an image of convicted hijacker Leila Khaled holding a gun with the slogan “Women Leading Resistance” below it. “Resistance” is a euphemism for anti-Israel terrorism. Another segment of the wall repeats the slogan, “Resistance is justified when people are occupied.” Another segment depicted a map of Israel with the entire nation labeled as “occupied territory,” an allusion to Hamas’s genocidal goal to rid Israel of its Jews. The wall also endorsed the Hamas-inspired Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) against Israel.

In addition to the apartheid wall, Irvine’s anti-Zionist week featured a mock funeral procession for a Palestinian “martyr.” One of the students participating in the funeral procession held a sign proclaiming “Long Live the Intifada.” Another event featured a speech by anti-Israel Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss who comes from a fringe Jewish sect. During his address, Weiss resorted to anti-Semitic caricatures, claiming that Zionism is “a Madoff scheme” and Zionists use their “billions and billions of dollars” to intimidate “the media” and “any politician who dares …to show too much sympathy for the Palestinian cause.” He also claimed that “newspapers are conglomerates that are owned or controlled by Zionist organizations.”http://www.imgrum.net/media/1243068338314014499_227088962http://garyfouse.blogspot.com/2016/05/rabbi-yisroel-dovid-weiss-condemns.html

February 19, 2016: SJP held an event titled “Unlearning Zionism: A Workshop and Discussion” with the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network. The Facebook page for the event featured side-by-side photos labeled “Warsaw 1944” (an image of the Warsaw ghetto) with “Gaza 2009,” implying an equivalence between the Holocaust and the treatment of Palestinians.https://www.facebook.com/events/1600520343520537/

October 12, 2015: An event featuring former Israeli Chief Justice Aharon Barak at Irvine was interrupted by 20-30 anti-Israel protestors, forcing police to interrupt the event and escort Barak and the other attendees out of the event.

May 4-7, 2015: UC Irvine’s Muslim Student Union staged an “Anti-Zionism Week” on campus. As part of the week’s activities, SJP and MSU sold T-shirts emblazoned with “UC Intifada,” openly stating their allegiance to Jew-killing terrorists. The back of the T-shirt read “End Settler Colonialism” (a core Hamas fiction) and depicted a genocidal Hamas map which falsely alleged that an Arab nation called “Palestine” existed in 1947 and was over-run by Jews.

April 23, 2015: A pro-Israel festival held by Anteaters for Israel (“Anteaters” is the school team name) was disrupted by anti-Israel protestors, who used their bodies and large signs to block a walkway and loudly chanted such slogans as “Resistance is justified when people are occupied,” an attempt to whitewash terrorism.

December 7, 2014: UC Irvine SJP held an event in defense of terrorist Rasmeah Odeh, with law professor Marjorie Cohn, calling Odeh “our comrade and sister.” Odeh was convicted by an Israeli military court in 1970 for her involvement in two fatal terrorist bombings: “Join us as we host Marjorie Cohn, Professor of Law at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, former President of the National Lawyer’s [sic] Guild and current Deputy Secretary of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers as she discusses the implications of the U.S.’s targeting of our comrade and sister, Rasema Odeh [sic]. Ms. Cohn recently authored an article titled, “US Leaders Aid and Abet Israeli War Crimes, Genocide & Crimes Against Humanity.”

July 14, 2014: UC Irvine SJP shared on its Facebook page the following statement about Israel’s belated response to the unprovoked firing of thousands of Hamas rockets into its civilian areas, called “Operation Protective Edge.” The SJP statement parroted Hamas’s war propaganda that “Operation Protective Edge” was an aggressive initiative to indiscriminately murder Palestinians: “Israel’s war on Gaza is not an attempt to strike back at Hamas, nor was it in the 2008 war on Gaza or the previous wars it has waged against Palestinians. This is an attempt to murder as many Palestinians as they can before they decide to stop. If you are shocked that Israel is killing Palestinian women and children do not be, this is their intention and the principle on which their state was created. Every couple of years Israel wages a war on defenseless populations in their quest to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people. Remember, even if the current war stops, they will come back to kill more Palestinians in the future. Do not get comfortable today, and do not ignore Palestine tomorrow. Continue to spread awareness about what is happening. It should not take more than 150 lives for us to wake up and decide to care. Palestine is under occupation all day, every day. May we all see a free Palestine. #‎gazaunderattack#‎FreePalestine”

June  2014: UC Irvine SJP posted a statement on Operation Protective Edge, repeating Hamas lies and defending its war crimes: “718 People. 718 Palestinians. Israel is massacring Palestinians on such a mass scale, it’s a wonder why no media outlet is stating that they are targeting civilians. The lives taken speak louder than Israel propaganda.” Hamas deliberately locates its rocket launchers in civilian neighborhoods which accounts for the civilian casualties when Israel attempts to eliminate the Hamas rocket threat. SJP parrots this cynical propaganda as a loyal and uncritical ally of Hamas terrorism. UC Irvine SJP also shared a post from Holocaust-denying former professor Norman Finkelstein commenting on Operation Protective Edge and listing “the names of Palestinians that Israel has murdered. #‎gazaunderattack#‎freePalestine#‎IsraelcontinuestomurderPalestinians”

May 6, 2014: UC Irvine SJP crashed a pro-Israel demonstration called “IFest” with a large sign, “End Apartheid.”  A group of SJP and MSU members pushed through a gathering of pro-Israel students to intimidate them, causing injuries to some. One student was reportedly grabbed and deliberately pushed to the ground and left with scratches and bruises. SJP proudly showcased the demonstration on their Facebook page: “This is how we welcomed Ifest (Israeli Fest) today. This is how we remember; Israel’s Independence day is our catastrophe. #‎IsrealiIndependenceEqualsGenocide#‎FreePalestine:”

November 12, 2013: UC Irvine SJP hosted an event with anti-Israel activist Ben White, author ofIsraeli Apartheid: A Beginner’s Guideand co-author of Palestinians in Israel: Segregation, Discrimination and Democracy. White’s talk was titled “Israel: Apartheid, Not Democracy.” White has defended Hamas’ attempts to kill Israeli civilians, stating “Israel’s hasbara (public relations) says context for assault is rocket fire. Well, context for rocket fire is 64 years of expulsion & occupation.” A flat out lie. Gaza was a staging ground for three unprovoked aggressive wars against Israel, and Israel withdrew its forces from Gaza in a gesture of peace which was answered by thousands of Hamas rockets aimed at civilians.

May 6-9, 2013: UC Irvine’s Muslim Student Union (MSU) held a week of events on “Resisting Zionism: The Palestinian Narrative.” The week featured an enormous “apartheid wall” plastered with anti-Israel propaganda including a call for BDS and a list of the purported “Rules of Occupation” which invert the reality that Israeli security measures are necessitated by Palestinian terrorism and aggression to assert the false claim that Israel is seeking to oppress and ethnically cleanse Palestinians. In fact, the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel have more rights and protections than the Arabs of any other Middle Eastern nation. The week of anti-Jewish activities included multiple anti-Israel events including one with anti-Israel activist Miko Peled and also a discussion on “The Need for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions.”

November 2012: UC Irvine’s student senate became one of the first in the nation to pass a Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) resolution against Israel. The BDS movement is a Hamas-inspired and funded campaign to strangle the Jewish state. The vote was unanimous, 16-0.

May 8 2012: Anti-Semitic hate speaker Amir Abdel Malik Ali, a black racist “Imam” from Oakland, spoke at Irvine’s Palestinian Liberation Week which is organized by the Muslim Student Union.  In addition to defending suicide bombers, Malik Ali has compared the Jews to Nazis and openly expressed support for Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad.

February 2010: UC Irvine’s Muslim Student Union disrupted a speech by Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren on campus, which resulted in the arrest of nine of its members (and another two from the UC-Riverside chapter). MSU members stood up one at a time and shouted accusations at Oren including, “Mr. Oren, propagating murder is not an expression of free speech” and “Israel is guilty of 101 war crimes.” The MSU members refused to cease their disruption, even after an administrator repeatedly begged for civility and ultimately scolded the students: “Shame on all of you!” The tactics used by the MSU are in keeping with Hamas’ prohibition on the “normalization” of relations with Israel and supporters of Israel. For its violation of campus rules of civility, the MSU received a one-year suspension, which was ultimately shortened to only one semester after the organization and its lawyer appealed.

September 2009: Students participated in a campus program called the Olive Tree Initiative and met with prominent Hamas leader Aziz Duwaik during a trip to Israel and the West Bank.  The students were told to keep the meeting a secret to avoid being prevented from re-entering Israel from the West Bank and to avoid a conflict with Jewish community leaders and others who would have disapproved of the meeting.

The angel of death in Aleppo - Dr. Mordechai Kedar

by Dr. Mordechai Kedar

Do we hear the drums of the apocalyptic war of Gog and Magog?

Whatever lies ahead of us in the new year is determined during the period of the High Holydays, when the Book of Life – and that of Death - are opened in the Heavens. The Book of Death does not only name those who will die but by what means each will meet his end:  by the sword, by falling prey to wild beasts, from hunger, pestilence  or other horrors that the fruitful mind of the human beast has managed to invent.

Apparently there are cultures whose main occupation is self destruction and the destruction of others, to whom the quality of life and the business of living are uninteresting at best. What counts in these cultures is honor, the ruler, power and the state – even when it is an artificial one – and these are much more important that the lives of a peaceful and quiet population that wants only to survive.

The state of Syria is taking its last gasping breaths, but there are those in Russia and Syria who feel that since some of the anti-Assad rebels have chosen the eastern sectors of Aleppo as their headquarters, the city's close to a quarter of a million men, women and children do not deserve to live. Putin and Assad believe that the lives of 250,000 citizens are less important than the elimination of a few hundred rebels, and much less important than the rule of Assad in Aleppo.

If Russia really wanted to end the crisis, its leaders would allow the artificial state known as Syria to fall and be remembered in the history books after its demise, as are the USSR, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and prior to that, the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian Empires, each of them a combination of ethnic and religious groups who never managed to become a united nation. This was the basic problem of the Arab States as well, and once the day of reckoning came, they failed to function.

If the leaders of Russia really wanted to solve Syria's problems they would sit down with the Americans and others who support those rebelling against Allawite butcher Assad, discuss ways to save civilian lives, leave the cities as viable entities and reach the only possible conclusion:  that no Allawite, considered a heretic by the Muslims who make up the majority of the area's inhabitants, can rule for long in the Middle East. This and nothing else, is Syria's basic problem and it did not start today. This is what lay behind the 1976-1982 Muslim Brotherhood rebellion against Bashar Assad's father Hafez, that left 50,000 dead. Today's rebellion began in 2010, has already left ten times that number dead  - half a million people -  and threatens to continue.

Russia is investing all its conventional (so far) military power to breathe life into the Assad regime although his regime has no hope of continuing on its own in a country where most of the people do not ever want to see him again. Russia has raised the level of its participation over the last two weeks and is systematically bombing – along with Assad's air force – the eastern sectors of Aleppo and particularly the hospitals, whose dwindling medical staff and untreated wounded  have been turned into live shields by the rebels. Are the rebels acting according to accepted rules of war? Of course not, but that can in no way excuse Russia and Syria's horrific response.

The situation in Aleppo, where hundreds of thousands of people are dying from hunger, disease and the bombings, has at last even elicited a response from the government of the United States of America, which witnessed the last five and a half years of genocide with complete equanimity.

The US halted the talks with Russia on the future of Syria which had absolutely no effect on the situation anyway, except for one week during the holiday of Id al Fitr, and in reality gave Russia a modicum of cover for escalating its military involvement against Aleppo's civilians.  The US also threatened to increase its support for the rebels if Russia continues to bomb Aleppo.

The Russians reacted by transferring the S-300 long range surface to air anti-missile system to Tartus, claiming that it is only going  to protect the Tartus military port. Protect from whom, exactly? The rebels have no air force. The range of these missiles is 200 kilometers and clearly placing them in Tartus is meant to cover the entire air space of northwestern Syria, including Aleppo and Latakia, in case western aircraft are deployed against Assad's bombers – or heaven forfend, Putin's.

Another step Russia has taken is stopping the talks with the US on limiting both nations' supply of plutonium. Plutonium has no uses other than military ones, so that limiting the amount held by each country should reduce the danger of nuclear war between the two superpowers. The cessation of talks is a significant sign that Russia really intends to flex its muscles vis a vis the US, which, for its part, is raising economic sanctions against Russia by a notch. These were instated a few years ago when Russia invaded Ukraine and annexed the Crimean Peninsula. The US suspects Russia of being involved in North Korea's nuclear project, in defiance of UN Security Council resolutions.

Russia is involved in the Iranian nuclear and ballistic missile industry, left for Iran to decide on independently in last year's Nuclear Agreement.

All this makes it seem that the Aleppo bombings are the straw that broke the American camel's back, one step too many for Russia, one that Americans cannot take lying down as Obama's presidency draws to a close for two main reasons: One, that Obama refuses to let his watch end with the American flag taken down in the Middle East and the area turning into a Russian sphere of influence. This would make America seem like a loser banished from the region with its tail between its legs. The Americans may not want to fight, but they also know what it means to be humiliated and want to avoid that with all their might.

The second reason is the coming elections: Obama and Clinton realize that an American defeat in the Middle East will put the Democratic administration, Obama's today and Clinton's if she is elected, in a terrible position when facing voters, who also do not want to engage in war but do not agree to be humiliatingly removed from another region - in addition to Ukraine, where Putin simply took over. An obvious humiliation might even lead to a Republican victory.

This presents a difficult dilemma for the current administration: How can the destruction of Aleppo and the rule of mass-murderer Assad be brought to an end without the US being drawn into the fray and without giving in to Putin's dictates over who will govern Syria in the future, when the Syrian issue is held in the vise that holds Ukraine, North Korea, Iran, plutonium stores and economic sanctions?

The circle is too solid to square through diplomatic means, especially since one side is doing everything to avoid using its strength while the other is actively using massive power to affect facts on the ground.

The history of international relations has no record of a similar situation among world powers; the Cold War between the USA and the USSR was based on a real mutual threat of equal magnitude that could have led to total world destruction, at a time when US presidents spoke and acted resolutely and employed determined military action (e.g. the Korean and Vietnamese wars). Today the faceoff is between a global power that uses its strength unrestrainedly to aid its allies and advance its own interests and another power that has decided not to employ its strength and even to abandon some of its allies.

American leaders see the destruction in Syria and know exactly who will be expected to finance its recovery. They have more than enough internal economic problems and have no desire to take part in rebuilding Syria just because they helped the rebels. That, however, is in the future, and what is important now is that a quarter of a million civilians in Aleppo want to survive. Russia, sure of itself and the justice of its cause, is destroying Syria without the blink of an eyelid and Washington is paralyzed.

This unbalanced situation is not like anything in the past, and that is why I do not agree with those analysts who believe the Cold War is about to return. The situation today is totally different, one that cannot be explained using terms from the international political lexicon of the Cold War.

Do we hear the drums of the apocalyptic war of Gog and Magog? I do not know, not being a prophet or the son of one. However, the situation is worrisome, because here in Israel we live in a fragile, crisis-filled region which once solved its own problems but is now becoming the playing field for the conflict between one international power with aspirations for global hegemony and another that is searching for  a way out with minimum damage to itself and the region. It is practically impossible to bridge the gap between these two radically different thought patterns. And the lack of a bridge may cause the region to degenerate into a situation where everyone will lose.

A Constitutional Right to Muslim Migration - Daniel Greenfield

by Daniel Greenfield

The difference between government and tyranny.

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam.

The United States Constitution makes Judge Richard Posner yawn.

”I see absolutely no value to a judge of spending decades, years, months, weeks, day, hours, minutes, or seconds studying the Constitution,”  he once wrote.

“Eighteenth-century guys, however smart,” Judge Posner suggested, couldn’t have grasped our high tech world. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights, according to him, “do not speak to today.” He dismissed it as a document based on “what those 18th-century guys were worrying about.”

Judge Richard Posner is a smart guy. And he’s no 18th-century guy. Instead he was born in 1939. That means that he speaks to today. Unlike old fuddy duddies like Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

As the judge of the future, Posner’s birth, a little more than a century after Jefferson’s death, qualifies him to tackle the bold new legal problems of tomorrow. Judge Posner discovered gay marriage in the Constitution. Or rather he discovered that marriage, like the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, was more 18th century nonsense and that Judeo-Christian values were a “tradition of hate.”

Now Judge Posner has discovered a bold new right. The right of Muslims to settle in Indiana. This was one of those rights unforeseen by even the smart 18th century guys who lacked Pos’ legalistic savvy.

In his screed, Posner accuses Governor Pence, who has resisted Muslim migrant dumping in his state, of believing “without evidence” that some Syrian Muslim migrants “were sent to Syria by ISIS to engage in terrorism and now wish to infiltrate the United States in order to commit terrorist acts here. No evidence of this belief has been presented, however; it is nightmare speculation.”

Actually a nightmare speculation would be that Judge Posner will still be on the bench in the 22nd century issuing similarly stupid screeds. It’s a nightmare speculation because it’s wildly unlikely.

ISIS Jihadists coming to America as Syrian Muslim migrants just requires following a straight line.

Two of the Paris attackers had come posing as Syrian refugees. They had been dispatched by ISIS. ISIS was kind enough to tell us as much. “We have sent many operatives to Europe with the refugees.”

What are the odds that they might just be doing the very same thing to the United States?

Even the refugees themselves are warning that there are Islamic terrorists among them. But, like the United States Constitution and the institution of marriage, none of that impresses Judge Posner.

He’s too smart to waste time on the facts. Who cares what ISIS or the refugees say?

“As far as can be determined from public sources, no Syrian refugees have been arrested or prosecuted for terrorist acts or attempts in the United States,” Posner crows.

There’s the case of Younis Al-Jayab, back in January. But Al-Jayab didn’t get around to carrying out an attack. He merely went to aid ISIS while writing, “O Allah grant us martyrdom for your sake while engaged in fighting.” But that could mean anything. We really must wait until a Syrian Muslim migrant murders 50 people in a gay nightclub before assuming that we shouldn’t draw any conclusions.

Posner then goes on to imply that opposition to migrant dumping in Indiana is racist and that if Governor Pence is worried, then “he should communicate his fears to the Office of Refugee Resettlement.” That’s like suggesting anyone worried about Judge Posner’s state of mind should communicate those fears to Judge Posner. That’s a problem posing as a solution.

Judge Posner insists that excluding migrants from a terror state is discrimination. Having first invented a right to gay marriage, the ‘Pos’ followed that up by inventing a right for Muslims who support beheading them to settle in Indiana. The two rights are contradictory. You can have gay marriage or you can have a whole lot of Muslim migrants. But these two invented rights are in a primal state of conflict.

The progressive utopia in which gay nightclubs and Muslim populations can coexist and team up against those mean conservatives is a left-wing fantasy. Much like price controlling your way to prosperity.

When Trump called for a Muslim migrant ban, it was suddenly discovered that Muslims had a sovereign right to migrate to and settle in the United States. Laurence Tribe, Obama’s judicial adviser, insisted that the ban was unconstitutional. But there is no constitutional right for Muslims to move to America.

At least not in the actual Constitution. But Tribe is the author of “The Invisible Constitution.” His invisible Constitution is a “gyroscopic” entity in which anything that progressives dream of can be found. This magically invisible Constitution also matters much more than the boring old written Constitution.

It’s this invisible Constitution which affords a right for Muslims to migrate to America.

At Loyola, Judge Posner said, “I’m not particularly interested in the 18th Century, nor am I particularly interested in the text of the Constitution. I don’t believe that any document drafted in the 18th century can guide our behavior today.”

The question then is what does guide our behavior? The obvious answer is Judge Posner. Instead of a Constitution, we have a Posnertuition.

What is the guiding light of the Posnertution? Judge Posner wrote in the Yale Law Journal, “I think we can forget about the 18th century, much of the text. We ask with respect to contemporary constitutional issues, ask what is a sensible response.”

What is a sensible response? Judge Posner’s idea of sensible response is to disregard the facts about Islamic terrorism and inflict his own will on Indiana. Most dictatorships are governed by the sensible responses of the dictator. The Constitution was meant to make America into a different sort of place.

What Judge Pos and Larry Tribe fail to realize though is that without the actual Constitution, there is little to stop some other fellow from declaring that Posner was probably a smart fellow back when he graduated from Harvard Law back under JFK, but that his “sensible” responses are unsuited to 21st century problems like ISIS. And that he ought to make way for a millennial judge who can solve them.

The same authority that is illegitimately leveraged to impose Muslim migrants on Indiana can be leveraged to  do all sorts of things that may be against the text of the old Constitution, but which can fit into a new invisible dark matter Constitution composed of a new set of judicial agendas.

And Judge Posner might not like some of those agendas at all.

Those 18th century guys were actually pretty smart. They understood the usages and limitations of power. They knew that the difference between tyranny and government is consent.

The American people have not consented to dumping the Syrian Civil War into this country. Their protests have been dismissed and ignored. The progressive elites baffled by the rise of Trump refuse to understand that his rise is a direct result of their own behavior.

The EU elites slammed the door on any rational conversation about migration. And then Brexit came. Because the question was not whether the mass migration would end, but how it would end.

Judge Posner insists that Indiana can’t even pull funds for Syrian migrants from Exodus, a local VOLAG, because he doesn’t think that there is a real threat. But he fails to understand that the question is not whether migrant dumping will end, but how it will end. Trump is one answer.  There may be others that he will like even less.

“It’s funny to talk about the oath judges take to uphold the constitution since the Supreme Court has transformed the Constitution in its decisions. The oath is not really to the original constitution, or to the constitution as amended. It is to some body of law created by the Supreme Court. You can forget about the oath. That is not of significance,” Judge Posner has opined.

Much of the country wouldn’t find that oath nearly as amusing. Let alone the image of justices swearing to uphold their own power over a populace with no say in their appointments. There is an obvious reason why our elites favor the migration of populations where tyranny is commonplace.

Like Syria.

Importing Syrian Muslims is a convenient way of undermining the Constitution. But those elites who promote the practice might wish to consider whether their invisible Constitution might not fall to the Koran.

Putin's Puritan Piety: The Ideological War against the West - Giulio Meotti

by Giulio Meotti

To establish his authority on the Russian society, President Vladimir Putin has shaped a doctrine mobilizing the entire Russian society against a perceived Western "decadence".

  • Russia is one of the few countries in the Western world in which religion is becoming increasingly important and not less.
  • To establish his authority on the Russian society, President Vladimir Putin has shaped a doctrine mobilizing the entire Russian society against a perceived Western "decadence". He has declared that Russian traditional family values are a bulwark against the West's "so-called tolerance -- genderless and infertile."
  • The first Cold War was a clash between Western democracy and the Soviet dictatorship of the proletariat. The new Cold War is a one between Western liberalism and Russian conservatism.
During the Cold War, American conservatives used to label the Soviet Union "the godless nation" on the verge of collapse because it had purged religion from the Russian society. Two decades later, the Kremlin is occupied by a former officer of the KGB, secretly baptized, who launches the same accusation of atheism at the United States and the West.
Welcome to "Putin's covert war on Western decadence", as The Spectator defined it:
"Putin's Russia is fast becoming a very puritan place. Ever since returning to the presidency in 2012, Putin has pursued an increasingly religious-conservative ideology both at home and abroad, defining Russia as a moral fortress against sexual licence and decadence, porn and gay rights".
Recently, Russian officials censored porn websites. When the largest pornography site on the internet, PornHub, offered the Russia's official communications and media watchdog a premium account in exchange for lifting the ban, Russian officials replied: "Sorry, we are not in the market and the demography is not a commodity."

Russian President Vladimir Putin's ideological war against the West is getting cocky and self-confident. In a televised speech from a Kremlin hall, Putin declared that Russian traditional family values are a bulwark against the West's "so-called tolerance -- genderless and infertile."

"Many Euro-Atlantic countries have abandoned their roots, including Christian values," said Putin. The patriarch of the Orthodox Church, Kirill, echoed Putin by charging the West of being engaged in a "spiritual disarmament" of the Russian people, and by criticizing the European laws that prevent wearing religious symbols in public. "We have experienced an era of atheism and we know what it means to live without God", Kirill said.

The first ten years of Putin's dominance were devoid of any religious and cultural reference. Putin and his circle never mentioned any "values", and did not try to teach any moral lessons to the West. The second Putin decade has been marked by a "conservative revolution" based on the revival of an isolated Russian Orthodox culture, separated for centuries from European civilization. "Putin wants to make Russia into the traditional values capital of the world," said Masha Gessen, author of a Putin biography, entitled The Man Without a Face: The Unlikely Rise of Vladimir Putin. In the Russian media, Putin is now called "the savior of the decadent West."

Putin is now focused on a church in the heart of Paris. The Sainte-Trinité Cathedral, often referred to as "Moscow on the Seine," is under construction near the Eiffel Tower, in the Quai Branly, and will be the largest Orthodox cathedral in France. "This church is an outpost of the other Europe, conservative and anti-modern, in the heart of the country of libertinism and secularism", said Michel Eltchaninoff, a French scholar and author of the book, Dans la tête de Vladimir Poutine ("Inside the Head of Vladimir Putin"), on the thoughts of the Russian president.
Are France, the United States and Ireland open to gay marriage? Putin's Russia bans "gay propaganda". Does Western Europe allow quick divorce? Putin's Russia taxes divorce. Does the West legalize abortion on demand? Putin's Russia is trying to restrict it. Russia's leading clerics have just urged Putin to ban abortion. A new Russian law also targets "foreign religions."
"Western values, from liberalism to the recognition of the rights of sexual minorities, from Protestantism to comfortable prisons for murderers, arouse in us suspicion, wonder and alienation", said Yevgeny Bazhanov, one of Putin's "intellectuals". Putin has apparently even managed to win the support of the most renowned Russian musicians, such as the conductor Valery Gergiev, superintendent at the St. Petersburg Marjinskij theater.

Even in foreign policy, Putin often justifies its decisions with references to Christianity. The New York Times explained that, in addition to strategic and economic interests, a major reason to explain Russian support for Assad's regime in Syria is the uncompromising position of the Orthodox Church. The Russian Patriarch Kirill evoked, in fact, the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, with its endless "carcasses of defiled churches."

Before that, there was the historical role of Russia in defense of Armenian Christians against Turkish pro-Western Muslims, and Christian Serbs against Bosnian Muslims supported by the U.S. To try to justify the invasion of the Crimea, Putin said that is "our Temple Mount," a reference to Judaism's holiest site in Jerusalem.

Vladimir Putin has presided for years over the great revival of Orthodox Christianity. On the eve of the Bolshevik Revolution, the Russian church had 50,000 parishes and 60 schools. By 1941, Stalin had eliminated the church as a public institution. Every monastery and seminary had been closed. With the fall of communism in 1991, the church began to rebuild its devastated institutional life. Putin's Russia is returning to the concept of Byzantine symphonia -- an approach in which church and state work together.

The church apparently aspires to achieve the "re-Christianization of the Russian nation." Although as much as 70% of Russians call themselves Orthodox and are baptized, only 4% take part in the liturgy. But Russia is also one of the few countries in the Western world in which religion is becoming increasingly important and not less.

To establish his authority over the Russian society, Putin has shaped a doctrine mobilizing the entire Russian society against a perceived Western "decadence." The Kremlin has closely followed the opposition to gay marriage in France and tensions over migrants in the European Union. Putin then launched a conservative offensive aimed at both Russians and Europeans. As the Wall Street Journal wrote, "Putin Depicts Russia as a Bulwark Against European Decadence."

Against a perceived Western amnesia about its own Christian past, moral relativism and political correctness, Putin affirmed the Christian roots of Russia, traditional family values, patriotism and obedience to hierarchy.

"According to him, in essence, Europe has entered a phase of decadence, while Russia is in an ascending phase of its history", Michel Eltchaninoff says of Putin.
"He relies on the pseudo-scientific model of Konstantin Leontiev, one of whose most famous concepts Vladimir Putin is fond of quoting: that of 'flourishing complexity'. According to the Russian philosopher, who took a fervently anti-European and anti-bourgeois position, any civilisation, after a period of original simplicity, reaches its apex in an era of flourishing complexity, before declining into a period of simplification and confusion. For Leontiev, ever since the Renaissance, Europe has ceased to give birth to saints and geniuses, and only engenders engineers, parliamentarians and ethics professors. It makes everything uniform, through its mode of development and its conformism. But it is also confused. Its inhabitants are lost, and no longer know how to give meaning to their lives. They show themselves to be incapable of perceiving an inspiring superior principle."
The first Cold War was a clash between Western democracy and the Soviet dictatorship of the proletariat. Western freedom crushed the Soviet gulags. The new Cold War is a one between Western liberalism and Russian conservatism.

As happened during the first Cold War, when the Soviets depicted capitalism as a Western fault, avaricious and amoral, the burden is presumably again on the West to prove it has better way of life and that its society is not just a "decadent" stereotype. Meanwhile, against the West's visible lack of self-confidence and the deterioration of Europe's élite, Putin's geopolitical and ideological hegemony is getting stronger.

The Fundamental Difference Between Leftists and Republicans - Jay Valentine

by Jay Valentine

Trump is the phenomenon he remains, flawed as he is personally, because millions of Americans do have a cause.

The difference between leftists and Republicans is the cause vs. the person, and this week is a singularly most poignant example. Leftists are 100% for the cause, and no matter what their actors do, they will never abandon them if they support and advance the cause.

Republicans are “every man for himself” all the time.

Bill Clinton has years of rape, groping, and sexual harassment incidents with credible victims lining up and the Democratic Party stands behind him saying “everyone lies about sex.” Hillary attacks the victimized women and threatens them, but okay, that was a long time ago. Nobody cares. The women’s vote is going Hillary.

Bill Clinton is disbarred for lying under oath while president, and nobody much cares. He remains a dominant figure in the Democratic circles. People pay him millions of dollars to make speeches.

Ted Kennedy leaves a woman to drown in a car after his drunkenness put the car in a pond, and the party reveres him as a “lion of the Senate.” We can add JFK to the mix. In every case, women were debased and abused, and the press covered it up and when it did come out, nobody cared.

Then Trump gets caught making the type of comment, regrettably we might expect him to have made -- 11 years ago, and the Republicans are awash in fake indignation.

Rubio, Fiorina, Ryan and scores of others attack him or want him to drop off the ticket, delivering certain victory to Hillary Clinton.

See the difference here? What if the voice had been Bill Clinton’s? The media would have covered most of it up; the tape would probably never be found in the first place. If it did come out, not a single Democratic politician or talking head would demand he get off the ticket. Why?

Because the cause of bigger government, the elite state, is so overriding a goal that any politician who will espouse it, no matter how flawed, will have the support of the Left and its state-owned media.

The Republican Party does not have a cause. The closest thing Republicans have to a cause is getting elected, going along with the Democrats, funding the ever-growing welfare state, funding ObamaCare because they fear a government shutdown.

Republicans like Ryan and McConnell are weeks away from lining up to see who will “reach out to Hillary” after she gets elected to further the disaster brought on by Obama. They are the bipartisan adults in the room. To the Leftists, they are the “useful idiots” of Lenin.

Trump is the phenomenon he remains, flawed as he is personally, because millions of Americans do have a cause. It is to stop illegal immigration, stop the massive regulations killing small business, getting out of the Obamacare scam that has raised many families’ health care costs $4,500 a year or more. These Americans have a cause and Trump is the only game in town who can help them achieve the saving of the country they were given at birth.

For the first time in a generation, there is a competitive cause to the ever growing Leftist, elite state. Trump may not make it, but he coalesced a cause that will grow to immense proportions if a Hillary is elected and we have years of other shoes dropping -- scandals, fresh emails, Clinton escapades.

If this week has shown us anything, it further unmasked who is for the cause and who is for “every man for himself.”

The Republican White Togas at Work for the Queen of Sleaze - Clarice Feldman

by Clarice Feldman

I doubt that Americans are so addlepated as to pick an incompetent, thoroughly corrupt globalist over an often-vulgar man who loves his country and has accomplished a great deal.

Years ago I wrote of my contempt for the white togaed squishes of the right who flee the grounds of the forum when jackals attack their allies in order to keep their garb free of stain. This week in the lead up to the second presidential debate tonight, they’re at it again.

Just as evidence of the Clinton corruption is once again made manifest in the release of more of her emails and a closer look at the late revised Clinton foundation filings, they flee Trump because of a suspiciously timed tape of an eleven-year-old conversation with GHW Bush’s nephew, Billy Bush. If, like a toddler, you are easily distracted by shining objects. you’ll fall for it. If you’re a grownup who realizes the fate of the world and this country depend on your vote you won’t.

1. How Hillary Broke the Law and Destabilized North Africa, creating a Refugee Crisis and a catastrophe in Libya and Syria

General Mike Flynn laid out the catastrophic results of then-Secretary of State Clinton’s actions in Libya, based on false claims that Qaddafi was engaged in widespread attacks on civilians.

While no saint, Qaddafi was key to our counterterrorism efforts in the area. Ignoring the advice of the secretary of defense and lawyers in her own department, Secretary Clinton allowed 18 shipments of arms from Qatar to Libyan jihadis who were on the State Department’s own list of foreign terrorists, in apparent violation of federal law (28 U.S. Code 2339A and 2339B). The arms shipments were funneled through a Qatar cleric “who brokered their release from prison” after Clinton persuaded the President to grant the terrorists full diplomatic recognition.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Flynn underscored the connection to the Clinton Foundation in her otherwise puzzling conduct:
Qatar has donated anywhere from $1 to $5 million to the Clinton Foundation, and emails reveal members of the Qatari royal family were privileged with back channel meetings with Secretary Clinton at the State Department. While whipping up support for the Libya military campaign, Clinton told Arab leaders, “it’s important to me personally,” the Washington Post reported.
Hillary Clinton’s prosecution of foreign policy in Libya crossed several lines: she showed extremely bad judgment by ignoring military and intelligence officials, she let personal interests conflict with U.S. foreign policy and, most importantly, she may have broken the law -- again.
2. Hillary’s speeches to Big Donors Reveal clearly her Deceptive nature and her view of Trump and Sanders supporters

Wikileaks revealed a batch of new hacked emails involving Hillary this week. As people sort through them, some gems from the well-paid speeches she gave to big corporate donors showed up.

“My dream is a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders, some time in the future with energy that is as green and sustainable as we can get it, powering growth and opportunity for every person in the hemisphere.” [05162013 Remarks to Banco Itau.doc, p. 28]”
According to Politico:
Hacked audio of a conversation between Hillary Clinton and donors during a February fundraising event shows the Democrat nominee describing Bernie Sanders supporters as "children of the Great Recession" who are "living in their parents’ basement."
Speaking at a Virginia fundraiser hosted by former U.S. ambassador Beatrice Welters, Clinton says in a clip released by the Free Beacon that many of her former primary opponent's supporters sought things like “free college, free health care,” saying that she preferred to occupy the space "from the center-left to the center-right" on the political spectrum.
During the conversation, also reported in the Intercept, Clinton confesses to feeling "bewildered" by those to her far-left and far-right in the election.
"There is a strain of, on the one hand, the kind of populist, nationalist, xenophobic, discriminatory kind of approach that we hear too much of from the Republican candidates," she said. "And on the other side, there’s just a deep desire to believe that we can have free college, free healthcare, that what we’ve done hasn’t gone far enough, and that we just need to, you know, go as far as, you know, Scandinavia, whatever that means, and half the people don’t know what that means, but it’s something that they deeply feel."
4. Mud Slung and Squishes Run

Just as this hit the wires, NBC released a video of Billy Bush, a cousin of GW Bush and a nephew of GHW Bush, a TV personage, in a taped locker-room type conversation he had eleven years ago with Trump. For some this echoes the usual leftwing last minute charges against George Bush and John McCain falsely accusing them of sexual misconduct.

Trump quickly issued an apology: "I've never said that I'm a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I'm not. I've said and done things I regret and the words released today on this more than a decade old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me knows these words don't reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong and I apologize," Trump said.

Measured against the criminal corruption of Hillary and Bill this would seem to an ordinary observer to be insignificant. For Hillary it was “horrific”. Tom Maguire responds:
The October Surprises keep piling up. Can'ya believe Trump made lewd comments about women? But Politico delivers the punchline:
“The audio represents an extraordinary level of vulgarity --Democrats quickly condemned Trump for casually joking about sexual assault -- even for a candidate who seized the Republican nomination through his proud embrace of political incorrectness.
‘This is horrific,’ Hillary Clinton said on Twitter. “We cannot allow this man to become president.’ “
A shortage of Twitter-space undoubtedly prevented her from tweeting her real thought, which must have been "We cannot allow a man like this to become president again".
As to whose mind might be changed by this, who can tell. The undecideds out there probably have guessed by now that this is Trump being Trump.
I used to be a Democrat so nothing shocks me, but Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, and others quickly virtue-signaled, in effect playing for Hillary.

Mitt’s response was the most perfervid. He claimed the taped words “demean our wives and daughters and corrupt America’s face to the world”. I cannot improve upon the responses of my online friends “daddy” and James D” to this nonsense.

James d:
The premier arts center in the nation's capital is named for a man who would have sex with anything that had breasts and a pulse, including a mobster's daughter and an East German spy, whose brother probably had Marilyn Monroe murdered, and whose other brother got an employee drunk, drove her into a river and left her to drown.
The former "conscience of the Senate" was a former klansman, and pretty much every public building in his state is named for him.
The husband of the current Democrat candidate for President (and a former President himself) settled a lawsuit for sexual harassment against a former employee, sodomized an intern in the Oval Office, and had about a million other sordid affairs, while his wife the current candidate used her taxpayer-paid staff to shred the reputations of her husband's victims.
All of those things happened while the criminals in question actually held high office.
How about you criticize THAT before going on about something Trump said during a private conversation a decade ago while he was a private citizen, you sanctimonious loser jackass.
Daddy could not contain himself on Romney’s claim that this corrupted “America’s face to the world”.
Correct. It must make Putin and his mistress awful upset, and France's Hollande and his current mistress awful upset, and Italy's Berlusconi and all his former babes terribly upset, and Prince Charlie’s (“I want to be your tampon Camilla") awful upset, and Mexico's president and his second Soap Opera Babe awful upset, and Canada's Trudeau (first or second doesn't matter even if she's banging Mick Jagger) and their babes on the side awful upset, and the head of the UN Climate Council, Pachori, who had to resign for banging underage whatevers awful upset, and whoever Hu in China was banging before he started banging his current TV show squeeze awful upset, and all the Middle Eastern potentates with multiple wives and dozens of concubines awful upset, and ISIS and their Yazidi Christian women sex slaves awful upset, and Kim Jung crazy Norkorea who puts his used chicks naked into cages to be devoured by ravenous dogs, it must make him awful upset too.
Yep. Trump saying "Grab her by the pussy" 11 years ago must make them all awful upset. Hopefully they'll give us some ice to put on it.
In any event, GW Bush admitted he and his dad used the same sort of talk in private, and Vernon Jordan said when they were golfing he and Bill Clinton did, too.

5. Meantime, following Obama’s disengagement of America in the world and his destruction of U.S. military power, the world is getting more and more dangerous

Obama purges the officer corps, cuts our nuclear arsenal, and directs the military to focus on diversity appointments and transgender training. He strips veterans benefits and overlooks the shockingly bad care provided in VA hospitals while providing funds for transgender surgery for the troops, and generous benefits to illegal aliens and unvetted Syrian immigrants. In the meantime, Russia flexes its muscles in Syria, the Far East and Eastern Europe.

John Schindler reports:
Today’s biggest news, however, comes from Estonian reports that the Russian military is sending Iskander-M missiles to Kaliningrad on a civilian freighter. It’s expected to dock in Kaliningrad today with its alarming cargo.
The Iskander-M system, called SS-26 by NATO… has a range of 300 miles and can carry either a conventional or a nuclear warhead. An Iskander-M based in Kaliningrad can strike targets deep in Poland and across the whole Baltic region. Make no mistake, this is primarily an offensive weapons system.
There’s a reason that the Kremlin promised to not ship this missile system to Kaliningrad back in 2009, in exchange for President Obama’s scuppering of missile defense in Poland and the Czech Republic. Activating an Iskander-M unit in Kaliningrad, west of the Baltic republics, is rightly seen as destabilizing by NATO’s whole eastern flank which, despite security promises by the White House, remains vulnerable to Russian attack. For Warsaw and several other NATO capitals, this move resembles a Baltic version of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
This constitutes a direct challenge to Washington by Moscow -- and by Vladimir Putin to Barack Obama, personally. The KGB officer in the Kremlin is seeking to get in one last, grand strategic humiliation for our president before he leaves office. And why not? Such reckless antics have worked well for the Russians so far, given Obama’s preference to avert eyes and hope for the best whenever Moscow misbehaves.
Unlike many, I believe that Trump will do fine in tonight’s debate, and I agree with Milton Rosenberg, who argues that ‘evaluation apprehension” keeps polls from accurately reflecting the margin of Trump’s support over Hillary's.

I doubt that Americans are so addlepated as to pick an incompetent, thoroughly corrupt globalist over an often-vulgar man who loves his country and has accomplished a great deal. I think this leak came so early in the month because Clinton and her allies fear this is true.
