The Red Color siren was heard in communities located near the Gaza border on Friday evening.IDF attacks Hamas infrastructure in Gaza after two rockets fired towards southern Israel.
The IDF confirmed that two rockets were fired from Gaza toward the area. There were no reports of physical injuries or damages.
In response to the rocket fire, IDF fighter jets attacked Hamas terrorist targets in the southern Gaza Strip.
The air strike, said the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, targeted a workshop which produces rockets and weapons infrastructure belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization.
“Attacking these targets hampers the Hamas terror organization's ability to build up,” the statement said.
“The IDF sees very seriously any attacks on Israeli territory and will continue to act as necessary against attempts to harm Israeli civilians. The Hamas terror organization bears responsibility for what is happening in and out of the Gaza Strip, and will bear the consequences for terrorist operations against Israeli citizens.”
Earlier this month, a rocket that was fired from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory. The rocket exploded in an open area in the Eshkol Regional Council.
In retaliation, a military aircraft attacked an infrastructure used for underground operations by the Hamas terrorist organization in southern Gaza.
Calm has mostly been maintained in southern Israel in recent months, after the Islamic Jihad fired over 80 rockets at the area in February before it reportedly asked for a ceasefire.
