Terrorist rocket fire continued overnight
Sunday with over 15 rockets exploding in Israeli communities bordering
the Gaza Strip, no one was injured and there was no damage to
structures. Hamas' military wing, Izzedine al-Qassam, took
responsibility for the attacks.
Following the rocket fire on Beersheba on
Sunday morning, terrorists fired mortars at IDF troops near the Gaza
Strip border fence. The IDF responded with airstrikes on terrorist
facilities in the Gaza Strip. Army Radio reported that one Hamas
operative was killed and another wounded in the airstrikes.
Despite the renewed hostilities, schools in Beersheba were open on Monday and operated as usual.
Beersheba Mayor Ruvik Danilovich closed down
the city's schools on Sunday when two Grad rockets fired from the Gaza
Strip exploded near the city that morning.
Both rockets hit unpopulated areas and caused
no injuries or damage. Local residents said they clearly heard the
explosions. Two early-warning sirens went off across the city during the
course of the morning, urging residents to enter fortified rooms and
bomb shelters.
In an interview with Army Radio, Danilovich
said, "In recent years, missiles were fired directly into educational
facilities while they were empty. We are not protected, and as long as
there is not full protection within the education system, I will put
human life first."
