Women in Green Launch their Political Journal Advocating Israeli Sovereignty Over Judea and Samaria

by Sally Zahav

Have you heard of Women in Green? It's also known by the name Women for Israel's Tomorrow, and if you love Israel, you'll want to learn about this vibrant group, dedicated to promoting the right of the Jewish People to live as sovereigns in the Land of Israel.

The movement is dedicated to safeguarding our G-d given Biblical homeland.
We act out of the belief in the central role of the Land of Israel to the future of the Jewish People. We are primarily action oriented, promoting our educational messages in very practical ways. The movement is led by Nadia Matar and Yehudit Katsover and their activities are many and varied:
    • We plant trees on state lands in Judea to safeguard the lands for future generations.
    • We hold educational agricultural camps for youth during school breaks and in the summer where local youth both plant trees and hear educational lectures.
    • We returned a Jewish presence to the former Israeli army base of Shdema overlooking the strategic highway between Jerusalem and Tekoa by holding weekly educational and cultural activities there for over two years.
    • For the past 18 years, we've revived an ancient custom of encircling the gates of the Old City of Jerusalem on Tisha B'Av eve to express our loyalty to Jerusalem, Israel's undivided united capital.
In addition to our almost daily activities on the ground, Women in Green together with others are advancing a grassroots apolitical historical initiative to re-apply Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. Three conferences were already held..
The Women in Green movement has launched a political journal, the second issue of which is due to be released very soon. Here is a statement that the editors prepared to commemorate the release of the first issue, a few weeks ago:
The ”Women in Green” movement and the Forum for Sovereignty are pleased to announce the publication of “SOVEREIGNTY” – a new journal, which is publishing its premiere issue for Shabbat Hayei Sarah.
As the newspapers report on negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, and the outrageous  linkage between the Iranian nuclear project and the future of Judea and Samaria – the Women in Green movement is launching the journal “Sovereignty”.

One hundred thousand copies of the “Sovereignty” journal will be distributed throughout Israel; it will be translated to English and will be distributed among shapers of public opinion and statesmen in Israel and abroad. With the publication of this journal we aspire to take another step toward conceptual and practical implementation of the Zionist alternative to the failed two-state vision that the Left has been presenting for decades.

In recent years, in addition to activities in the field for the safeguarding of the Land of Israel, we have begun to promote the vision of applying Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. And while the Right labors and does attain important, but limited achievements – such as one more caravan or one more acre of land – the Palestinian Authority determines facts on the ground and has great influence on international and Israeli consciousness. Step by step, a Palestinian state de facto is being established within the territory of the Land of Israel financed by anti-Israeli international funds, and Israel does not respond with any clear ideological, political or practical answer.

As part of the struggle to make Israel’s case, which is a battle waged simultaneously with the practical battle to hold on to the land, we are launching “Sovereignty” as a direct outgrowth of the large conferences that we held, attended by ministers, members of Knesset, public figures and thousands of supporters, where we raised the call for the application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria.

In the pages of Sovereignty we will carry on an ideological and practical discussion, centering on the basic and essential questions regarding the political vision of the Israeli Right. We will raise many questions relating to sovereignty and its implementation which, despite their importance, must not obscure the primary and basic principle: we must apply Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria for one simple reason – this is our Land. This guiding principle takes precedence over all other explanations and justifications, true as they may be, and is the basis for them.
Women in Green seeks financial backing in order to continue their vital work in bringing fresh and effective ideas to the Israeli political arena.
