The hearing will be held May 10.
House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer said Wednesday that he is holding a hearing with state attorneys general to study the effects of environmental, social and governance standards on investments.
"ESG principles have become a progressive scheme pushed by radical left-wing groups to pressure large and small businesses to adopt policies that routinely undermine performance," said Comer, a Kentucky Republican. "These damaging ESG practices directly harm Americans’ savings and disincentivize investment in America’s essential domestic production capacity."
The hearing will be held May 10 and included Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes and Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, Republicans
The push against ESG investments is occurring in several states.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill Tuesday banning state and local entities from making investments based solely on ESG factors. The Florida Republican is leading a 19-state coalition against the ESG agenda.
