On Friday, June 26, 2015, a Palestinian gunman attacked the B’kaot Crossing, an IDF checkpoint in the Jordan Valley.
A large-scale terror attack was thwarted because the
soldiers quickly recognized the threat and responded accordingly. Col.
Ofir Levius, Commander of the Jordan Valley Division, was called to the
scene and conducted an investigation of the incident. “In every
encounter with an armed terrorist, we expect our soldiers to behave in a
confident and professional manner,” explained Col. Levius.
The Jordan Valley Division is charged with the protection
of Israel’s Eastern Border. Though there is some terrorist activity in
the region, it is considered quiet, and the incident was out of the
ordinary.
Our forces remain prepared to face any and every threat in the region nonetheless.
