Likud MK and ex-Shin Bet chief Avi Dichter
believes that Hamas' tunnels under the Israel-Gaza Strip border could
turn from an asset into a liability for the terrorist group.
In an interview with Israel Hayom, Dichter said, "With
wise actions, the defense establishment in general and the IDF in
particular will be able to turn the tunnels in Gaza into the largest
Hamas cemetery of all time. That is how I see things."
Dichter went on to say that the threat posed by Hamas
tunnels could be "turned into an opportunity" if the Israeli military
properly uses the lessons it has learned from subterranean combat.
"We can turn lemons into lemonade," Dichter said.
Meanwhile, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said on Friday
that his group had uncovered underground cameras and sensors that were
meant to monitor Hamas' tunnel construction efforts.
