Organizers of the weekly left-wing protest against the government’s planned judicial reforms announced on Friday that the protest scheduled for Saturday night in Tel Aviv has been cancelled due to the security situation.

"In recent days, we have been in close contact with the Israel Police and the security forces, with the consideration being maintaining the safety of the demonstrators. Out of responsibility for the safety of our people, we have decided to postpone the demonstration for a week,” the organizers said.

“We continue to have our finger on the pulse, and if we see that the government is promoting changes related to the coup d'état, we will take to the streets of Israel with all our might. The Israeli government must not mistake our intentions - we are watching over democracy and will make sure that Israel remains democratic," they added.

Earlier on Friday, as part of a joint situation assessment by the Home Front Command and the Rishon LeZion Municipality, it was decided to cancel the Backstreet Boys concert that was planned to take place in the city on Saturday night.

There is no change in the Home Front Command safety instructions for Rishon LeZion.

In contrast, a concert by singer Aviv Geffen was permitted to take place in Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv on Thursday, despite the precarious security situation. About 40,000 people attended.

The production of the concert decided to hold it as planned despite Operation Shield and Arrow, with the approval of the Home Front Command. Instructions which appeared on the screens in the park before the start of the event said, "Dear audience, if an alert is received during the show, you must sit on the ground for 10 minutes. It is important to stay in your seats to avoid injury."
