American forces began striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran at noon Eastern Time, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday.
The strikes follow recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members deployed to the region, CENTCOM said in a post to X.
U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News on Monday, “We’re going to hit them very hard,” following Iran’s attack on two U.S. bases in Jordan. U.S. air defenses intercepted all but one of the missiles, which was not targeted as its trajectory was deemed non-threatening, Trump said.
