Israel’s Security Cabinet will meet to discuss Phase II of the Gaza peace plan amid ongoing Iranian protests. The progression hinges on Hamas disarming and returning the remains of the final hostage.
The Security Cabinet will meet on Tuesday evening to discuss Phase II of the Gaza peace plan, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
The discussion comes amid ongoing protests in Iran, which may affect the security implications of advancing the deal's progress.
Israel has repeatedly insisted that Hamas terrorists disarm and return the remains of the final hostage, St.-Sgt.-Maj. Ran Gvili, before Phase II can begin.
This included Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisting that the Rafah Border Crossing will not reopen until Gvili's remains are returned, Israel's public broadcaster KAN News reported last week.

Hamas terrorists claimed to have renewed searching for Gvili's remains in coordination with Israel, a source confirmed to the Post on Wednesday.
Additionally, Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the IDF to prepare for the possibility of returning to fighting against Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip, Walla learned earlier this month.
