Arutz Sheva spoke about the network's closure with those were interviewed several times by Al Jazeera, including Arabic culture expert Dr. Mordechai Kedar.
Dr. Kedar agreed with the government's assessment that Al Jazeera supports terrorism.
"The Al Jazeera channel runs a jihad, as it defines itself, against the Arab rulers, against Israel, against the US and the West, and against Westernism that infiltrates the Islamic societies. The goal of the campaign is to promote the Muslim Brotherhood everywhere, Gaza, Judea and Samaria, Egypt, Jordan, et cetera," he said.
Dr. Kedar noted that Al Jazeera considers the terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah to be 'freedom fighters.'
As for the statement that the network actually conducts jihad, he says that "Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi, who has formed the ideology of Qatar in recent years and therefore also that of Al Jazeera, said that 'every person has to go out to jihad in his own way as you do with Al Jazeera" This is the man who turned Qatar into a Muslim Brotherhood state."
Dr. Kedar said that Al Jazeera was even more dangerous to the Sunni Arab nations than to Israel. "This is a channel whose sole purpose is to stir up internal conflicts and wars in the Arab world, and therefore many in the Western world blame the network for lighting the match of the Arab Spring."
"Two months ago, five Sunni Arab states launched a series of sanctions against Qatar, including an air and sea blockade and demands to shut down Al-Jazeera, but the Qataris have friends like Iran and Turkey. They have a lot of money, so both sides are surviving," he explained. "Recently, Al Jazeera closed a special channel for Egypt that was involved in promoting the Muslim Brotherhood and was behind Morsi when he was president. They closed the channel after they made trouble for Al-Sisi and his people."
According to Dr. Kedar, Israel should have closed down Al Jazeera years ago. "It's too late. I've been saying for years - proper disclosure makes me admit that I have been interviewed [by Al Jazeera] - that their Jerusalem offices must be closed and they must be forced to conduct their Jihad from outside [Jerusalem]."
"They send their correspondent to the gates of the Knesset, he stands there with our seat of government behind him and slanders Israel," Dr. Kedar added.
Al Jazeera has stated its intention to file an appeal against the closing of its Jerusalem branch.
